For whatever reasons (improper rooting/flashing, power outage during updating, freezing/removal of LG bloatwares or simple bad luck etc), if you bricked your LG G Pro lite /lite dual and is stuck with a Security Error or in a bootloop, fear not, as long as you can put it into Download and Recovery Mode, all is not lost.

I had rooted my LG G PRO lite dual and while playing with different tricks it went to bootloop. Finally I recovred my mobile with all data..
Here I am explaining how to do that with both ONLINE as well as OFFLINE methods:
1) Make sure you have LG United Drivers already installed, otherwise download from below
http://www.mediafire.com/?82nt1aeh04aqa3m
ONLINE METHOD (If You Don't Have The Desired ROM Backup as KDZ file)
2) Download LG Mobile Support Tool. (KDZ Updater). Install it as administrator in Windows 7 and above.
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Others/LGMobile-Support-Tool.shtml
3) Put your LG G Pro lite into Download Mode by switching it off, attaching the usb cable to the phone, holding the up volume button at the same time and lastly inserting the usb cable into the computer; wait for the drivers to finish loading if doing it for the first time.
Click Launch Software >>Go to options menu>> select recovery update... and wait for the flash process to finish.
(It will download the latest software online and after downloading it will update the same to your phone)
CAUTION:
Your phone may get reboot/change its mode several times during update procedure..no need to panic its normal.
Don't dare to unplug USB cable/battery from phone during upgrade.
After update is finished you will get a message window showing successful flash of the latest software. Now you can unplug your device and use it normally.
Most probably your user data will remain as it is... mine was still there but I can't assure about you....
Suppose if you are getting bootloop after this upgrade then you need to do hard reset to delete old customization and user data.
To do hard reset:
Switch off your mobile forcefully by pressing the power button continuously for 15s or if its not successful then by removing battery.
Insert back your battery and press vol down button together with power button for sometime.
FOR KITKAT INSTALLED PHONES: As soon as you see the LG logo keep vol down button pressed and release power button for a second and press the power button again just once like a click to reach the hard reset menu.
You will see factory reset/hard reset message ...release both of the pressed buttons and now you will be asked to press power button for confirming hard reset.
Follow the instructions to press power button.
Your phone will get back into factory settings after some time and reboot...if not then wait for some time and then try to restart by yourself .
If you need a separate backup of STOCK ROM (4.1.2) you can download from here.
OFFLINE METHOD (If You Have The Desired ROM Backup as KDZ file)
+ Download and setup LG Driver : here
+ Download LG Flash Tool 2014 tool and extract :
here
+ Enter to Download Mode and plug USB into your PC
+ WARNING : Remember copy KDZ file into LG Flash Tool 2014 folder
+ Run LGFlashTool2014.exe and do as following pictures :
+ If you cannot run LGFlashTool2014.exe, please install Visual C++ Runtime Library here
Normal Flash: Flash ROM without losing any data. Only use this when you need to fix system error. Beware of boot loop when flashing ROM that differ from current ROM on your phone or MOD ROM.
CSE Flash: Choose this option when you need a fresh format. All data will be gone. It's suitable for upgrading or downgrading ROM or simply use this when you need to back to Stock.
No need to choose desired language, it automatically change to English as a default setting.

Creating CWM recovery was not an issue.. we have already made a few of them but the main problem is with its installation as BOOTLOADER is locked we are unable to install the CWM/other recoveries ..as it will give an "Security Error" until and unless the bootloader is unlocked.
ya i read some of the pists bootloader is locked one of the dev told how to unlock it ... did it worked ? my pc is not working so i cant try right now

Hi!
Just win a LG G PRO LITE DUAL (D685). It is branded, but I HATE these bloatware... I just want to debrand, like I do with my sister's LG E455F Dual.
But the site I have (http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php) don't have G PRO DUAL... And your link isn't working.
Can you tell me if this KDZ will work on my phone, and can you provide another upload?
Thanks!

Nevermind, I found the unbranded KDZ. The problem is I can't flash it. In past I used FlashTool 1.8 (not B2C or R&D), but it give me an error with this model.

Turn off the phone, press VOLDOWN and then POWER for about 5 sec and then drop the POWER button, you will see an android, press the bottom right part of the screen and a recovery menu will open, Wipe and try again.
If this doesn't work just try to flash a original SBF using RSDLite and using the same method as above but pressing VOLUP.
regards.
Like the guy above me said, take out the battery so your phone is off, put it back in, hold the power button and volume up at the same time and you should get a special boot menu, plug your phone into your computer while in the boot menu, follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853674 to flash a sbf, download any of those firmwares, preferablly 2.34 because you dont have to make a motoblur account, and hopefully u made a backup of your system before, so reroot your new flash, install the system recovery, and restore to your backup, and it should be just like it was before
ok i will try it
i can't see my device in RSD lite
there is a way to use update.zip with a boot file?
Your phone might not be identified correctly in bootloader. If it does not show up at all make sure you have the latest version of RSD Lite...4.9 I believe.
i have the latest version
i try to install frozenEclairDefy with scard:update.zip but i have this message:
Install from scard
..Finding update package
..Opening update package
..Verifying update package
..E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
how can i fix it?
Sounds like you are trying to do this using the stock recovery? Cannot be done this way.
is there another way to activate RSD lite 4.9 because it don't see my device??
What version of Windows are you running? If it's Windows 7 you may need to run the program as admin.
i succeed to fix my Defy with McGyver Dead Battery Fix ^^!! my battery was dead and I use bootloader (VOL UP Button) which is differente from recovery(VOL DOWN Button) what i used before.
Thank's rbeier1221
Nice. Glad that worked!

Hi, the reason for your problem with rsdlite (can't find the device) could be a missing USB-driver, which you can download from the original motorola-site.
I hope it helped
So your Defy is bricked. It's really hard to brick a Defy or a Defy+ due to locked bootloader, so you can't really brick it but you can get it in state of not booting. In this simple guide i will show you how to unbrick Defy and fix some common errors!
Lets get started!
How to unbrick your Defy
What do you need!
You need the following:
Motorola Defy
RSD Lite (download here: http://goo.gl/KRSRp
SBF (i reccomend 2.2 CEE Froyo) (download here: http://goo.gl/Jhz84) (for other SBFs use this link: http://goo.gl/dYQTl )
USB Cable
Charged battery (at least 50%)
Motorola USB Drivers (download here: http://goo.gl/bWg1M )
Download and install USB Drivers
Download and install RSD Lite
Turn off your phone
Go into bootloader by pressing Power button and Vol+ button
Connect your phone to your PC via USB cable
Make sure everything is OK
Locate downloaded SBF. In popup dialog press Uncompress and start flashing
If you get " Please manually power up this phone " in RSD Lite pull battery out > put your battery back > reboot into stock recovery by holding Power button and Vol- button > Choose Wipe data/cache > Choose Reboot system now
That's it, you unbricked your Defy!
How to repair damaged Dalvik or cache
Use the same method for unbricking your Defy. If you still have problems...do the same procedure again.
How to fix empty battery
If your battery is so empty that you can't even charge it, there are 2 options
Option 1. (McGyver method)
Get a USB cable, cut the off the B plug (the one that plugs into the device) and strip away the shielding, revealing the 4 individual wires inside: White, Green, Red and Black. Red is +5V DC and Black is ground. strip a few (1-2) mm's off each and gently push them into the + and - slots on the battery. Apply some tape to keep them in place, but don't cover the other connectors. Now plug the battery back in, a tight fit, but possible if you've peeled back the shielding and the white and green wires so that only Black and Red are actually being crammed in there with the battery
It should look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Red goes to the + terminal,Black goes to the - terminal
Plug the business end of the newly modded usb cable into your computer.
That's it, your Defy should be alive now
McGyver method found at this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892026
I was lazy to write the method by my words...so i just copied from that thread....because he wrote it so well
If original author has problems with copyrights, he can PM me and we will sort it out.
Option 2.
Connect Defy to PC via USB cable. Make sure that your PC is powered on. LED in the top left-hand corner should be white coloured. Leave the Defy overnight to charge. In the morning it should be charged a little bit to charge it via normal method
I have not tested McGyver method, but option 2 worked for me (happened to me once)
This is the end of this tutorial. I hope i helped!

bricked MB526 BL7 no recovery available
Hello, I try to give as much information as possible so please bear with me.
MB526 with BL7 was working perfectly with the quarx nightly 20121018+update v3 but of course I installed the v4 update. What a friend and I figured is that there is a problem when flashing the 2ndboot updates with your power plug still plugged in, this is what I totally forgot about on the v4 update. I wiped the cache and dalvik before AND after the update but was stuck the bootloop. Now I had just made a CWM backup two weeks ago but when restoring I got an error message concerning the system folder. Still in bootloop on the splah M logo. I remember there was something about an older custom ROM and the recovery I used that didnt work so I figured I should start from the SBF.
Using RSDlite 5.7 on a winXP machine, I tried to flash the way I am used to flash brand new MB526 with BL7: (did that for a few friends and the girl)
1. DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_GR_SIGN_UCADEFYEMARAB1B80AA004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTCEE_P022_A022_Service1FF.sbf
2. DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CEE_ROOTED_No_Signed.sbf
but the plan was overthrown by my phone. It flashed through the whole process but was stuck at the the "please manually power up this phone"-screen in RSDlite, the phone was connected but at the splash screen. Battery out, the PASS would only appear in RSD if I boot directly into bootloader again. Otherwise this splash screen makes my mad. It doesnt boot.
I tried to flash the alternative, chinese, root ROM for BL7; samesame, but different.
Downloaded RSDlite 6.14, Mdriver 5.9 on a win7 machine, used about all the BL7 ROMs I could find on the site: sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/ The last one being the [Retail British] sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_BLUR_SIGN_USADEFYEMARAB1B8RTGB005.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTGB_P023_A025_M002_Service1FF.sbf.gz
samesame
:crying:
Now I cannot boot into the motorola recovery. Theres just the background picture but no menu. As far as I know, flashing an SBF is all that I can do. Anyone has got an idea, which ROM to try or what else to do ?
Thanks in advance

thank you. stock recovery. there is no stock recovery. MB526. BL7. Just the droid and a triangle with the "!" inside the triangle if I try to boot into stock recovery. I remember having this problem with my hannspad and there was a flashable ROM with just the stock recovery. Is there something comparable for the defy? only the recovery or is the BL7 the problem here?

That is Stock recovery (droid and yellow triangle) .Try pressing Vol Up and Vol Down simultaneously to get the menu. If that doesn't work TAP in the lower right hand corner of the screen to get the menu. Tap around a bit to get the right spot.
The newer stock recovery works off touch screen instead of the rocker buttons.

Thank you VERY much. I spent too much time with CWM it appears. I dont remember having used the stock recovery once. I thought BL7 was my enemy with that screen. My phone must feel like its been gangbangraped now with all the different ROMS I have flash upon it. Thanks again, quarx build 20121018+v4 running. Am creating a backup right now.
When I connect to pc (battery empty) it charges white led then boots up hangs on motorola logo for sometime then shutsdown to white led again, is that normal?
TeenyBin for LGNPST
E971, E973, E975, F180*
Don't give me all the credit. Just as much goes to artlan for figuring out the tables and table offsets.
Special thanks to xonar_ for his LG Bin Firmware Extractor and releasing his source code.
Thank you Shelnutt2 for everything you do for the entire LGOG community.
Thank you k7raid for testing the first bin with major SBL changes.
And last and also least.. ha ha.. sawdey21 for suggesting the "updated" name change.
TeenyBin. Patent Pending.
Be sure to show them all thanks.
Background
After seeing tons of soft bricks on both the forums and IRC we have decided to look into how LG .bin files work. We've "cracked the code" and have been able to rebuild the .bins.. making the repair process both faster and easier. Normally the user must download a large .tot/.bin file(1GB+) to repair the phone. After a long download and using LG Tools to flash the phone.. it is then completely stock... requiring a "re-root" and running the FreeGee unlock again. On top of the time it takes to download/flash... users also have to deal with the instability of KDZ Updater. This new method works around that software and now uses LGNPST.
TeenyBins are meant to do the bare minimum... fix your soft bricked LG OG and get you back into your rom.. or custom recovery to flash a new rom. These new .bins are as small as 31MB depending on what we build into the .bin. This means smaller files, shorter download times and a phone that's back up and running within minutes.
Other perks include...
Unlocking the bootloader.
Preinstalled TWRP Recovery.
TL;DR
You can use this method to quickly fix your softbricked LGOG. Instead of using a 1GB+ .kdz file and KDZ Updater you are now using a 30MB .bin file and LGNPST.
Directions
TeenyBins will quickly repair your soft bricked device. They will also unlock your phone and install the latest TWRP recovery. These .bins should be safe for any E971, E973, E975, F180* device.
1. Download TeenyBin .zip and extract. You are going to use the .bin file inside along with LGNPST. LGNPST can be found in the "Additional Info" section at bottom of this post.
2. The TeenyBin LGNPST flash should take 30 seconds or less... your phone will reboot at either 67% or 85%. The flash is complete. All finished.. maybe...
3. Your phone still may not boot up!! If so you must reboot the phone.. boot into fastboot.
4. From fastboot, boot into recovery. In recovery you can flash a rom. All fixed. No rom on internal sdcard? Use adb push.
5. Nothing working? You're doing it wrong. Did you read this entire post... including everything under the "Additional Information" section at bottom?
Fastboot = Volume up + power
Recovery = once in fastboot.. press volume down, pause, volume down then power button
TeenyBins
TeenyBins will repair a soft brick, unlock the bootloader and install custom recovery.
Fastboot = Volume up + power
Recovery = once in fastboot.. press volume down, pause, volume down then power button
DOWNLOAD:
E971.E973.E975.F180 Original TeenyBin - This is the default TeenyBin for every E971, E973, E975, F180* device
F180_TeenyBin-AA.bin - Chinese F180 users have asked me to make a new TeenyBin with new recovery. Here it is.
Current included recovery: TWRP 2.5.0.0 - Thank you Dees_Troy!
Additional Info
Q: I flashed the small bin and still can't boot back into my phone.
A: First of all... it's a TeenyBin... but anyway.. booting directly back up into the rom may not always be possible. Your /system or boot.img may be damaged. You were soft bricked remember... how do you think the soft brick happened? In this scenario you will have to reboot into fastboot.. then enter recovery... and reflash a rom .zip
Q: I don't have a rom .zip on my /sdcard so how can I flash a .zip?
A: Use adb while in recovery mode to push a rom to the phone. Google is your friend... look into adb push or adb sideload.
Q: What is adb?
A: Get out!
Q: Can you make *custom .bin here*?
A: Maybe... but I am lazy so make a good point.
Q: How do I know if I'm soft bricked or perm bricked?
A: For most soft bricks you will see a LG or Google logo and then a black screen. You can also still get into download mode. If you think download mode may not even work, connect phone to a Windows computer and check device manager... if the phone is detected in a "QHSUSB-DLOAD" then there's a good chance you're perm bricked. Otherwise.. you may just be a n00b and aren't doing download mode correctly.
Q: Where's that LGNPST info you mentioned?
A: Hit the Show Content button below

Notice at the top it says LGNPST ACG and not some other weird version? And notice the version numbers. If yours don't match up then you installed the wrong version!!
1. COM port will show up if phone is connected properly in Download Mode. LGNPST will switch and say Emergency Mode.
2. Press the DLL button towards the bottom of Emergency tab.
3. Press the BIN button towards the bottom of Emergency tab. You should now see both both file names scrolling in LGNPST like the screenshot.
4. Press that START button.
5. A windows will pop up saying you will lose data.. you will NOT lose any personal data.. hit OK.
6. If LGNPST is working properly it will take 20 seconds or so before LGNPST hits 67% and reboots your phone. DONE. After your phone reboots at 67% or 85% it's safe to unplug and use phone.
7. If you still can't boot up, try booting into fastboot. Can't get into fastboot.. try flashing the AltBin. Still can't get into fastboot? you're doing it wrong.
Q: LGNPST Won't open and says "usb dongle not detected"
A: In the lgnpst folder where u ran the .bat to install it should be a lgnpst_acg.exe file somewhere. Copy it to your program files > lg electronics > lgnpst folder overwriting the current exe in that folder. Should work now.
Q: There's no LGNPST_LS970/dll file to select in LGNPST.
A: The install.bat should have registered your dlls but something went wrong. Check the link in the next answer.
Q: I still can't install LGNPST... help?
A: Check out this link.

The point of this tool is to flash when you don't have a recovery, when you can't boot, you know, soft bricked ? Making a zip file that you can flash by recovery when you have NO recovery is stupid.
Already install on my phone, thx for all of you.

Thanx for your work! Have solved my softbrick yesterday, when boot gives me "secure booting error cause: boot certification verify". Thanks to you, now i have TWRP, an unlocked bootloader and CM 10.1.
After following this guide I can access fastboot, but when trying to flash any rom from there, may it be ThinkingBridge, CM etc. I receive the following error:
Could you give me some advice, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Problem solved by deleting the line:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "e975" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "e975");
in updater-script
Thanks to NeoPhyTe.x360

i need to make new teenybins for each and every model.
u have the E975? or was it converted from another device?
currently the teenybin includes TWRP which is made for LS970(sprint optimus g). I need to edit the recovery so it thinks its E975 instead of LS970 i think. Does E975 have its own TWRP? or any official recovery for that device specifically?

This is the one I have used the last 5 times under a variety of messed up situations and it always works. READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND TAKE YOUR TIME. It seems like a lot to do but it is not that bad after the first time you have all the files. Make a "Phone" folder on your computer and put all the files in there and keep everything nice and tidy. Follow the instructions and it will fix just about everything.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
P.S. When you get everything downloaded and unzipped..and you start flash tools with a # you found on the internet..maybe something like 39B0-IH19-4UAO-G6T8. you have checked manual mode on flash tools and put in the file locations in the top two slots, and you finally hit the yellow arrow at the top left....it will say "waiting" for about a minute. THIS IS NOT waiting on you to plug phone in!! You plug phone in when it says ready and that window with "waiting" goes away. Do not unplug the phone either just because it reboots. You need to wait until the bar turns blue and it says complete. This happens around 522 seconds or after.
this just saved my phone from being stuck on recovery! thanks!
I wonder if anyone has solved the battery issue with this method ????
Many users report that while using this method all goes well till around 45% complete and they get a message "Can not continue due to low battery level, please charge phone fully and try again".
This despite the phone being fully charged.
A very common problem it seems.

wanted warranty back!! plz help
Is this method resets the binary counter on my device?? And do i get my warranty back! plz help.
the reason behind doing so is...
1. When i was on stock unrooted new phone all seemed good.. but after 3 months when i open gallery app half of the imaged is gone. i have to again tap on screen to get back the full image. half upper screen gets randomly colored including the status bar. i thought it was an rom issue. so i rooted and put the custom (g2 apps added) rom. but the problem still continues. so i decided to follow these instructions. but can i get my warranty back? please help!
I am doing this right now and it says it is downloading but I don't see the progress bar

After years of flashing roms (and lurking here, especially DrKetan´s thread), I hard bricked my brand new SM-N975F. When I power it on, it goes to the screen that tells me the bootloader is unlocked, then to a welcome screen, and that is where it stays. (see pics).
I have tried the following:
1) All possible hardware combinations. (I tried at least 100 times all combinations between the keys): always the same.
2) Odin3 does not detect the phone in either screen.
3) Samsung Tool 300K does not detect the phone.
4) ADB does not detect the phone. (adb devices comes empty)
I am about to get a hammer and wreck the little guy, but I decided to ask you first.
Any ideas?

you should put the phone in download mode and reflash stock from odin.
reboot [down+pwr] when the screen shut down immediately put the usb cable in the phone usb port (the other already in the port of the pc) keeping the vol down till enters in download mode.
you cannot flash just the twrp partition, you have to flash the disable verity check as well. otherwise the bootloader dont't allow the bootstrap as the integrity check fails.
follow the dr.ketan instructions (carefully).

Thank you! I tried Dr Ketan´s instructions, but no matter how hard I try, I can´t get to the download mode. I followed your instructions but the phone does not go to download mode, it just shows the "bootloader modified" screen, then the other one. Odin (nor Samsung Tool 300K) do not recognize the phone at any time, not even for a second, so I can´t flash anything to it.
Sm-n975f hard brick - solved
I hard bricked my SMN975F by uploading the wrong TWRP. The bootloader was already unlocked, but the new TWRP for Q bricked it.
I solved it by sending the phone to a Samsung repair shop. It took them 24 hours (and about 70 dollars), but they were able to flash the bootloader, and the stock Q rom.
Moral of the story: if your Note 10+ is hard bricked, there is a solution. You can try the advice given to me above by these useful members, but if that fails do not toss the phone. Go to a Samsung service store, and they will be able to fix it. Thank you all for their help!

Hard brick is only fixable with a new motherboard.
Well done on getting it sorted and that's great service from sammy
I know you said you tried 100 times, different combinations, by any chance was this - Press and hold the Volume Up + Bixby / Power buttons. - one of them? It should boot into recovery mode not download mode. I had a similar issue, I had to try and try until I was able to get into recovery, from there did wipe data/factory reset several time, and then select reboot to bootloader, then flash the latest firmware(since you probably wont know which booltloader you have on it). Also remember to used the recommended Odin by the XDA team.
Try following alternate way.
- Turn Off Phone, if unable to turn off, wait till battery drain and off itself.
- Press and hold the Volume up and the Power keys at the same time for 3-4 seconds.
- This will bring you to Recovery Screen.
- Use Volume Up and Down Button to Navigate and choose Reboot to bootloader by pressing the power button.
- You are now at Download Mode.
Note 10+ SM-N975F/DS very very HARD BRICK --- Advice?

Thank you for your feedback. I had tried that, but the recovery screen did not come up. The method you suggest will work for most cases, but in my case I had screwed up the recovery itself by flashing the wrong TWRP.
Moral of the story: do not flash the wrong TWRP, because it may corrupt your recovery, and then getting to download mode is a lot more complicated.

As far as I know, Samsung Smart Switch is the only method to recover your phone. Download it on your pc. Launch the app and connect your phone. Choose to recover bricked phone.
I bricked about 8 different phones with the new A/B thing before I learned TWRP doesn't work and the fix was to flash the stock boot.img to both partitions with:
./fastboot flash boot --slot all <nameofboot.img>

Sm-n975f hard brick - solved
Guys I solved it. I pressed Volume down + Power, as soon as the screen turned off I quickly pressed Volume up +Volume down as I inserted the cable and voila! Download mode. Now I can reflash stock firmware
That was a very close call.
