This is xda. Sooner or later one will be up. If you want a certain dev to jump, you might want to buy them a device. They seem to love that.

I'm more interested in kernels for CPU and GPU control.
I would like to see if the display colors can be modified like with the N4. If so, this will be particularly handy!

If I could properly get the kitchen set up to work with this, I would start playing around.

agree!bought nexus for the absence of proprietary-eat-ram-UI.hate all the stuff involved on the classic ui out there, likes touchwiz, sense, motoblur etc etc.
i don't know why lost hours and hours of development to try to port a thing(proprietary UI)that is the major reason why many users choose to buy a ggogle experience phone.i don't want to be rude, tastes are tastes, but i personally dislike all the uis out there.
anyway,if you desire that,i'm glad to will see that someone will have it workin!

Have to agree with you !
I used HTC phones for over 2 years (before GNEX), and i can say im sick of sense/touchwiz and rest manufacturer ui..
I bought this phone so i can make my own ui.
But if OP likes sense, its his taste/needs.. Good luck in finding sense on gnex mate

I have a Sensation running Sense 3.6/ICS and it's no where NEAR as fast as the Nexus on stock ICS
Okay so I had a Dinc2 before this and my dad just got the DNA... I really miss Sense haha
To get to the point: I am nowhere near a developer but I think I could port Sense to the Gnex if I had some help. If anyone is interested in trying to do this let me know!
I will probably try to get Sense from either the DNA or the X, the X has the same screen resolution so it may be easier... either way lets see what happens! I've already tried twice and it failed. Like i said... I'm no dev
I have the vzw Gnex so i'd start with a toro build and go from there if we can get it working properly!
You have way more important things to worry about than screen resolution...
People with more experience have tried and failed. Don't waste your time, but try if you really dare. Like the other guy said, the screen resolution isn't the only problem. It's probably the least most important issue.

sweet is far from an accurate depiction of it.
sense is far deeper than 'a skin'. its in the kernel, the modules, the drivers, everything....its a bloated version of android that needs to die.

A sense port would be fun to play around with, but it was attempted about a year ago, and ended up being abandoned. There is do much that is closed source in sense that it would be an uphill battle to get it working. It would basically take an htc sense developer to make this work... So who knows someone on the htc dev team?

Lol'd.....Seriously, though.
The unstoppable Sergio Schvezov is working on bug 1201811 right now. Once it's fixed this should put is into a position where users of devices for which we have Ubuntu Touch images (and not just the four devices we supported right from the start) can just use phablet-flash. This doesn't mean that they are "officially supported" or that they're built daily in the Canonical data centre, but that you can make use of the images much more easily.
Over time we still want to build more images in the data centre in a regular fashion. One of the big blockers there has been information about the redistributability of firwmare, blobs and closed kernel modules. If you have information about the licenses any of these, it'd be great if you could help with updating the Touch device pages.
On Thursday, 1st August we are going to hold a Ubuntu Touch Porting Clinic in #ubuntu-touch on irc.freenode.net where you will be able to ask all the questions you have and our local experts can help you with updating your image(s) to the new world order. We hope to see you there!

I try ubuntu touch for 2 days in my galaxy nexus (maguro) and i think it work quite well but it isn't for daily use yet.
There aren't bugs in that MobileOS (or I haven't found these bugs) but the biggest problem is the laggy (too much laggy because the kernel isn't optimized for UubuntuTouch). I appreciate the canonical's work and I wish I'll able to use this OS daily

Hey guys
I have this amazing tablet since a couple of week now..
I think the development has been kind of slow for a "nexus" device
what do you guys think?
Hard to get a lot of development going without a stable platform.
It's been through 3 updates since being shipped.
Remember, the first generation had a month or so head start, as there were a few hundred in the wild and the factory images released 30 or so days in advance of the retail launch.
There's stuff popping up... Just takes a bit of time...
Yeah I guess .. sooner or later roms like AOKP should pop up ..plus the European release just happened
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Yeah it's not officially launched in Sweden yet, I had to import which is no problem anyway.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Yep so we might start seeing better development in coming weeks
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Maybe it's not related with a stable platform
the nexus 7 has lots of hardware/software problems (wich have not been solved yet) maybe that's why.
and please dont ask for development, they wont hurry to make a kernel/rom just bec you make this thread
sorry if i look rude  but that's my opinion.
when i get mi nexus 7 2013 in september i wont start making a rom since first hours, i will first try it, enjoy it and when i get bored of the jelly bean 4.3 then i will make a rom.
maybe i am not the only one who thinks like this and that's why there aren't lots of projects so far.
--
and please, you have 4.3 android jelly bean, you want someone to make a port from a higher device? from a higher android version? wich one?
the devices who always have lots of development are for example an older device who gets a port from a higher one. or a good device wich has not many features.
anyway, you may be waiting for AOKP,CM,PA,etc.. just wait the good developers will release them soon.

They're not really planing on working on anything to release until the complete source drops. If we want to see it on the Note 3, then someone else has to work with that source for us. I tried building for a non Nexus device, but I never really figured it out.
Any way to get a dev to chime in?
Cm isn't planning on developing for the preview since they don't know how much the code will change by final release
There was someone here trying to port it but till now he was not able to. The way he explained it seems we have to wait for official release.
