Can you provide me a screenshot with the wi-fi settings? Or if I didn't understand well, you didn't find any settings?

You must push a menu button for advanced setting to appear (its the right button with 4 stripes icon above)

check your modem settings, sometimes its not set to "Always on", so it will disconnect after sometime
check it at 192.168.1.1

Why is it not working? The menu isn't there? Are you on a stock rom?
if u r using an app, dont, could be the app itself having an issue, especially if your phone is not rooted, as most tether apps require root, try doing it through the settings directly and test it out, make sure u allow access to all devices (after you set a password for the AP that is), because if u select only allowed devices, you cannot connect even with a password
I just tried it with the stock app and it worked. It didnt at first, I entered the correct password I have chosen in win 7, told me limited access. The problem was coming from the type of security it wasnt the right one, in my case wpa2.

i have just rooted my phone ....
didn't custom the rom....
there a lot of choise in the setting , what i have to do to make it work fine..?
settings
->Wireless and network->More settings
->Network->Tethering and portable hotspot
->portable Wi-Fi hotspot ----> Activate swiping to the right --> Green showing
...it will show for 1s "Enable portable Wi-Fi hotspot..."
tap on Portable Wi-Fi hotspot
-->tap on configure on the bottom right corner
-->name your network SSID
-->choose the type of security you want (I recommend WPA2 PSK then choose a password, but you are free to keep it Open)
-->Save
... it will show enabling... for 1s
Finally you can search your hotspot from the device/computer you want to use it with. (be sure to right click on the network then properties to select the type of security the password is assimilated to)
Voila
i have the exact same problem...i can't make it working.. don't know why...in my case the other device can detect my phone and i already allowed the device mac address...the device is connected but to some point it cannot surfing the web.. my phone was also rooted and running stock rom

Go to Settings -> under wireless and network go to More Settings -> Tethering and Portable Hotspot -> click on Portable Wi-Fi hotspot -> Click on what is under the "Help" line, it should either say Allow all devices to connect or Only allowed Devices, if its set on the latter then switch it to Allow all devices to connect
This option doesn't mean that you access point is open to everyone, as it will only allow the devices that has the WPA2 PSK/password to use the AP, it just wont filter them based on mac address etc, give it a try, and see if that works for you.

does anyone know if doing this will have Sprint charge for tethering?
Yeah ^^^ same question. Will carriers charge us extra for tethering??
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Of course the US carriers will charge extra for this.
Thats what I figured, but there was no warnings whatsoever when turning on the hotspot about tethering fees..

[Q] Actually Disable WiFi on s4 mini

Hi all,
I searched the forum as well as Google and I was unable to find an answer to my question.
Regardless of how I disable WiFi,via the notification panel or in settings, it will turn itself back on and attempt to connect to various WiFi networks. Yes, I know if I use WiFi I'll save some data but this is mostly happening while I'm at work and the network it attempts to connect to is in the next building.
The only "solution" I have found is airplane mode.. Not really a solution as I want to continue to receive texts. Any suggestions?
Device info:
Samsung galaxy s4 mini (SCH-I435)
Android 4.2.2
Root status: Rooted

open settings then click on wifi "where it says tap to configure". uncheck "notify me". then click the menu button and choose "advanced". make sure "wifi notifications", and "auto network switch are disabled. then switch "kepp wifi on during sleep" to "never". that should do the trick.

Wifi Tether Router

Hello,
Here is the problem.* My phone is rooted with CF-Auto Root. I downloaded SuperSU successfully and then downloaded the .APK for Wifi Tether Router.
It successfully downloaded! * I open the application and go to configure WIFI ROUTER, I then receive a notification from the program saying, "WARNING You are currently using Android 4.3/4.4 If the network is not transmitted, disables (UNCHECK) the 'Scan always available' from the screen that appears.*
That message was verbatim from what my phone was saying.
Once I close the message the phone automatically opens my phones IP settings. Network notification tab is unable to be turned on and of, it is currently selected as "ON", and Passpoint is currently selected as "off".
I press the back option on my phone and it takes me back to the configuration screen for "Wifi Tether Router". I then begin to change my device settings starting with method. I choose* Method 3-(HostApd) and press back. I choose WLAN0 as my interface. I scroll down to Prevents Stand By and make sure IT IS checked. after that I Make sure that HostApd Patch is checked off as well.
I scroll down to APN settings and my screen is completely grayed out with all the different Access Point Names unavailable. the ADD option is also grayed out.
I then set my Hot spot settings.
ssid- wififorme
encryption - wpa2-psk
wifi password -* ihatecheeseburgers
wifi channel- 1
*
Im done at this point. I press back and I am at the home screen for the program. I select ENABLE WIFI ROUTER and phone request ask me to grant* access. I do. The phone disables router then resets the radio and the phone is enabling WiFi Router.... waiting... phone grants access and it displays my wifi settings.
The program is now running at this point but is not sending data or receiving it. I jump on my laptop and the wifi network is not showing up either.
What did I do wrong and how can I fix this issue?
