Hi all,
I searched the forum as well as Google and I was unable to find an answer to my question.
Regardless of how I disable WiFi,via the notification panel or in settings, it will turn itself back on and attempt to connect to various WiFi networks. Yes, I know if I use WiFi I'll save some data but this is mostly happening while I'm at work and the network it attempts to connect to is in the next building.
The only "solution" I have found is airplane mode.. Not really a solution as I want to continue to receive texts. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply! Though in my first post I said that I tried the conventional methods of disabling wifi and it always turns itslef back on.

open settings then click on wifi "where it says tap to configure". uncheck "notify me". then click the menu button and choose "advanced". make sure "wifi notifications", and "auto network switch are disabled. then switch "kepp wifi on during sleep" to "never". that should do the trick.

Does anyone know how to disable 3g + call + untraceable so only Wifi works?
Turn on airplane mode? I believe wifi is the only thing that can be turned on in airplane mode.

Try turning off the mobile network. Settings>Wireless & Networks, uncheck Mobile Network. Than go to Mobile Network Settings and at the bottom uncheck Enable always-on mobile data. Only thing I can think of! Hope it works for you!

I was talking more of permanent solution, probably flashable mod.
No calls in or out, too.

Hmm. I haven't seen anything like that around. So basically you want to turn your phone into a mini tablet? http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

From terminal type:
su
radiooptions
This will display the list of options for the radio (if I remember correctly 1 disables)
Make your selection and exit terminal
The only thing is it doesn't stick on a reboot. You'll have to do this each time you boot. I do have a script that you can use that does it for you and you can set it to run on boot to turn the radio off on boot. I'll post a link soon if you want to look at it.
Edit: Here's a link to the original thread. Download link is still good. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16615634

Can you provide me a screenshot with the wi-fi settings? Or if I didn't understand well, you didn't find any settings?

You must push a menu button for advanced setting to appear (its the right button with 4 stripes icon above)

Go into settings then wifi then from menu go into advanced and there you have the setting "keep on during sleep"
Looks like it is disabled by default in dmb4...

This setting is always greyed out / disabled, but has to be turned on for "smart settings".
Is your data and/or GPS disabled?
GPS and WiFi are enabled. My location is detected by GPS apps.

So GPS and the mobile connection must be running all the time in order to make use of the "smart settings"?
Unnecessary power consumption, not very smart!
Nevertheless many thanks for your quick response!

Yep, it uses GPS and mobile connection to detect where you are.
bypassing the verizon tether subscription check by installing network signal refresher, refresh signal and immediately turn on hotspot while refreshing. Confirmed working.
I did not come up with this. I have been using this method for a while now and can't remember where I originally got the information to give credit.
Which app are you referring to since there's a few of them called "network signal refresher"? I just installed the first one that showed up on google play search and tried it on my LG G4 and still got the verizon message for subscription.

You have to hit refresh on the app then instantly turn on your native hotspot... It works
Network signal refresher lite by 8JAPPS
Can confirm it does work when using signal refresher. Verizon UDP
You sir are a hero. Thank you.
I ended up adding a tasker shortcut to my home screen for this. In tasker, I set it to launch Network Refresher Lite. Then (using AutoInput Plugin from Play Store), I have it click on the refresh button, then enable hotspot and go home. Works perfect and no need for root!

How are you enabling hotspot with this. I can get it to activate LNR and hit refresh but then my task list dies when going to settings in order to get to hotspot
Currently I'm using Wifi Tether Router to hide my tethering from T-Mobile but I wonder if this will work the same. Can anyone confirm if this works for T-Mobile as well?

Here's what my tasker event is doing:
1. Launch App -> Network Refresher Lite
2. AutoInput - > Clicks the Refresh button
3. Wireless Settings -> Opens up wireless settings
4. AutoInput -> Clicks on Tethering & Portable Hotspot
5. AutoInput -> Clicks to enable Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot
6. Go Home
Hope that helps!

Ok I'm making progress here. What do you put for Timeout (Seconds) as it seems the default is 20.

Are you getting a 100% success rate with this or do you get a random hang at times?
Also what did you use to make it go back "Home"?
I'm using AutoInput Global Action: Home, yet nothing happens.

For me sometimes it hangs too long on Network Signal Refresh after it hits the Refresh button and by the time it get's to turn on the hotspot it's too late... I wonder what I'm doing wrong there.

Looks the same as mine. Interesting. What does it do when it fails? Also, dis you enable accessibility for Tasker and AutoInput in Settings?

Accessibility is on for both of them.
It hangs too long before going to the next step sometimes, and therefore doesn't activate the hotspot soon enough after the NSR is refreshing...
