Hello!
Can anyone here alot of hardware issues?
I got a major problem...
When i changed my broken screen on my Xperia Acro S the screen lost its backlight. Everyting works flawlessly exept the backlightning that is not turning on. changing the screen brightness doesent do a thing nothicg changes (but in a dark room i can see everything but not strong). I tried to reassemble with old screen and that one now also got no backlight.
The 3 led lights for the buttons works flawlessly... are they also used to power the screens backlightning in some way?
Have i blown some component on the motherboard? if so what kind should i look for? A broken condensator?
Read somewhere on the forum about a person having similar problem on an Xperia S. Tried the fix/fixes he was recomended = Removing battery and holding down power button then reassemble all the screws before testing phone.
Is there some sensors (that feels if phone is correct put togheter) that controll the backlightning that i can have accedentaly corrupted?
I have tried to reset the phones software but no backlightning
Thanx for any help in advance!
B.regards
Christofer =)

Hello. I have a problem with the backlight of my xperia S. Today I disassembled the phone because of a problem with the sim card slot, but then the backlight of display and the bottom transparent plastic stopped working. I see that the display is showing something and touch is working fine, but no light. Everything seems to be plugged correctly. Please help asap..

just removing the lcd flex cable doesnt solve the problem..do the process in three steps
step1: remove battery pin(inbuilt battery) or remove battery..then press the power button for 5seconds..and then putin the battery..
step2:remove the lcd flex cable and the touch equiliser pin also..remove the battery pin(if inbuilt battery)..or simply remove battery..do every thing in the same process..dont jumble..after doing that..again press the power button for 5 seconds again..and putin the battery
step3:now assemble the entire mobile again with screws..because there are certain connections with motherboard and screen which will come in contact only after placing them tightly with screws
now poweron the mobile..this time it works..
the main reason is the failure of inductor component on the mother board(cant tell the accurate component name)..

Nope it doesn't worked..
100% my very same problem
I can confirm this problem was fixed by this
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f261/xperia-s-lt26i-no-light-solution-1655166/
But for god's sake, be careful with tinning. A drop too much and you have a shortcut.
EDIT: intriguingly, I noticed I have another close up photo of basically the same area (please, don't bother with oxidation trails).

So i just bought a new screen and put it. There was only one connector so that seemed simple enough. However, none of the capacitive buttons work now. The rest of the screen works just fine, has any1 ran into this problem before? any ideas on things to try?
Thanks.
Hello,i bought (lcd+glass) whole new display, my other one was broken. I managed to put on the new display but when i turn on my phone the screen stays black, those 3 buttons at the bottom light up and are working, the phone is on, i can change the volume and stuff. What could be the problem, i have checked the cables. At the start i was checking does the display even works as i connected the one cable and the screen seemed to be working fine it turned on. But after that i have tried and tried a lot of times but now it wont turn on, the phone is working, 3 buttons ar bottom work as i touch them there is vibraton. Does anyone knows what could be the problem?

if everything is working and the cables are ok then the problem must be the screen...maybe you got a defective one

hmm, as i said the screen was working fine at the first 2 times, but then nothing happens the phone is working, those 3 buttons are working aswell, but just the screen. If the screen is faulty then those 3 buttons also shouldnt be working?

the connection of the digitizer and the screen are different i think if the digitizer is damaged the 3 buttons will not work wid it too but the screen will work
Hi all,
Today i recieved my 4th display for my one x.
The first one cracked, the second and third display were DOA (Dead spots in digitizer).
I took out the old screen and placed the new one.
Tested the phone before assembling again, and it worked perfectly fine.
Assembled the phone, and the screen didnt turn on, the button lights did though.
Disassembled the phone and it worked.
After assembling another time i couldn't get it to work at all anymore.
When i press my power button, the button lights go on but the screen stays black (it's not only the backlight).
The previous screen doesn't work anymore either.
It's not the connection, and the mainbord looks perfectly fine.
Rebooting the phone doesn't give me a solution either.
Is there anyone who had this problem before / Knows what it could be and how to fix it?
Thanks in advantage!
I bought my device (P600) a few month ago,
and suddenly (without changing rom/karnel or doing root) i got a big problem -
when i push the button that close the screen(turn off the screen but the device is still on) or if the screen is turned off automaticly, the screen stay off forever. Even pushing the power button doesnt turn on the screen.
The only way to turn the screen on again is to reset the device (by pushing the power button long press).
I almost sure that the problem is a hardware problem even that it's look like a software problem because after i saw the problem i changed the rom and the karnel to other option to check if the rom/the karnel is the problem and the problem didnt solved.
Someone have a clue which element make the problem?
Thanks (and sorry for my bad english)

I'd bet money on it being a backlight issue.
Test it again in a well-lit room with a bright lock screen wallpaper, something with a lot of bright color. Once the screen turns off, wake the device and look carefully to see if you can see anything. You might have to tilt the screen, but you should see a very faint, dark image.

Amazing that's was the problem!
There is a way to fix it? What is the component that causes this problem?
thank you so much!

Unfortunately I don't know of any solution other than sending it in for warranty coverage or replacing the screen yourself.
I've seen a couple of other posts on XDA involving the same issue, but never saw a solution. I've even seen this issue a couple of times IRL (not on my device, thankfully) and have not been able to find a solution. The two times I've seen this issue, the backlight level could not be adjusted, either. Whether it was set to automatic or manual brightness, it would never adjust, the backlight was locked at a constant level, until the screen turned off, and then the backlight would NOT come on again until the tablet was restarted. Reflashing stock firmware and doing a factory reset did not help, either. On one of those devices, the backlight DID start working again for a while after a manual wipe of internal storage, but only until the tablet was restarted, and I think that might have been a coincidence, I was not able to replicate that again.
So in short, I'm afraid I don't have a good solution other than hardware repair/replacement via warranty.
this has just happened to mine - will have to send it into repair, but it had CLEAN ROM installed so they might argue re the Knox trigger - really annoyed about this!
