Good luck with this. I will be following even though I dont have any interest in having Ubuntu on my phone unless maybe in a dual boot function.
Well eventually thats what im shooting for.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=889433 <-- this is the thread for the hd2
but eventually once a stable build is created i want to have dual boot feature so.
Hoping the best for this with dual boot, thanks in advance for your efforts :thumbup:

This will be fully native right? As opposed to ones that use a vnc server/client?
Yes this will be fully native and evenually dual boot. Once a stable build is ready for release

Erm... "kernel"
why just because you can? i will follow this for knowledge but don't see the point ... isnt ubuntu making a moblie version of the os themselves with a possible hardware phone too? i dont think it really has a place ... never the less i wish you good luck
ubuntu would be best for tablets not phone imo
I'm not putting a desktop version of Ubuntu on the phones. And yes but its based on android GUI and android code. I am doing this because it becomes an option..... something different . And I had an hd2 the idea itself and the actual build was pretty interesting. But think about a mobile true Linux device. All the possabilities

Also I want to make point of this Ubuntu mobile OS will be similar to android with an effing unity interface. Personally I hate the unity interface. By porting Linux Ubuntu this opens the doors for things like idk for ex programming custom gui's. Ha aha if somebody wishes a true mobile hacking unit lol not that I support this fashion of hacking. But again its DIFFERENT. But all in due tine need to get through my exams

If I can propose something, please have the RTL8187 module already built in with USB host active!
Can't wait to see development!!!!
If you need beta testers let me know! I'm more than happy to help with this project.
Awesome idea USB functionality I already incorporated and I will let everyone know on a beta

Also, provide kernel source and headers so if anyone who wants to build new modules/drivers it will be easier!
I would look at Backtrack-ARM too. I am running it in chroot but having native would be awesome! If we can find elite engineers to convert our broadcom wifi and make it monitor/injection working would be like the n900 but with way more power and bigger/better screen for mobile pentesting!

Hi everyone,
As you probably have heard, the Ubuntu Touch (alpha) image has been released for the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, 7 and 10.
I would like to request porting it to our N7100 devices!
If I could I would do it myself but I have never ported anything.. However, if I can help in any way I will gladly do what I can!
For reference:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
Since Galaxy S3 was one of the best-selling smartphone, I hope will be a port for it and consequentially for note 2 that has the same hardware platform
its not the place to Request a port.

big boooi no need to request, the porting instructions just came online and seem as "easy" as building CM from source.
its only natural that ports will be available on most devices.

Device = Note 2
Rom = Omega 12
([email protected] black,[email protected] pack)
Kernel = Perseus 32
(Cpu [email protected],Gpu [email protected])
Audio = AC!D + Noozxoide
There is no point of porting it currently, as most things don't work very well..
This is for devs, to test their apps. Not for users.. (yet )

I am aware of this.. But porting also has it's own malfunctions and problems. By porting an alpha release some of these problems can be solved before the stable release, was my thought

Thanks

You're right. Ubuntu Touch's based on CM10.1, which isn't even stable. You can imagine that Ubuntu Touch would/will be even worse as far as performance, battery life and that stuff is concerned. But not only that... Don't forget that the WFS is a 2 year-old phone with 3,5 year-old hardware. Even if you managed to port it successfully, it would just be a... "nice-to-have", but not a daily driver.
we can't port or build ubuntu touch because we don't have sufficient NAND for it.
Guys lets not be too hostile towards poor Mahesh. He wanted to create a thread that would help us. No need to start offending his idea. I suggest that some of you apologize.
Really sorry to disappoint him,unless Ubuntu touch has the ability to boot like android on sd card,I think it would be able to work! I am not sure if Ubuntu touch will support that.

It's not possible to know that for sure. I doubt LG will update us to the latest version of android, honestly. Latest custom roms? Sure. Until Dec 2014? I'm not a psychic so I don't know haha
And in theory yes, you can port roms...but I don't know how so...

There's already a good number os ports from Nexus 4 (Carbon, slim, xylon, EOS, Orca, PA, etc...) you can find them here:
http://main.develoid.com:82/lg/Optimus G/CustomRom/
So, probably you don't need to port ...Maybe update them
I'd love to help you with the port question but honestly I have no idea about how that works haha
Maybe this will help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223690

If you care so much about updates or a zillion of custom roms yeah.
If you want more storage, no on-screen buttons, LTE, better battery life, the possibilty to use a 100% LG Firmware with its fully functional gimmicks ( QSlide, etc. Might sound stupid but there's people that don't like AOSP ), you prefer the looks of the G, or simply you don't care about a zillion roms because you'll end up using a few at best, then not so much.
Also, I've had both phones on my hand and I don't know why ( because in theory they share the same display ) the Optimus G looked much sharper. Both were on stock, so I wonder if the N4 just has a ****ty calibration and needs a custom kernel to adjust it.
Thanks bro, I just change my rom once in 2 months or something like that but that rom had to be perfect..,

Will this phone last me a year from now without any lag on games and stuff?? Is 18,000 a good enough score?? Will it get all crappy in one year like my dads s3??? Please I need these answers.
Thank you guys

I found a port from MIUI for FLO to DEB on a russian board. It's working great, but only with WIFI support. Is it possible to add LTE/3G drivers to that? I know there is a port to Nexus 5 which has working LTE...

So four months later and nothing news about our device?
I start to feel sorry that i bought it. I should check first how is the development about it
Is any chance for MIUI for Nexus 7 LTE?
Gah....I want this to work....WITH LTE.....if I knew how I'd figure it out myself....
I've never used Miui before but am interested in helping you guys out with a port. Would this be an acceptable base? http://en.miui.com/download-213.html
Yep, this is a latest WiFi version ROM for now.
Also I found ported 4.7 ROM from WiFi to LTE without cellular functions. On 4pda.Ru forum. If it can help you I will share a link.

I have no wifi though which is weird. Have to dig into that. Ready to start adding radio files in. Also I need to find a way to configure the radio since the settings app doesn't have the option for that.
EDIT: Derped on the wifi. All fixed now lol.
Would be be nice to have a fully working rom
