Hello,
I'm trying to connect my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 wifi to an ad-hoc network for internet. I understand this is disabled by default and a file needs to be replaced for it to work.
I searched around but could not find an up to date file for 4.2.2 version of android which runs the tab. If anyone has the file or another method please share it.
My device is already rooted on stock ROM.
Thanks
the same question.

the same question I want to ask .
So I made the *BIG* mistake in upgrading to 4.4.2. Now I want to venture and install CM11 4.4.4 but I have no custom recovery, am I SOL? Or is there a way to install a custom recovery? I got the device rooted. I tried to install one but it gave me selinux enforcing blah blah.....
What's wrong with 4.4.2? It was a great update. You can install a custom recovery, but you will trip knox if you haven't already depending on how you rooted.
Use my how to guide in the general forum to install TWRP recovery. Just so you know, there are things in CM that are still not working for our phone (NFC and ambient temperature sensor) and a few unresolved bugs.
Give it a try and see if you like CM. You can also flash my ROM and try that if you end up missing all the extra TouchWiz feautures that you lose.

To be honest with you, absolutely nothing is wrong! I just installed CM11 4.4.4 on my Galaxy S4 and the performance on it is superb! And now I can cast from the OS instead of using Chromecast. You have a link to your ROM? Is it 4.4.4? I'll check out the custom recovery you mentioned. BTW I don't use TouchWiz at all (well, unless its a built-in feature I am forced to use. I use Apex launcher so I won't notice any difference besides the dropdown task bar and settings page I believe...
No.. it's 4.4.2 NF9 based but there aren't any major changes between .2 to .4 for our phones. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2746172
I'm trying your ROM but it's not connecting to 4G lte... any ideas?

Wonder if MetroPCS (which used to use T-Mobile APN) are switching to use their own APN? I installed CM11 last night and to my surprise it had a MetroPCS APN...and it worked, but T-Mobile ones didn't... Odd...

Do a carrier search within my ROM and see if MetroPCS comes up, if not, copy the settings from the CM11 APN that worked and create your own APN. I'm not familiar with what APN MetroPCS uses, but if you have the settings, you can create your own.

Will do that after I play around with CM11 4.4.4... I think I like it, it's snappy and fast and has a few extra features (wifi hotspot, torch, casting (chrome) all of these from the dropdown) and it is very customizable. We'll see if I find a reason to go back to Samsung 4.4.2....
I work at a MetroPCS in southern CA, below are the APN settings I use on my Galaxy S5, as well as my wife's Note 3. Hope it helps!

first time flashing ROM. Tmobile Note 2
T-Mobile Note II running 4.3
Hi, I am looking for any assistance. I am new to customizing. I rooted my phone through odin (desktop).
I was looking at the Phantom Rom, and then I came accross Alliance Rom.
Which is better? I was really attracted to Alliance ROM, for ease of customization.
Also: On either ROM are these features still available?
Speaker Phone
Wifi Tether (how to access/open it)
Wifi calling
visual voicemail
GPS
Google play store still available?
Can I add a custom bootload?(How do i do it)
How can I transfer contacts from kies(on my computer) to the device?
Then also, A complete process to install/ flashing? the Rom.
I mean every step dumbed down( I know Im sorry, I am a quick learner though)
If theres anything else I should know or do?
Oh and I heard that there is another app installer like google play store, is there?
A response would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

Post links to the ROM threads you are interested in. It could save you from having issues later on. Alliance is not built specifically for the SGH-T889. I don't recognize the other ROM.

Alliance--- http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/development/rom-alliance-rom-t2875245
Phantom --- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737570
There are the two links. I thought they were available for the Tmobile Note 2? I take it the N7100 is a diffferent model than T-mobile's SGH T889?
If the case being that I cannot, or should not use these roms with my tmobile note 2, is there any other roms similar that you would reccomend?
This is where I originally found the "Phantom" Rom (although on this site it is just named S5/Note 3 Hybrid)
http://galaxynote2root.com/category/t-mobile-galaxy-note-2-roms/
I tried messaging the guy several ways and I have not received any responses from him in 2 weeks.
Thank You
Don't use N7100 Roms on the T889
You can use N7105 Roms.
ok, then how about this situation

Is the DN3 ROM compatible for my phone?
what features will i lose(if any) by flashing,
do these still work?
Speaker Phone
Wifi Tether (how to access/open it)
Wifi calling
visual voicemail
GPS
Google play store still available?
Can I add a custom bootload?(How do i do it)
Also, does roaming work? and if i were to call tmobile to turn on/off roaming will i run into any problems?
How can I transfer contacts from kies(on my computer) to the device or is there another program i can use?
how about restoring backups of apps/data/contacts from TItanium back up, are there any issues with that?
I also was told that there is a way to add an FM radio to my phone as well, would you be able to assist me with this, or point me in the right direction?
Then also, A complete process to install/ flashing? the Rom.

Q&A for [SPH-L520][ROM][UNOfficial][4.4.2] CyanogenMod 11.0 for Sprint S4 Mini [3/19]

Sprint Galaxy S4 Mini Custom Rom Problem
I am having issues with s0be's custom rom build for the galaxy s4 mini (model SPH-L520) in which if using the stock messaging or Hangouts app, mms group messages come in the separate sms threads for each contact. I tried using 8sms and the app worked, but any message that I got in the group text from my friend with a Windows Phone come in without any text in the message. This is really aggravating and I am wondering if anyone has experienced a problem like this and may know how to fix it. Thanks in advance.
How do I install this rom?
Hi,
I originally rooted with Kingo with my s4 mini, how do I exactly install this rom so I don't brick my phone? Also, would my data be erased if I flash this rom?
SPH-L520
After Flashing ([SPH-L520][ROM][UNOfficial][4.4.2] CyanogenMod 11.0 for Sprint S4 Mini ) i have no signal at gsm even 3g,2g,4g,LTE.plz advise me to do correct settings.i m new user hope my seniors will help me to fix signal issues.
Regards
I am having a hard time getting the CWM-based recovery installed on my SPH-L520 with 4.4.2.
I've tried using Odin with the recovery.tar.md5 file as well as Heimdall with the .img, but don't seem to be having any luck.
The recovery always reverts back to stock.
Anyone have detailed install instructions or tips?
Root Problems
I just flashed cm-11-20140319-UNOFFICIAL-serranoltespr.zip (cm-11-20140319-UNOFFICIAL-serranoltespr.zip)
but i can't tell if my phone is rooted. When i type 'su' into terminal, I don't get an error, but I don't get a root terminal either.
SPH-L520 Unofficial Rom
Hey, I have a did this root method, but I'm having a couple problems.
1) Call volume does not adjust.
2) If there is a + in front of the number, the call will not go through.
Has anyone had any luck fixing these issues?
Any fixes
Is anyone even reading these? We cannot post to the main message board until we have 10 posts, and it seems like no one is addressing these posts from junior members.
---------- Post added at 01:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:29 PM ----------
I used this method: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_serranoltexx
And the files from the first post on this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2669991)
I cannot flash stock recovery and when I attempt to restore my backup or restore phone to stock settings, the phone will not connect to sprint network at all.
Please advise.
Has anyone gotten themes to work? I install the theme apks nicely, however they don't show up in the theme window in settings. Also has anyone gotten expanded desktop to work from the settings menu? It only seems to work if I bring up the power menu and change it from there.
EDIT: Apparently cm10 themes work but cm11 themes don't. Does anyone know why?
apn config problems
I'm having a similar problem. I'm not using the device on Sprint, but a Sprint MVNO called Ting.
I've tried editing the apn xml file a number of time, flashing various apn files and so forth. Nothing seems to take, despite the settings being relatively simple.
Is this hard-coded somewhere? Data is working fine, cell is working fine, but MMS is a no go.
[SPH-L520][ROM][UNOfficial][5.1.1] CyanogenMod 12.1 for Sprint S4 Mini [8/15]
s0be,
I have a hunch as to why your mobile data cuts out on cm-12/12.1.
I actually found your cm-11 build for this device very helpful in bringing up the US Cellular version of the S4 Mini.
Since then, I have (with lots of help from others) be able to get cm-12.1 working with mobile.
The problem I had is fixed if you use this revert: 98016 on cyanogenmod review (sorry, I am not allowed to post any urls).
Revert "Revert "Telephony: DcTracker: Fix CDMA APN Data issues.""
This reverts commit 76e8804a224dbb13aeea0ad4df25ef8ac34fdca7.
There was logic removed in the DcTracker.java that was helping the serrano get mobile data going and reverting it gets you going again.
An alternative to get mobile working if you don't revert is to copy the LTE apn and make the copyied one's BEARER = unspecified.
I hope this helps.
Does anyone have issues with phone calls on the SPH-L520 where the caller complains about an echo (hearing their own voice)?
I have found that on another US variant of the serrano (SCH-R890), that if I use the STOCK libaudcal.so (to fix the voice volume adjustments like s0be did for the SPH-L520) that the echo issue for the caller shows up.
BTW, this is not an issue when on STOCK, so it is not my case or a plugged mic hole.
If I revert back to the serrano-common TM libaudcal.so, the echo is fixed but the voice volume can not be adjusted.
These observations are on cm-11.
For cm-12.1 and cm-13.0, I can only fix the voice volume adjustments but nothing seems to fix the annoying echo for callers.
is this completly stable now with all features working??
I have a Verizon Note 4, model N910V. I'm looking for a rom that has the WiFi Calling feature. My understanding is that only Samsung roms or roms that are closely related to them will have WiFi Calling. I've used Jasmine and Lineage roms, but they don't offer this feature. I'm almost willing to just install a stock firmware from Samsung, but isn't 6.0.1 MM the highest available for this phone?
Someone has to know by now how to get WiFi Calling capability on the Note 4 N910V.

Advanced/WiFi Calling Fix
This is how I got mine working; it's the same fix that @mharleston brought to light a while back.
Using any root explorer do the following:
-Go to /system/csc/ and find the sales_code.dat file
-Open with a text editor and change the VZW to TMB
-Save that file and reboot
-After the reboot go back to the same file and change it back to VZW and reboot again
Once it boots back up check in Settings and you should be able to access both the Advanced Calling and WiFi Calling
