Turn off the phone, press VOLDOWN and then POWER for about 5 sec and then drop the POWER button, you will see an android, press the bottom right part of the screen and a recovery menu will open, Wipe and try again.
If this doesn't work just try to flash a original SBF using RSDLite and using the same method as above but pressing VOLUP.
regards.
Like the guy above me said, take out the battery so your phone is off, put it back in, hold the power button and volume up at the same time and you should get a special boot menu, plug your phone into your computer while in the boot menu, follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853674 to flash a sbf, download any of those firmwares, preferablly 2.34 because you dont have to make a motoblur account, and hopefully u made a backup of your system before, so reroot your new flash, install the system recovery, and restore to your backup, and it should be just like it was before
ok i will try it
i can't see my device in RSD lite
there is a way to use update.zip with a boot file?
Your phone might not be identified correctly in bootloader. If it does not show up at all make sure you have the latest version of RSD Lite...4.9 I believe.
i have the latest version
i try to install frozenEclairDefy with scard:update.zip but i have this message:
Install from scard
..Finding update package
..Opening update package
..Verifying update package
..E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
how can i fix it?
Sounds like you are trying to do this using the stock recovery? Cannot be done this way.
is there another way to activate RSD lite 4.9 because it don't see my device??
What version of Windows are you running? If it's Windows 7 you may need to run the program as admin.
i succeed to fix my Defy with McGyver Dead Battery Fix ^^!! my battery was dead and I use bootloader (VOL UP Button) which is differente from recovery(VOL DOWN Button) what i used before.
Thank's rbeier1221
Nice. Glad that worked!

Hi, the reason for your problem with rsdlite (can't find the device) could be a missing USB-driver, which you can download from the original motorola-site.
I hope it helped

Stuck in a bootloop? Remove the battery. Go into the recovery, perform a full-wipe and flash again. If that not helps then boot youre phone again in the recovery and .....then:
Format youre sdcard from the recovery into swap=0, ext=512, remainder=fat32. You will loose all there is on youre sdcard.
Then after formatting. Turn off the phone. Take out the sdcard and copy the rom to youre sdcard. Put it back in the phone. Start youre phone in the recovery and flash the rom.
Thanks for the quick reply.!
The problem is i am unable to login to my phone. So how will i be able to flash the phone? only if i log in can i use rom manager isnt it? I am a total newbie at this. I would really appreciate it if you could explain this in detail to me!
thanks!
as I know power button with volume down together then wait then use volume down
to highlight recovery then power to enter.
It is explained in the first post of thus forum.
Hold down the back key while pushing the power button.
You will get a menu
Select Bootloader (by pressing power button)
Then wait for 10 seconds on the next menu
Scrol to Recovery with the volume-down button
Then you'll wait ten seconds and get a black screen with red traingle
now connect your phone to the pc with usb
start a adb recovery on the pc (for this you must have a recovery on the pc installed as well as Android SDK) in my case I just run the file recovery-windows.bat
Then you'll get a menu on your phone wit a lot of options, you can even select Ms-usb toggle after wich you can acces your sd card.
I am not a developer but think this is quite it. Download links are all in teh first thread of this forum.
Could you tell me if this would work?
I'll first wipe the phone, including the cache.
Then I'll copy paste the zip file of the Nextsense rom onto an sd card from my PC, insert into my phone, go to recovery mode, go to the sdcard-update.zip menu, and select the nextsense zip file.
Will that work?
Please help me out. and cheers to all u guys who took the trouble to reply so quickly. thanks..
I finally got it to work. All i did was I went into the recovery console, selected factory reset. and it got alright. Only problem is that i think my sd card got busted in the process. No idea what happened to it. It is not even getting detected by my laptop. I guess i ll have to get a new one. Thanks a ton to all the xda guys for helping me out. this forum is really kickass! I shall definitely return to xda to get help on further issues!
reformat your SD card , that should fix it !
Thanks! yeah, formatting the sdcard fixed it. Finally working properly now..
HTC desire stuck in bootscreen
I have the same problem with my desire. While loading a ROM with ROM manager the phone rebooted and started to install the ROM. But while it was installing it i error message came up and the phone froze. And after that it get stuck at the bootscreen. I've read the posts written earlier about this problem, but nothing works.
When I push volume down + power on the phone should think for a second and then show green texts about the SD card etc, but when this message shows it says it can't find anything on the SD card. And when I enter fastboot -> bootloader, it just throws me back to the home menu.. any ideas what to do?
you have to use recovery option in the bootloader
Unless you pushed the NewSense ROM via ADB you're most likely going to get a bootloop. After reading statements in the flashable versions of that ROM, that's what I've gathered: Bootloops.
Either wipe everything and install another ROM or install it the 'old school' way, using ADB.

Where can i get to windows-recovery? I installed SDK but what then?
Similar problem
Hey.
I tried to s-off my phone using alpharev and I had the "waiting for flashing to complete". I tried to check if the proces was running with some commands and it seem as if I managed to restart the proces. I finally gave up and removed the phone. Probably too early because now I can only get bootscreen and Clockwordmod recovery. I'm unable to get further than that and therefore I'm not able to start the s-off proces again.
Can anybody help me?

Hi everybody,
I have the defy, I've rooted it with Z4root, got the super users.
Everything was working fine.
Today I tried to install a zip from this website "xda developpers" with the HTC sense theme on it (I don't remember where on the website I took it) !! whatever...
Problem now is when I re-booted the phone it got stuck on the "m" of motorola and now I can't do anything !!!??
I tried to turn it off with the power button but useless....
So I did it taking of the battery.
I looked with RSD Lite and it shows my phone but with no name, no IMEI, no Software version.... !!???
Is the phone dead ???
I've also tried to go to the recovery mode but I can reach only the one with "Android system recovery 2e" which gives me only those 4 modes:
- Reboot system now
- Apply sdcard:update.zip
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
And at the bottom it shows:
E:Can't open /cach/recovery/command
I tried "wipe data/factory reset" but it doesn't change anything...
Please need help guys !!!
Thanks.

as long as your phone is showing as connected in rsd lite, you can reflash the most appropriate .sbf as per my guide, doesn't matter what else it says as long as it says connected.
Thank you for your answer.
I tried with the 2.21 version and it looks ok, but at the end when the phone has to re-boot itself (still usb connected), it boot and stays on the "m" of motorola !!! ???

I have the same problem, RSD lite is currently running, I will update when it is finished
**UPDATE** took a while to start booting but i am now seeing the MotoBlur animation which must be a good sign, as i said it is taking a while, and it is now working fine
Thanks for your explanation...
but how long it takes in minutes to boot on the motoblur logo ???
thanks.
I'm gonna try again.
I would prob boot into recovery mode and wipe data if the reflash doesn't work a second time. Who knows where this theme has installed stuff. On a general note only install themes that are specifically designed for your device/build, sounds like this one wasn't.

Thanks Higgsy,
just a question:
The only recovery mode I can reach is the one I stated before.
I've already done the wipe data/recovry mode that is proposed.
It didn't change anything.
I'm at work, I'll try a flash when I come back.
I might flash it with the Jboogie3 beta 4 !!!
It took about 5 minutes to fully boot Also in RDS lite the progress percentage thing was increasing but.again much slower than when i debranded my defy. I would try leaving rds lite running for a while and seeing what happens but if it doesn't work then im really not sure. Have you tried factory restore here is how to do it
https://motorola-global-en-uk.custh...00/~/defy---master-reset-/-factory-data-reset
Good luck.

Thank you for your explanation but I've already done the factory rest...
but still stuck !!
Can't wait to finish work and to test with RSD Lite 4.9 again.
1) Turn off the phone
2) Hold [Volume UP] and [Power] until the backlight comes on, then release the [Power] button.
3) You should now be looking at the bootloader. White, blocky text on a black background. It should say something along the lines of "Ready to program, connect USB data cable"
4) Connect the phone to your computer, using the USB data cable
5) Fire up RSD lite and start loading the appropriate SBF, which judging by your flag, would be this one.
...those steps work for me, anyways
thanks Sorensiim,
just to be sure, last time I unzipped the .gz file, and it use the .sbf file only with rsd lite right ??

ok guys so i just picked up a brand new defy. got it home tried to run z4root and it just would not work. so i decided to just use super one click. did that no problem.
i then went ahead and used the 2nd init. still no issues. then when i was ready to flash i got stuck. cant load into bootloader or anything. im afraid the battery may be close to dead but im unsure.
currently all i can do is see the m logo. thats it. cant seem to get into recovery.
i also tried rsdlite but i cant sem to find the right files cause they all have the wrong extensions.
please help. i have no problem with buying someone a beer!!!
1. Boot the phone into stock recovery by holding power and volume down at the same time, press both volume buttons when it boots and go to factory reset/cache, run that.
2. Reboot into bootloader, by pressing power and volume up, plug into your PC.
3. Download the latest version of RSD Lite, and download a 2.2.1 SBF of your choice. You'll need to unzip the sbf file from the .gz using a .zip program, I use WinRAR.
4. Open RSD Lite, choose the sbf file, make sure the phone is connected in BOOTLOADER mode (step 2)
5. Run RSD Lite, wait until is says "PASS" In the dialogue box.
6. Enjoy!
ok so i got it back to the bootloader that you mention. however its flashing battery low cannot flash. or something like that. now what...
1st of all you if the blue led does not lit then you should try to go to stock recovery (start your phone using vol down + power, then press the lower right corner of the screen when the android appears with an exclamation mark - on Eclair- / press both Vol Up+ Vol Down -on Froyo -). Then you can start your phone into bootloader and flash the SBF again.
PS: older 2nd init versions get stuck on boot if the USB debugging is ON and the battery must be taken out to restart your phone.
EDIT: wow...how many replays have you received while I was typing mine Good luck and keep us posted!
If it says battery low, cannot flash, simply charge the battery for a bit, and then retry
how can i charge the battery? i have no lights blue or white...
I'm not 100% positive about this, but if the phone is off, and not bootable, I think plugging it in still charges it. Anyone know?
ok i just went to radioshack and bought a stand alone universal battery charger. im guessing if i give to 30-45 min that should be enough to try this process. any other tips/tricks in the meantime? im wondering where i went wrong. also what is the best file (link if possible) to use? lastly what will it take to get back to usa tmobile rom and i guess start over?
Since you are in the US use this sbf http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt...1028.0R_JORDANTMO_P022_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz with RSD lite. Use this version of RSD lite 5.3.1 and Motorola drivers http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=609901&d=1306603535.
ALWAYS go into recovery and wipe first before entering bootloader and flashing sbf
The sbf I linked above is the stock eclair 3.6.360 for the US
Good luck if you need help just ask we are all here to help! You can PM me as well

Hey ppl.
I have a big problem, hope you can help me solve it.
I installed jboogies blurless ginger Froyo build 4 a while ago and everything worked fine. Now the gps module and the loudspeaker is broken and id like to send it in. I guess my guarantee is kinda gone when i sent it in with the modified ROM.
Is there any way to get the old bootloader and the normal Blurish Android?
Please help me.
Thanks in advance!
First, you need:
Original SBF of your country, seek for it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
RSD Lite + Moto Drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100585
Then, once you've got everything, power off you phone. You must enter into recovery mode: press volume down and keep pressing it, press power button. Wait for android robot to appear, then press both volume keys and select "Wipe data/factory reset".
Reboot your phone, this time by holding volume up button. Connect phone via usb to pc ( wait for pc to recognize device ), open rsd lite and flash your downloaded sbf.
i am still running the original factory settings + android update, is there a way to save the original factory settings before i try a new rom? sorry i am in a hurry so did not have much time to search the forum first, and as its along the same lines as the first poster i figured it would be a good place to ask a similar question and expand the thread rather then creating a new one
install cwm and make a nandroid backup of your system then search for a fixed sbf of your current software..as long as you have both of them you should be good to go.
Ty for the help one more what do i look at on my phone so i know im getting the right sbf?
at a guess you need t-mob 2.2 us rom
thanks much appreciated.
Hello guys,
before I send this phone in for repair, I thought I might ask for some help.
phone not detected by computer so can't go into adb and mess around.
phone is brand new with stock rom, it boots, goes to 1st home screen (where you chose the country and stuffs) and it almost automatically reboots.
does that in a loop, I can get into recovery, but thats about it.
any of you got an idea?
you might try doing a hardreset
you might flash sbf with android 2.3.6 .
second will cost you possiblity to use ics or cm7.
[untill theres root-exploit for it]
but this might work
remove battery. then press power button and s until the end...
you'll boot in safe boot...
but you can't access to the recovery mode? power button and r + m?
so like I said I can get into recovery, but don't know else to do.
I got into safe mode but it didn't do anything. it rebooted too

thats the 1st thing I tried, and it didn't work.
I got into fastboot mode I think. dunno what I can do there . . .
also my computer can now see the phone but it asks for "fastboot MB632 S" drivers
which I don't have. I tried installing motorola usb drivers from their website but it doesn't do the trick.
does any of you have fastboot drivers for the pro?
i have this problem since 3 months and no body know to to slove it
got the fastboot drivers, does anybody have an idea what I can with fastboot?
flash a stock rom maybe?
