This has been around for a very long time. Not to sound like an a$$ but a simple google search of:
xda xperia play bravia engine
results in this first hit:

Bravia engine does work, but mostly only for viewing photos on the phone, other then that there isnt much need for it.
Enjoy.

You know, I would say for our play, it really didn't even do anything, It was nice to see it in the display settings on stock roms but other then that..

Yeah, after a few months I just removed it entirely, never used it after that.

Hello,
I have a question about the Mobile Bravia Engine and battery usage. Until now I did not leave the Bravia Engine checked for saving battery power. Now I have a good idea of my battery usage during the day and was wondering what my battery usage would be if I leave the Mobile Bravia Engine checked all the time.
Do you leave it checked and what does it do for your battery life? Or do you only tick it when you're going to look at some photos?
I'm on 2.3.2. Don't know if that makes a difference...
Thanks!
If bravia engine is ON all the time then it will not affect your battery. Bravia engine is only used while watching videos and photos. On my phone the Bravia engine is always ON and my battery last for more than one day !! hope that it will help you!
P.S: i am on 2.3.3.and my battery is very very good compare to 2.3.2. I will advise you to upgrade your firmware.
Thanks for the reply.
I would like to update but I haven't been able to update yet. Not yet available here.
I'm happy it doesn't affect battery life because it makes photos and films more beautiful to look at

As the Xperia Arc and Play has a lot of similarity in terms of the software, firmware version, is it possible to port the fantastic user friendly Arc defaults camera apps to PLAY?
Our PLAY camera is not worse than any other 5.1MP camera as I have tried it out few days. However, the UI is quite awkward...

Ofcourse it's possible. As you may have noticed we seem to have a shortage of developers for the xplay maybe when doomlord gets his play he MAY look into it
Thanks for your reply, I found PLAY is a bit unique from Arc and Neo. Not sure if it is a good thing. Fortunately it now updated with the HD video recording which make it more fun for the camera.

totaly agreed need to be ported only zhdzu can do it
May I know what or who is zhdzu?
I personally like the default camera app, and there are a few panorama apps in the market, I know they arn't as good as Sony's but whatever if you want a proper 360 view just record it.
What is so special about the Arc's camera anyway?

Its not very special, but its kind of bot fair as the Xperia series should all share the same camera apps that design by the Sony Ericsson. But as you can see, only Play is using the default camera apps that comes with the Android gingerbread...
Why Play does not deserve to get the better SE camera apps? Since it is the Playstation Phone Flagship of the company and its camera spec is fully compatible with the Arc's camera app.
Hi,
Does anybody knows if Doom is working on porting the ARC camera app to PLAY, I know he just got his newly Xperia PLAY, so I'm excited about what he will be able to create for ous phones.
Sorry for grave digging but has anyone made progress with this? I HATE the gingerbread camera app, it's quite unresponsive (compared to iPhones) and would love to try out one made by SE

Hi everyone!
I have an Arc S:
- blocked BL
- rooted
- flashed with Xperia_AniKing_v1.0.0_Ice Cream
- baseband: -58
I was watching the official video of the ICS alpha version and I noticed that the camera didn't work like mine.
There are two images from youtube, the Exmor R sensor works very well, in other hand, I can't get any resolution in a room with low ilumination.

Did I lost something during the flash?
No
Exmor R sensor is hardware related, not dependent on the software. So don't worry you didn't lose Exmor R capabilities.
But you will lose Bravia Engine and xLoud beacause they are software related.
You don't lose Bravia and xLoud!

Not in this ROM but ROMs like cyanogenmod don't have Bravia or xLoud.
I have the Bravia engine and xLoud installed.
But it seems that the exmor sensor doesn't work very well. I have to do a comparation with other terminals.

Are you using the Auto mode or manual settings? Try the manual settings you can produce better results.
I was using AutoScene.
I just did a photo with manual setings (+2 exposure) and it's not bad...
How to port xLoud and Bravia Engine to ICS 4.0.3 up, and where download file.
Thank.
Please help me.

Both of those are from the the Sony Xperia Arc and maybe a few other 2011 Sony Ericsson devices. Unless you run across someone here that's a developer and has moved over to the GN from SE, you'll probally be better off asking in a form like the Xperia X10 that has had both xLoud and Bravia ported to it.
Even when the Bravia engine was ported to the Xperia X10, it only worked for viewing pictures in the stock gallery app and xLoud, even though it increased the external speaker volume, was the cause of many blown external speakers.
Hi All,,,,,,,,
