Strong hard tough case for Quadlock? - Xperia Z1 Accessories

As the title suggests I need a tough hard shell case or at least toughened back to mount the phone.
Its going to then be mounted to handle bars so having it held seccurly is very important.

My Car Mount Solution

This is what i did.
Bought This car mount
Used "WOOT"(without ") to get 20$ off.
Shipping Cost: $5.00
Grand Total: $9.99
then i bought This cover to put the disk on
used "30htcoff" to get 30% off HTC Accessories
Total : US $7.04
grand total for a car mount...
17.03$
I have the same mount. works ok. instructions say mount the disk on the upper portion of the case, i found the middle works better if you intend on using landscape mode for GPS or Video. If you put it near the top, it doesnt stay in landscape mode for long, it slips down.
I use something similar, but more flush against the car surface for the Evo.

I tried the cheap car mount, but without the case. The disk adhesive wouldn't stick to the back of my EVO at all. Whenever I tried to lock the disk into the holder, it'd just twist off.

How easy/tough is the crystal hard case to put on and remove? Everytime you get in the car, you'd have to put the phone in the case, and take it out of it, when you get out, right?

I haven't gotten it yet. But i don't think that it'll be a major problem. It goes over the existing case. So i'm just going to put the disk on the clear cover, put that on the mount and whenever i get in my car just put it in the case.
I just ordered a Seidio active case and the mount that the OP linked. I'm hoping that disc is small enough to not annoy me if it's on the case all the time, but we'll see I guess. I'm afraid it's going to cause some wobbling issues when the phone is sitting face up on my desk.
Edit: I was just thinking, it would be pretty stellar if seidio offered an "exoskeleton only" type of sale so you could just throw the disc on an extra skeleton to slip on when in the car only... Wishful thinking I'm sure.
What do you guys think about this idea..
Get the same SoundGate mount but stuck the disc on the outer shell/exoskeleton of this two-piece case.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=699888
Then keep the exoskeleton in the car and when you want to use it as a mount just pop it into place..
I don't know how it feels in the hand without the exoskeleton though, and it wont be as secure but I had no intention of getting a case that strong, just a silicone one.
My main gripe is that I don't want to have a disc on my phone all the time...
edit: LOL just read the last post, seems like you were thinking the same thing..
Someone should contact seidio about that.

This is the setup I'm using with that exact case. I did have a problem with the disk sticking like someone mentioned earlier (I believe because of the ruberized texture on the case) so I epoxied the disk to the back. I can post picks of my setup tomorrow. Maybe a vid too.
That'd be wonderful.
I feel like without the exo it'll look bad...
So a good video or couple pictures would be great, maybe even a short review. xD

i bought a 4 finger capture (for the phone) with a swivel mount for $15 at AutoZone. dam swivel didn't work so i had to add some Metal putty to harden the swivel in place. $5
then when i stuck it to the windshield the glue on the pad to the mount came apart from the heat in the car. super glued it for $3. then the pad's glue to the windshield came apart because of the heat and weight. so i super glued it to the windhield.
with the 4 fingers it grabs the EVO good enoungh that it doesn't fall out AND i can drive around and shot a video of where i'm going. i offset the EVO a tad so the camera has a clear view.
i mounted it to the top of the windshield where the polarized screen is and the videos are coming out pretty good - no blown out skies and the clouds are pretty good. now there is a bright line blowning out the sky and clouds when driving up hill but i can live with that.

Work's been busy the last few days and I've been too wiped to do anything after, so hopefully I can put something up tomorrow.
Update: the car was pretty hot the other day and when I went to put my phone in the "dock" the adhesive had softened up and the holder fell off of my mount, so I think I will be getting the epoxy out again.

had the same problem, what i did was leave the two pieces together, then slide the side with the power button into the case at a slight angle them pushed the other side down, now everything work properly
I've tried about every way possible . I did some searching and it seems lots of others on amazon are having the same issue and spigen is aware of it

Looking at the forums the last couple days, boy did I choose wrong. I ordered the slim armor and the glas.tr protector. I already know both will be faulty when they get here.
I see this as more of a user error. It comes down to how you put the case on.
Put the case on in one piece and you won't have problems.
Put the tpu on, then put the hard shell on after and you'll run into issues (stuff binds up).
This case is a very tight fit to the phone. So you have to be careful installing it.
I'm glad I saw this thread, I was going to ask the same thing myself. The volume buttons work perfect but the power button sticks.
I just received this email:
We are very sorry for inconvenience, we have received revised rubber part, please advise whether you would like us to send you new rubber part? or whether you prefer a refund.

I would take their offer. I'm still waiting for an email back myself. I was reading on Amazon reviews that Spigen is sending customers a new backplate that corrects the issue.
Sent an e-mail to Spigen 2 days ago on both Amazon and their website regarding getting a replacement Slim Armor, have gotten no response . Hope I get one soon. I love the way the Slim Armor feels. As long as the issue is fixed this will be my permanent case.

Do you work for apple? Jk
He did say he tried installing it different ways though.
It's just a case, it should work without having to do anything special. Most people aren't reading these threads or trying different ways to install a simple case for it to work the way it was intended.

I tried putting mine on over a dozen or so times in just about every way imaginable. Even did some trimming and tried sticking the point of a knife under the rubber power button flap and pull it through more once the phone was put in the case and it still has the issue. Even tried stretching the hardshell out a bit. Though all in all I'd say that both the volume and power buttons are too easy to depress in general and the tightness on some units makes the issue even worse. I contacted Spigen and hope to get a replacement as I really don't see any other cases out there I want . If need be I'll just completely cut the power button out even though I shouldn't have to do that.
It's not user error. Some cases seem to be fine, but some have the button issue. The inside nub that presses the hardware button is too tall. I trimmed mine and it is perfect. Great case otherwise - protective and not bulky.

Have the same exact case. Was one of the first people to order it. I don't have a problem with the power button sticking. So it probably isn't every case. I install it by having both the rubber and plastic part together first and pushing the phone in.

Need Some Tips for Removing SPG Neo Hybrid Case for Nexus 5

I've just put the Spigen Neo Hybrid Case on my Nexus 5 today just to give it out a try today, and just noticed on how hard and cringing it is to remove it from my Nexus 5, I've tried bending the rubber at the bottom portion near the usb port, but worried the band might crack, the top portion is even worser, the sides are more flexible, but nothing able to push out from the body of the phone?

What's the Best and Safest way to remove this Case? If anybody knows the right procedure or some good tips on removing this case I'd gladly appreciate it very much, thanks.
Take the band off first, then the rubber case.

i don't think you'll break the phone removing the case.. but if you do figure out a "best" way then post it.. because that thing is a *****. i guess that's what you want. easy to install and hard to remove,, but seriously that thing ain't coming off unless you really want it to.. i've removed mine to show people it's a case and what the phone looks like and they usually tell me to stop when they see how difficult it is.

Is that safe? Others said and recommend to remove the band and the rubber case as a whole, so the band won't bend or anything? Lemme give it a try though, might work.

I have the case, it's how I took it off when I used it. Never had any problems. I mean, it's a two part case. If it was meant to be put on and removed as a single piece you'd think they'd make it a fused hybrid case.
Tools you'll need:
Hammer
Chisel
Method
Place the chisel between the screen and the case and process the hammer away.
WARNING: Hammer may or may not slip from the chisel head and might likely smash screen. Be careful ! I will not take responsible for any damage cause to your device.

I've found the easiest way to pull the case off, is to pull a little on the rubber and then pull the plastic band separate from rubber then slowly pull the band up and off. I usually start a inch or so below the power or volume buttons. It gets easier as you do it. The plastic band is pretty resilient.
I was afraid to break it myself but you'll see what I mean by it's not hard or shouldn't take you too long.

I've noticed on the band that on the upper right side above the power button there isn't a tab that locks it into the TPU like the other edges. If you pull the TPU away slightly from the phone in that spot you can work the band off and then slowly separate the band.
Sounds confusing but once you try it once it's easy to do.
I tried removing the case once, and since then I been scared to put band back on.
My experience:
what I tried to do was remove the whole thing (rubber and band) at once. Terrible idea cause how tight and cringing it was.
I got the bottom part out first, then tried to remove the top with a bit force. It literrally opened up the actual back cover of my Nexus 5.
Gave me a heart attack. Luckily I was able to just snap it back on. I was able to remove the case though...
anyways after that scary experience, i did email spigen to see if they could provide me a tutorial or way to remove the case:
Thank you for contacting Spigen Support!
I always advise customers to take the Neo Hybrid off from the bottom two corners first.
This seems to work the best!
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you!

not exactly helpful..
I had the Neo Hybrid aswell. Almost broke the back plate off. And with broke I mean broke. The case fits so tight that I needed much pressure to get it off. I was scared like **** that I damage my N5... Never ever again. Naked is best!
At least the Rearth Ringke cases have uninstallation videos on the support page...just as tough though..

Titan Aegis

Ok, so I just received my Titan Aegis case. Sorry, no pics as I don't own a camera other than my N5, and it can't take pictures of itself . Initial thoughts are:
Fitment- Not great. Definitely not as clean as the Otterbox Commuter or Defender on my Galaxy Nexus. I also have a gap at the top as the rubber won't completely slip into the plastic.
Feel- SLIPPERY. If there wasn't some rubber to grip on to on the sides, this thing would go flying out of my hand constantly.
Looks- Decent. It's not a bad looking case, not as bulky as an Otterbox. Doesn't add too much to the thickness of the phone, nor to the height.
Will it last?- I think this case could withstand a pretty decent fall. The rubber is fairly thick, and the plastic would probably take the brunt of the impact.
Million dollar question: Is it worth the money?- If the case fit properly, yes. I'm going to have to contact Trident to see if they can do anything about the gap at the top. If not, then no, it is not worth shelling out that money for something that won't fit the way it is supposed to. But since Otterbox has no plans for a case for our lovely phone, I don't see us having very many choices if you need a fairly rugged case. I'll keep this up to date after I get in contact with Trident and maybe try to get some pictures posted up.
I'd check to make sure all the rubber parts are popped into place. I had a gap at the top as well until I made sure all the rubber was all snug everywhere else(camera/flash, sides, etc.), then all the gaps went away and it fits perfectly. Much better than any Otterbox I've ever owned.

I used to have the same problem with the case, but as the guy mentioned there is a specific way to add the hard shell. What I did was, instead of beginning with the power button side, I started with the volume buttons side. My gaps are closed, so it's not a flaw, just most of us were doing it wrong.

Looking for a custom image case with a card holder

Okay, I've been looking around forever for this-
So I have my school ID to get into buildings, and a lot of people have phone cases with a little slot in the back to place a card. They just put their IDs in the slot, so they can just tap their phone to unlock the door. I also know some people who just have more rubbery phone cases (TPU I'm guessing) that you can slip the ID behind the phone, and it not loosen the case up. Right now I have a hard plastic case, and trying to put my ID behind it doesn't work. Would a TPU case be flexible enough for me to put my ID in the back without messing up the fit? I know I could just get a case with the card slot, but I want a case I can get a custom image on the back of, and I've only seen that on hard plastic / TPU cases. Thanks for any tips.

A transparent TPU would do the trick for you but you should bear in mind a couple of things:
1) The HTC One back is not flat but curved
2) Thickness of the card (if it is too thick it may push away the TPU case from the edges (because of point 1)
3) Thickness of the TPU case (too thick it will not let you see through, too think it may not be good for your phone
I think the best course of action would be to go find a TPU case with the phone and the ID and just test.

As poster said above, this phone as a pretty concave curve that can either damage the case or the ID card. Best to get a "wallet case" like linked above and use the front of your phone to utilize the ID instead of the back.
