Just installed Mahdi ROm. SO far seems smooth. very few issues. Will keep you updated

I'm 1 day into the malladus Rom. It reminds me of the nexus 7 kitkat Rom. Biggest bonus is that you can flash the LG apps into this Rom and get to keep the knock feature etc. The magnetic smart screen even works.

I like the malladUS Rom also, but he hardly updates it, and no real movement in the thread talk.

Knock on and q pair can work in Mahdi. Do miss the magnetic smart cover and some other q apps

Check out this. Works for me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2599285

Which of these roms support the Slimport HDMI adapter?

Was paying with magnet unlocked. Fit it to work while in the case Ok. But every now and then it goes hay wire. Especially if I take the case off it starts turning the screen odd by itself....

OP question:
Tried CMB, CM 11, and Mahdi, and I think CM is the best option in all aspects (for me at least)
I LOVE CM ♥

Its working flawlessly. Fast, stable, long lasting battery.
Only things not working: IR and Smart cover

Slimport HDMI might also not work.

Somebody uses that? I don't know of any devices supporting it

The G Pad supports it. It works with stock. Nexus 7 2013, nexus 4 and newer, galaxy S4. All high end phones released this year support. Same for tablets. The snapdragon s4 pro and higher support miracast. Tegra4 also. This means the new surface rt tablets support it.

I'm more interested in kernels for CPU and GPU control.
I would like to see if the display colors can be modified like with the N4. If so, this will be particularly handy!

Getting Ubuntu Touch out to more users

The unstoppable Sergio Schvezov is working on bug 1201811 right now. Once it's fixed this should put is into a position where users of devices for which we have Ubuntu Touch images (and not just the four devices we supported right from the start) can just use phablet-flash. This doesn't mean that they are "officially supported" or that they're built daily in the Canonical data centre, but that you can make use of the images much more easily.
Over time we still want to build more images in the data centre in a regular fashion. One of the big blockers there has been information about the redistributability of firwmare, blobs and closed kernel modules. If you have information about the licenses any of these, it'd be great if you could help with updating the Touch device pages.
On Thursday, 1st August we are going to hold a Ubuntu Touch Porting Clinic in #ubuntu-touch on irc.freenode.net where you will be able to ask all the questions you have and our local experts can help you with updating your image(s) to the new world order. We hope to see you there!

Without adding support for CDMA I suspect this idea with sizzle out rather then take off. Just my two cents. I'm a Verizon user and was super excited to see this... But since CDMA support was announced not to be on the roadmap I've almost forgotten about the project, not a good thing. Good luck

I try ubuntu touch for 2 days in my galaxy nexus (maguro) and i think it work quite well but it isn't for daily use yet.
There aren't bugs in that MobileOS (or I haven't found these bugs) but the biggest problem is the laggy (too much laggy because the kernel isn't optimized for UubuntuTouch). I appreciate the canonical's work and I wish I'll able to use this OS daily

It basically just came out, so give it time. We've got root and someone has given LOKI our aboot and device info so we're waiting on that for the moment.
Well no idé about the future, but prob won't be to many roms for it. But I don't really feel any need for it either, on my phone I always use custom roms but on this tablet I'm happy with stock.

Yeah, we're really making strides with such a small number of interested people. Now we just need a custom recovery and we can get working on rooted stock ROMs and CM.
that would be sweet, i think custom rom scene is what i love most about android, most of the times oem's overcharge their devices pointlessly or too much and this makes the experience not fluid as it should be

....It's only been a couple of days.
I have returned my g pad and got a refund. It seems to be all devices have the blue line issue so I think I shall wait until LG sort this out. I know its not a big issue atm but the blue line means something in the hardware is wrong and so could get worse. This means I won't be looking to build anything for the device anymore.

You can't even notice it. And in comparison to the awful Tab 3 I'd rather be missing half my screen on this tablet than get that piece of crap.
As with every "issue" with consumer electronics, people always complain and make bigger deals out of everything, especially on forums. Yes there's a blue hint on the side of the screen occasionally, but unless you're looking for it (like most people try to do) you won't notice it. And even if you do it's not a big deal. It's not nearly as noticeable as light bleed.

[Q] What will I miss by not getting the G Pad Google Play Edition

The G Pad isn't available in India just yet.. but it's coming. The Google Play Edition isn't.
Just wanted an idea of what all I'll be missing.
The ones I can think of:
1. Stock Android ( or close to it)
2. Quicker updates (already has 4.4.. and wont be as quick as Nexus, but faster than the non GPE)
3. Better dev support.
the G Pad (non GPE) on the other hand will have the Knock on and the IR blaster which the GPE won't.
Am I missing anything?
Will there be a huge difference in battery life? I usually disable OEM features that I'm not using.. so Q Slide, Slide aside and some animations will be disabled.

GPE has NFC. Edit: the Play Store page originally said that it had NFC, but that has now been removed. Must have been a typo.
I imagine the dev support will be more or less cross-platform given that they're on the same hardware, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

That's what I thought, but the page in the play store lists NFC as one of the features. Of course, it also doesn't list GPS, so it could just be a typo.

Can we say that the only difference is the android stock version (and its quicker upgrade)?
So if someone want to install a custom rom, the GPE and the non-GPE version are absolutly the same?
Buy gpad oem and wait for some time someone will definitely port g pad ge rom to oem gpad

My non-GPE doesn't have a noticeable blue line (or bad yellow tint, or strong light bleed), so it's not guaranteed that the GPE will have the same issue. Could have been a bad batch of screens.

Custom ROM? Or Wait and Pray?

Hey guys I love the stock but I'm in the mood for something new. So I'm wondering what do people think? Should I flash a ROM and which are good? Or wait and pray the AT&T and LG release the update soon?
