Can I under volt on cm10.1 ?
I have installed greenify but to be honest there us not much to freeze
IM+ watsapp and tapatalk and teewtcaster pro those are my most " demanding" apps
If I use any of them the battery life goes down at a rate of 1% per 2-3 minutes
The screen is close to the minimum
Also how do you change the IO scheduler mine is on cfq but regardless of what I press does not change any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance
I use an Arc S but I underclock it to 1GHz. The ROM does not lag.
Did you check the box that allows you to keep the settings at boot?

Hello
I have an arc S lti 18
That us the issue i cannit change it so if I press sio for example gets back to cfq so no way to set it on boot because it reverts back
As for undervolt I had a uv file that i used on lupus ICS which helped m to keep the phone runnkng with very low use of battery But not sure if will work on this i can pm you the file if you want to review it
There are plenty of apps, which can do the undervolting, look in Play Store. SetCPU, SetXperia + many others.
According to the kernel status for LegacyXperia CM10.1, then the undervolting should be possible.
Thank you
Any in particular you would recommend ?

I have only used these 2, in the end, you will have to choose, which you wish to use.
I have downloaded set Xperia but there is no change on the IOSheduler
I am attaching screenshotsany advice will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

hi friends..
i wanted to know what is the best vsel value for undervolting and at wat frequency
and normally which app is used to undervolt? SetXperia??
Undervolting is a bit trial and error, as what works for one phone or rom may not be perfect for another. Probably the best app is IncrediControl, use it to decrease the voltages gradually.
i normally do stability test before applying the voltage..so i just wanted the range of minimum voltage..can u pls provide this?

You don't have to set voltages permanently in IncrediControl.
Don't tick set on boot box. After boot voltages are back to normal if your stability is issue.
i am using setXperia for voltage control..if i change the value of voltage and click apply..will it be applied for use at the same time or at next boot? if i dont check [email protected] then how and when are the voltages applied?
When you tap apply voltage changes immediately. If you check apply at boot voltages are saved and applied to any boot.
oh.. i c..i m undervolting at [email protected] till [email protected] crashed below 1100..
wat about you guys?
Hello people !
First a Fall , I am a member since a long time here , but never used to interact as i had jumped off the android bandwagon . Now i am back with a band with my new purchase of a really Awesome Samsung S3 :fingers-crossed:
i need Some help from you guys for a project i am writing .
I am writing on how under-clocking and over clocking an android SmartPhone would affect its hardware & software. mainly Focusing on How would the changed affect its performance , Stability and Battery life . And finally arriving at an optimum clock speed and if possible and algorithm to finding that optimum clock speed if its there .

I had an xperia play which i as using a long time back . its working perfectly fine . I decided to use it as i know the risks of over-clocking and how it may be dangerous to use on my primary phone atm .
All i am asking you guys is how can i go about this ? what all do i need to do to change the clock speed of my play ?
what apps can help me measure the battery life , stability and perfomance cahnges ?
basically please help me in anyway you can !
i will credit everyone in my study who helps :victory:
lets see the starrt of a great project !

To over clock or vice versa, you need to have a custom kernel that allows it. A custom ROM is also good, but not always needed, but it is suggested Some apps on the market have over clocking abilities but an over clocking kernel is needed that is compatible. Also those apps have a kernel, but is specific to some devices. But go to your device's forums and find a kernel that has over clocking abilities then flash it. Some apps just allow you to over clock to the SET speeds of the kernel being used. Also for battery life, I suggest you use betterbattery stats on the market.

SO which config would be the best ?
hey Thanks for your help bro !
considering i am already in the forums for my device , can someone recommend the best kernel and the best rom to install ?
And how do i go about installing it ?
PLease keep in mind it should be able to support maximum over clocking and underclocking .
Thanks !
Underclocking is doable with just root access, which can be obtained by using ZergRush. This will only work on firmware 4.0.2.A.0.58 or lower.
For overclocking, I would recommend DooMKerneL which requires an unlocked bootloader. It supports frequencies of 134MHz to 2GHz, though I think the stock kernel can go down to 122MHz or 128MHz or something (DooM changed the frequency table in his kernel).
To test the stability of your phone after overclocking, you can run stress tests with StabilityTest. Underclocking will not change the stability of the phone, it'll just make it slower.
My favorite ROM is Gin2JB, although anything stock-gingerbread-based should work just as well.
For testing performance, I recommend AnTuTu
Thanks again
Thanks for your help !
Now one question , does doomkernel have inbuilt over clocking and under clocking ?
also as you said it resitricts the underclocking to 134 Mhz but the stock goes to 122 Mhz . isnt thier a way to make this one also go the lowest possible value?
and what about the Adreno 205 @ 245 MHz GPU that the play has .. can we overclock underclock that somehow ?
Thanks again
Yes overclocking capability is built into DooMKerneL, and of course underclocking. You'd have to talk to DooM about putting in lower frequencies if you want anything lower than 134MHz in his kernel. He tried overclocking the GPU at one point, but it oddly gave worse performance in a blind-test so he removed it.
While we're one the subject of over clocking, you NEED an app like SetCPU to overclock right? Just wanna make sure DooMkernel isn't already set to 2.ghz. Yeah probably a noob question...

Yes, you need an overclocking app. I think it defaults to Min:249Mhz Max:1017MHz. The Min might be lower, dunno. The Max definitely is 1017MHz (1GHZ) until you specifically tell it to overclock though
I would like it if theres a kernel that ALSO allows to underclock and overclock teh GPU AND CPU .
Otherwise i take it , Doom is the best to go forward with right ?
Hi guys, I have a problem with battery drain, I using fxp 144 and Kernel inside ROM... My problem lies in the fact that I using the battery fully (for example: I playing some games for 15 minutes and I lost obout 10% battery) ...Otherwise the battery drain overnight is about 8 hours and I lost 5% battery
Can you help me please with my problem?
Excuse me please, because my English is awful
That's not a problem, that's normal.
Or could you recomend me a better ROM for playing games or some kernel??? I'm very desperate with battery drain when I play games

I got better experience for these combinations.
In normal mode -> Interactive/X + SIO/Noop (for better battery)
while playing games -> onDemand + Deadline.
Just flash the new fusion 3.6. if you are on aokp jb 5 it's pretty good just don't forget to flash the wifi modules.
Hello guys!
Is there any way to remove the underclock feature in Xperia S? I know the CPU will underclock itself to prevent overheating but this is just ruining my gaming experience
I'm not an excessive gamer,I play games just around 30 minutes but the automatic underclock is annoying
It makes the game very laggy and barely playable, and I mean HD games of course.
I know that I could always open any CPU app like SetCPU,No Frills, etc and raise the CPU clock back to normal but I just don't want to switch back and forth. I want to play undisturbed
There is a thread here (Yes,I've tried searching before posting) But I'm not sure if it's relevant.
Also, there is an app called "Overheat Control" (See attachment). Is it safe to remove this app?
Thank you!
+1

It really works and helps ,tried it by myself.
Just use set cpu and set the speed between 1000 and 1500 mhz and it won't underclock and lag

GUIDE TO EXTEND YOUR BATTERY LIFE UP TO THE LIMIT
20% Enough For A Day!It is one of the best option if you left home with less juice, and are going to be in a trouble!
Yesterday, when I was on a trip with my friends, I forgot to charge my battery, and guess what: just 17% of juice left on my device at early 6 AM! So, I used this simple method, which I am going to explain down there, then while returning home at 9:30, 6% of juice was available!
The thins that I did was, listened to music for more than 10 hours (via earphones), Took photos for more than 15 mins (altogether), Surfed 3G for about 7-10 mins (on way back to home! ), and some phone calls!

App required:-
No-frills CPU Control: Most of the custom ROMs have this app integrated, but you can also download from Play store! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.sineo.android.noFrillsCPU
STEPS:-
1. Go to No Frills Cpu Control or Cpu Settings(on most ROM's settings)
2. Select:
-Ondemand (Extreme Battery life)
-Powersaver/Conservative (Ultra Extreme battery, but laggy)
3. Tick Apply on boot and choose Apply!
4.Youre done, Enjoy ur maximum battery life!
-P.S: To have these governer, i.e. "ondemand/Powersaver/Conservative" you must be on Custom kernel bcoz, its not available for stock kernel!

Its for emergency, and you can use ondemand governer to reduce lags!
Ondemand governer takes phone to deep sleep while screen turned off, and required CPU value, when needed!

well for your kind information all the governers (if have custom kernel) take phone to deepsleep while screen off. And as per your thread title i don`t think the guide is that effective becoz this governer thingy is known by almost every one here. Not trying to flame but just wanted to say that don`t open new threads for such known things.
stock kernel have 2 governor
bcm21553 and performance
this trik can be apply when we use custom kernel
i know about this long time ago
