How to format sd card? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! I have a rooted kindle fire 1st gen with twrp and a custom rom. I am going to be giving my kindle to a friend as a gift (I am getting a new tablet) and I was wondering how I would go about formatting (or just deleting everything) off the sd card without messing up twrp and anything that was vital for the kindle to run. Can I just delete everything but the twrp folder (will important folders recreate if I reflash the rom?) Thanks for any help!

[Q] Q: how to install a new sd card

I'm running SlideMeRoot and have been happy with it. But, I want more card storage. So I know it's not as easy as just putting in the new card and rebooting -- yes, I tried that. Don't laugh ;-}
So do I need to do a NANDROID backup to the PC and then put the backup on the new card?
Do I need to restore the stock ROM, then re-root with the new card?
Any help would be appreciated. I can follow instructions -- I rooted my Slide using the original looping method <g>
I have the feeling it's something real obvious that I'm just not getting.
Thanks
Pull everythig off the old card. Format the new card (just in case) with your phone or your computer (I'd choose this one). You should format it to FAT32, don't worry about any of the other settings. Load your old card onto your new one and put it in your phone. That's all. Really you shouldn't need to do any of that aside from transfering the contents.
I'm not sure if anything else is involved if you have a2sd since you have to make an ext partition so if that's the case some one else can answer that.

Any help would be appriciated

TWRP has a mount feature that will mount the sd card on your computer. Your computer's OS will probably tell you that it needs to be formatted first.

[Q] Help - No OS installed, How do I install a new OS? Phone isn't rooted, Can't root

So in preparation for flashing CM, I was rooting my phone. I made a backup to my SD, and wiped my system, When I attempted to flash CM onto my phone, It didn't work. The backup didn't appear on the SD card (somehow broken now so borrowing another) CM was on my SD Card but didn't install. I couldn't put the file on internal storage because I'd messed up the partitions earlier, I digress.. So now I have TWRP 7.2 running, No OS on the phone, Can't install from SD card, Running windows 8.1.
No clue what to do, any help?
I am a novice also, Previously got by rooting and flashing by using dedicated guides. Now i'm lost even when searching for same problem

External SD issue

I have an LG Optimus Pro E980 with 4.4.2, rooted with towel root.
In an attempt to install TWRP recovery today I lost access to my external sd card. Not sure what I did but earlier today I could view, copy files or delete files to my sd card from my phone or from my computer when hooked with usb and media transfer.
I had a lot of trial and error trying to get a custom recovery installed on my phone and in the process I noticed my sd card quit working.
I have rebooted, removed it, reformatted (from my computer) and still nothing changes. ES File Manager sees it (I think) but when I try to create a folder on the external sd it just says it can't. It works when I put it in another android phone so I don't think the sd card is the problem. I also tried the app on google sdfix that makes kitkat have the settings to write to the sd card. Still didn't fix my problem. It will mount or erase from the settings menu. I don't see a format or unmount option at all.
I would like to flash a new copy of 4.4.2 to my phone but I can't find instructions of how to do this that I understand . I figure this will fix my problem and I was wanting to do a wipe and clean install anyway.
Can someone please advise me? TY
Certain twrp can't access the SD disk. I know this because I have installed twrp 2.8 and I notice immediately that it can't access the external SD disk, as normally be in the directory/storage/sddisk1. Don*t ask me which twrp to use because I don't know. I've heard that some twrp can access the external SD disk and some can't without some modification. Try this one

Its been modified, so it should work without any problem. BTW, as I have said on your other topic, why are you trying to reinstall the stock KitKat that you already have? If you have issues, a factory reset, as you've already figure out, should take care of thing, unless you've erase system files. Don't take the process of flashing tot files lightly, because if one of many things go wrong, you may wish you have never know how to flash the tot file.
