Nexus 5 Battery Case - i-Blason vs Limefuel - Nexus 5 Accessories

With both these battery cases now up on Amazon (Limefuel one up for pre-order). I was wondering which one of these cases is the better buy.

I-Blason is cheaper, reflects sound front so i think iblason is better,

Or wait till the zerolemon is release then decide? They said they will release mid January but if they drag I'll probably pick up the limefuel one.

Why? Just cause its more expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's better. You wouldn't own the N5 if that was a the case.

Whoow don't get all hurt about it man, lol I like the way limefuel case is put together. It seem like a better design IMO. I don't recall saying it was better because its more expensive.

There is at least one video review of iblason case on YouTube. It's not as much a review, coz the video does not talk about how it performs. None for limefuel. I think I'll wait till some reviews come out, comparing the two. What I wonder is why the wireless charging technology not being taken advantage of for these cases? These cases make the phone too long and asymmetrical.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

In my experience, cases that clip together from the top and bottom (i-Blason) are much more durable than ones that clip together from the front and back (LimeFuel). Chipped holding teeth are common on the latter.
i-Blason is cheaper, but the LimeFuel touts a larger battery. We'll have to wait and see if the capacities (2860mAh vs. 2500mAh) are overstated, or even understated.

Also, limefuel, from the concept video, looks like it protrudes too much in front. But it is after all a concept video, so I guess we wait till a proper product review comes out.

Another significant difference seems to be that I-blason is 500mah output and limefuel says 1.5a or 3times faster charging. I-blason may not provide enough output to keep your phone charging during use, which means it won't save you if your internal battery is near dead and you need to keep using your phone, since it may not give the phone enough juice to run the phone during use and have any left over to charge the battery. This may have significant implications for how it affects your internal battery's life. A high output battery could be left on to avoid your internal battery from ever having to get cycled, whereas one with too low output may constantly go between charging and discharging your internal battery. I may go with the i-blason anyway since it says its available starting today and the price is lower, but it may take more managing its use to avoid negative effects on your internal battery and to avoid getting your internal battery low enough that it won't keep your phone running.

Sent from my white LG Nexus 5

I am waiting for the zerolemon to compare all three cases. From my research of the online reviews, it appears the ibasion and lime are nearly the same and the lime has slightly more battery. The lime seems to press a little on the glass screen protectors so if you have the defective spigen glass with the bubble, it should hold it down and the bubble go away. I haven't seen any reported issues stating this messes with the touch.
I had a casology case that would hold my spigen glass and it would cause my nexus 5 to not recognize my touches.
I figure I waited this long, I can wait another 3 weeks to compare all three cases against each other.

I bought an iblason, it arrived two weeks ago on the nose.
Worked great for 2 weeks.
Now when I plug it in it no longer charges. tried multiple charges, including one that lights up when it is providing power. It does not light up.
One persons experience, but for the cost, not exactly pleased.

How is this battery case compare with Zerolemon?

Official 2000mAH Battery w/ Back Cover Review

So I decided to purchase an extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus since the original (1750 mAH) battery didn't really live up to my expectations. The original battery gave decent battery life and kept the thickness of the phone to a minimum.
After receiving the battery from ebay member: mulkin, I had inspected the battery and confirmed that it was indeed the "official" extended battery for the GSM model.
I wasn't expecting the battery to come in a couple days since it was coming from South Korea, but it did take less than a week to get here to South California. Packaging was very nice and kept the battery and back cover well protected.

The extended battery cover that was included with the extended battery still has the same texture as the original. The phone also feels better with the new battery cover. The slight thickness it adds still maintains the phones low profile. The only thing it loses is the slight curve of the original battery cover right above the rear speaker. NFC works perfectly and isn't affected at all, it also works well if your using the stock battery with the extended back cover.
Overall, I am happy with the product. Battery life has definitely improved over the couple days I was using it. I am going to attach screenshots of the battery life I am getting, as well as pictures of the extended battery on the phone soon. If you have any questions, just leave a comment.
Thanks.
Thank you for the review with pictures. I have the battery as well, there is a existing thread in regards to this topic to anyone who wants additional information about this battery before making a purchase.
I personally purchased mines from shimshop.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Sam...Accessories&hash=item1c222d0cea#ht_4976wt_905
Also genuine, ~$36 ships from South Korea.. takes about 1.5 weeks. Negri also sells this battery as well but it's ~$50.

Thanks for posting this. I was also surprised how quickly this was shipped in from South Korea (to Montreal, CA).
Also, FWIW, my Otterbox Commuter and SGP Ultra Capsules fit perfectly with the new battery door and larger battery.
And to throw this out there, you can easily get through 24 hours of casual to moderate usage on this thing... And for heavy days, I reach 4 hours of screen on time with ~25-30% remaining (@12 hours unplugged).
Now to find a white extended battery door.

I also like the fact that - when you set your phone down (without a case), it lies perfect FLAT.
Depends on your own preference, but the aesthetics of it pleases me greatly.

I just ordered one myself today, looking forward to it

Only 4 hours on screen time? I average over 5 on mobile data with mine, pre 404. I need to do a rundown test to see how much now, probably closer to 6 hours. I do have auto brightness on though. The mah difference isn't huge, but I'll take all I can get and if it even gives a half hour more screen time then its worth it. Feels better in the hand too.

Could you take a picture of the "inside" of the battery cover please? Would be much appreciated... I'm still thinking about buying one for my phone.
I've done some research and it looks like the extra 250 mah will give you about a 14% boost in battery life. So, imagine as if you start out with ~114% battery life, as oppose to ~100%.
Hm... still undecided if that's worth the extra $36 and slight thickness added to the phone...

Anker 5200 mAh is released!

I guess manufacturers are learning from S3 success to release new accessories ASAP I see that Anker just released their 5200 mAh extended battery with either Dark blue or White battery covers, NFC support, and their typical 18-months warranty. Pretty good value for $17.99 shipped.
http://www.amazon.com/5200mAh-Exten...435&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+5200+mah+battery+s4
I can only judge by their S3 and N2 performance and reliability, and typically these batteries offer even slightly higher capacity than labeled. I know there was heated up discussions lol!!! about Anker vs Mugen and Hyperion in N2 forums, but just my own personal opinion because I review a ton of different accessories, I always find Anker and Mugen to be superior in quality over Hyperion (who often can't even meet the capacity they list on the label) and between Anker and Mugen - Anker has a much better value and longer warranty, besides Mugen hasn't even released extended battery for S4 yet.
Regarding other discussion about Zerolemon 3x capacity for S4, ZL just released their battery for N2 and working on rugged cases for N2, so it will take a while before they will have 3x capacity for S4. Look how long it took them to release it for N2, almost 6 months (but the wait was worth waiting for ).
So in my opinion, if you want good extended battery, go with Anker 5200 now and wait for ZL 7800 by the Fall time
i'd rather just buy a spare and swap it out if i need it... that way its not so bulky & i can use the case i want lol
Looks great. Hard to tell how bulky it really is compared to the size of the phone, but I think I may pick one up. If anything, it will be great for long trips.
If anybody picks one up can you please provide pictures on how it looks on the phone and how it works with the camera flash?

I have their Astro Slim2 and Astro 3E - been using for awhile, multiple charges and a few times it was a life saver for both my N2 and my wife's N7. One thing you have to keep in mind, something that is a fact with every external battery charger but only Anker spells it out in their manual - the actual capacity of external battery charger is about 30% less from the rated value because you have to take into consideration losses of converting from 3.7V its internal battery voltage to 5V USB interface which connectors to micro-usb port of your phone. Seems, other feedback on N2 forum about Anker external batteries has been positive, and I actually learned about the company by searching Amazon for top selling battery brands. Sorry, don't mean to turn this post into free advertisement for Anker (it's your money, I don't care how you spend it and what you buy ) just sharing my opinion because I review a lot of accessories and always look for a good price/performance ratio.
Btw, why didn't you use the warranty? You have 18-months given to you to get a new replacement for free. Go for it!!!
The reviews are not even for that extended battery.
Really anker...
What's with the first few reviewers on Amazon getting it for free in "exchange for honest feedback"... wha what?

Can someone tell me if Anker or other manufacturer has extended battery cases for their products. I know that Hyperion had one Honeycomb case especially for their extended battery for the S3.I emailed Hyperion about a TPU case for their 5200mha extended battery and they said they are in development presently.

How's the weight distribution post installation? Meaning does it have a tendency to slip?
Weight distribution looks fine to me. But you definitely need a case for this like what the hyperion had for their extended battery for the S3. I hope Anker would come up with a case for this.

I-Blason case battery pack

Just received this today from Amazon for about $65. So far I love it. Nice styling, does not add a lot of bulk, feels good to hold, leds and a push button switch on the back and a functional kickstand. Beautiful and the price was right. I'll repost here if I find any issues but doubt I will.
My main question for you guys is how long does it take to fully charge up the phone and from what percentage did you start charging and does it charge while using the phone?
I'm extremely concerned about the 500mA output. But I'm interested in the case cause of the styling and the kickstand.

They're also known as external battery packs or portable batteries. Whatever you call it, they amount to the same thing-- an external (usually rechargable) battery with a USB output that usually provides 1.2V current, enough to charge most phones (more ambitious ones can sometimes sport 2.0V ports for tablet charging).

I personally have never heard of them referred to as battery banks, so much as portable batteries. But to each their own.
Back on topic, the reviews seem nice, but I am interested in the charge life. The output doesn't concern me altogether much, as if the pack can either charge my phone on idle or slow burndown it will suit me just fine (I don't think I'd be using such a case incredibly regularly either).

On the 500mA side of things if you are running heavy tasks the battery % will drop faster obviously. But you have enough juice that it will help to have the case on as after the heavy usage is over then the case will trickle charge and provide plenty of juice from then onwards. The only real issue is whether the internal battery is used first. If this is the case and you fully use up the internal battery then the trickle charge will take a while to bring it back up again. If it's pulling charge from both batteries at the same time this should not be an issue. Perhaps it's best to email the company and ask?

I think people are asking because the mophie Juice Pack is rated at 1.5A, meaning it'll drain out its case battery charging the phone before the phone battery comes into play at all (if you set it up that way, of course).
So ive had this case for a while and I should note a few things. It seems to scratch easily. Doesnt bother me but may bother some. There is an edge around the entire thing, it collects dirt easily and is more difficult to clean. Not hard but not something that can just be wiped down anywhere. It seems to make a glare when taking pictures with the flash.
On some good notes it works great and feels great. I turn mine on as soon as I take the phone off the charger. I find it works better that way then having to power the phone and charge the battery. When I turn it on immediately it will last a good 8-12 hours. If its also charging the phone it only lasts a couple hours.

I'm just worried about the fitment and how the white case will age.
Just ordered it in white. I'll take some pics and do a short review when it arrives. Estimated delivery is this Thursday.
It would be amazing to have that much battery, but I don't want to lose the Qi charging. I use Qi at home each night or at work if I skip the night charge.
If there was an extended battery that came with a replacement door with Qi built in, I would likely jump all over it.

I could probably retrofit the charging coils from the folio cover to the back of the Zero Lemon case but that would take forever to charge. Does anyone know how long it takes to charge the stock 3140mah battery from dead to 100% using Qi?
Mine finally came in the mail after 4 business days. My initial impressions are that the phone is pretty big now and the extra heft makes it even harder to wrap your hand around the device for one handed use but it's doable. The buttons are very easy to press with the included case wrapping the phone which is a relief, however the case itself seems to have a slightly too loose fit for my taste. I just got done charging the phone up from about 65% to 100% (which took around 1:45). I know the manual, back of the battery and the included business / please rate us 5 stars on Amazon card (which all came in a nice zip-lock type bag inside a bubble padded envelope) say to charge the device for 5+ hours but It's been at 100% for 45 minutes now and the voltage has steadied around 4.3V. I'll be sure to update this post after I get some test data.

For anyone following this I posted updates on the thread over on android central. Got about 9 hours of screen time and just under 2 days off the first charge.

I'm surprised no one talks about the weight of the battery because the without it is so light
I wonder we can gain lightness by changing the battery
I also would have bought the battery if it could charge wirelessly. I love being able to just drop it on my nightstand at night and when I am in my office just set it down to charge.
Mines should arrive tomorrow. Anxious to get these charge cycles going. Also ordered a leather holster case that's super sized and should fit this phone with its extended battery.
Can someone post a comparison pix of stock thickness vs. One with extended zero lemon battery?

Its huge..lol but I expected that. I had the 7200mAh one for Galaxy S3. So I'm use to the extra weight & thickness.
The tradeoff will be worth it. Ive barely used my galaxy note 10.1 since I got this phone. Or my Nexus7. Its really like a mini tablet. Last night I ordered me some HD screen protectors & a universal camera lens kit(fish eye, macro, wide angle).
It arrived today! I like the black tpu case it came with. Plus I like the extra weight. It feels more secure now and not slippery. For my type of heavy usage, this battery is exactly what I needed. Time to charge this up.

[Updated] Anker 7200mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. ZeroLemon 7000mah

Hey Fellas,
I am a part of Ankers Power User Program and will be reviewing /testing this product for them. I will provide dimensions, runtimes, heavy usage, real-world usage, ect.
Additionally, I will run a side by side comparison using same phone/ same tests. I just ordered my ZL 7000, now that it is in stock again.
****DISCLAIMER****
I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and promised that my review would be fair and honest.
Here are some stock pics.
Review continued on next page.

WOOOW. As soon as I ordered my zerolemon and it already shipped out. This looks like it has a much more beautifully designed case and much thinner! I might as well order given the extra 200mah
Did this literally release today? I went through my whole weekend researching different extended batteries and debated myself which one I should get. Thickness is my biggest concern with the lemon
edit: it seems the dimensions are basically the same. But i may still go with this as it looks 10x better than the tpu case from zerolemon
wow... this is really thinner than my zerolemon case....and 7200mAh...
off to amazon.com! to get me one
The lack of nfc is a little disappointing, but it's so big! I'll probably pick one up since the zero lemon disappeared.
I believe this released for sale on Amazon Sunday night 12/15

May have to give this one a try. I'm using the yasoo 4200 extended battery and thinking of getting a bigger battery to see how long it really lasts with my usage. Will report back with details.

This case looks amazing compared to my zerolemon one.. but I still love my zerolemon case.
Ordered it yesterday and get it today, let you guys know how it turns out. got it because zero lemon disappeared so hopefully this one turns out good!
Do you guys think the Laza Samsung Galaxy S3 RuggedFusion Protective Case for Extended Battery or any other quality protective case would fit with this battery? Or will the TPU case that it comes with be enough protection?
I got one as well as part of the poweruser group. I'm just received it today and will be posting some pix in a couple minutes

I am not sure any other case will fit. I looked at the zero lemon otterbox like case and the anker has some sort of a raised plaque on the outside that I don't think would be compatible. I put some pictures in my thread if you are interested.

If you are on Verizon go ask for an nfc sim for isis. I got one in January, and so far $25 free from whoever had their prepaid option before and I think they have a new promotion with Amex serve for 20%cash back plus nfc even with this battery.

I Just orderes waiting to come. i will write my experience
Hows the fit of the case over the phone and battery?
its really nice. i have pix in my thread if you are interested. seems like a durable and safe case for the phone
First Impressions......
The Anker 7200 is very well packaged, and the amount of thought that went into it really shows. The box is high quality and branded accordingly. The battery and case are enclosed in a plastic sleeve, then placed into a form fitted plastic tray with lid. Instruction manual, warranty card and power user info included.

The case......
The case fits battery and phone nicely. The fit is snug, but not ridiculously hard to attach like some tpu cases. It is also the smallest and thinnest of the cases I have used. Compared to the Trident and Otterbox, it is the smallest /thinnest. The TPU material is rigid, and would seem to offer good drop protection. In comparison to the Otterbox TPU, the Anker TPU feels more durable, and likely to be penetrated by sharp objects during a fall.
The buttons are responsive and easily identified. The finish of the case is nice, the back being glossy and smooth-matched by a matte border to facilitate grip. The case feels good in the hand and surprisingly not slippery-due to matte case border.
I personally like the look of the case, but the shiny back is prone to smudges and fingerprints. While it makes it easy to slide in and out of your pocket, Im sure that I will be constantly wiping it down ( I'm a bit neurotic like that ).
I currently run the otterbox modded with the Anker 4400. I use this primarily because I need a holster M-F. However, I can see myself using this Anker case on the weekends- sliding nicely into my back pocket.
Suggestion......
It would be nice to see a holster/case option for this battery similar to Zero Lemon.
Perhaps a matte option with knurled edges?
The battery......
The battery is very impressive to look at, not only the size of it, but Anker also added an a rather thick acrylic plaque for branding / or spacing purposes / protection? Whichever purpose it is supposed to serve, it does look nice.
The battery arrived at 50% and I put it on to charge 100% before use.
The battery and phone assembled is about the same size as the ZL7000.
ZL7000-
Length 13.9cm
Width 7.3cm
Thickness 1.6cm
Weight ??
Anker7200-
Length 13.9cm
Width 7.1cm
Thickness 1.7cm
Weight 9.8 oz with phone
The battery took 6hrs to charge on my ext charger. I have both the ZeroLemon ext. Charger and the Anker ext. Charger.
While they both appear to look the same, and have the same outputs:
USB Output: 5.0v 1000mA
Charger Dock Output: 4.2v 600mA
The Anker charger would not fully charge the battery-max88%. I completed the charge with the ZL ext. Charger.
I discharged and recharged for 1 cycle. It took 11hrs 50 mins to recharge on the ext. Charger. It will obviously charge faster on USB -1000ma. Vs 600ma-and I will post the USB charge time once acquired.
The battery was drained using juice offender / and gps test.
Screen brightness set to 100%
Wi-fi, Blue Tooth and GPS all on.
This battery is amazing. The phone was on continuously for 17hrs 10 minutes, with a screen time 8hrs 23 minutes! I played games, browsed the web, played music, made calls, sent emails all the while!
I'm going to discharge one more time under normal real world usage.
Auto dim, Wi fi when at home, bt in car, and normal emails games and music.
I will perform one more rapid drain, using the same apps and usage for final comparison.
My understanding about batteries of this size is that they need to be cycled a couple times for cells to normalize.
Its easy to see that there is some kind of voltage fluctuation in this battery. At 85% the battery had a 2% variance and at 65% a 1 % variance.
I have to say, I am very pleased with the results thus far, and am curious as to how it will perform under normalized conditions.
Stay tuned!
FYI- As of this update, 1.2.2014 the battery is on sale for $31.99 Amazon.

indeed it looks big. by mistake, does the zerolemon battery focus on the same performance? 7200 or something similar?

Well, we will find out soon. I'm going to run side by side comparisons using my stock unrooted s3 on 4.1.2
Stay tuned.
