guys i was wondering if anyone tried underclocking one x ,what battery life got , and its it worth it?
and can i underclock tegra 3 ? will we be able sometime?
i know maybe its a noob question but i really want to do something about battery life..
thnx in advance.
What kind of battery life are you getting anyway? It's pretty decent as it is right now.

haw many days do you have it?
A week almost. (6days)..
I know.maybe its new but i dont know what the normal.is.
But i would like to know about the undercloking , if its available,if its help, and some.opinions.
if you're on the new update or have that power management fix installed, then i don't know. it's an app or a battery problem. i don't think we can oc/uc until there is kernel source, and i don't have knowledge of HTC history on that. if it doesn't improve in a week and you aren't running a bad app, then maybe exchange it?
Set CPU doesn't work on the one x so I tweeted the maker and he said he will try look into it, really needs kernel sources.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I tried underclocking to 1GHz using SetCPU.
I used the phone an entire day with the SetCPU settings and compared it with other days.
I didn't get much different results, maybe we need a custom kernel?
I've been getting about 3+ hours screen time at 30% brightness at 1.26 Haven't really checked on 1.28 yet.
Most CPU apps don't work on the One X, tried some of them but CPU Spy still shows higher frequencies been used despite underclocking.
i really want to play games (like fruit ninja, temple run, angry birds) and i thnk those games doesnt need that power to run properly..
any way to underclock or undercore(will be available?) so not much battery drains when playing?

Aren't sources available on HTCDEV.com? I'm no dev, just asking.

Not yet they aren't. For the HOX only the bootloader-unlocking is available at this time.

Try to install the app called tegrastats and you will see that while playing those light games, either 1 or 2 cpus are shut off or the frequency is dropped. That's the power of this socket, it will automatically adjust to the task at hand.
I agree, however, that there is a lot of room for improvement but that will hopefully be fixed when developers can work on a custom kernel.
is not possible make underclock yet?
Im using my new note 2 n7100 to play nova 3 from the play store on stock 4.1.2 the game randomly lags on some levels and
Heats the phone and screen. Restarting the phone makes it smooth again for few mins. Can anyone recomend a build prop i can use
For a better experince or config?
Mc4 lags a bit but is mostly smooth, im not using any extra apps im not rooted ram minimum use is at 533mb. thanks for the help

Sorry my friend, a build prop will not work as such, the problem is the power required to run the game persistently at 30fps or 60fps.... ^__^
I have that problem with Vice City... Hot as Hell ^__^
I dont mind the heat so much but is it possible the cpu is being downclocked due to heat? Because there is sudden lag spike
But goes to normal smooth gameplay after restart. Does overheating cause this problem in nova3 and is there any way to prevent downclocking?
Nova is a gameloft game and most gameloft games aren't optimized for our Samsung Android phones. I play modern combat 4 and it doesn't run smooth most of the time. Compared to ios, which is highly optimized for gameloft games, it plays like a sideshow.
Contact gameloft and complain. It's all we can do.

Try undervolting if you think its the cpu throttling. ..
Helps
But not the heat though. ...
Has to be some heat

I put set cpu to run at 700mhz the game ran fine with the same lag spikes and the heat was the same. So i guess the heat is from the ram if thts possible. Its a cool phone but i wish it could stay warm and play gloft games smoothly . Im not a fan of the iphone screen or ui but i guess i have to get one. Iv written to gameloft about dark knight, wild blood and nova3 lag issues perhaps they would look into it.
On a side note is there a note 2 compatable version of 9mm?
Ok iv figured out the issue. The problem isnt so much with game its the cpu. At every lag spike the the temp has hit 60 degrees and the cpu downclock or throttle has caused the lag. Iv posted on the q n a thread for suggestion to stop throttling. Sadly this will happen in all 3d games to some extent due to the thiness of the device.

Try using a custom kernel to undervolt or even underclock. While underclocking might not seem that much of a good idea, underclocking by say 100mhz might stop the phone from throttling (which downclocks to 800mhz) so it might be worth it. Personally I can run most games at 1.6GHz without any throttling (which for me happens at 70 degrees using Perseus)
I do not know your enviroments degree that may change the way the phone behaves. Right now it is freezing outside and 22 Celcius the room. I have no CPU backing down due to the thermal conditions even after playing Nova 3 like 40-50 mins. I normally use my phone locked at 1200 Mhz Max since it is more than enough with 640Mhz GPU but I have been using it at 1600 Mhz CPU with 533Mhz GPU and there is a little more heat on the camera side. Still it is tolerable for both my hand and the device itself. No lag so far.
Thanks for the reply im in southern chennai which is pretty similar to a summer in california. Im not sure how to downclock the gpu but the phone screen near the camera becomes really hot while gaming nova 3 or mc4. The temp shows as 56 degrees c. Iv a hard time touching the screen near the camera at tht point. The back is still ok. In india samsung does not give out refunds or exchanges so i hope there is some sort of fix for the screen heat.
Hello everyone! I am very, very happy because i bought a Nexus 7 2013 a week ago. That same night I got home from the shop I knew it was getting root permissions. So i did the rooting method with WugFreshes toolkit and it worked like a dream I must admit. TWRP and Superuser installed in a flash.
After root permissions the fun started - Custom Rom's, Mods, Tweaks you name it. I am currently using Stock Kitkat 4.4 ROM with many tweaks:
PureGraphic HD
PurePeformances
AwesomeBeats
PureAudio
I have the Franco Kernel and it's great. I have had no issues what so ever so far. It's smooth, fast and responsive. Games run extraordinary fast, I can amp up the graphics without to much frame drops, this includes games like GTA SA, GTA VC, Modern Combat 4 and N64/PS1 Emulators (and yes i own the roms :highfive. Back to the Kernel. All Wireless adapters are working (bluetooth, wifi, nfc etc), and wifi seems faster. Battery doesn't drain very fast at all, even with intensive load. But here is where my question actually is ...
I do understand that this question has been answered somewhere else in the Nexus 7 2013 forum, however can someone tell me my question in more detail? Thanks. :good:
Q. My question is, between what cpu temperatures is safe for my nexus 7 2013 to play intensive games at (etc emualtors, gta series, MC4)? What temperatures should i be alerted at. I am currently running GTA Sandreas and emulators at around 50-65 Degrese celcius (yes that's right celcius us auzzies use the metric system :silly: . )
Also if i overclocked it to 1.7GHZ then what would a stable temp be while idling and heavy load? (thanks!)
(last minute edit... Also what CPU is really used in this? People say it's an undercloked s4 pro or something? So if overcloked back to 1.7GHZ it'll be fine? Right?...)

How come nobody has said nothing to this question?
Btw, my cpu hit 91º C this morning while I was playing nova 3 and I was using an overlay to see my gpu frequencies and usage. I think is too much.

I personally wouldn't worry about cpu temp that much. All the developers of custom kernels will set the thermal limits to whatever they think is appropriate. A much bigger concern than the cpu temp is heat being conducted to the battery. I would make a point of keeping the battery below 120F and I personally don't want to see over 110F (around 45C).

The overlay thing I was talking about earlier was the cause for that cpu temp, it used like 2 entire cores to function, without it, temps are more stable, can you believe that the tablet actually kinda burned my fingers if I pressed too hard? That's insane.
Now, I understand that the battery's temperature is something important, so you don't ruin your battery lifespan, but how come cpu temps don't matter as much as battery's does? What's the max temp for these devices?

I'm going to "guess" and say somewhere around 100C for the cpu. Just a guess. 60C for the battery would absolutely be bad news. 50C would make me nervous. Also the cpu will start to get throttled (underclocked) once it gets up to a certain temp, And once it reaches the max temp the cpu will get shut down and you will have to wait for it to cool down before it will boot back up. I would worry about the heat affecting the motherboard and the components on that before I would worry about heat damaging the cpu.

Theorically speaking, the safe working temperatures would be the where the thermal limit is which is around 105ºC.
However, it doesn't work like this because heat spreads to other components and more importantly, it spreads to the battery and we all know batteries don't like hot temperatures since it drastically reduces their life span and charge capability.
On practice, I would say keeping your CPU below 70ºC which will result in a colder battery aswell is the sweet spot.
On the Overclock matter, I have mine at 1900'ish Mhz and my GPU is at 490'ish Mhz and I haven't experienced any abnormal temperatures while runing benchmarks. Infact, the temps were kept below 50ºC which is more than fine.

I think the battery burns like hell when you're playing and charging it at the same time, am I right? I wonder, if the cpu and gpu are underload, the battery will drain quickly, does this mean that this produces more heat to the battery? How does that work.

Thanks m8. I don't have to worrie about it anymore... The Nexus came to a screen smashing end...
Hi guys i just got an Xperia ZL C6502 months ago and its a big headache im telling you the cellphone is great but whats really happening
The problem is that in heavy use the Snapdragon S Pro 600 Quad to 1.5ghz comes over 65°c or 149°F wich is absolute damn high so what? it drains the battery from 100% to 0% in around 2 or 3 hours and the cellphone is hot as hell, and not only in games, using apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, etc too.
When im not using it it drains normal ammount of battery like 2 or 3% per hour but when i use it a little while at least it drains 10% of it and im like charging it 2 or 3 times per day.
It has the lastest version of Android supported by it wich is 5.1.1 and rooted by Kingroot App i thougth that rooting it i was able to change the CPU frequencys but here comes the problem, i tried a lot of apps and no one seems to result, my intention was to clock it to 384 thath it seems to be the minimum it tolerates and 809 to maximum to reduce the battery consumption and the CPU heat but when i clock it or push the "apply this settings at startup" the clocks are set to 1512mhz minimum and maximum.
My question is, why this is happening and if there is a solution to my problem.
Sorry for my bad english im spanish and thanks by the way
Anyone?
Hello, first of all the right processor of this device is the Snapdrangon s4 pro (APQ8064).
Related to your problem I think you could try installing another CPU control app, there is one I've used before and is on the playstore "No-frills CPU control". Install it and change the CPU governor to "conservative" or try others... Hope this is helpful for you.
PD: I'm Mexican and speak Spanish also, send me a Personal Message if you want, I think I could help you
Sorry for my poor english. But something i really want to ask. Help me please.
I've got some problem on my z5 premium dual(6883). I'm not sure if it is problem of my phone or all e6883. Please can anyone help me or tell me?
z5 premium/z5 premium dual are using s810 with 4-a53 cores and 4-a57 cores. But my phone is always using the 4-a53 cores but seldom use a57 cores. Even use a57 cores, just use only maximum at 2. It is so weird. And even the 4-a53 cores are all fully used (usage: 100%), it won't switch to use or active a-57 cores.
So, my question is, can anyone tell me this is my e6883's problem or all e6883's problem?
the second processors usually get ignited ONLY if resources are LOW on the first chipset. running two simultaneously will drain battery!
don't worry! enjoy the device

Thx for answering me.
But i have still got a question. Just now i'm trying to open snapchat to reply my friends and i figured out my a-53 cores are fully loading about half minutes but the a-57 cores are still sleeping Is it just my e6883's problem? or something else?
I've captured my screen. Please have a look.
