[Q] Disable google talk - HTC One V

I recently updated to the Shpongle rom and have been very happy with the results. One annoyance I have is that when I go running, in the middle of my run, my music tracks will start to skip/repeat/pause and google talk activates by itself. I keep canceling the google talk but it keeps re-appearing. Is there some way to disable/remove permanently? I never use this feature at all.
Thanks,
Larry

You can delete 'Talk.apk' in system/app folder and then reboot your phone. :good:

Question about force stop

Hey guys,
So i was looking through apps under setttings and i noticed that somenof that apps that i didnt even launch had force stop button available to click. Does this mean they are running in the background? And do i have to manually force stop apps everytime i close it?
And one extra question thats off topic. How do i log off out of google talk?
Thanks
No you don't have to force stop anything unless it is acting up.
To sign out of Google talk click your username at the top that is in green, hit available and then hit sign out.
But if the force button isnt greyed out and available, does that mean that app is currently running in the background? Thanks

this is the way android works, it often runs apps that it thinks will speed up multi tasking for the user. its always been this way with android. force stop them if you want, but they will come back sometimes in a never ending cycle of kill/reopen.
This is why you don't use task killers.

[Q] Sony SmartWatch Compatibility

Hello,
Is Sony SmartWatch compatible with Galaxy Note 2? Has anyone tried using it? I'm planning to buy one, is it worth or not?
Thanks!
Yeh I'm using it, it works great, fully compatable.

if the sony smartwatch is anything like my motorola motoactv, then the answer button only pops up if you have headphones connected to the watch itself. if no headphones detected, it will default to decline.

It works, but not flawlessly. There's an issue with the OS that can activate talk-back (or parts thereof). It only comes into play if you install some of the third-party notification apps, like Watch It (really good). It can be fixed permanently (in a non-ideal why) or temporarily fixed (less convenient but does not require disabling Engines). You'll know when you've got this issue, because your phone will unexpectedly say to you "the folder is opening..." when you open a folder. It's a minor irritation, but it gets on your nerves very quickly.
The watch itself works very well with my Note 2. Never dropped connection so far, seems to reliably get notifications (I have actually started to turn some off - as I get more than I thought I did!).
I like how it works with my phone. I see the Smartwatch as an evolutionary step to a decent version, which hopefully Sammy or Google will release. And at $100, you can't really go wrong.
Quite a few apps, and one or two of the paid ones are worth it, but mostly the free ones will do you just fine.

Actually i just wanted to know that the apps for smartwatch are perfectly working with Note 2 or not, as i tried the call handler app in smartwatch with note 2, then i find that there is no accept button on smartwatch to accept the call only decline button is there and also find the issue with the music app. So the issue is just with mine or every one facing the same . If you are facing the same issue then is there any way to get rid of this.
Please please please reply.

The SmartWatch is not fully compatible with the Note 2 for the phone answering App. It only works fully with Sony phones. There is no accept-call option in anything other than Sony phones.
Regards.
Considering you probably will want to take the phone out of your pocket before answering it, I don't see that as a real issue. "watch it" (and other programs that use accessibility settings) clashes with some other settings on the phone causing unexpected voice feedback and disabling the continuous input on the stock keyboard.. Other than that its fine..

Can we control our music player functions like play/pause,next,previous,forward-rewind also how is the battery backup with continuous use. I am also thinking of buying this product. Also does it have a earphone audio out port?

Yes you can control music: start/stop, last/next, volume up/down.
No, there is no earphone port (use bluetooth headphones - who needs cables?)
I have found the watch controls music flawlessly, albeit not very conveniently in all honesty. Personally, I use the watch more to screen incoming messages and notifications. I don't try to do anything too fancy as it's easier to just use the phone.
On the subject of incompatibility with the TTS engines, there's no doubt this is an inconvenience, but not a great one. What happens is that the Note II (and I think other Android phones) starts talking to you when you don't want it to. For me, the biggy was it speaking out aloud "the folder is open..." (or "...closed") whenever I opened/closed a folder containing Apps. To say the least, it's distracting. If you disable the TTS engines (as I have done, undone, redone etc.) to fix the "folder is open..." issue (which fixes it for me, anyway) then you lose "DRIVING MODE" capability (which I rarely use) at least, and probably other speech apps too. The good news is that Navigation still works fine, even with the Samsung and Google TTS engines disabled. This is clearly not ideal, but only Google can fix it at the OS level, and they seem to be in no hurry at all.
I still think the Sony watch is a good product, as it allows me to receive and screen emails, RSS, tweets and to read them discreetly. It's much less distracting (and much less obvious, e.g. at meetings) than trying to read a phone.
I do still hope Samsung looks at this market though, as they will clean Sony's clock if they ever launch a similar product.

Heh. No it's very common. I know of two fixes: one is TEMPORARY, but does not require you to disable any apps; the other seems to PERMANENTLY fix the problem, but it results in disabling TTS apps. You have to figure out which of these two evils is the lessor:
Temp fix - go to setting-> applications and find the two TTS Aps (Google and Samsung). Clear the cache on both. It temporarily fixes the problem (on my Note II anyway). Bad news: it comes back, seems to be random. I have never figured out why, and now I don;t even try...
Permanent fix (the one I have today). Go to settings->apps and DISABLE said google and Samsung TTS engines. Problem goes away, but you may lose some important functionality (I haven't - Driving Mode is killed, but I don;t use it anyway). You can always re-enable these apps, by going to settings->apps, scrolling all the way to the bottom and re-enabling them. I have tried re-enabling, but this little bug comes right back after a random delay, so now, I just accept it.
Regards,
Andrew
PS - don't blame Samsung, blame google. This is their problem.
PPS - all SonyWatch notification apps seem to trigger this - on my Note II anyway. I tried 'em all.
Had to resurrect this thread, are you guys talking about the smart watch 2 or 1? I am thinking of buying smart watch 2 atm.

[APP] Voice to answer?

Hey guys I have the lg tone bt head seats... So I would like to know if theres any app or module that lets me answer the call with my voice.... Thanks
It'll drain your battery as it requires a wakelock, no matter what method you choose. But this is easy enough to achieve with Tasker.

Create a context of when the phone rings AND headset plugged in, make it wait a couple seconds and turn the ringer silent, at that point use Get Voice and look for the word 'answer' and then answer the call or reject the call.
I too am looking for an app/solution that could answer calls while driving, ask phone to read text message, fast forward songs and other when on the boat and u have wet hands, do "okay Google" from an screen. Below are wishes and frustrations with others so I'm still looking. What is your favorite app. I'll ask on a few other threads to similar questions if I see anything.
Opionions and thoughts on apps:
Tasker
I tried tasker, but it seems like it would take me days to set up all the tasks.
Dragon
It was close, but no voice answer, the music wouldn't fast forward, and reading text was just on or off automatically, when asking to play music it wouldn't play a station on Pandora without touching the screen, and only played a particular song in the music apps, vs "play all" or play "___" playlist, so in reality my favorite was that it would turn on/off drive mode via voice commands to play text, if you remembered to do it.
Google voice m+
It seemed great, but a lot of what I wanted required the purchase app and I can't even get the regular app 4.4 or 4.3 to work correctly using anything besides okay Google, as a trigger, and it was spotty when trying it out and I can't find a tutorial for the app setup either to show better ways to do things. I'll probably buy and try it some more for $2, but I think it didn't answer calls too, so then I would have to apps listening for commands.

On Body Detection - Suggestions won't go away!

Hi, I am getting a little exasperated as every time I go to the Settings on my HTC 10, there is a Suggestion to enable On-Body detection for the Smart Lock.
I don't want to use this function, and every time it comes up, I click the three dots to Remove it, but it comes back when I open Settings again. I don't use a Smart Lock on my phone, so how can I stop this annoying reminder from re-appearing?
Thanks,
Simon.

BUMP
As there was no response here, I ended up going into Google settings, activating the On Body Detection, then deactivating again, and that seems to have stopped the constant nagging. It would still be useful to know why the Remove option wasn't working, though.

This worked with my Nvidia Sheild K1 tablet running Nougat, who also wouldn't stop nagging too. Thank you.
simon your not alone, This notification as been on my phone for months now, very annoying ,and nothing so far will remove it. Why it says remove and it just comes back is beyond me. Google we don't need you telling us what we should or shouldn't do with how phones. Any ads ,and such should be able to be removed ,its my phone ,I pay the bill. This note from simon as been on here for a while how about responding to it!!!!!!!! thank you stephen
Thank you all, this was exactly what I've been looking for for a long time. Didn't want to engage on-body detection for I don't want to use any type of lock screen. Constantly annoying suggestion drove me crazy. Turned on the s**t once and then off again, happy now <3

Android O Beta issues

So I was quick to jump on the Android beta O as I was on the N rollout. I should have known there would be issues from when I was on the N beta but nevertheless I couldnt resist.
So far my issues are few but frustrating.
1. Anytime I get a call when the phone is locked it does not wake up the phone. I have to unlock the phone and click answer. Even after doing that theres still a notification that theres a call that I can either decline or answer even after Im already talking to the person. On the same issue, the proximity sensor doesnt work in the fact that when Im on the call the screen is still active and my cheek activates apps and whatnot. When on the call I cannot get to the actual phone app in order to change to speakerphone.
2. This might be silly but when using snapchat there is a significant lag and black screens between clicking on a story and it actually starting. Also in same app, when I try to take a horizontal photo it gets hung up and I have to close the app and take the photo vertically.
3. I dont know if its because Im using a launcher, but I dont get any notification dots on any of my apps. Maybe I have to be using pixel launcher in order for this to activate. Also, maybe I have to disable number notifications in the launcher for the O notifications to take over.
Those are the most noticeable so far but I figured Id get a thread going.
I keep getting Settings FC every now and then reboot doesn't fix it. Sometimes the FC disappears and settings works fine then it comes back again not sure what's causing it

Apparently pip only works with YouTube red or Google duo, neither of which I have to try. I did get another update about 5 hours after the initial update. It was much smaller than the first download.

I have both and it still does not work I also received the update
PIP does work in YouTube red for me just not duo. After the beta update yesterday my phones alot snappier. Still significant lag in Snapchat. Also Bluetooth audio does not work when playing music, only works with calls.
For PiP to work I followed this thread

I don't have YouTube red but it works for me perfectly now. also Bluetooth has been working for me with my jaybird X3. so it might be some devices.

To get P.I.P I had to flash factory image instead of take OTA update. I have YouTube red so the background play can be a little funky with PIP.
Does anyone else have Google Play Music keep showing up in the notification bar? It just keeps popping up randomly. It doesn't start playing music, it just pops up there. I'll clear the panel and it shows up in a few minutes again.

Yeah. Also force closes after a reboot. Widget doesn't work either.
For me, Android Pay stopped working. Says that the phone is rooted, but it is not. Also some apps lag and battery life seems worse. I was thinking of opting out, but it will wipe out all user data, so I decided not to. Too lazy to restore everything back.
Anybody notice the radio signal is worse? Tried flashing older radios and modems. It got a little better but not as good as nougat.

Its going to be different for everyone. I was just curious. I get average 90 on nougat and 110-115 on O
I've noticed that there are several apps that have newer version available, but won't update or install. You tube, Google App (beta), Calendar (stock), Maps & Transit (beta) won't install when downloaded from APK Mirror, nor are they being updated via the Play Store. They all work fine though, so it's not a big deal. I'm just wondering if anyone else has encountered the same or similar behavior.
