Hi, I upgraded from 4.2.2 firmware .67 (rooted it and installed dual recovery(good times)), but now I don't want to downgrade because this version is much much better than all of the others I have used on this Xperia.
Thanks.

I have tried changing the kernel to .423 because there is a root for that, but the phone went into the boot loop so I had to quickly change back to the original kernel.

Give it a go
Even though it's for the 6503 it should work fine for the 6506. I did it on my 6506 and I've had no issues.
Just flash the 2.67, root through the older kernel, install the XZDualrecovery and follow the procedure on the link. I've had no issues with this process, I even kept LTE access working! All along with root and my precious Xposed Module!

Hi Could u please tell me how you rooted your device, cause I am kind of confused about it.
Thanks.

I have the .ftf file, not the zip file that I can flash from recovery (Are u able to flash a .ftf file from recovery, without using the flashtool? Because flashtool completely erases the phone's storage and even the recovery)

What FTF do you have?
If you are talking about the 4.2.2 Android version for the 6506 then you are correct it can only be flashed through flashtool and since you would currently be on 4.3 a full flash erasing all on the phone will be needed.
But if you have by any chance a backup image of your phone from the 2.67 version (made with CWM or other recovery). You could restore it after flashing the full 4.2.2 FTF and rooting.
In case you don't have any backup available from older versions, it will be very difficult to backup without root. But you could try Helium:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup
Or even the built in app from Sony called "Backup and Restore" it says it backups both APK and user data. So I guess it's worth a try.

Can someone tell me the difference in the c5603 and the c6506? The firmwares I mean I'm in Canada and if.I use the.c5603 files my lte will be alright?

As you said, the main differences between the two is LTE band frequencies. According to GSM arena this is how the two compare:
4G Network
LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - C6506
LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 - C6503
So as long as your LTE is within the bands the 6503 provides, you'll be OK. In my case (Mexico Telcel) it's 2100, so with the 6503 ROM I still got LTE working as good as before
Take a dive through google and find the LTE band for your provider and you'll get your answer. Good luck!:fingers-crossed:

Maybe you should try about this way =D

Steps to Root from .569 Locked BL
1. Backup via Backup/Restore
2. Downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2.2 (Clean install) using flashtool
3. Reboot
4. Root via Bin4ry (Root Many Android V.33), option 0
5. Install Dual Recovery (as per Nut's thread)
6. Flash 569 zip/su fix (dual recovery)
7. Power off
8. Flash stripped 569 using flashtool
9. Reboot
10. Restore backup.
So: no need to unlock bootloader/backup TA partition
Reason: Did not want to unlock, could not backup TA because I had no root.

Three threads... Find the correct ftf for your device (6502, 6503 or 6506) for 4.2.2, Bin4ry's thread (Google "Root Many Android", V. 33) and Nut's thread for 569 zip update.

isnt there another way to root 4.3 as easy as it was for 4.2 ?
it was easy to root with 4.2 with easy rooting kit or one click root but now it looks like pain in the arff...go back to 4.2 and dual recovery and so on...
man, like ive said in earlier threads......gee i hate this phone ! hahaha

Another way ?
So....
Anyone knows another way to root ?
A more easy way ?

Initially I was using the 4.2.2 version from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459497
It's good for the 6506 and it has no Telcel garbage! Then I upgraded to 4.3 following the procedure and files of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567266
Of course you need both root and XZDualboot Recovery to upgrade this way.
All of this is if you want to have 4.3 rooted, if you just want 4.3 on Telcel you can easily flash the latest ftf from the development thread for the 6506. You would have a factory default phone afterwards of course, with no possible way to root it.

here's the other link i posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48805157#post48805157
here's how. (my device is locked BL)
LINKS UPDATED!! (recovery)
1.Backed up my TA Partition
2.Flashed the official .569 ftf using flashtool
3.Unlocked my ZL's bootloader
4.Flash this kernel to get recovery (thanks Minthun46) http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=700#downloads extract the boot.img and flash it using fastboot or flashtool (fastboot mode)
5.Flash Supersu fix zip and dual recovery (thanks NUT) SUPERSU fix.zip http://nut.xperia-files.com/download.php?dlid=U3VwZXJTVV9maXg=
recovery that i used http://nut.xperia-files.com (download the latest flashable zip for ZL)
6.Re flash .569 ftf exclude everything except kernel and fotakernel.
7.Restore TA Backup.
FOR UNLOCKED BL
just follow step 2, 4, 5, and 6
VOILA!!! device is now rooted and has working recovery
PS
Will only work for ZL that can be bootloader unlock.
Hit thanks if it helps you.
Don't put Locked BL in the title, you only managed to root because your phone was unlockable. Putting Locked BL in the title states that your bootloader can also be locked for this method to work, and but unless your ZL can be bootloader unlocked, this method cannot be used for locked BL

The first file is the unmodified version and can be flashed with flashtool (there's no root).
The other is the exact same process as in Nut's thread, (files were created with his tutorial). Earlier you needed to flashback to 4.2.2 because there was no root on 4.3 and therefore no DualRecovery. If you have recovery, then just flash the zip, poweroff and flash the stripped ftf. Same process...nothing is different.

The official version simply flashes your phone back to stock by removing root and recovery. If I ever sale the phone, ill use that file to restore everything back to factory.
Steps for flashable version:
1 - Since you are already rooted and I assume you have recovery, upload the flashable zip on your SDCard
2 - Flash the ZIP using recovery and power off WITHOUT rebooting
3 - Flash the stripped FTF using FlashTool
Boot your phone and you're done
What if my phone is not rooted, bootloader is locked and is on .569 (4.3) version?? Thanks.

My bootloader is locked too and is unlockable (at the moment), bootloader isn't important. If you want root on your 569, you have no choice, you need to flash back a stock FTF 4.1.2 or 4.2.2. whichever version works with DoomLord's 1 click root method. Once that is done, you install recovery and flash the zip via recovery, power off phone, flash stripped FTF via Flashtool and you're back on rooted 569.

Which firmware did you flash back to? 10.3.1.A.0.244
1 - Flash 244 FW
2 - Flash Kernel from 423 and reboot phone
3 - Root using "DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit"
4 - Flash back Kernel from 244
and then go on with installing recovery to perform next steps to go back on rooted 569
It has to work, I did a million times!
If your stuck on a bootloop right now, just flash back the whole 244 FTF. it will put you back on full stock.

You can do it with the 67 as well. Process is the same so either 244 or 67.
I always use Titanium Backup to make a backup of all my apps/games, I have the paid version coz I have about 100 apps and don't feel like restoring them 1 at a time afterwards.
I just got an OTA notification about the new 10.4.1.B.0.101 on my phone. Ill probably be creating the files for this one tonight, so maybe you should wait another day before flashing the 569 .... 101 is newer. :victory:

[Q] Can C6506 - 10.4.B.0.569 Be Unlocked And Rooted

I have an Xperia ZL C6506 - 10.4.B.0.569

Is there anyway to work around this and unlock it anyway? If not can I still root my phone?
If so please advise as to how. I looked on the forums but most posts relate to unlocked bootloader or

You can root it and install recovery. Unfortunately you cannot unlock the bootloader.
This means that you can only flash stock based Roms, not any AOSP Roms like cyanogenmod, aokp, omni, p.a.c, etc... More specifically, you can only flash stock kernels. The ROM is Dependant on the kernel you are using. Stock kernel for stock Roms. Aosp kernel for aosp based Roms.
With Sony's devices (as of late anyway), the kernel is baked into the boot.IMG. And you can only alter, change, or flash a custom boot.IMG if your bootloader is unlocked. Sucks, but that's how it is.

Thanks for the info.
At least I can still root the phone which at this point was my primary interest.
As I mentioned I have not seen any rooting info for my particular build or model together. Am I missing something?
Did I not see it or has no one done it yet for this build/model setup.
Where would you suggest I go from here?

You need to downgrade to .423 stock kernel. Use Androxyde's Flashtool to flash that kernel.
Then use Doomlord's Rooting Toolkit to root your phone.
After that, flash the .569 kernel with Flashtool.
Now you can install NUT's dualrecovery.
Here are the steps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388946
At point 11. you flash the .569 kernel..
I have successfully rooted my phone.
However I can't figure out how to get it back to .569
Do I need to use the Flash and Stripped version(This seems to be linked to rooting)
Or can I just use this

Edit:
On a side note will I be able to update to 4.4 Kitkat when it is released for my phone by the normal download
or will I have to flash it to keep the root?
Edit:
So I tried flashing the Full FTF but ended up losing root. I tried to do the other option of using the flash/stripped version but it says I need TWRP and there
is no version for the ZL only the Z. Will the Z one work or am I going about this the wrong way.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks.

Hey,
There is recovery for the ZL, you can get it from Nut's site here http://nut.xperia-files.com/
Looks like his latest recovery is called "ZL-lockeddualrecovery2.7.95-BETA.installer.zip (9.35MB)" at the moment.
If you flash my build 569 and lost root then you used the untouched FTF from Sony and makes your phone completely stock.
What you wanna do is flash back to an old 4.1.2 that will let you obtain root with DoomLord's 1 click method.
Once root is on your phone, install Nut's DualRecovery from the link I just gave you.
Download my 2 files (stripped FTF and flashable zip) and copy the flashable zip on your SDCard.
Now reboot into recovery and flash the flashable zip, once it flashes successfully, power off your phone. DO NOT Reboot.
Use Flashtool and flash the stripped FTF and boot your phone.
You will be on rooted build 569 with root and dualrecovery already installed. :good:

It was also suggested to me for my Xperia tablet that if you already had root and simply wanted to update, all you have to do is:
1) copy zip to SDcard
2) go into recovery and install zip (without wiping anything)
3) turn off phone
4) flash kernel via flashtool
But I haven't tested this way
Thanks Crash338 that worked
I now have a rooted phone with .569

[SS/DS]Upgrade/Restore/UnlockBL/Root(Tested on Dual)

Hello guys, I just want to share the steps on how my Xperia M[dual] is rooted and has its bootloader unlocked for about 2weeks dating to this post. I updated my XM to 4.3 and missed the benefits of a rooted android so I found a way to root it(During that time rooting on locked BL was still impossible). But upon searching methods and asking people on how to. I discovered a way on how to root my phone and unlock my bootloader and learned something that will make you feel confident on tinkering with your device.
So basically, Im not pertaining on rooting on this thread but upon reading the steps you might learn something that I also learned
This is for those Xperia M users who upgraded to 4.3 who wants to:
Downgrade to 4.1/4.2 and UnlockBootloader
Root their XM[Unlocked Bootloader][Dual]
Create Firmwares from their own country.
Also to create backups
First. let's assume you are in 4.3(locked bootloader)and doesnt know anything about FTF's and backups and willing to do anything just to install apps that requires root permissions. Just like me
Here are the steps.
1.Make your own 4.3 FTF file from SUS. The FTF from here is for your own country
Here's the guide on how to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/general/guide-how-make-ftf-stock-firmware-sus-t2075736
2.Flash a FTF file with lower android version. You can search the appropriate FTF file for your device in Xperia M android development.
Here's the guide on how to:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697277Step 3 will be focusing on unlocking your bootloader. You can read it (if you want to root) or just skip it (if you're only concerned on backups) and proceed to other steps
3.Root your phone while running in 4.2.2 android version and unlock your bootloader.
Search the forum on how to root 4.2.2/4.1 you need to be rooted to unlock your bootloader. Here's the guide for unlocking BL:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484622Note: Don't install any kernel for now just stick to stock kernel to avoid issues because we will be upgrading back to 4.3. If you read step 1 you definitely have your own FTF backup :highfive:
4.Flash the FTF file from step 1 and now youre back to 4.3 with UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, TA-BACKUP, 4.2.2 &4.3 FIRMWARE :highfive:
5.Optional StepThis method is strictly for XM Dual users only, because the kernel in the link provided here is the stock kernel xm dual 4.3 with CWM integration. For XM single users just search you own stock kernel with CWM if you want CWM
Follow the last 2 steps provided here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51559161&postcount=30
By now you have the knowledge on how to fix your own device. Example: If you got bootloop by flashing tweaks or kernels you can just flash your own FTF file to have a fresh start again. :victory:
Proof that I did this also. This is a private conversation of me and ansebovi

[GUIDE][Unlocked BL][Update and Root Xperia ZL KK 4.4.2]

Guys just sharing how I updated my ZL to the latest KK 4.4.2 and ROOT, in case someone is interested. Total time it took me around 2hrs using 10MB connection.
1. Downgrade to 4.2 Nordic version. Optional if youre 4.3 is already in Nordic.
2. Relock bootloader.
3. Use SUS to download and install the 4.4.2 update.
4. Decrypt and create your own FTF from the files downloaded by SUS.
5. Unlock bootloader.
6. Flash CM11 KK boot.img using fastboot.
7. Boot to CWM, flash supersu update zip to root the phone
8. Relfash STOCK Sony Kernel using the FTF created in step4.
9. Enjoy ROOT access.
10. Optional - relock bootloader.
Disclaimer - by following the steps, your warranty is VOID now. BUT you get to have the latest version of Android, ROOT and customization for your phone. I have made necessary backups to restore everything to STOCK, including DRM keys in case I need to go for warranty.
Edit - i'll update later with download links for flashtool, SUS, CM11 bootimg, chainfire supersu update
Additional screenie for fastboot commands -
2 questions, I'd love to do this, but...
1. Where can I find this nordic version? Is this an ftf somewhere?
2. How do you relock the bootloader? Is there something available? I can't seem to find it...
where i can find this supersu update zip? it comes with KK CM11?
