Hey,
I downloaded snake from http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ to try on my HD. But I doesnt work correctly so i wanted do deinstall it. But its not in the deinstall list, and its added an ugly entry to my start menu thats unremovable too. When i got to start - settings - menu and i deselect it there I get a message: cannot move that item.
What to do to get this stupid ass app of the HD?
still need help with this please
did you try removing it via ActiveSync?
no, how can i remove a program trough activesync? I only use that to sync my contacts and calendar data with my computer.
Connect the phone via ActiveSync, then as soon as Microsoft ActiveSync comes up, go to Tools > Add/Remove Programs.
ok, I see now, i tried but no it doesnt show up in the list. Very strange, if you want you can try it, just install snake from the link provided in the first post. But warning, youll probably have the same problem.
just remove it from the windows file in the start folder.
it'll be on the phone but you won't see it to bug you.
Every time I tempt to browse to this directory via ActiveSync or Mobile Device Center, the attempt hangs explorer and I have to disconnect the PPC, next I have to reset it as it is almost 100% non-responsive. I can browse any other directory without issue, but I need to get to Start Menu to adjust and sort the programs as the default arrangement sucks.

The \windows root dir does take forever to load, be patient especially on older PC.

<h1>Make your Spreadtrum phone faster, less buggy, and more usable!</h1>
This guide is supposed to tell you how to make your Spreadtrum phone better to use. I'm not good at introductions, so let's start.
1. Root your phone, and install ClockWorkMod. Make a full backup. If something goes wrong during the guide, you'll need to restore from this. An excellent guide for this is given here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2165554
2. Install Chainfire3D from the Play Store. Install the CF3D driver by opening the app and going to CF3D Driver --> Install. Get the NVIDIA plugin from here: http://nsood.in/nvidia.zip Put the plugin in sdcard/plugins/ Open CF3D on your phone, and scroll down. Select Install Plugins/Shaders and select the NVIDIA plugin (nvidia.zip). Then open "Default OpenGL settings" and scroll down. Select "Use plugin" and choose the NVIDIA plugin. This will speed up not only your games, but also the UI in general. If any error occurs, go to ERROR: How to Revert Back To Stock.
3. Get a root browser/explorer. I recommend the one by "JRummy". Also, get the following apps from Google Play, and make sure they are NOT installed to an SD card:
- A messaging app (for SMSs) (I'm using Messages+)
- A dialer app (I use Dialer+)
- A contacts app (I use Contacts+)
- A launcher (I use LauncherPro)
- A browser (I use Lightning)
Note that you can get any app, but these seem to work pretty nicely with my Micromax A27 with a Spreadtrum SC6820 chipset.
4. Set your downloaded apps as defaults. Open your root explorer, and navigate to /data/app. Long press your messaging (or any other of the above) app, and move it to /system/app. Repeat for all apps above. Now navigate to /system/app and delete all default apps, launcher first. Note that your phone may reboot after the deletion of an APK. Just open your root explorer and continue.
WARNING: Do NOT delete any other APK. Just the default SMS app, dialer, contacts, launcher, and browser. If any error occurs, go to ERROR: How to Revert Back To Stock.
5. Disable all special effects in all apps. This is a simple step, so I expect you to do this on your own, or Google it.
6. Use low-memory apps and games, for example, instead of Subway Surfers or Temple Run, play something like Line Runner or Hill Climb Racing. This helps reducing overall memory usage, allowing your system to have more breathing room.
That's it. Feels strange, being a noob somewhere and not being noob-friendly... Oh, and:
ERROR: How to revert back to stock
This guide has many steps going near the guts of Android. If, during any of these steps, your phone's gut goes off, and you're stuck in a bootloop, or can't get past the lock screen, do this:
Power off your phone and disconnect it from your PC. Open a Terminal/Command Prompt window in your ADB folder. Put this command in:
Code:
adb shell reboot recovery
Do NOT press Enter! Not yet! Connect your phone to the PC and power it on. As soon as you get the device logo, press Enter. You should go to ClockWorkMod. Go to Backup and Restore --> Restore --> DD/MM/YYYY --> Yes. Your phone will reboot automatically, back to a stock+root mode. Well, at least your phone works now!
If I helped you, press Thanks. Else, hate me silently for the rest of your natural life.
I'm trying to find information about a multimedia system i have installed in my Skoda, the sticker on the device says CNT100, which is manufactured by CarNeTek (device page - https://www.carnetek.com.tw/products_detail/15.htm, not sure if they are the manufactures or just a reseller).
The company which sell and install it locally are not willing to share any information about the device, and of course are not willing to unlock it (to install applications from the play store, tweak configuration, etc.).
On the device there are 6 dip switches (which i couldn't figure out what they control), and no visible button (to get into recovery), i can get to the play store, and install applications - but as soon the installation is completed - they get uninstalled (there is a list of application that are not automatically uninstalled).
The launcher looks like a custom local version, there is no way to get into the settings page and the notification bar cannot be clicked (or dragged down), if i click multiple times on the menu - i get a dialog for some configuration, where i'm prompt for password (the dialog has a random number on it - which i suspect is used to generate correct password).
is anyone familiar with this device? or can suggest a way to unlock it?
(attached images of the device and the boot screen)
Hey mrtowel!
Trying to figure out that as well.
You said "if i click multiple times on the menu"
Where is this menu? possible to send a photo of that?
I'm talking about an Israeli version
Seems to be customized by [email protected]
sorry but i was wrong describing the way to get to the password dialog, on the home screen - there is a weather widget, showing the weather on the left side and the clock on the right side, multiple taps on the weather allows you to reboot the device, while multiple taps on the clock gets you to the password dialog.
I made some progress with the device - still working on getting it unlocked completely, let me know if you want more details.

Hey!
Just found that new to me. Pushed 6 times on the clock of the weather widget and got a prompt for the password. I receive a 9 digit number with that.
Also found that if you do the same on the temperature indication, you'll be prompt for device restart.
So that's a progress.
Anyways, I will be happy to hear from you, what progress you have made on this.
Will send you a PM.
Did someone have any success?

try to get to app store (in case it is installed) through one of the installed apps using the 'rate us' option, you can also try and push a play store link through bluetooth, if it works - the android system will launch the play store app, and you'll be able to setup your account.
Once you get to the play store - download and install Googel app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox&hl=en) this will let you ask google assistant to 'Open Display Settings' (in my case this option let me enable the drag down menu, where i could easily access the settings and other stuff).
hope that helps
?
Hey did you succeed?
please help
Hi
did any one of you had any success with getting into setting menu ?

Thanks for the tips I've made it to download youtube! But how I can bypass the limit to install all apps from play store?
Also how can I cancel the restrictions of using apps during drive?
Thanks
Allon
Hey @mrtowel any change you can share some more details?
I tried connecting to the USB with my laptop to try doing some adb commands but it did not detect anything
I'm also wondering about the dip switch
and how to get the password bypass
Would really like to hear some more details if you can share please?
Just came here to see if can recall my steps from last time i played with the device (i kind of gave up, as it worked well with what there is, but recent update made it work really slow).
turns out there is a post on facebook (https://facebook.com/groups/gilcar/permalink/729881061134680/?comment_id=729883497801103), i'm going to try and build some utility to generate unlock codes (last time, i managed to get to an adb terminal, but i wasn't aware of the `pm hide` option to disable the installation blocker ****).
will post updates here if i get some progress
For anyone interested, attached the list of whitelisted apps. a jar to generate the code to enable tech mode and how i disabled the installation blocker
For the jar - you would need to get your device Wifi MAC address (see old post from 2019 on how to enable the navigation bar), which can be retrieved from the 'אודות' section. (run the jar by running 'java -jar codeGen_jar.jar 00:11:22:33:44:55' - replace the numbers with your device mac address)
Wifi must be enabled - before the next step
To get to the code, hit few clicks on the clock widget in the home screen would prompt you with a password (if the code generator matches your version of connect-it (if it isn't - see bypass admin mode workaround below), the codes would match), enter the unlock code (admin mode result from the codeGen output) and move to the apps section - you would see 'tech mode' application.
Wifi must be connected before the next step
On the tech mode application - you would have another code (tech mode result from the codeGen) enter it - and it would open a page to enable adb remote server (you must be connected to a wifi network to get it to work).
Connect to the adb using a remote shell from another device (or a laptop), to the specified IP on port 1917 (note that most mobile tethering options won't work due to networking limitations). If you don't have an accessible wifi network - see Wifi Workaround below
From adb, run the following:
to disable the application which blocks installations: pm hide com.ituran.installationblocker
Disable updates: pm hide com.ituran.systemupdateservice
Disable blocking applications while driving: pm hide com.ituran.driveusagemonitor
Tips:
While in admin mode, you can see all installed applications, and pin them to the start page of the home screen, recommend to pin Play Store app (as it is usually hidden)
Don't try to enable or enter 'Guest mode' (i tried it, and the device went into boot loop)
The codes generated are date sensitive, so either generate new ones if you won't use them in the same day, or change the device date.
Wifi Workaround : a workaround can be to install modified version of 'Remote ADB Shell' (attached) on the device, save it to your mobile phone, and push it to the device through bluetooth, this version is the same version as 'Remote ADB Shell' from the play store - only names 'Spotify' which will keep it installed on the device, after installation, run it and connect to 127.0.0.1 on port 1917 instead.
Bypass admin mode workaround : while Admin Mode enables you to view the hidden applications, in the above process, it mainly gives you the option to run the tech mode app. if the code for the admin mode isn't working for you, install 'Amaze file explorer' (attached - it was renamed to bypass the installation blocker) by pushing it through bluetooth.
You can find more details on this facebook post (not mine - but i used details from this thread to figure out how to disable the application from ADB)
Enjoy and drive safely.

Does this method work with Hyundai, Mitsubishi, etc...?
Hi Mr.
mrtoweldo you have any videos explain the steps in post #13 I will be thankful if you provide me with for urgent case.
thank you dear for great job
Does anyone here know of a list of background processes or apps to kill to ensure longer battery?
.
I've this a bit of a battle with this phone, especially with "Phone Services", which from what I understand is mainly other Apps making calls to it.
But I've made some progress, to be honest, the issue is Android is far to liberal with access it gives applications. But if they don't run or cannot access the internet, then they can't drain the battery. Here is what I did:
1) Stop Apps from auto-starting, or being started via other Apps. via Apps -> App Launch. When you disable "Auto Manage", it pops up and asks if the app should Autostart, Run in Background, Secondary Launch
2) Disable background Network access for ALL applications (search settings for Networks Access, then select "Advanced"), including system apps such as chrome.. Only re-enable for apps that do NEED it (i.e. such as Gmail)
3) Disable all unnecessary permissions, via Apps -> Permissions, especially thing such as Location. At minimum, set them to "Allowed only while in use"
Finally, the problem with Android permissions, is Google are self-motivated, I found several apps that I couldn't do this for (including Chrome, which was particularly battery hungry). In addition there are dozens of "permissions" that they don't want you to access. But if you're willing to get your hands dirty, then look into using and Ice Box with Shizuku (it's fairly easy) you can.. In addition, you can use ADB to uninstall all the bloated Apps.
App Ops - To get access to all those "inaccessible" permissions. I used this to change all the backgrounds permissions, and remove Apps abilities that prevent the phone from "Sleeping"
Ice Box - To freeze all Unecessary Apps
Note, both the above use a secondary App called Shizuku, all can be installed from the Play Store. But to allow Shizuku to get the system-level access it needs, it must be started using ADB.. The App runs you through it.
Whilst I've uninstalled quite a few apps using ADB, this can cause problems if you're not careful, so I came to the conclusion its best to freeze them with Ice Box. This is what I've frozen so far:

Hi evil,
Appreciate the much needed reply. I assume app ops, ice box and Shizuku can be run withourt root since I'm on emui 10 and the bootloader is locked. Got a few questons for you...
1) I can't find ice box in the playstore. The closest I saw was an app called app freezer by mobizsystems. Could this possibly be it and was renamed? If not please post a link to it.
2) Just to be sure, once i install Shizuku, it'll run me through what to do like a tutorial?
3) For the long list of apps you provided that you froze, could you also list what each of these apps are for?
.

This is the App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.catchingnow.icebox&hl=en_GB
2) Just to be sure, once i install Shizuku, it'll run me through what to do like a tutorial?
So Shizuku provides the API that Icebox and App Ops use for controlling the phone... It can work without root, but it requires a little tinkering. Follow the step Shizuku tells you, but in a nushell:
1 - First enable the Developer Options Menu (Google how to do it), then in the Developer options enable USB Debug
2 - Installl ADB on your laptop or Mac (https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools)
3 - Plug your phone into the laptop / Mac
4 - Run the ADB command you laptop/mac that Shizuku tells you, this will start the Shizuku service on your phone
5 - You then use App Ops to control permissions, or Ice Box to freeze apps
3) For the long list of apps you provided that you froze, could you also list what each of these apps are for?
