Ubuntu dual boot (Maguro) simple installation - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

After the announcement of Ubuntu dual boot I visit their page
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/DualBootInstallation
(Please visit the page read it carefully to understand what I am talking about)
But I couldn’t understand how to do it under windows, so I open the dualboot.sh and took the link for Ubuntu Installer flashable zip and flash it through recovery.
http://humpolec.ubuntu.com/UPDATE-UbuntuInstaller.zip
I have Maguro with CM 11 4.4.2 installed (although not official “the one from Playfulgod”), with latest CWM recovery, and latest SuperSU installed. And of course opened boot loader…
After installing Ubuntu installer zip and booting to android you will find Ubuntu Dual Boot application, open it and hit install and that’s it. The installation may take more than 10 minutes…
After installation is complete you will have an app in Ubuntu to boot to android, and in android you have the app to boot to Ubuntu, uninstall it, or delete Ubuntu user data…
the first thing i noticed is when i set the time to GMT +3 it is changed in the setting but the clock in the indicators not updated, and of course it has the same lag in the previous Ubuntu touch builds if you know what I am talking about ( if you previously installed and try it ) so don't expect miracles with these developers builds and especially with Maguro specs..

Thanks man I'm going to try it now

Do you know what directories are added after installing this so you know what to delete if you don't want it on your phone anymore?

If you want to uninstall it, just open the app (in Android)and select uninstall Ubuntu and it will ask you if you want to keep the user data(that's the case if you want to update Ubuntu, because right now updates can not installed directly and you need uninstall it and then install the newer version with keeping the user data) or you can delete the user data and nothing should be left in your phone and the application also should restore your recovery (CWM, TWRP) as in the installation Ubuntu will use your recovery Partition.

OK, thanks. Just want to gather some info before I give it a try. In on toro so it'll be an experiment. Where did you find that zip? I looked through the Ubuntu site and didn't see where to download it for future updates.

Hmm, I'm getting no available channels under install Ubuntu and it won't let me install. I dunno if being on CM11 is a must or not as I'm on Gummy ROM. Might have to switch it up to see if that works. Didn't see that being a requirement in the wiki page.

It is mentioned that stock, AOSP, or cm is supported.

I know this won't be possible for awhile, but I wish this cmda and available for toroplus.

I installed official CM11 with supersu, and I'm still getting no available channels. I'm going to try and change my build.prop from toro to maguro to see if it changes. Don't know what consequences will come from doing that but can't hurt anything to try.
---------- Post added at 10:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:52 PM ----------
Yep, changing the build.prop worked. See what happens after install.

woow, pretty awesome, thx for the info.

Not good. Install froze, went to nandroid back to a different build, nandroids aren't showing up. It ended up putting 2 more 0 folders in my sdcard directory and moved a bunch of stuff. I had to spend 2 hours moving stuff back to their correct directories. Won't be trying that again.

Sorry to hear that. But don't be upset, Ubuntu touch still far from using as a daily driver. I don't know but may be with specs like Snapdragon 800 and Adreno 350 Ubuntu touch will be more buttery. So far GNex can't handle it well...

I'm not worried, I've been thinking of locking and unlocking my boot loader and starting from scratch anyways. I just hope someone else with a toro or toroplus reads this before attempting and finding themselves in a similar situation.

I guess that's kinda what I meant. Pulling an installable out of this leak that could be installed on other JB roms. I know people have made apks and such for previous Android builds... but a working JB T-mo wifi calling didn't exist until this I3 leak. If it's not possible just tell me i'm an idiot and i'll forget about it. lol
It's not really good topic for this thread, but in theory it more then likely can be done. But lots of research needs to be done to get libs files and such to get it to work. Its not a simple apk any more since it is built into the settings and framework. There are threads on the matter search WiFi calling and you will find a couple
Back on subject. Why is this in the general section? downloaded and wanting to install just not 100% sure I want to with rumors of it being updated again by the source that said this would leak soon. Decisions decisions.

[MOD]Half-Sized Nav. Bar Mod for Stock Nexus 7 Flashable Zip

Hi there,
After I have tried to shrink a titan black bottom navigation bar. I have found that it is required several steps to do in resizing this bar. So I created a zip file that can be flashed through CWM in order to resize a Nav. bar by half in both portrait and landscape orientation. In fact, this function can be found in PA (ParanoidAndroid) custom firmware. You can also find a manual way in resizing this bar by de-compiling and re-compiling framework-res.apk but if you are lazy to do or do not know how to do and want to stick with an original rom, this is your solution.
Sorry that I could not provide a screenshot but after modifying you will be surprised on a larger usable screen area on your N7.
*** Warning - DO back up your ROM first, in case anything goes wrong. This works on a stock firmware. Please do not try on a custom rom as I could not guarantee a result. Edit: Some users reported that this does NOT work with a custom rom as well as a stock 3G model. ***
Tested environment - Asus Nexus 7 Stock JB 4.2.2
Edit : A stock framework added for going back to default, in case forgot to do a backup.
Mirror Download Link : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43926639/Shared Files/HalfSize-NavBar_framework-res.zip
Downloading, will test in the evening

make a nandroid backup & try it yourself that is the only way you are gonna find out & if it doesn't then at least you can revert back to your backup without any problems
Will do, just wanted to see if anybody had tried it first I'll post back with results in the next few days
EDIT: So I tried this instead of doing my revision, and my ROM wouldn't boot. Naturally, I restored the nandroid backup, but when I rebooted, the same thing happened; it now hangs on the boot animation and won't do anyhting useful!
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Normally, a backup option in CWM would archive all data in a device except /sdcard. Which version of CWM did you use ?

Well, no plan for a custom ROM right now. I am going to make a mod on N4 first. Thanks for interesting my work anyway.
I've been looking for something just like this for my Nexus 4. Anybody going to be kind and make it? I've tried myself and failed several times already... No biggie since I made a backup before screwing my phone up several times. I'm running a stock rooted rom, and nobody likes to make many cool mods like this if you want to stick with the stock. After I get a smaller nav bar my next goal is to make the icons green.

Says "installation aborted". I'm a noob at development, so I don't know what happened. I added all of >system from XenonHD to Stock 4.3 rom along with a few build.prop changes but it's still screwing me over.
Yeah I never file swapped before .. Not sure how to fix that..

What do you mean you added all of >system to stock 4.3? Everything in /system makes up a custom ROM. If you replaced/overwrote everything in the 4.3 /system with the /system in XenonHD, you would basically just have XenonHD and it would not be 4.3 (unless it was to begin with). Maybe post what your goal is and we can help you get there . It'll be hard if you're trying to do it without compiling from source. It's not as easy as copying apk's from one rom to another.

[Q] Galaxy S3 (SGH-T999L) -- assert error when flashing from bootloader

Hello everyone, first off I want to say I have flashed many different phones with CM over the past few years. I have been a fan of android phones since Day 1. I got a G1 the day they came out and was pretty active in the scene up about about 2 years ago. I had a G2 for awhile as well, loved it... had CM on it as well. Anyway, the problem at hand is this Galaxy S III.
I have flashed many phones for friends and co-workers and whomever asks. I have NEVER had such a problem with flashing a phone as this one.
Apparently its a regionally special model (SGH-T999L).
I have downloaded CWM 6.0.3.1 after rooting with motochopper (easiest root experience ever), then I attempted to flash to CM10.1.2. The phone is currently on 4.1.2. When I attempt to flash from CWM, it gives the assert failed error. I have seen a few other threads about this but they were regarding other carriers (AT&T) and honestly I have tried a million and one things in attempt to get this to flash, I have seriously spent over 8 hours today trying to get this flashed to CM10.1.2 and even 10.1, I even tried using the touch version of CWM and tried TWRP to see if I'd get a different result... But no.. same result.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I have tried everything I can think of on all three platforms... Win7, MacOSX 10.6.8 and Ubuntu 10 and 12.... cannot get it to flash to CM no matter what. I am almost positive it is something I am overlooking. If anyone knows how to get past this please let me know, I will gladly send you a present via fedex.
Thanks in advance.
Senor Y.

Basically in some roms, particularly cm and aosp roms they check the bootloader to make sure its up to date. The T999L is just so new that many devs have not yet added its bootloader to the updater-script. Read the info I have in the thread I linked and if you need help editing the script, let me know.
Ill try to fix and upload the rom shortly, just to make it easy for everyone.

Thanks, I figured it was something stupid like that. I will fire up my windows VM and grab Notepad++ and get down to business.

Posted cm 10.1.2 in the T999L q&a thread. Edited to work on T999L.

Thanks again man, I followed your instructions and removed the assert lines... flashed with 10.1.2 -- then flashed the gapps back on and in business on the first try.
I am going to pass the link along to #Cyanogenmod on freenode because there wasn't anyone on there who could help me last night.
Senor Y.
Doc,
One last question, is there a baseband update I need to apply for CM10.1.2 / 4.2.2 ? -- I got the gapps installed and there doesn't appear to be problems yet, but the know-it-alls in #cyanogenmod seem to think I need to install a baseband update but they cannot provide me with a link... so I was wondering what your take on that is.
Thanks again,
Senor Y.

It's bad advice. Ignore it.
Very bad advice! !!
Baseband is your modem which should have nothing to do with your rom. They probably meant bootloader. But the T999L only has one version of firmware available right now, so it wouldn't be possible anyway. Theyd probably tell you to use MD5, but that would brick your phone!
Glad you asked!

FYI, (as stated before), the Nightly builds work with the MB7 bootloader
I thought i had an issue w/ the radio this morning, but it turned out to be a fluke... a reboot resolved it...
Thanks,

Installed last night running really well so far. Android build number is 4.4.1, so looks like Cyanogen team has already incorporated Google's latest source.
looked good save for wifi

I noticed some comments on the download saying after installing they fell into a boot loop, but I didn't have any problems like that. Only two issues I saw was rom mgr was gone and wifi couldn't get past "...turning on" (even after a reboot).
I went ahead and went back to my backup and will give cm11 a try every day or so - the wifi thing I suspect will work itself out.
Flashing CM11.zip Problem
mine is having issues flashing the rom, anybody know i running TWRP recovery could be my issue? Thanks in advance

Most likely yes, TWRP is the culprit. Try Philz Touch 6.0.0.8, it has been amazing for me. Make sure to do a complete wipe of system, Dalvik-cache, and cache, the option on Philz is called "complete wipe to install new ROM" and then make sure to flash 4.4 GApps as well.

Philz Touch worked perfectly. Thanks! now im running 4.4.1 and its running pretty smooth i must say. Two things i didnt not find was the capability to change the brightness with the notification bar and the option to remove the name of the apps on the home screen. If anybody finds a work around lemme know thanks in advance.
Cyanogenmod did a hell of a good job on this update!

the cameras fine. the original CM 11 had some bugs like the front facing camera freezing up a phone and causing a reboot but the newest updates based off Google's release of 4.4.1 which was to fix bugs with the camera on the Nexus 5 they have fixed all camera issues and it even takes photos/focuses faster than before.
anybody able to use ART runtime, mine just reboots but it doesn't change it. my nexus 7 with CM11 does run ART though, any luck?
everything seems to be working fine and super fast. calendar wasn't syncing but today's update thru the playstore fixed it for me. camera seems the same to me.
running 12-1013 nightlie.

I have read that if you use GAPPS, you need to flash a special ART compatible version if you want to use the ART runtime.

it was the same GAPPS i used on my Nexus 7 tho, ohh well, im gonna have to read up on it, i did try looking for info here at xda but couldnt find much, didnt have much much time to look though.
I just Installed the newest nightly and Xposed Installer+GravityBox(KK) to make up for the past CM features such as controlling the brightness witht the status bar and changing the launching application on the notification bar's Time & Date. One feature I am still missing is removing the names of the apps on the homescreen... If you like extra features and modifications to your guy's phone i highly recomment Xposed+Gravitybox. Here is the link for who ever is interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Im loving 4.4 even with a broken screen which i hoping to abandon soon, but it really feels like a new phone and new experience, i know there wasnt much change but still
