Keeping data after update JB

I will probably update tomorrow to JB. I am stock and rooted with TWRP. Is there any way we can keep all data, set ups and update ? I did update last time with out loosing anything (even call logs and text ).
Is it possible?
I have Titanium pro too.

Yup. But still backup. It does occasionally hang at boot forcing you to reset.
I recommend using root66 via odin, or stock with mobile odin. Bothe are in the firmware thread in my sig.

[Q] Samsung-update through Odin?

Finally JB!
I'm on stock LH9 with root and CWM installed. Would it be safe to apply the update from Samsung-updates through Odin?
Safe meaning not losing info, texts, etc.?
Could care less about losing root.

I know you said you didn't care, but you can keep root by flashing this in Odin. I didn't lose any data.

I posted this in another thread, but thought you might find this helpful:
First of all, I appreciate all the Devs hard work bringing these Roms to us! :good:
I was running rooted UCALH9. Updated to this JB via Odin and all SEEMED good. Problems I had:
1) Play Store FC's - FIX - I went into Application Manager and removed updates for the Play Store app, which reverted it back to the default Play Store app. This fixed my problem. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT UNINSTALL!
2) Rom Manager - I would get root user authentication error when trying to Fix Permissions. Everything else in Rom Manager worked. No fix at this time.
3) Gallery - None of my pictures were showing up. This is even after clearing caches. I am convinced it's because I can't Fix Permissions, but what do I know... No fix at this time.
Any help would be appreciated!

boot into stock recovery / factory reset ( you will loose your data setup )
You don't need to do any boot into recovery stuff. I get this message every now and again (bone stock). Just reboot your phone and it's gone for a while.
Apparently Samsung is hyper-sensitive about their file system and if the root checker gets even slightly tripped, you get this message. Just do a simple reboot and it fixes it.
Did you disable any default apps ?
It happened with me too and was fixed by resetting to factory defaults which was annoying.
Also memory cards are suspected to change device status, check this thread.

I just got this phone today and I had the same problem, what I did was remove the memory card and reboot the phone, after this my device status was normal and I was able to update the phone.

OTA downloads but install fails

[First time posting]
I was able to download the 178MB update. Then instructed to restart, which works just fine. At the 27% completion, the update says "failed" and then the device restarts.
The device was once modded but I reverted back to stock. It is not rooted. Although, I just realized the "Device status" still says modified.
Anyone else experiencing something similiar?

Factory Reset to make you status normal. You could also plug into kies and back uo and reinstall stock firmware

Wouldn't I lose my apps and data by factory resetting?

Stock recovery error?

Hello all I'm having a weird issue that I am Not sure if its normal or not. I am currently un rooted un modified haven't done anything to the phone since out of the box it is fully stock. I boot into recovery and it says no command then says error then the options popup. When I click the option to clear cache it just says error and reboots without accomplishing the task. Although when I hit factory reset it works. Is this normal behavior? This is my second s4 and I recall being able to do this with no problems on my other device. But I'm not sure why it's giving me error in stock recovery just from trying to wipe cache.. Anybody can confirm this being normal?

I never had any problem like that with stock recovery. Have you updated to the MDL firmware?
Yea I'm on the latest stock firmware..all official no root nothing. Hasn't been touched. I got the phone like this. Factory resets work fine.. Its just clearing the cache says error and causes reboot
