This is basically an FYI, for those, like me, who didn't know.
I was on omega v5.2, and had (1) in the flash counter (due to flashing CF root via ODIN).
-I Used triangle away to reset
-And I ended up on:
Custom bin: No
Current bin: Sam official
System status: Official
Whilst being on Omega v5.2.
I then went ahead and flashed, via CWM Omega 6.0 and still retained the same (as above) status.
Here is a video of what I mean:
Hope this helped!
-Dubbed
Most know this already but thanks for the video for those who might not know :good:

I mean was it similar on the S2?
I wonder why your phone reacts so quickly when you press the home button - are you using a different launcher?

I'm using Zeam launcher - for the home button lag - disable the home button when pressed for S-voice.
I also got transitions & pop-ups set to 0.5x rather than 1x (in dev options under settings)
So if the phone get damaged/bricked and i sent it off to Samsung, they wont know that i had a custom rom on it when it was damaged/Bricked ?

As long as you can't get the device to boot, neither will they, and if they get it into download mode - hey presto your "official" even though you're on a custom rom

Doesn't matter - unless you send it in for warranty.
so will any custom rom show system status as custom, because the video in the first post states hes using a custom rom and his system status is official? and any official samsung firmware it change it back to official.
EDIT: just flashed insecure kernel to bump up the binary counter to +1 and now used triangle away and its reporting:
Custom bin: No
Current bin: Samsung official
System status: Offical.
It appears there may have been an issue when trying to reset it with triangle away.

there wasn't any issue...you were on a deodexed rom, and thus why it was set as custom.
Now you reset it, it's fine.
In terms of flashing -again depends how you flash it....watch the video I explain everything in it.
Apologies for being a total noob on this topic.
From what you've explained flashing via ODIN increments counter and flashing via CWM doesn't?

Hi,
I had stock 4.3 firmware on my att i747 galaxy s3, then I decided to flash cyanogenmod. everything went well but i dont really like it.
Now I want to go back to stock. I tried flashing the stock rom with odin but it fails and it says this on the phone:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I747
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (2 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Warranty Bit: 1
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2
SW REV CHECK FAIL : Fused 2 > Binary 0
The android version it shows is 4.3.1 and im able to use it normally with the cyanogenmod.
What can I do to flash a stock rom back?
EDIT: used triangle away and the custom binary download says "no" now and the current binary says "samsung official" but still get the same problem.
Thank You

You need to flash a stock ROM that has no boot loader attached to it. I just reverted my S3 back to stock from CM11 so that I could sell it. Flash a Rom.zip through recovery and it should work fine. I see you are ATT so I suggest this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998. You have the choice of Stock Rooted without bootloader which is what you will be looking for. This thread also has everything you may need. Do not attempt to use Odin to flash roms with older bootloaders or you will find major issues.
You will almost definitely need to wipe everything so back everything up and be sure to take a Nandroid.

In that thread you have 2 good options that I can see. Scroll down and you will find one ROM by upndwn4par/full and another debloated directly under it. Which you chose depends on if you want Samsung/ Google software on it. The upndwn4par file will have you closer to stock than the other. Please be sure to read a couple pages, even if you don't get any immediate knowledge from it you will become way more familiar with these processes. It's worth the time, and safer for your phone.

You need a custom recovery to flash this. CWM or TWRP. I'm not too sure how you got to CM without one but be sure you have one and then flash the Rom from above. You can install CWM with the app 'Rom Manager'.

Thanks for all the help you gave me so far.

You can not flash that S4 port. It says it is specifically for the Galaxy advance. Also you are correct that the Samsung player requires Touchwiz. Try Power Amp, it has pretty good reviews and features. A 3rd party player is probably your best bet. You can cherry pick for features

I think you mean...if you "flash" a custom recovery.....well yes... there is an internal counter...that increases according to the number of times you flash...

Every time to flash ur device, Samsung ticks a flash counter and this voids your warranty. But dont worry Chainfire has a solution - Traingle Away which resets the flash to zero - its available in Google play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.triangleaway
But please note - Traingle away doesnot work on 4.3 bcoz of Knox !
So happy flashing !
Hi,
Have a Note II as an alternative phone. Apparently, the phone worked correctly until last month. It started to reboot, not too much, but it happened. Well, I tried to give a solution changing the ROM (when it started with the problem I was in 4.4.2 OmniROM). My first try was with Omega ROM, cause it was my first custom ROM when I bought the phone with 4.1.2 in, but the problem persist (maybe increment the number of reboots-freezes/day) so I changed it again to Android Revolution HD, but it only increment the reboots/freezes.
It seems that it's not a ROM installation problem or something like that, maybe it's a hardware problem, but I would like to hear your opinions about it.
Now the phone have:
TWRP recovery
Rooted
Android Revolution HD
I am thinking on put the stock ROM and bootloader with Odin. What do you think?
Thanks!
Could you enter recovery, format /system /data /cache and flash clean Omni > reboot >reboot to recovery >flash Gapps> reboot and observe without installing any apps. Until it freezes or reboots anyway.
My dad also has note 2,he had the same problem on many different roms.
He had to give it back to repair. They've replaced power button and something else, after that the phone seems normal.

Hi mat9v,
Thanks for your reply. I am in the office now, but I will try it as soon as I can. I thought on your suggestion too, so I will give a chance .
In case of it does not working, if I restore to stock ROM, will it restore the bootloader and recovery automatically too?
My actual bootloader if I am not wrong, is MJ5 bootloader (to fix the WiFi problems with custom ROMs in 4.3).
Thanks!

Yes, it will overwrite both bootloader and recovery, unroot and so on. Be careful with KNOX and look for TriangleAway to reset flash status to factory.

If you want to return the phone to service center you mast be careful to maintain KNOX status 0 and Software status: Factory or they may refuse to fix the phone (warranty void by messing with software) - it's not such a big deal here in Europe but in US there are some stupid rules like that. So long as you remain on MJ5 bootloader you should have no problem with KNOX when you flash Samsung firmware but Firmware status: Modified vs Factory require using TriangleAway program to reset specific counters. Find it on Playstore and follow the link there to explanation on how to proceed.

Hi mat9v,
Just fyi, I am from Europe . So this mean that I should check if Firmware status is "Modified" or "Factory" and KNOX = 0. In case of it is "Modified" (most probably right?) or KNOX = 1 or more, I must use TriangleAway to reset the counters.
That's okay, thank you all for your help . I will try and give my feedback asap!

You can't reset KNOX counter if you are on a bootloader newer than MJ5 (it's been tested that on MJ5 you can deal with it by flashing earlier firmware along with older bootloader). More info HERE

To check bootloader install "Info" by Nag from Playstore and look in OS category.
Yes, but it will flash bootloader newer than MJ5 I think (MJ9 if my memory serves me right) and you may not be able to set KNOX to 0. Also you must play with TriangleAway before flashing stock 4.3 because it does not work on stock (root required).
Since you are in Europe, it should not matter too much (according to European law) so if someone makes any heat just say that it a law

Yes, and it is probably the reason for Android Revolution problems. If I remember correctly it is a 4.3 rom and they have compatibility problems with older bootloaders - the results are random reboots and freezes (there is a lot about it in Phoenix rom thread). To comfortably use TW 4.3 rom it's best to update bootloader to MJ5. AOSP roms should not be affected though so I suppose that there was some other cause for this. You can flash 4.1.2 on this bootloader without issue, be mindful to safeguard data from your internal sdcard as you may loose them all.
I would advise testing standard 4.1.2 version and if everything works fine, flashing something new (with MJ5 bootloader for compatibility sake).

To fully reset the counter it has to be done in certain order. I do not remember exactly in which order the sequence of events should proceed but it went something like this:
- run triangle away
- reboot
- enter download mode (odin version)
- flash stock rom
If you reboot even once to custom rom (this I'm certain) or even custom recovery (I think) the triangle away effect will be gone and the count returns to 1 because it detects custom rom/kernel.
I need to return my phone for warranty repair. I have a SGH-M919
I had been trying custom ROMs, but I have returned to my stock (non-rooted) system backup image (THANK YOU to the XDA development community that made it so easy to go back to my stock system).
When I go into download mode, the small print at the upper left of the screen says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-M919
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
CSB-OEM_CONFIG_LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
(last line in grey)
Since the only software on the system that isn't stock is the recovery (TWRP), can I just use Odin to flash the stock recovery? Or do I have to flash the whole phone? Do I need to use Triangle Away?
Appreciate tips!
Yes you HAVE to use triangle away for warranty purposes, go back to stock then root with cf root method, I can't remember the name of it bt it and then it will root it ONCE so install triangle away and reset flash counter and your system status will say custom still so what you're gona do its boot into recovery, the root method I'm talking about will not make u flash a custom recovery so the recovery you're going to see its gona have purple letters with an Android logo I think and then just factory reset the phone which will delete triangle away and the root method I told u nd ur system should say official and flash counter will be at 0

Thanks for the replies! Sorry to come back at you a little late, but I found "The Odin Thread" to be an excellent guide for this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258628
What you guys should note is that in some cases, NO you do not need to root and use Triangle-Away, because the "Official" ROMs that are available on that thread will restore some devices to 100% stock. At least that's how it went for me.
That said, I am assuming the CSB-OEM_CONFIG_LSB value here is ok??? Is there anywhere someone has posted what this should look like for a 100% stock device? Here's mine after doing nothing beside flashing the *official* stock ROM:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-M919
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
CSB-OEM_CONFIG_LSB: 0x30

ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-M919
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
CSB-OEM_CONFIG_LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
(last line in grey)
Confirmation? Comments? You guys rule!

Bump on this. I scoured xda for a post of what this should look like from a stock phone but couldn't find anything definitive (again, mostly seems good, but not sure about the CSB... thing)
Pretty please?
Pah-leeze? This shouldn't be too hard for someone to verify....?
What exactly are you wanting to do?

All I want at this point is confirmation that the following is the same as a stock phone (I'm sending back to Samsung):
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-M919
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
CSB-OEM_CONFIG_LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
In particular, the CSB-OEM... value, is this a stock-looking number?
I really appreciate your responding!!!! (bonus would be any tips if I should look anywhere else on the phone that Samsung may look to verify if it is stock or not)
Your good to go. No need to look at anything else.

I wish I could click "thanks" more than once. I love XDA and all the people who make it what it is.... not the least of which is The Sickness!!!! It's an honor, sir.
I have a custom 4.4.2 rom which I like. However, my phone shuts down by itself..
1 - Will wiping do any good? (and what should I wipe?)
2 - Should I install a stock rom?
2b - what and when should I wipe after installing from odin?
With thanks

Very little information you give to help you out.
What is your current status concering latest firmware you flashed or updated to, bootloader eg.?
What CR are you on, under which circumstances your device shuts down?
how to I know about my bootloader? what is cr?
firmware is xxufnd3
it shuts down sometimes on its own, sometimes after a call ends.

Download phone info app for samsung from playstore and in there you'll see your bootloader version.Let us know which bootloader you are on.CR means custom rom. So which custom rom are you running? Also while replying click on "quote message in reply" at the bottom of the reply box so the person gets notified about it or else we might not visit this thread to check if you have replied to us or not and you'll be left wondering.

Bootloader is your problem since it's an old one phone is unstable. In my signature where it says version 4&5 click on it and search for MJ5 bootloader ( Knox free 4.3 bootloader ) and flash it using Odin there are instructions on that post on how to flash bootloader via Odin. Also another option you have is flashing Kitkat bootloader ND3 (Knoxed bootloader which voids warranty but you'd be able to charge your phone by turning it off unlike MJ5 you can't charge your phone by turning it off it will boot right back up but this bootloader will preserve your warranty ) So once you decide which modem you need according to if you want to preserve warranty or not your phone will be stable and ready to use like the rest of us . Good luck.
You'll find ND3 bootloader in that same version 4&5 FAQ link of mine .
