[Q] WIND Galaxy s3 = T-Mobile S3 or Verizon S3/ Play store "no connection" - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

My Galaxy s3 was from WIND in Canada T999V. Which SHOULD make it a d2tmo. However when i try to install 4.4 nightlies of AOKP and Cyanogenmod, they tell me in CWM that my phone is actually a d2vzw. Which is it actually? Is it actually a d2vzw despite the fact that I got it from WIND?
Secondly, both AOKP and Cyanogenmod (even the stable 10.2) boot but the play store doesn't connect and nothing can fix it.
I've tried going into root edit mode and changing the "hosts" file as per another thread, but it wouldn't let me save the changes. I think it might have something to do with the version of Cyanogenmod I installed (maybe the radio got f'ed up?), but i'm not expert and would like to open it up to a forum of experts.
Thank you

There was a discussion a while back about the recovery that you installed in the beginning might not have been a d2tmo, but maybe a d2vzw

CM-d2tmo on an ATT Galx S 3???

Recently i was running an ATT Galaxy S3 with the d2att CM Rom.
I switched carriers and I just need a yes or no on this, do I need to install the d2tmo CM ROM?
Or is there any sort of radio patch or less-than-entire-rom fix i could use???
(This was prompted by a bad connection on 4g, thinking its because cm d2att has ATT radio kernels, but i'm not that experienced)
thanks in advance

[Q] Can not save APN and blank after rom flash

I've been working on this and searching for two weeks now and have found nothing that matches our exact problem or fixes it. I've been rooting/flashing phones for years so I'm not new to this but this is definitely a new problem for me... I'm helping a friend flash Cyanogenmod on his Note 2 and have been working on it solid for the past 2 days to no avail.
Phone: T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-T889)
Problem: No APN in Cyanogenmod, unable to create one/save, unable to restore APN from backed up APN from stock rom.
Thoughts: I believe that the problem lies in the fact that I can't save the APN which may have to do with the way the newer rom deals with APN's or with the way that it interfaces with the SIM card.
Currently I have the phone flashed with CWM touch and I have backup's of the stock rom which is rooted and also of Cyanogenmod 10.1 for N7100. This is the only ROM i've been able to get flashed on the phone and it seems that this is what rom manager tells you to install so I think this is the right one. I've also seen other DIY's that tell you to use the t0lte rom but that one fails the device check before flashing.
Stock Rom: When we have the stock rom flashed, everything works fine. There is a valid APN and we have no problems.
CyanogenMod: When we flash back to this rom or flash from an image, there is no cell signal. When you check the APN's there are none. We are unable to manually create an APN. If you enter the info, press menu button and click save, it does not error but does not save the APN. We are also unable to restore the APN with APN Backup & Restore. I've set the restore app as a system app and ignore the ICS warning as you are supposed to do and it appears to be writing the APN data but afterwards when you check, there is still no APN.
The only thing I have left is to go figure out how to check the logs after I try to save the APN. I'm not sure how to do this yet so I'm going to go learn how to do that now but I'm hoping someone might have some insight into this issue before I have to go down that road...
If I've left out any useful information please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any help!!! I've used this community forum for many years but this will be one of my first posts... I'm truly stumped.
Also, this may be important. I started reading into modems and such thinking that the modem may not be compatible or may not be able to interface with the sim card and I found that when you check the baseband version in Cyanogenmod, it says Unknown.
Maybe this is becuase it is an i7100 ROM on a T889 device?
When you flash a Cyanogenmod ROM, does it flash the appropriate modem with it? Also, when you back up your rom in CWM, does that backup/restore the modem?

ROMS do not include modems. I think you should be flashing the 7105 not 7100

Ok, good to know. And it always seems to happen this way but I think I've solved the problem. Regarding 7105 vs 7100 however, not sure I've seen the 7105, nor have I seen any diy's that instruct you to use that rom on the tmobile T889. Is that a variant or something?
I was reading more on the wiki for cyanogenmod and saw someone post the same problem where the t0lte rom wouldn't flash through CWM. They suggested flashing TWRP, which I did and it worked perfectly. We have cell signal and everything!
So if you're having the same issue flashing the t0lte Cyanogenmod 10.1 to a Galaxy Note 2 (T-Mobile) try flashing through TWRP recover instead of CWM.

The only ROMS that will work on the TMO variant are ROMS based on the T889 source or the 7105 source. The CM is based on the 7105 source.

Very good to know. Thanks for the quick replies and help!!
We realized 4g wasn't working and attempted flashing a newer modem which I'm sure helped but didn't fix the 4g problem. Flashing a newer nightly did however resolve the issue... Hopefully that info will help someone else...
I recently had the same problem in my recently owned Galaxy S2 Skyrocket after trying the first Rom which is Cyanogenmod 10.2 Stable with UCMC1 radio.
I figured that the problem had something to do with my provider, so i sorted it just putting it in airplane mode before adding the APN. Theres one little catch, you cant access the Mobile Settings button while you are in airplane more, so you just open the APN list window before putting it in airplane mode via the quick launch menu,, then the apn will save with no problem.
I hope this is useful, ch33rz!:silly:

[Q] Galaxy S3 SGH-I747 wifi problem

I am new with rooting and modifying my phone.
I first root the phone, then install AOKP Task650 (Android 4.2.2) Kernel 3.4.49-Underwear and Version is "d2att (4.2.2 JDQ39) Build 6.24.2013
after that i install rom manager, google apps, and everything is working perfectly EXCEPT wifi.
it is very weird cause wifi Turn On/Off button is nor clicklable; it is there, but when i turn on it is transparent grey and after couple seconds, it become solid grey.
I searched and find that if i replace /system/bin "wpa_supplicant" with one on other sites, it might work, and it is not working?
I looked everywhere, either i am stupid and dont know how to find or there is a specific things to look; if you guys can help me it will be great.
THANKS IN ADVANCE
Ok first of all, you're not in the right forum. This is for the Sprint S3, not Verizon.
Second of all, why are you flashing a rom made for the AT&T variant? That's why you're losing wifi, nothing to do with the rom itself.
Even though they are the same phone, there are differences between the carrier variants, so go find your device's forum and stick to flashing roms posted there.
EDIT: Nvm, that is the d2att. You should still post in your own forums though.
Please use the correct forum. You have a Verizon phone, you tried to flash an ATT rom and you posted in the Sprint forums. Try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37038544

Cyanogenmod Rom Request

I have a sprint galaxy s3 SPHL710PUDND8 and cannot get any of them to install it and I went rummaging through the installer scripts and realized they worked for every model but mine. I added my phone model to the list (I know maybe not the best idea) and it aborted the installation and refused to do anything. So my question is, is there anything else I can do to the Rom I currently have to get it to work or is there a specific version of CM I need to get? I am currently updated to the latest 4.4.2 KitKat firmware from sprint and have Clockworkmod Touch 6.0.4.5 installed.
https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2lte
I would suggest the Snapshot M12 as that will be the most stable over the nightlies.
Thanks but I am currently using the latest nightly. I saw this already on YouTube an hour after I posted this. But thanks anyway. I'll leave this up for anyone else who may have this problem.
