Xperia Arc changing software need help. - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I read the forums and I know to change the software on my phone I have to first unlock the bootloader. I follow the official cookbook and my "Bootloader unlock allowed" Says Yes (android ver. 4.0.4, kernel 2.6.32.9, build 4.1.B.0.587). I stop at point 13. When I try to indicate android_winusb.inf system returns me message that it can not find the driver in this directory. Also, when I try to do it manually. Can anyone help me?

Changing software does not mean you must unlock bootloader. Stock based ROMs work also with locked bootloader.

Ok so I have managed to install custom rom (yay) and now i have the question: can i flash back official firmware (tft file) ?

Sure with the flashtool or EMMA you can go back easily.

[Q] I'm F*cked. Can't get intro Fastboot

So... I've flashed my baseband using the baseband software provided by this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308849
And now I am stuck at the SonyEricsson loading...
I can't get intro fastboot "mode"
And it's safe to say that I am pretty much f*cked, the working help will get a surprise.
A steam key for Borderlands.
So here is what you need to know : I am from Sweden an my provider is Telenor.
The android version before I flashed the baseband was 2.3.3. Don't know the version of the baseband. My Windows won't allow the MTP driver to be installed, don't know why. And I'm booted with the requirement of driver-signatures disabled.
Please help me!

Sony Xperia S Bootloader unlock Problem

Hi all,
I've got the Sony Xperia S and unlocked the bootloader and rooted it once and flashed it with the AOKP, but that didn't work, so I tried the Cyanogenmod 10.0 (Jelly Bean). In summary I think it was the wrong Combination of kernel and custom rom, because it didnt boot anymore and got stuck at the logo.
So I closed the bootloader again and installed the official stock rom from Sony, and all got fine, luckily.
With some more reading into right forums and better knowledge I got the right custom rom and kernel and tried to unlock the bootloader again, but suddenly it didnt work.
Message: Failed (remote: oem unlock 0xF (und noch mehr F) )
I did all with fastboot and the right adb drivers, the phone is installed correctly.
Yesterday I asked for my problem in a shop and the guy said, that the bootloader of any Sony device would close completely, if the (right or wrong) unlock code is used for too many times (like the limit of 10 times).
If he's right, I've got a big problem. But can't I open it with an alternatvie method? Or is there just any mistake?
Thanks for any answer
Chriszo
i dont know, but ive already relocked and unlocked many times without error ,
try to do it again and be sure to input the correct 0xKEY
CM10 contains it's own kernel so could never be a wrong combination of rom and kernel. Did you actually unlock the bootloader or just root the phone? Sounds like your bootloader was locked and you were trying to flash still

Thanks for the answers.
I don't still know what constellation I really tried to instal the kernel and firmware, but I think it was an advanced stock kernel and then the firmware of the aokp. After that I tried the Cyanogenmod, but the device just didnt boot, there was only the logo.
I remember to have taken the kernel named ics17.elf and the advanced stock kernel with the official 4.0.55 build number.
The the device was rooted and the "sd card" was not wiped, but the data of the apps were deleted.
So the bootloader was open because the kernel can't be flashed with a locked bootloader.
After that I flashed the aokp and then the cyanogen mod.
Because of no booting I relocked the bootloader and installed the official firmware from sony.
Since then I try to unlock the bootloader with this damn error
I try to unlock with another computer. Maybe it work and its a simple solution. To unlock my bootloader i need to use my wife´s laptop.... i try in my compputer many times, install drivers, uninstall, and a lot of tricks but fastboot give me "error" all the times... lol
I just chatted and called with the Sony support (nice to hear great english at the phone ) and again got to hear, that they aren't able or allowed to give any information about the bootloader because of the possibility to loose the warranty of the phone.
I dont know really where my problem is but I think the code is not working any more, although I cant imagine of that
Is there any other way to do that? Or do I just do a stupid mistake ???
Thanks
Chris

No no no!
Another guy on xda did it with FlashTool on locked bootloader. I was able to do it until the logo...
Apparently you only can flash roms I think, not?
Anyway Sony supports Open Developer Community as well, they give you info about bootloader here:
unlockbootloader.sonymobile[dot]com
No, I cant flash any rom, therefore I need an unlocked bl. And the stock rom from sony isnt available in the internet, just with the Sony-mobile-update-service.
Well, of course I tried the way Sony dicribes on this webside, as explained below -.-
Got the solution ??
Hey I have the same exact problem and i did the same things as you did ... did get a solution?? please inform me if you did.....

Unlock your bootloader, flash a custom kernel and install a custom ROM. It can be done since you can unlock bootloader.

Yes, it is possible to root. Did you try Eroot from this topic? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711

Yes, you are doing all good. However, you will need to install fastboot drivers first. Which OS are you using on your PC?
Thanks for reply, I have tried eRoot, It detects my phone (LT15a) runs complete process displays some form in the end asking for phone model, number and comments. I provided data but nothing happened.
I also removed eroot folder in appdata and retry this process again nothing happened.
My phone have rogers firmware
I have copied drivers from sonywebsite to android sdk folder (as suggested in official sony website)

For eroot , you dont need sdk.
Eroot is a bit laggy so you will have to connect it few times and try to root it with the software

I have installed PC companion as instructed in eroot's thread
I will try again and check if it worked or not
FYI eroot is detecting my phone correctly (My phone is in normal mode, do i need to be in fastboot mode?)

No, for Eroot your phone must be in normal mode, turned on, USB Debugging ticked, Unknown Sources ticked.
Yes Settings were correct
I tried again but nothing changed
(I am using Win 8) previously run eroot on win 7, nothing changed that time either
I have the same problem, but is still running Win8.
Hope you post the solution here - even if you found it somewhere else.

I don't know how Rogers people locked that firmware that its looks like it is impossible to root it
I am not a fan of rogers firmware, I will be okay with any other stable firmware CMW etc
Previously flashed / rooted my Galaxy Gio (GB) within no time, but this Xperia.......
I did tried many methods posted here on XDA, but unable to succeeded (Hoping that starting a thread will help more)
Still looking for successful method, please help me

Phone with carrier lock cannot unlock bootloader using fastboot. You need to remove the carrier lock first before unlocking boot loader.

OP said that his bootloader was unlockable.

Seems I misread... Yeah for him the best bet is to check his fastboot installation.

[Q] How to know if the bootloader of my Xperia E (C1505) is properly unlocked?

Hi guys,
First post on this forum, so I apologize in advance if this is not the right section. I have an Xperia E phone and I'm following a guide I found on the net to install Cyanogenmod in it. In order to do it, I followed the official Sony guide to unlock the bootloader, they sent me the unlock code and I used fastboot to enter the code into the phone. After that, the phone got stuck in a bootloop and I had to use a program called Flashtool in order to flash the original ROM into the phone again.
Now, when I enter *#*#7378423#*#* on the phone's dial pad and go to "Service info > Configuration", I can see the following message:
Code:
Rooting status:
Bootloader unlock: Yes
:
The weird thing is every guide I've read on the net about unlocking Xperia devices claim the above message should be "Bootloader unlocked: Yes", so I'm slightly confused (note the difference between "unlock" in the above message and "unlocked"). I guess it is actually unlocked because I was able to use Sony's Flashtool to flash the original ROM, but some clarification on this would be useful since I'm planning to install Cyanogenmod and I wouldn't like to brick the phone by flashing a custom ROM on an unlocked phone.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I finally was able to install CM11 in the phone, so I guess the bootloader was unlocked after all. Now I'm having a couple of issues, but I'll open a new thread for that, since it's a different problem.
Regards.

[Q] ICS on locked BL 4.0.2.A.0.62

I got a lt18i "unlock bootloader allowed: no" android 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.62).
All i want is to have android 4 (or above) as long as it runs.
Can i get ICS, or any version 4.x or above, without unlock?
I read i can flash stock based roms those include android 4 or only 2.3 like i got now?
I also tried to update on PC companion but it doesn't eve detect my phone. My pc (win10) does detect it as "Xperia arc S" so all good there...
Idk what to try next :/
Any tips or direction are welcome, thx in advance!
Yeah, flash .587 firmware with Flashtool. That's it.
