Can we verify that with Android 4.3 the bluetooth 4.0 is working on the S3?
I'm running MOAR if that makes a difference and was going to upgrade to the 7.1 especially if that will get me bluetooth functionality for 4.0.
Thanks and happy new year!
I'm not having any luck with my bluetooth headphones and Moar 7.1

Pioneer car stereo and Bluetooth
Since the jellybean upgrade to 4.3 my car stereo (Pioneer DEH-X8500BH no longer receives my contact list despite numerous pair and un-pairing attempts. The closest I gave to a phone list is a bunch of called phone numbers. It used to display Received/Missed/Dialed and Phonebook information. The stereo still works in Bluetooth mode. I tried pairing to a variety of car stereos in BestBuy and the contact list would not transfer despite asking if the list can be transferred when the pairing initiates. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Credomobile (they use the Sprint network) has basically told me that it is my problem and that there is nothing the can do (or will do) to fix it. There is no upgrade to the stereo firmware (I am going to check with Pioneer). Help?

Just had the new kenwood deck installed... Should do almost anything. I have my incredible paired up and calls are clear. Problem is A2DP audio streaming. Does not work. No A2DP device is found. Yes, the manual gives directions to play streamed audio once bt is synced. Well, its synced, got my phone book on there, and calls are being made.
Any thoughts or ideas to get streaming audio?
I don't have any help to offer, but I am experiencing the same problem with my Pioneer FH-P8000BT. Pairs for phone calls with no issue and everything is clear, but the radio does not even "see" the device as being available for A2DP.
I previously paired a few different HTC phones (all running Windows Mobile) with this radio with no issues. I'm hoping it's a simple fix, but I can't find a single thing in the settings that I haven't played with to try and get it to work.
I have an Alpine HU with an Alpine KCE-400BT bluetooth add on. My streaming audio is working, although I don't get any song/artist info on screen. I do have an issue where the phone doesn't sync up all the time. It syncs up great in the morning. If I stop for gas or something (turn off the car briefly) and get back in, then the radio won't see the phone until a call comes in or is started from the phone (or I toggle BT on/off).
You might check with Pioneer on any firmware udpates.
My incredible works great with my Ford sync system. It always connects, calls are loud and crisp, and streaming bt audio works great. I use it to listen to Pandora all the time.

I have seen other people post issues with having bluetooth on the phone enabled before the car is on. If you turn the car on first and then the phone's bluetooth they said it worked fine.
I have Kenwood HU and my phone won't pair with it. my Blackberry Paired with it fine, and even did A2DP, and worked awesome...now......nothing.
Been looking for some answers as to why, but after calling Kenwood they said it's a software update that is missing.
however, seeing as some people are getting it working fine....I am suspecious.
Kenwood 4160 working, actually better
My 4160 and serveral WM units worked, but the A2DP always had to be turned on by going into the menu every single time I wanted to listen to anything from the phone, but the Incredible does it by itself every time perfectly.
I have a Pioneer AVIC N4 and the audio for both calls and music works just fine out of the box.
I have the kiv-bt900 also, and it is my understanding that it does not have A2DP. I believe the A2Dp in the manual is referring to the KIV-700 with the add on bt module.
From page 67 (of the downloaded manual from Kenwood)
KIV-BT900
Supported Bluetooth Profiles:
Version: Bluetooth Standard Ver. 2.0
Profile: HFP (Hands Free Profile)
OPP: (Object Push Profile)
PCAP (Phone Book Access Profile
SYNC (Synchronization Profile)
I thought it had it too when i bought it. Maybe a future update will enable it though??
What does A2DP mean please?
it stands for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile. In simple terms, it's stereo audio transferred from one device to another via bluetooth. Example: Music from a phone/mp3 player to stereo bluetooth headphones, head units etc..
Thank you.

Well damn. The deck was sold to me from car toys (local vendor) under the pretense that it would do zune (works great) and A2DP...
Usb works great too... I was thinking of formatting a laptop drive to the mac file system (hfs) and hooking it up to the usb port to get a200GB drive of mp3 and video since it supports ipods. (works on xbx360, why not here?)
OK so a small fix, but not the end result.
with my Kenwood head unit I can make it work as long as I don't let it download the phonebook. and that is no problem since the phone sits on my dash in the car dock. but the problem is that EVERY time I start up my truck, or after I end a call it asks to re-download the phonebook.
it kinda irks me, but I cannot get it to stop asking, no setitngs on the stereo work.
I emailed Kenwood about possibly releasing a firmware update to include A2DP to the kiv bt900. They responder saying that there isn't enough demand for the feature for them to create a firmware update. So if we get enough people contacting them and requesting that feature, they will release and update. So you guys should all contact them to increase the demand for this feature. Hope this helps.
Here is exactly what they responded:
"I understand that you're inquiring about the KIV-BT900's Bluetooth features. We do apologize for any difficulties that you've experienced with this item. Unfortunatley, we cannot assist you with any firmware updates at this point since this model was just recently released to the market. Our company has not received enough demand for this feature which prevents us from developing or releasing an update for the KIV-BT900 unit. We may release an Bluetooth update in the future, however it's hard to determine at this time."
I'm willing to start complaining and sending some emails out to them. What email address did you send it too? I just got the player and that is def the only thing missing to make it complete for me.
I tried emailing the regular support channels and got the below message.
Thank you for contacting Kenwood USA Corporation. We value you as a Kenwood customer and appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.
I Understand you are inquiring about any updates to allow the A2DP profile.
There is currently no available updates and there hasn't been information on upcoming updates for the A2DP profile. We ask that you check back at a later date to verify if one is posted through the www.kenwoodusa.com website.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
Please feel free to contact us again with any additional questions.
I spoke with a rep and they mentioned that A2DP missing from the unit is the most often called in issue about the unit.
I have a KDC-BT948 with the same issue. They removed A2DP and put in Pandora instead..and it only works through iPhone, which then uses up wireless data on a cell phone plan. So Android, MS phones, and any other bluetooth device can no longer be used with a Kenwood Car Stereo. Someone at Pandora really made an impression at someone in Kenwood. It is too bad that they are limiting consumers with their choice which ultimately limits their sales and increases complaints.
Should have everyone go do this and request a fix.
Go to the Kenwood Contact page and send an email
This is what I sent
I have purchased the KDC-BT948HD radio.
Where I am overall happy with many of the features, looks, variable colors, and excellent sound quality of the unit, there are several things that I am extremely dissapointed in and would like to see an update released to resolve them.
1. SMS Received message on the unit: Might be useful to some, but to me it is a dangerous distraction while driving, especially at night. It has me take my eyes off the road to look at the unit and makes me want to look at my phone to read/send texts. Texting and driving is illegal in many states and there should be a way on the unit to allow a selection to turn this feature off.
2. BT Audio (A2DP) is missing. I have an Android phone with my music on it. Alone there are more Android phones than iPhones in use today. I wanted to have Bluetooth streaming audio so I can play my music from my phone to the unit. For such a high technology unit, it should be part of the firmware and flexibility to the consumer to use their device with more options. The previous year units had this enabled and seems to be disabled now replaced by a focus on a wired Apple connection and Pandora. Forcing use of Pandora also forces consumers to use up data rates on their wireless plans. If A2DP were enabled, more consumers could enjoy the product integration with standard BT devices offered by Apple, Android, Microsoft and many others. All could enjoy the music and audio applications on their devices including Pandora. I would like to request that A2DP be added to the firmware and source selection on this device. I should yield increase product ratings and sales as web searches show many complaints about this issue.
I would value your feedback on these points and potential solutions.
Best regards

I've tried to connect my phone via BT to two different cars and have no luck. It will scan for devices but won't find them at all. Does this happen to anyone else with the SIII? Strangely enough, it finds and connects to my JamBox is just fine.

Still rocking the stock and unrooted for the phone. I tried on a Lexus GS and a Scion xB but no results show up. How do you connect manually? I should try that
Phone calls and bluetooth streaming works fine in my 2009 Mazda 6 (GT, no navigation). My phone is stock + root.
I use Slacker Radio everyday, launched by Automateit Pro when the connection to my car is established.
IIRC, I had to input a PIN on my phone, then in my car to do the pairing, and after that, I had to connect the phone manually to the stereo, but only once. After that, it's automatic when I start the car. Watch out for the "Only visible to paired devices" setting on your phone. It must not be checked.
I too have major issues with bluetooth, my phone connects whenever it feels like. I had to flash to cm9 to be able to listen to music in my G37. No problems in my other car (it has aftermaket pioneer system).
PS Just flashed the CM10 since they finally figured out A2DP, but the image is broken. (Note to myself: "Read the thread before flashing") Will wait for the next nightly build.
Nissan's always had a horrid BT stack in it. I'm in an 09 Altima and BT just sucks. I know it's not the phone as I've tried multiple phones from multiple vendors and they all suck. Nissan won't fix it either.
[Q] Bluetooth issue with Cars
I have AKOP Rom and KT Kernel. My bluetooth connectin to Mazda Cx-5 is fine. However, the problem I have is a lot of phone information (Song title, Battery Status) I used to have on stock, now are gone. Previously, I can fast foward or Rewind a song, also, once BT is connected, the default music player will start automatically
Can someone suggest a BT manager app which can change and enhance BT setting?
I have a 2009 Mercedes B200. My phone connects to the car just fine, but no sound comes from the speakers and no sound goes into the microphone. Same thing with my car and the HTC One X, although that was fixed with a stock ROM update. Bluetooth on cars can be very hit and miss.
Hi guys, question. My Nexus plays music through my aftermarket stereo fine through bluetooth but my annoyance is that the info doesn't show up. ie artist name, songs etc. While my ipod shows it all. I've read that it's just bluetooth firmware on the stereo/iphone/android but it's still such a pain in the a** that Iphone has the benefits while Android being better doesn't get as much. =( My question is do any bluetooth guru's out there know of a workaround or way to have info show up. My next step is trying different players etc.
The data needs to be sent by the application playing the music. I've found that Apollo will send this data to the screen on my 2012 Civic, the stock player does not.
I think certain ROMs have the latest bluetooth firmware. I think CM9 does? Not positive. I would also like to know if there was some way to update the firmware, on any ROM.

My GN wont connect for Bluetooth Audio (A2DP bluetooth receiver plugged into car ipod dock) - I have tried and tried, different roms, etc, no luck - my 3 year old Droid X works just fine, but my 8 month old Nexus wont connect - WTF. I enter password, get error that unable to pair.
My phone pairs to the car bluetooth phone no problem, but will not pair to audio.
Any suggestions???
Thanks!
First of all, CleanROM is a wonderful ROM. I have installed it on my ATT Note 2. :good:
However I have one slight problem if you guys can help me figure it out.
My bluetooth connects perfectly to my car stereo (A Brand New Pioneer made in July 2012). I can make phone calls perfectly, but I cannot play media via bluetooth. Meaning, when I try to play music it does not send a signal to the radio.
I made some troubleshooting steps to no avail:
1. The bluetooth Media option is checked under the bluetooth settings.
2. The car stereo works perfectly with my rooted Galaxy S II with Stock ROM 2.3.5 (phone + media)
3. My Note 2 fails to send media signal to my GF's new car Stereo (2013 model). Hence this is NOT an issue of an outdated bluetooth receiver. Again here, the same issue: it connects when making phone calls, but no media playing.
4. I even unpaired all other devices from the stereo to no avail.
I am starting to think it is an issue with the ROM..Is there an app I can download or some patch to fix this, or should I try a different ROM.
It took me 2 days to finally set up everything on my phone and I would hate to have to erase all and start all over.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

I'm having the same problem different radio.
I have a brand new 2015 Hyundai Sonata, and my girlfriends Galaxy S5 can send metadata and track info to my stereo no problem (using google play music). My new Galaxy Note 4. refuses to send the track info... I've tried using the AutoAudio app which will allegedly fix the problem, but that didn't help. I also tried using Poweramp and the stock music player as well, hoping that something would work, and nothing does. However, my dash unit and steering wheel can CONTROL the phone, just not display what it's doing.. So it appear AVRCP is working but not bluetooth metadata.
It's such a minor thing, but it's driving me nuts. Any ideas?
Bump -- I also noticed the sound quality over bluetooth (for the same files) is way worse with my Note 4.
I get the same problem on my 2012 Mazda 3. My understanding is it's a problem with Bluetooth 4.1 compatibility. It makes no sense as it is supposed to be backwards compatible, but it's pretty regularly reported that many car stereos aren't fully compatible with the latest Bluetooth spec and this is the result. Bothers me too. If anyone is able to get it working, please share. I'm certainly interested in a solution.

So Hyundai themselves actually called me and said that my headunit is running some really old Bluetooth stack... So old that the new version of bluetooth isn't that far backwards compatible.. It will play audio, but at a lower quality and without metadata.. They said the headunit software manufacturer (MNSoft) might have a firmware update, but they generally only do those for nav systems.

I googled MNSoft and what showed up for me was the mapping software that Hyundai uses. Would that really have to do with Bluetooth and metadata? I have a 2013 elantra with nav. I get no metadata on my screen either. Sound quality is great though since mine does come with the upgraded sound system.

2011 mazdaspeed with nav here. Same results. Haven't called for update
Last I heard from Mazda, they can't (or won't) update the software. They consider it done. I find that aggravating as cars should last longer than phones and the radio isn't easy to change out
