That's for the flash counter, "device status" is something (not clearly documented) checked by the live system on stock JB roms only.
KyrillosV9 has a patch to make it always show official, though

it is true, the i8160_reset_ANT.zip is for flash counter, however in my testing with custom rom 4.4.2, has also been reported in the state official

Information about Triangle Away & GT-I9300 Flash Counter

This is basically an FYI, for those, like me, who didn't know.
I was on omega v5.2, and had (1) in the flash counter (due to flashing CF root via ODIN).
-I Used triangle away to reset
-And I ended up on:
Custom bin: No
Current bin: Sam official
System status: Official
Whilst being on Omega v5.2.
I then went ahead and flashed, via CWM Omega 6.0 and still retained the same (as above) status.
Here is a video of what I mean:
Hope this helped!
-Dubbed

Out of interest, how do most know it?
I mean was it similar on the S2?
I wonder why your phone reacts so quickly when you press the home button - are you using a different launcher?

I'm using Zeam launcher - for the home button lag - disable the home button when pressed for S-voice.
I also got transitions & pop-ups set to 0.5x rather than 1x (in dev options under settings)
So if the phone get damaged/bricked and i sent it off to Samsung, they wont know that i had a custom rom on it when it was damaged/Bricked ?

pretty much yeah
As long as you can't get the device to boot, neither will they, and if they get it into download mode - hey presto your "official" even though you're on a custom rom

Doesn't matter - unless you send it in for warranty.
so will any custom rom show system status as custom, because the video in the first post states hes using a custom rom and his system status is official? and any official samsung firmware it change it back to official.
EDIT: just flashed insecure kernel to bump up the binary counter to +1 and now used triangle away and its reporting:
Custom bin: No
Current bin: Samsung official
System status: Offical.
It appears there may have been an issue when trying to reset it with triangle away.

there wasn't any issue...you were on a deodexed rom, and thus why it was set as custom.
Now you reset it, it's fine.
In terms of flashing -again depends how you flash it....watch the video I explain everything in it.
Apologies for being a total noob on this topic.
From what you've explained flashing via ODIN increments counter and flashing via CWM doesn't?

[Q] Issue flashing from 4.2.2 to 4.3

Hello All,
I have been using Illusion 4.2.2 and want to go to 4.3.
I have been facing the following issues -
1) After upgrading to the latest cwm (6.0.3.8), I tried flashing PA 4.3. With a clean wipe and format system, it gave me a status 7 error (installation aborted).
One of XDA members redirected me to this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321310. I followed this and following is the screenshot of what I have after upgrading the bootloader : (Below jpg which says "Just after upgrading bootloader)
2) I could now flash the rom but when I rebooted after flashing , I don't have root access and neither do I see any att network / data . Following are the screenshots -
(Just after flashing 4.3 Page 1/2 and No root access after flashing 4.3).

I know with illusion you have to ::Settings -> Developer options -> Root access to apps and/or adb. to get root access. Where are you getting basebands from? The latest is I747UCDMG2 but I747UCDLK3 should work too. Get them from HERE

Baseband is Here. I would suggest MG2 baseband as it is more compatible with 4.3 than older than LK3. Get it from the link i just gave you and follow instructions on the page. Only use odin for reverting back to STOCK.

I suspected that but since a lot of people are already using that rom and I made sure I am downloading d2att , those things are eliminated.
I am thinking the 4.3 flashing erased my previous efs folder and that is why it cannot find my imei number anymore - resulting in no network.

Anyways, I flashed stock through odin and looks like I have my network back.
Any recommendation of which 4.3 rom will not cause this again ? Anyone ?
try updating roms from ics up to 4.3and update modem and bootloader.

Note II (n7100) - Constant freezing and rebooting

Hi,
Have a Note II as an alternative phone. Apparently, the phone worked correctly until last month. It started to reboot, not too much, but it happened. Well, I tried to give a solution changing the ROM (when it started with the problem I was in 4.4.2 OmniROM). My first try was with Omega ROM, cause it was my first custom ROM when I bought the phone with 4.1.2 in, but the problem persist (maybe increment the number of reboots-freezes/day) so I changed it again to Android Revolution HD, but it only increment the reboots/freezes.
It seems that it's not a ROM installation problem or something like that, maybe it's a hardware problem, but I would like to hear your opinions about it.
Now the phone have:
TWRP recovery
Rooted
Android Revolution HD
I am thinking on put the stock ROM and bootloader with Odin. What do you think?
Thanks!
Could you enter recovery, format /system /data /cache and flash clean Omni > reboot >reboot to recovery >flash Gapps> reboot and observe without installing any apps. Until it freezes or reboots anyway.
My dad also has note 2,he had the same problem on many different roms.
He had to give it back to repair. They've replaced power button and something else, after that the phone seems normal.

Hi mat9v,
Thanks for your reply. I am in the office now, but I will try it as soon as I can. I thought on your suggestion too, so I will give a chance .
In case of it does not working, if I restore to stock ROM, will it restore the bootloader and recovery automatically too?
My actual bootloader if I am not wrong, is MJ5 bootloader (to fix the WiFi problems with custom ROMs in 4.3).
Thanks!

Yes, it will overwrite both bootloader and recovery, unroot and so on. Be careful with KNOX and look for TriangleAway to reset flash status to factory.

If you want to return the phone to service center you mast be careful to maintain KNOX status 0 and Software status: Factory or they may refuse to fix the phone (warranty void by messing with software) - it's not such a big deal here in Europe but in US there are some stupid rules like that. So long as you remain on MJ5 bootloader you should have no problem with KNOX when you flash Samsung firmware but Firmware status: Modified vs Factory require using TriangleAway program to reset specific counters. Find it on Playstore and follow the link there to explanation on how to proceed.

Hi mat9v,
Just fyi, I am from Europe . So this mean that I should check if Firmware status is "Modified" or "Factory" and KNOX = 0. In case of it is "Modified" (most probably right?) or KNOX = 1 or more, I must use TriangleAway to reset the counters.
That's okay, thank you all for your help . I will try and give my feedback asap!

You can't reset KNOX counter if you are on a bootloader newer than MJ5 (it's been tested that on MJ5 you can deal with it by flashing earlier firmware along with older bootloader). More info HERE

To check bootloader install "Info" by Nag from Playstore and look in OS category.
Yes, but it will flash bootloader newer than MJ5 I think (MJ9 if my memory serves me right) and you may not be able to set KNOX to 0. Also you must play with TriangleAway before flashing stock 4.3 because it does not work on stock (root required).
Since you are in Europe, it should not matter too much (according to European law) so if someone makes any heat just say that it a law

Yes, and it is probably the reason for Android Revolution problems. If I remember correctly it is a 4.3 rom and they have compatibility problems with older bootloaders - the results are random reboots and freezes (there is a lot about it in Phoenix rom thread). To comfortably use TW 4.3 rom it's best to update bootloader to MJ5. AOSP roms should not be affected though so I suppose that there was some other cause for this. You can flash 4.1.2 on this bootloader without issue, be mindful to safeguard data from your internal sdcard as you may loose them all.
I would advise testing standard 4.1.2 version and if everything works fine, flashing something new (with MJ5 bootloader for compatibility sake).

To fully reset the counter it has to be done in certain order. I do not remember exactly in which order the sequence of events should proceed but it went something like this:
- run triangle away
- reboot
- enter download mode (odin version)
- flash stock rom
If you reboot even once to custom rom (this I'm certain) or even custom recovery (I think) the triangle away effect will be gone and the count returns to 1 because it detects custom rom/kernel.

Very little information you give to help you out.
What is your current status concering latest firmware you flashed or updated to, bootloader eg.?
What CR are you on, under which circumstances your device shuts down?
how to I know about my bootloader? what is cr?
firmware is xxufnd3
it shuts down sometimes on its own, sometimes after a call ends.

Download phone info app for samsung from playstore and in there you'll see your bootloader version.Let us know which bootloader you are on.CR means custom rom. So which custom rom are you running? Also while replying click on "quote message in reply" at the bottom of the reply box so the person gets notified about it or else we might not visit this thread to check if you have replied to us or not and you'll be left wondering.

Bootloader is your problem since it's an old one phone is unstable. In my signature where it says version 4&5 click on it and search for MJ5 bootloader ( Knox free 4.3 bootloader ) and flash it using Odin there are instructions on that post on how to flash bootloader via Odin. Also another option you have is flashing Kitkat bootloader ND3 (Knoxed bootloader which voids warranty but you'd be able to charge your phone by turning it off unlike MJ5 you can't charge your phone by turning it off it will boot right back up but this bootloader will preserve your warranty ) So once you decide which modem you need according to if you want to preserve warranty or not your phone will be stable and ready to use like the rest of us . Good luck.
You'll find ND3 bootloader in that same version 4&5 FAQ link of mine .

Please study the video that I have attached first. It is recommended to disconnect the network before installing the ROM.

wipe user data by factory recovery. It looks like you haven't skipped the ROM properly.

You can try to restore factory again. Are you using EU ROM to flash?

If you aren't able to get it to work try using "Shortcut Master" app (Download via Play Store) and try to launch the update settings with that.

I didn't Found the System Update.
I found the Localupdate activity on the Factory Test.
It's opend and i clicked on the rom, the Installation dosen't start. Did u know another way to install the rom on the phone like Flash it.
It might be a long shot, but you could try erasing app data of the system update app:
Settings -> App Info -> 3 dots in the upper right -> Show System
Then scroll down to System Update -> Storage -> Clear Cache + Clear User Data
Since I'm not sure if this will work at all, you might wanna try a reboot afterwards, if you still can't access the system updater.
