[Q] Updating firmware with Custom Rom - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I am excited to test out santod040's unsense one 4.4 rom when it is released and I wanted to upgrade my firmware in preparation. Will any of the update (kernel or radio) affect my current rom negatively?
I assume the stock recovery is not needed for a firmware upgrade?
currently using NuSenseONE 7.3 but I try out new ones all the time.

You dont need to upgrade your firmware. When the rom comes out just flash it. Also, there is no official 4.4 update for the one. Hope this helps.

Actually if you're on .10 or older you will need to upgrade your radios at the least, but it's best to do it all. You won't have voice or audio in calls without .15 or newer. You don't need stock recovery. You can just flash the latest firmware followed by the new Rom and be good to go. You won't need the boot.img from the firmware .zip so you can just remove it from the .zip file (without actually unzipping the file) if you want.

Flashing Custom ROM and Radio Update

Hi.
I would like to flash a Custom ROM, this will be my first ROM Flash so I've got some noob questions.
My Inc2 is currently ROOTED (by Revolutionary), S-OFF, with SU on Android 2.3.3 , all else is completely stock.
I want to flash the andyBONESTOCK 5.10.605.9 ROM. (I've already go this file and the associated SU file). This ROM is based on the latest from Verizon/HTC and is all Stock except is rooted/s-off.
Will this ROM Flash also update my Radio Baseband to the latest 1.09.01.1111 ?This Base Band is in the latest Verizon/HTC update
I believe it will not. And that I will have to seperately flash the radio.
To update the radio I believe all I have to do is rename the Radio file to PGIMG32.IMG, put it in SD Card root directory, reboot phone in HBOOT, and install the file.
Is this correct?
Thanks,
Yes. That is correct. I would also suggest doing a nandroid backup before flashing the ROM just in case you run into problems and need to get back to where you are now. The only thing that won't backup is your radio.

and if for some reason you should not like the newer radio, you can just download the one you are currently on and rename it and Flash it the same way you did the update. just remember to remove the previous update from the root of yours sd card.
Rockin' the Miui Incredible 2 w/xda premium
thanks for the confirmations!
i'll backup my apps & data and try it.

Updating to CM10.1

Hi, I'm sort of new to this so I'm just wondering if I need to flash CM10.1 when I install it?
I'm currently running CM10 and installing the OTA nightly versions and those don't need to be flashed, or so I was told. They work fine.
So I decided to check for updates and there was 10.1 available, so I'm just wondering that if I got the OTA update and installed it, would I need to to anything else?
Thanks for the help
Yes, you need to have hboot version higher or equal to 1.28.
You also need to flash the boot.img and do a full wipe before flashing.
Flash new 4.2.2 gapps as well.

Need Help Updating

I am not new to the android / xda community by any means, but I can say that I am either missing something or information is incredibly dis-contiguous. That said, on my older HTC phones I pretty much went through hastle to get them rooted and then just flashed whatever Via recovery.
I have managed to figure out how to get root and flash custom recovery and all that jazz. I also had a custom rom at one point, but I like stock rooted better.
ANYWAY I am on Baseband L900PALJC and Build JRO03C. I keep getting those stupid update notifications and I would like to get updated to the correct Profile / Baseband / Radio / Stock Rom ETC. can someone briefly explain what all needs to be done or point me to a somewhat organized set of valid instructions ? I am currently downloading the newest toolkit.
You're already rooted so you don't need that toolkit. Go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2148604 and download the odex ROM and the All in One firmware. Flash the firmware which will upgrade that from LJC to MA7. Then flash the odexed ROM. You will be rooted, upgraded to the latest firmware and the latest stock ROM (MA7).

I think as long as you don't have a custom rom on it should be OK
But not %100 on that
Has anyone posted a flashable zip version of the OTA for the unlocked/dev version?
You need to have a 100% stock system (bar root), including the stock recovery and kernel, to flash an OTA as it requires the stock build to be able to upgrade it. Root files are additional so aren't checked, although you'll probably have to re-root the phone once the OTA is complete

If you're just S-OFF/unlocked but otherwise 100% stock the OTA will be fine. There are no RUUs available yet bar the Sprint Harman Karmon one - hopefully more will arrive eventually

[Q] Are OTA updates important even though I'm running a custom rom and recovery?

I have an international model HTC One M8 and it's currently rooted with S-ON, has TWRP installed and I'm using the ARHD Custom ROM.
I know to receive OTA updates I need to be on stock rom and recovery but is there any particular need to get these updates?
ARHD is updated quite often and I usually just dirty flash and sometimes clean wipe and flash the newest version of the ROM. Will I get all the updates I need through the rom or do I need to reflash stock and stock recovery and get OTA updates before flashing the newest version of the custom rom?
Also, a side question. Should I S-Off my phone? Are there any benefits for a regular user such as myself?

If you're happy to update when Mike releases a new version then just go with that - he uses the new OTA to update his ROM so you'll be getting the same benefits. Just make sure you flash the new firmware package to get the FULL benefits of the new update (new radio, kernel, etc)

So on the downloads page of ARHD website (sorry can't post outside links yet) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694917
Say there was a new firmware update and a new version of ARHD to match. I would go to the firmware collection link and browse through to get a zip of the latest firmware, flash that first and then flash the newest version of ARHD?

Yeah, when ARHD 7.0 comes out (based on 1.54.401.10) then it'd work best with the corresponding firmware package
