[Q] Unable to boot to fastboot or recovery - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Trying to install a new ROM on my Verizon HTC one, I went to flash a new recovery. Booted to fastboot, flashed recovery with an image and now the phone is stuck in a boot loop. The phone vibrates then the screen comes on. It shows the standard HTC splash, my computer makes the USB connected sound, then disconnected sound. Then the screen goes off.
I have tried to hold power and volume down. It doesn't change the behavior of the phone.
Any thoughts? What can i do if i cant get into fastboot?

You should still have your bootloader. Hold power and volume until it comes up. Even during the bootloop.

Thats the thing, Ive held power and volume (tried top, tried bottom, tried both) for 2-3 minutes at a time. No difference or change. the battery died from the loop. Now when i plug it into a power supply, it automatically starts the bootloop again.

I had the same problem happen to me.
I searched around everywhere for a solution. If you couldn't get it into bootloader again there isn't much to do.
I returned mine into verizon and got a new one the next day.

if you cant get to bootloader i hate to say it your stuck
I would keep tryng to boot to bootloader a bunch of times might get lucky and have it go in other than that if you cant get into booloader there is nothing you can really do ill do some looking around for ya but dont get hopes up
just found this maybe will help
leave the phone charging for at least 10-15 min on the AC adapter. press and hold both vol buttons then press and hold power for 2+ minutes. after 2 minutes, let go of all buttons except volume down.

That sucks was the blue one only a limited time? You should still try to ask vzw if you can get a blue one. Honestly this was the easiest way instead of searching around for all this other stuff. vzw was very professional and fast about replacing the phone.

I contacted vzw and they are sending me a new phone. Even blue! The blue htc one is best buy only. i think they are still available.

Hold it up to a bright ( really bright ) light and reboot the phone by holding the power button for 10 - 15 seconds... Sounds strange yes.

Power button wont respond!

Is anyone else having trouble with the power button not responding? I tried to reboot and it still wont turn the screen on or off the only way I can get the screen to come on is if I connect it to a charger or usb port to the computer. If i hold the button down it will not bring up the option to power off the phone. I downloaded quickboot to reboot the phone in recovery and the power button wont allow me to select any options in recovery. Now when I do a battery pull the phone boots me back to recovery. Does anyone know a solution to this?

Im going to try to get back to stock/unroot and take it in to sprint and have them deal with it.
yeah sounds like you might have a hardware problem.. id take it back and get it exchanged. And those tards at sprint usually have no clue that your rooted

Yeah I flashed to stock and it still did it so I went and got a new one. They know I root my phones but they dont care hah since I had their screen protector on my old one the tech tried to find some to give me for the new phone but he couldnt so he gave me an extra battery for it. Too bad this phone gets good battery life so its pretty much no use lol.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Suddenly Stopped Working!

I was using the phone today and the screen suddenly locked up on me. It wouldn't respond to any button presses so I just did a battery pull to reset it. However, the phone won't turn back on now. It doesn't do anything, even when plugged into the charger, the phone doesn't even indicate that it's charging or anything at all. It's like it has been completely bricked.
It was completely stock, never unlocked it or rooted and never installed any custom rom or anything of that nature. I've only had the phone for a couple of months and I'm completely baffled as to what could have happened. It certainly wasn't anything that I did.
Any ideas? Or does anyone have any experience with this type of thing happening to their phone?
So I've left the battery out for over 30 minutes and it still won't turn on. I have an extended battery and the regulary battery that came with the phone and it won't turn on with either battery.
I have also tried the volume down and power button method and that doesn't do anything at all either.
Plugging the phone into the computer with the USB cable also does nothing.
How long have you had the phone. Did you buy it from a store?

Mine did the exact same thing! It was realy weird, however all i did was keep the power button pressed and it rebooted fine.

I got the phone when it was released and I ordered it online right from Verizon's website.
I hope that you have the warranty from the carrier!

I'm not sure about that one. I know I don't have insurance thru verizon but isn't there a manufacturer warranty? Like I could get a refurb from verizon instead of a brand new one?
I've never had a smartphone just stop working for no reason at all and I was never really into modding them so I thought I was safe. I guess I was wrong.
Really disappointed in Samsung right now. This is my first nexus device, not sure if I'll get another.. That's totally lame to have a crap product that just stops working for no reason. This is an unmodded phone, completely stock, never been dropped or anything of that sort. The only thing that I did was swap the regular battery out for the extended version.

I'd definitely go to Verizon with this. Most definitely manufacturer defect.
Hold down volume up and volume down and the power button. Does it boot into fast boot? Id say if it doesn't do anything then go ahead and call your carrier because its a faulty unit. You can also try plugging it in without a battery and then Inserting the battery. That also saw sends a power up signal to the device. Though I don't know if this trick works on a nexus three. This was an old trick to "jump start" a nexus one that had a faulty power button. But aside from all this, it sounds to me like you've got a faulty unit whether you get it running or not. Probably just need to swap it , sounds like something went pop.

Thanks for the tips, I tried the volume up, volume down, and power button method just now and it doesn't do anything. I Also just tried plugging it in and then putting the battery in and nothing as well.
The thing is, I don't have insurance thru Verizon (i.e. the $5 a month thing). Would going to them even benefit me at all? Do you know if they would offer a refurb or something?
The phone has a 1 year warranty on it. You shouldn't have to pay anything but you might just get a refurbished replacement.
I think I had the same thing happen to me a few days ago. However, I have the GSM version that I bought from amazon (thru a third party seller), so no warranty. Yeah, I know. Smart. Also, in my case, I unlocked the bootloader so I could flash the official yakju so I would get updates faster from google. Despite some lagginess with 4.0.2, it had been working great for a month+.
When mine crashed, all I did was press the back button and the screen went crazy and froze up, then started glitching and made a buzzing sound. I pulled the battery and tried a reboot. The Google logo would glitch and "ghost" and then the animation would start, but it was slower and choppy. After a few seconds, it froze and the screen was all low-rez looking and I could see what I can only describe as strange pixelation or scan lines (with a few of them moving from the top of the screen down to the bottom in a continuous loop). The only way to get it to stop was another battery pull.
I tried to use fastboot to get back in and reflash to the original firmware, but I kept getting a usb error (didn't have that when I first unlocked the bootloader using a mac, so not sure what the problem was). Now, the phone won't get passed the Google logo and just sits there for 30+ minutes without making any progress (that I can see). I keep trying to get back into the bootloader using fastboot, but now it won't even do that.
I've contacted Samsung/UK (as that's where mine originated), but don't think I will be getting any help based on their initial response. And, since my bootloader is unlocked, that probably voided the warranty anyway. I have no idea what happened, but it seems like some sort of combination of hardware/software problem. So, basically I'm screwed and out $700.

I'd say go contact Verizon and see what they say. If they can't help you out then you gotta contact Samsung and I believe (if my memory serves me right) all their products have a one year warrenty from the day the phone was used. So you should see what they have to say.
Similar thing happened to me, it rebooted itself, as it has been doing quite a bit of lately, and then wouldnt turn on no matter what I did.
Eventually just help the POWER and VOL DOWN button together to reboot, and it worked fine again. I'm completely stock wtf.

That's awful man. I've been reading more and more about random reboots happening with this phone and what not.. I just don't know what to think right now, I thought this was supposed to this beast of a phone and now after only a couple of months, it has completely stopped working for no apparent reason at all. Pretty lame, and this has definitely never happened to me before as I always take care of my phones. I just figured that if something were to happen to this phone, it would be from my own doing, just as it has been with every other phone that I've ever owned (ie from modding, from a drop, etc.). Samsung gets a thumbs down from me, I paid a lot of money to get this phone and now I'm going to be stuck with a refurb because they have put out a crap product.
As for you, I wouldn't even tell Samsung that you unlocked it. They probably won't be able to tell if you did or not since the phone won't boot properly. They should offer you a refurb, so you'll be in the same boat as me. I went into Verizon today and that's the best that they could do. I have to wait til Monday for it to come in the mail. I'm stuck without a phone til Monday.

Yeah, it's looking like this phone has been giving many people similar problems. Samsung must have let a bad batch slip out or something. I was completely stock as well, no unlock, no root, no custom rom, just a plain old basic user here and mine took a dump on me.
Mine does this about every other day and I have to pull the battery and restart, sorry to hear yours won't reboot. Ouch

[Q] Need help with phone not turning on.

My friend's S2 is having the following issues:
The phone will not turn on (Darkside 3.6 ROM with DarksideX Kernel). The phone will show the Samsung logo, the Darkside X kernel flash and then it would shut off. It will then have a constant vibration ever 2 seconds or so.
I tried going into recovery mode to try and wipe all the caches, but the phone will not let me go into recovery mode at all. It will give me the constant vibration mentioned above.
I'm guessing the issue is being caused by Kernel crash so I tried going into download mode so I could try and flash a new Kernel via Odin, but once I get into the warning screen and I press volume up to go to download mode, the phone go into download mode for a split second before shutting off and go into the constant vibration mode again.
Any idea what's going on? Or did anyone have had these problems in the past?
I flashed her phone a few months ago and it's been working flawlessly until last night. So I know it's not a bad flash. I'm getting frustrated here because I can't keep the phone turned on long enough to re-flash or to ODIN or to do anything.
Any help is appreciated!
Try letting it sit for a couple of minutes, the battery might have drained too much. This happened to me before I hope this helps, every once in a while when it turns off and on try to boot into recovery and just reboot back out to restart the phone to a normal boot.

I've tried letting the phone sit for hours.
I've tried unplugging and then plugging back in and not touching it for hours.
I've tried charging the battery to 100% (with my phone) and then putting it in my friend's phone.
Nothing's working
Sounds like the power button may be stuck, or a hardware failure.

Power button is definitely not stuck.
I'm worried that it's hardware failure, but the phone is still under warranty and if that's the case, I'm trying to get this back to stock so I can claim the warranty.

This happened to a couple people a while ago. One had some lint or corrosion on the battery contacts, they cleaned it, and that fixed it.
skrambled said:
BOOM!!!! I fixed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew it was a battery or battery connection issue. I removed the back plating and noticed that there was some lint on the inside that was bridging the battery connections (I don't know the tech terms, sorry).
Used some air duster and blew it out. Reassembled and it is working like a charm now.
(If Joosty is reading this, I did a factory data reset--including USB storage--immediately so no worries about any personal data you may have had on there.)
EDIT: For anyone trying this fix just thought I'd mention that I used a 1/16 screwdriver to get the screws out and that getting the cover off was a little tricky--I thought I was going to break the plastic when trying to pop it off. Also, the volume rocker button falls right out so make sure to watch for that...

Damn... I guess you should try a jig, that's the only thing I have in mind. Sometimes you need to take everything out such as the sim card, Sdcard etc... let sit for 5 minutes then try to put the battery in to go into download mode. Last time I was getting so frustrated and noticed the USB cable was still in and that was the reason I couldn't get into recovery I was so heated! Haha anyways I hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm ordering a jig and hoping that it would force my phone to download mode and keep it on long enough for me to flash new kernel or stock rom.
But I did try letting the phone sit overnight before attempting anything to it with no results. If the jig doesn't work, I'm just going to send it in for the JTAG service. I e-mailed them and they said they would be able to fix it.
What??

This does not make sense. First, were you able to go into download mode using Vol up+down and USB cable plugged in to computer? If you can, then press vol up to continue and start ODIN on your desktop, flash the stock ROM (download from the Galaxy S2 Android Dev threads) and see if that works.
To me this does not sound like a hardware but more like a corrupt software issue.
I hope you just don't waste your money for nothing here.

As I'd mentioned in my first post, I'm able to go into download mode, but I'm unable to keep the phone turned on for me to do anything with ODIN.
I'm hoping that by using the JIG, it will somehow force my phone to stay in download mode long enough for me to flash.
That happened when my phone's Seidio battery had some liquid spilled on it. It did the same exact thing but I used my stock battery to boot it, let the phone run from the charger and replaced the battery. That fixed it for me. Try using another battery.

When there is a saying for developers only in red color, it means that One X is not a brand new, someone already unlock the bootloader and flash an old version of CWM on it. It is best to get a replacement if you meant to buy a brand new device.
And it get stuck on boot screen due to low battery.

Or, it could be that the person relocked the bootloader while on a custom ROM. But like the OP said, it randomly rebooted, WHILE it was being used. @OP, try running an RUU after checking if the bootloader is locked/relocked

sorry for late replies guys. yes to confirm it was brand new, just out of the box for a minute, bought from dial a phone in the uk which is a big retailer. it came sim free as most of their phones do. Simply opened the box, turned on and it turned off during the input of details, ie our wifi password to be exact.
After that came the red writing with developers only, now nothing. been on the charge all day, still no charging light. tried the wall socket, tried via usb to 2 pc's, and the volume/power thing doesn't work either. how long should we need to hold it to do that?

Oh, so its not booting into bootloader because batterys dead xD
Power the phone off, plug it into a wall charger, and leave it for atleast a few hours, it'll charge, and then boot it into bootloader and tell us what it says

Phone Suddenly shut down now won't boot

I have a galaxy Nexus (Toro VZW) and today after work I looked at an email. Turned off the screen and put it in my pocket. Went to listen to music, but nothing happened upon pressing the power button. I have tried charging, going into Odin, tried holding power for five minutes, three different batteries, and everything in between. I have no idea what to do. I bought the device from Swappa in August and it is in pristine condition. I paid 200 for it and it has not had a single hiccup or stutter untill today. I'm lost on what to do and have no way to but a new phone now. It's out of warrenty and since its second had I doubt samsung or verizon or google will help me. Has anyone had this problem, what did you do, is my phone dead? Thanks in advance I really appreciate it. I was running Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 stable release.

No, its like its not receiving power from the battery at all. I can't get into any part of the phone.
One weird situation that I am getting. If I take out the battery unplug the usb power and re insert the USB power then the battery in that order. Windows begins to recognize it. Shortly after attempting to connect to it it says device has malfunctioned. Still without turning on or indicating the device is on.
it just happened to me too! just playing death star and suddenly turned off and couldn't start again. I tried doing your last post and my windows identify as omap444? can't boot to anything. aw maan....
