Lte speeds - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

How is lte for everyone. Came from note two and the past couple weeks LTE had been atrocious. Went from minimum 20 down to 1 or so. Note on note 3 it is better but still not great . Has the backbone been taking a hit since the note 3 came out and LTE popularity rose? Btw I'm on T-Mobile in

There is a whole thread on LTE speeds... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469831

True I forgot about that. I think this is more of a isolated issue since other users in area get great speeds

What's the next LTE Android phone for T-Mobile?

I was thinking of getting another phone soon to replace my crappy Sensation and from my brief research, the GS3 may or may not have it in the hardware to support T-Mobile's upcoming LTE network. With the One X+ cancelled, am I only left with the GNote 2? I'm really not trying to carry that big of a phone around . Will there be any announcements by T-Mobile in the upcoming months to release phones for the holiday season? I'm keeping my fingers crossed . Thanks in advance for any insight or details.
The T-Mobile S3 will NOT connect to their future LTE network. The Note 2 probably won't either. Their LTE network is even close to ready to begin rolling out.

The note 2 is the closest one to get lte it pass by fcc by 1900aws and 700(Verizon band), they were rumors of tmobile making arrangements with Verizon so we probably get it then (if you have a supported device) having said that I don't worry I get up to 24 mbps on tmobile and love it, I use 20GB last month with unlimited so ain't going anywhere for a while

I get about 10-13 Mbps download with my S3 and it's more then suffice. While I'm sure it's be nice to be able to download at LTE speeds, I don't see the "necessity" of it.
I'm perfectly happy with my S3.

I couldn't agree more. I've seen very impressive speeds from 4G on SGS3... While I'm sure getting 30-60 mbps down (seems average on other LTE networks) is really cool, its more of a signature spec - or bragging spec... 10mbps+ on 4G is plenty fast for me, especially considering I've been using an iPhone on T-mobile for years stuck on 2G EDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4G is like LUDACRIS SPEED for me (anyone? spaceballs? anyone???)

On Verizon's LTE, I pulled on average 15-25mbps. It peaked out at about 30. On T-Mobile's Faux-G, I pull on average 10-20 mbps. I peak out at about 25.
LTE is not noticeably better in any way other than speed tests. Latency had been about 100ms for both as well. Primary difference had been LTE outages on Verizon seemed to last 12-72 hours whereas HSPA+ outages on T-Mobile seem to last 30-600 seconds.

30-60 is average? I've never seen anyone around here go faster than 22 mbps and in that context, my GS3 gets 15-16. The difference isn't very large at all.
First of all don't get T-mobile their HSPA+ Network gives me 0-0.50Mbs around all Brooklyn, even if signal is below -60dBm

Any way to prevent this from happening? Make a phone call before buying? Call tmob customer service?
By the way, since the Note 2 will be coming out by the end of this month or maybe early November, I think a lot of people will try to dump their GS3 to upgrade. Will craigslist prices lower? I'm seeing 300-350 on average right now.

Galaxy Note 2 N7100 on T-Mobile's HSPA+ Refarm Speeds Inside!

Well, after getting tired of AT&T Data Throttling me to Edge speeds, And knowing that coverage is not 100% in my area, I went ahead and got the 69.99 Monthly Unlimited Everything Plan from T-Mobile ( I Was on ATT's Grandfathered in Unlimited plan etc cost around $120-130 Month) Now I'ts just $69.99.
Here are the results Keep in mind speeds will improve as coverage does as well. It's very sensitive at the moment if I move a few feet away signals lower and speeds vary depending on where I'm standing And in Certain parts of my house I have Edge, But if I move towards the bedrooms or living room it just picks up HSPA+ (Yeah it's funny how 20-50 feet make a huge difference) but it's very encouraging to say the least I expect when it's fully re farmed to be getting 15-20mbps down!
And without further a due here they are!

You won't get 20mbps down. It's too close to the Note II's theoretical peak 21mbps HSPA+. 15mbps may be possible though.

Well I'm just touching 12mbps now, I'll keep testing this as time goes on and network improves and see where I end up. However like AT&T is worthless now I was getting 3-4 and now I'm getting constant 9-12mbps at half the price And no throttling.

Not sure if you have/want to post your findings there! Every time I check the site, it seems like a new pointer pops up to a new location!
That sounds good. I live in NYC and I am thinking about pulling the trigger on the international version. But I am not sure that I could live with 2G service most of the time. If it were a little bit of H+ and then 3G the rest of the time, I think I could live with it.
In any case, i'm gonna wait and see what price I can get the T-mobile version for.

The Int'l Note 2 does not support 1700mhz AWS, correct. T-Mobile is, however, in the process of moving their HSPA+ service off of 1700mhz AWS over to 1900mhz instead so that they can use the (soon to be) old 1700mhz AWS band for LTE service.

Nice Virus,
I went ahead today and bought a T-Mobile branded version to see the difference in speeds, and At home My n7100 on the 1900 band beat it. I drove around and the highest I got was 15. However that same area is not yet re-farmed. So I'm returning the t-Mobile branded version and keeping my N7100 I Just had to compare both devices

Yes moving 4G to the 1900 band was a good idea. Now a lot international phone will get 4G insead of 2G. I made the switch coming from AT&T cause now I dont need to. T-Mobile....meh..
I was a long time customer of T-mobile, had the HTC Amaze 4G and Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile.
Saw speeds up to 15-17mbps in some very few parts, but the thing was.... it loaded pages and generally felt slower browsing and using the web than my friend's equivalent S2 on ATT and he only saw 3-5mbps in probably 90 percent of the locations we went to. Something was up with that...
When T-mobile is fast...it's very fast (which is very rare), but when it's slow, it's VEEEEERRRRY SLOW which was most all places.
Anyways, I'm very happy with my international GT-N7100 on ATT's HSPA.

How much are you paying for data every month? The $20 package will net you all the data you want, but only the first 2GB will be faster than Edge.
Mine's been pretty much the same, although they did announce that they have completed the 1900 refarm for Houston. So it might've been during that period when they're tinkering with the towers.
I live in houston too. What I did was set network mode to WCDMA mode only instead of automatic selection because for some reason it favors Edge in some areas. But since we're in houston, we're covered by HSPA+ so no worries
and i'm by 288/bw8 and the towers here suck since theres nothing around but still pretty good if i'm not on the first floor of my house

i used to pull down 40-60mbps in the metro atlanta area on my old LTE skyrocket but on my note 2, i've been averaging 15-20mbps. other cities i've traveled to, i was seeing 30+.
i got the skyrocket right at launch and it was samsung's first at&t LTE phone so i'm guessing that the network's bandwidth was hardly being used but with the iphone 5, gs3, and note 1 & 2, there's a lot more congestion which is driving the speeds way down.
I recently had about 45 down and 25 up around Detroit since there's like no one there haha

I had this problem when I first got my NoteII. I was coming from a NON LTE device so when I switched the phone they didn't put me on a LTE plan. If you are in a good area where they have LTE give AT&T a call and make sure you are on a LTE plan. Also if you are on a custom ROM you may have the wrong APN settings.
On LTE I am getting 55 down 35 up all times of day.

Here were some of my recent LTE speed tests.

At&t lte users

Ok so I thought I'd contribute a bit and start a topic regarding what people thought of AT&T's LTE network.
I got an iPhone 5 the day they came out and was getting some amazing speeds. Like 15 Mbps down and 6 Mbps up. But within a few weeks of having my phone I started noticing dramatic drops. I live on Los Angeles and in the city I now get 2-3 down and less than 1 up. So what I would do with my iPhone was turn off LTE and too my surprise the 4g network was doing leaps and bounds better. About 6-8 down but still less than 1 up.
Now I have my new galaxy note 2 and still don't have the best of LTE but 4g is still giving me the high downloads I was seeing on my iPhone 5. So for the most part I keep my LTE shut off on my phone though turning it on and off isn't as easy to do on android as it was on my iPhone. Unless anyone knows a toggle I can add some how?
Anyways just thought I'd start this little discussion to see what everyone else thought about their LTE in their area. Personally I think it's a joke how expensive AT&T is and how poor quality their bandwidth is. If it's gonna be expensive it ought to work great. But I guess that's just how things go with all carriers. Well love to read your guys' thoughts.

I usually get 10-15 mbps in Tulsa Ok. I have seen 50+ a couple times. Unfortunately I don't get LTE anywhere I go on a daily basis. I can get it by going 2 blocks south of my house, but my daily commute takes me north away from any coverage.
