Note 2 touch issues! - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, on using Note 2 for quite a bit time, I have experienced that the touch responsiveness is somewhat lower on Note 2 as compared to other phones I used (Motorola RAZR XT910, iPhone 4, Lumia 520). This is not evident while using phone for general purposes, but playing games which require flicking movements (e.g Subway Surf, Temple Run, etc.) I have to slide the finger quite a long way to register it as a flick as compared to other phones I used. This is tiring to fingers, and also you do miss when game advances.
Have you guys experienced it or it is just me?
Is there a solution to it?
ROM's Tried: Stock 4.1.2+Root and DN3 v3 + 240dpi mod.
Thanks.

i didnt experience issue like you. my responses touch quite fast and have no problem when playing game.
Maybe your phone lag during playing and cause the slow response touch

[Q] Lag on two players air hockey speed game

have you noticed the lag? it's absolutely impossible to play it with two players.
I've tested Air Hockey speed and Fun Hockey, both suffer from the same problem.
on HTC desire & samsung galaxy S.
I've tried Touch Hockey game on a friends IPhone and there is absolutely no lag!
any ideas why and how to fix it? is android flawed in that manner?
Thanks!
What kind of lag? I can imagine air hockey does not work well on the HTC Desire because of the multi touch issue when crossing axes anyway.
this is interesting, I didn't know of that multi-touch issue on the desire, I'll investigate - thanks.
it happened on the Samsung galaxy S as well, when one player moves his circle the other can't so the game doesn't run smooth, try it yourself, it's very clear.

[Q] Gaming

Hey guys been searching around and haven't found a post like mine so don't get mad if its already posted please. Thanks!
Anyways, is hard core gaming on the note 2 bad? I've got need for speed as well as some other games but I don't want to mess up or slow down my beautiful phone. Thanks!
PS Im not rooted
Most games will be fine. NFS, GTA, and other AAA titles will run 100% smooth.
I've found Bloons TD5 to completely turn the phone into molasses.

Any long term problems on the phone from playing? My old phone had some problems and a sprint rep said it was due to gaming.

As someone who uses his devices for gaming extensively, I can assure you that gaming on your Note 2 would be a great experiance. I have tried almost every high end game in the market on N7100, and till now have not experianced any sort of lag or any other problems. NOVA 2,3, Shadowgun, GTA Vice City Modern Combat 2,3, NFS Most Wanted, Dead Space, Backstab, Dead Trigger, BIA2, Virtua Tennis etc and originally PC games like Max Payne and GTA 3 etc all run very smoothly. The only problem I have yet had is with MC 4, but I think it's only because of a script I am running and not the fault of the device. I have also heard that there are problems with Asphalt 7 but as I had played it a lot on my Tab 2 I am not really interested in downloading it again.
My theory is that one shouldn't hold the most powerful mobile device in the world in his hand if he has no interests in gaming By the time I am done with this device I will have had my money's worth

Those who help noobs go to heaven. True story.
As said above, all games I have played run amazing on the N2. It's a great gaming 'phablet'. I have heard Asphalt 7 and MC4 are running a tad slow, but MC4 is having this issue on other high end phones as well. I will try MC4 very soon...
the two main games ive got on my note 2 are wild blood and nfs most wanted.
with nfs most wanted, the framerates are much more playable compared to my nexus 7. however, its still note quite at 60fps. it generally depends on the amount of action, but early game, it sticks pretty close to 60fps. late game, when you start having lots of high speed cars on screen, along with police in corvettes and road blocks, i've seen it drop down to 25fps. its still far more playable compared to my nexus 7 (nexus 7 drops to around 7-15fps around some of these parts), but its still a notable drop.
that being said, i do come from a PC gaming background, and i've got my computer set up so it never drops below 60fps at max settings, which is the only reason why i notice most of the drops and stutters. for most people, it will probably still seem really slow.
as for wild blood, havent played it much, but it seems to run at a fairly low framerate (lower compared to nfs mw anyhow). still playable though.
compared to my note 1 and nexus 7 though, the note 2 is a much better device. much more oomph, a lot less stutter, a lot less lag, much more responsive overall.

I have nfs just to test out this phone and honestly I was totally expecting it to run 100% smoothly considering the ranting and raving of this device, not to mention the heavy dollar amount for a 16 gig phone. I am thoroughly impressed with it. Seems to me that gameloft is the only company making games that can really test the phone so they can expect some profit now that they have something that works with their games. Only thing I don't like about the phone is not the largeness but rather the fact that everything downloaded goes straight to the internal memory, including picture downloads etc. So I have to go to the computer and manually transport it to the sd card but that's a small drawback for me.

if youre talking about picture downloads from the browser, go into the browser, settings, advanced, and change the default storage.
you can also set the camera to default storage to the memory card, but this only works for individual snaps. burst snaps will save to internal memory by default (to avoid slow memory cards slowing down the burst rate), and you'll have to move them later.
MC4 runs flawless on my device.

[Q] Vice City on Galaxy Nexus?

hey guys. got a little question. does anyone know if vice city is working properly on the galaxy nexus? atm it´s cheaper in germany, dunno about other countrys. 1,79€ is a fair price, but a few reported about lags, some others say in the playstore comments it´s working well.
what about u? anyone got it and can give me some feedback?
It's something in between. It will work fine most of the time, but it will lag, especially when a lot of stuff happens, which make it so much more annoying.(It can really ruin the fun of playing, if it ruins a mission) Personally I cleared GTA 3 on my GN and I bought Vice City but I havent gotten around to playing it through yet, and I might end op doing it on my next phone instead.(Don't wanna bother with moving the data)
Generally it's a little worse than GTA 3, which pushed it over the top for me.
Havn't experienced lags/slowdowns with the GPU oc'd to 512 it's running smooth for me with max graphics and dyn. shadow + full res. i have the draw distance at 50% it's all good ..=]
all i've experienced is a little stutter when getting in/out of a car

[Q] To tab pro 8.4 users.

I'm thinking about getting a tab pro 8.4 WiFi only (320) and have a few questions.
1-just how laggy is touchwiz. This is my first samsung and have no experience with touchwiz. Does the general ui lag when switching between homescreen pages or moving through apps.
2- does resolution greatly affect the graphic performance. My existing phone (xperia P) can't handle heavy game's or websites. I need to know if the gpu is any good or not. Does it run dead trigger 2 on ultra high smoothly or asphalt 8 maxed out smoothly?
I need something to last me a few years.
3- is web browsing smooth?
4- is 2 gb ram sufficient? Are there too many redraws?
5- how bad are the WiFi signal drops. I live in a small apartment so this does not matter much.
6- any other flaws I should be worried about? Over heating etc.
7- is the contrast ratio acceptable? Blacks dark enough?
I couldn't find conclusive answers to these on the web and hopefully this will help future buyers. (including me )

Have had the 8.4 pro for a couple months now and I can attest to the fact that it is a nice tablet. Screen is fantastic and performance is smooth. Gets great wifi signal in my house which has concrete walls that make it difficult to get signal for most devices. Only real problem I have with it is the android experience overall on the tablet. Many apps display stretched versions of phone apps (twitter, mlb at bat, etc) and web browsing could be better.

Download asphalt 8 and run it on the maximum graphical settings and tell me if it is smooth enough.

Its not the kind of thing where it locks up the device for a significant amount of time (seconds or even 1 second) but just a lack of general fluidity (split seconds of lag) within TouchWiz itself (not within 3rd party apps) when swiping through home screens, going back and forth to app drawer, etc. Really not the type of thing we should be seeing at this point with higher-end Android devices. So while disappointing, many folks are probably fine with it. Me on the other hand, got tired of it after a couple months, rooted and flashed a CM-based custom ROM, and much happier with the fluidity now.

If you are asking such questions about gaming and RAM, I have trouble believing you will be satisfied with any device for a "few" years. Maybe 2 years tops. But really the best you can do is by the best tablet you can afford (and the Pro 8.4 is a great contender) and hope for the best in terms of it being "future proof".
I'm not much of a gamer, so I can't help you much here, unfortunately.

I have had no issue with WiFi. The Pro 8.4 has as good or slightly better WiFi reception as other Android devices I've used. I use my Pro 8.4 on my back porch, with my WiFi router being in the front of the house and on the 2nd floor.

I had a minor issue with the battery meter sometimes not displaying properly after a charge. It would still read something like 50 or 60% when I had been charging it for long enough to be full. After a reboot, it would read 100%. Happened fairly occasionally, maybe once a week or a couple times a week. Others have noted similar issues.
This seems to be software based, as I haven't encountered this on my current CM ROM. And possibly this has been fixed in newer stock software.
Nothing else I've noticed since owning the tablet since April.

Subjective. I'm used to LCDs, so the blacks are dark enough to me, and the colors look realistically vivid. If you are coming from AMOLED, you might feel differently. An LCD will never going to meet the infinite contrast ratio of AMOLED.
@redpoint73
Thankyou.
I should have termed it better. I didn't mean lag but delay and lack of fluidness. You phrased it perfectly.
Like you said, other than the tegra k1 sheild I doubt that any device is "future proof". What I meant was that if it is capable of running modern games maxed out. Obviously better games with higher demands will come but for the moment this will probably be sufficient. What worries me is the resolution. It's far greater than 1080p and I was worried if the adreno could handle games as they grew more demanding.
The contrast on my xperia P is terrible ( whites are 900 nits. Figure the blacks.) and at the moment any display would look darker. As this is my first tablet I didn't have anything good to compare it to (other than an android 1.5 tablet ). So I hoped that someone with past experience could tell me better.

"Lag" is as good a term of it as any. I just wanted to clarify to anyone that has not witnessed it firsthand, it just a lack of fluidity, and not like you are staring at screens loading for seconds on end, or anything like that.
@redpoint73
I pretty much expected that. One more question. How long does is take for the screen to turn on after pressing the power button?
My father owns a galaxy s3 and turning on the screen takes about 2 seconds. On my xperia P it's instant. I'm guessing it's something to do with touchwiz.

Actually seemed pretty instantaneous on TouchWiz. I've been on CM for a few weeks now, so that's just by memory. Actually, its a bit slower on CM, but still not 2 seconds. Maybe 1 second.

1) The first TW was soo laggy but it did two updates and seems okay now but I still plan to root/get CM11

4) Screen is fine - probably comparing to Super AMOLED like on the Tab S it may not be as good but it's as good as any other tablet out there if not better with the high screen res

Touch Screen Issues on Pixels?

You see I play these tiny games, Swing Copters, 1 and 2. These are games where you continuously need to touch the screen to keep the gameplay alive. Now I know almost no one else play these games, and other than these two games I myself don't play any games either
Now the thing is, I have been playing these games for like three years now. Started from Moto X, then moved to Note 3, Note 4 and now Pixel. Now I never had any touch screen related issues previously on those phones, but now on the Pixel I do have touch screen issues, as if one or two touches are missed/ignored if you continuously touch the screen, making the game impossible to play. Now I am unsure whether this is because of these games' incompatibility with Nougat, or simply a hardware issue on the Pixel!
So I am asking here, for those of you who play a lot of games, and those games mainly where you need to continuously touch the screen to keep the game alive (Angry Bird or Subway surfer won't cut it!), do you guys notice any such problems?

I just downloaded swing copters to give it a shot. I didn't notice any immediately apparent issues with the touch screen. I do play clash of clans and feel like occasionally a touch isn't registered, but it's like 1 time out of 5000 which makes me think I simply missed what I was trying to push rather than it being an issue with the screen.
Ha ha you just confirmed my doubt mate. It was already mentioned in google's support page, someone else also was having same problem, don't remember which game anyway. Its also not 1/5000 for me, but something like 1/500 or something, which is completely unacceptable anyway. I have been playing this game for over two years, and spread over three different phones and none had this problem, obviously, cause none had any hardware issue like this.
Thanks for your input.
I've had issued. There's a touch calibration app that really helped. But i recently rma'd and hoping that isn't issue on new device.

Best of luck mate. I have had the same on three XLs now. Two of them manufactured in the month of October, one January. Have no interest to test again, I am certain this has affected all the XLs, but whatever.
Created a topic on Google's support page too, if more users are here then please keep this topic alive. I don't have the phone any more, won't, so don't care personally but other users might get help from this.
