Hello,
HTC Desire got applied pressure on screen and it went dark. Nothing cracked. Still could answer calls and power phone down using touchscreen.
Then it was laying in a drawer for about a year.
After I tried to power on again(without SIM card) the lcd kind'a lighted up, vibrated once and after a while buttons lighted up, but there was nothing on screen. Pressing power button just turned button lights on and off.
So, obviously, I thought let's get that screen replaced :good: As it turned out, I ordered Samsung AMOLED screen, but apparently, mine was SONY picture (bad quality, shaky-shaky hands)
New screen doesn't light up when I power on phone, but it still vibrates once and then buttons lights up.
Checked all the connectors, reassembled many times, but it's still the same.
p/n is 99HKZ010-00 which should have amoled, right?
Should I try my luck and order exactly the same screen(SONY) and hope that there isn't any other fault, like faulty board or connections?
The box doesn't say if its amoled or super tft. Just 3.7-inch touch-sensitive screen.
Update:
well I can just delete myself
phone kinda works - I can start it, get pass lockscreen, can hear UI sounds when I press somewhere, in fastboot mode it gets detected..
So, I guess I just have to get right lcd replacement thingy and rock on!

Theres ur answer. If it doesnt say anything then its lcd. If it were amoled it would say 3.7-inch touch-sensitive AMOLED screen.
I hope that amoled display didn't fry or anything

I've used XDA for all of my phones, dash, tp2, HD2 and I appreciate all the help. My son has a Dash and "all of a sudden" (you know how kids are) the screen is only white. It currently has the latest Energy Rom 11/2009 release. I tried manually getting into bootloader mode by taking out the battery, putting it back in then holding down the camera button while I plugged in the usb. The screen stays white but Windows Mobile Device recognizes the phone. I tried flashing Energy Rom again but get error 270, again the phone never goes into bootloader mode the screen stays white. I also tried getting into bootloaded mode by just holding down the camera button and turning the phone on with no luck. I downloaded MyMobiler and can see on my pc screen what I can't see on my son's phone. Using MyMobiler I managed to "Clear Storage" (Hard Reset) but the screen still stays white. Any ideas? I appreciate all your help!
I think it's hardware, something on your lcd maybe loose.

More than likely need to take it apart? That sucks! The LCD lights up, but nothing is displayed. Anybody else getting this?

I think so, since you can view your screen through MyMobiler right?. Try to reflash your stock rom, if that doesn't work....that will sustain my diagnosis.
Good Luck

Backing Mr. Gmaniac up:
http://www.crackedlcdrepair.com/how-to-replace-the-lcd-screen-on-a-t-mobile-dash/169/
If your screen is white then the lcd cable probably is not seated all the way.
Follow this guide and just reseat your lcd cable instead of replacing the lcd screen.
What about the "crazy" posibility of water damage? Have you checked the sticker on the battery?
Hello Don Clown!!

Thanks for your advice guys! Yes I can see the entire phone on MyMobiler, the buttons work and all.
I thought water damage at first but the indicator is still white.
I'll start taking her apart, thanks for the responses.
if lcd is not broken its most probably the flex ribbon a little loose. i have seen this a lot on this device. be careful with the housing, it can brake easily.
So my screen hasn't been working for awhile (the backlight will light up but there is only black), but the phone still works; I can play music when I press where "play" should be on the lock screen, and etc. I've only recently decided to try and replace it.
I ordered a screen from eBay and it arrived today... here's where it gets interesting. After replacing my old LCD screen with the new one, the screen no longer lights up. I took it apart again and made sure I didn't miss any connections, but everything seems in the right place. Does this mean the problem is not the screen? Or maybe a faulty replacement screen? Any ideas?
Hey guys, I cracked the screen on my HOX so I replaced the screen with a unit from directfix.com
After double checking all of the flex cables I tried to power the phone on and I am getting nothing from the screen and the vibration motor is constantly buzzing.
The only signs of life is the red LED, the three capacative buttons will light up, and the aforementioned constant vibrating. If i hold the power button to attempt to turn it off the buttons blink several times then it seems to stay on after that.
Has anyone heard of a problem like this before? Its killing me not having my HOX! I had to put my sim card in my old iphone 3gs and I have to say that this sucks really bad.
Are you sure you've connected everything correctly? It sounds like there's something being shorted! I'd recommend you to dissassembly again, an assembly again BUT THIS TIME VERY CAREFUL. Best is if you use a video tutorial if you think you're not experienced enough.

Thank you for the advice. I disassembled the phone and carefully put it back together. I took care to make sure the flex cables for the LCD, vibrator/button strip, antenna, volume buttons and digitizer were all carefully connected.
Now the vibrate function seems to work fine as it just gives me a short pulse when I turn the phone on as it usually does. The screen however, still refuses to turn on. I made extra sure that its flex cable was put in the right way and that it was secured with the jaw bone connector.
This video here www youtube com/watch?v=OIeO0DueMcg&feature=youtu.be at about 6:00 shows that you can test the LCD midway through the assembly process.
I tried exactly that and the LCD would still not turn on. I am just hesitant to return it because I know that the chances of the screen being a complete dud are very slim.
Now when the phone is turned on the three capacitive buttons remain on which I know didn't used to happen.

Update: So I was thinking the phone was booting up all the way, but I just saw that my computer won't recognize the phone beyond making a connection sound; I just can't see it in windows. As i said the capacitive lights stay on, but if I fold the power button they blink 15 times exactly and the phone seems to power off. Should I assume the SoC is dead or gamble with a replacement LCD?

Hi, I'm in the exact same situation you have described above! Did you ever manage to work it out, what was the solution? Any info or help at all would be great, thanks!!
I did replace my lcd+digitizer as well as yous. And I had same problem. But it does work now.
1.open up your phone . Take all parts off, separated.
2. Take battery off.
3.Now connect power button.
4. Connect battery.
5.Switch it on (hold pwbt for 2sec), mobo+battery+power button itself.
6.Now wait 20 sec.
7.Now connect LCD ribbon(bottom one),make sure it's right in, push it in far as you can.
8.Now put it righ on bezel and connect digitizer ribbon.
9.Press pwbt and see does it work. If does put rest of stuff together and be happy.
I can make phototutorial on request.
I did it few times. The battery was touching the LCD ribbon and it comes of very little but screen comes off and I have to start all over again.
So make sure that ribbon it's not getting any pressure from battery.
Let me know does that help.

Hi There,
I bought a Spring LG G2 LS980 on ebay with an non-working backlight with cracked screen. At the moment, I thought that the screen was broken beyond the LCD and that replacing the Screen, LCD and Backlight it would work. So I bought a new screen and replaced it like any other G2, but now the phone turns on and sounds tell me the phone is working and responding to my touch, but I can't see anything! The status LED is my only indication if the phone is off, booting, on or charging. Is this a software issue or am I gonna have to replace more chips? Thanks,
Sincerely,
Sohaib
EDIT: So i did some testing around, and it seems like the flex assembly with the power buttons gets super hot when the phone is supposed to be on. When I press on the lower right contact between the screen and the assembly, the backlight flashes for a moment, so it looks like the connector is damaged. It is a hardware issue. Thanks,
-Sohaib

hello ! i think im in same situation right now. can you help me about what parts you have replaced thank you!
TMobile HTC G2
Ok so my friend dropped his phone and his screen went black. Everything still works; turns on, buttons are responsive, digitizer works. Screen has nothing on it though.
Took it all apart, cleaned out all the dust, reseated all the cables and still nothing. Tried booting into pwr+vol down but still nothing on the screen. So I figured most likely suspect and ordered an LCD screen. Replaced the screen and still nothing.
Do you think I should call "DOA" on the screen? or do you think there is another issue going on here?
Please help, thank you.
The main flex cable is a likely suspect
Thank you that would be the next thing I replaced. I just seen so many posts with this same issue I figured maybe there was some secret goldcard this, calibrate that lol
