[Q] If I update using CyanogenMod Updater, is my Flo wiped? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi,
I have a Nexus 7 running CyanogenMod 11 with the 20131209 Nightly. If I use the CyanogenMod updates feature in my device settings to update to the latest nightly (or stable when it comes out), is my data wiped?
Thanks,
Orange

No, data are only wiped if you update from a ROM XXX to an other ROM YYY. For example, you have to wipe data if you have CM10.2 and want to upgrade to CM11 or SlimKat, but data wont be and don't need to be wiped from CM11 to an other CM11 !

[Q] Updating the ROM

Hey guys, I'm on PA right now. What I want to know is how to update the rom? I always end up with a broken rom. Please tell me how to do it?
Wipe cache or dalvik cache or both?
Do I need to flash gapps again or no?

Gapps update

Hello,
I am using Cynogenmod 10 and I recently downloaded the newest Gapps to update my existing ones. My question is:
Can I just flash the newest Gapps? If not, what would the process be?
Thank you very much!

I believe you just have to delete cache and wipe dalvik and install the new gapps.
Make sure Gapps is for JB 4.1.2 and not 4.2.1. CM10 is still on 4.1.2. unless you are running the unofficial 10.1 rom.
Edit** 10.1 Nightlies are now rolling out. So flash 4.2 Gapps if you are planning on running it

Yes, it is worth upgrading it in my opinion. There are many fixes and some interface changes as well
Download CM12.1 zip and dirty flash it over CM12.0 It must work without a wipe and losing data but I would suggest to make a backup with Titanium backup before doing so or via recovery. This would ensure that you do not loose any data!
