CM Google Voice + on other Roms - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hey guys I'm using Google voice a lot and im wondering if there is is way to get Voice+, which Is a CM app, to work on other ROMs that aren't Cm based. I know its some internal workings going on in the cm ROM itself so i was wondering of this is even possible?

Hmmm but touchwiz for example has it???
Touchwiz uses a custom dialer. Stock Android dialer never had T9.
Has anyone tried the T9 CM9 dialer in JB? I created a thread containing the apk months ago in this thread.

Then wait for the source to jelly bean to actually be posted so people can actually modify it and actually add back in the functionality that was never there in first place until someone modded the ICS source.
You guys have to understand that these roms are basically reposts of the pre compiled OTA update from google and some with basic hacks in it none of them are actually ASOP roms

4.4 dialer/ contacts ?

anyone working on this yet? just asking
No Google now
I had to look up on youtube to see how the dialer functioned. I have used the launcher which I do not care for, and really have not found a great desire for the google now features which seem to be deeply integrated in that dialer.. I think one more generation and I may be interested.
It looks like on the home page of xda that Kitkat is already being worked on by cyanogenmod for certain devices. You may want to check there.
Enjoy!

There are to my knowledge 3 ROMs for 4.4. CM omni and one other who's name is drawing a blank. I would advise will03s unofficial cm as that's what I'm using and seems to be the most stable

Android 4.4 AOSP Camera Error

Can someone please help me, I can't take any photos on my N7 2013 with PA 4.4 AOSP ROM, the stock camera app comes up black with the ui and sometime disappears from the app drawer and any other third party app gives me an error message. I'm curious to know if this is because of the fact that Google haven't released the 4.4 binaries or its just me? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

This is a binary issue. All of the 4.4 ROMs for the N7 have this problem.

Won't be fixed till Google releases binaries for our device. Known issue they even talk about in the 4.4 pa thread that you probably downloaded that rom from. Better reading next to time.
Good, then we shall fight in the shade!
Me too

[Q] Camera APK?

I installed cm11 on my z1c and I'm wondering if I can install the camera apk to make it work on cm?
You can't. It requires Sony Frameworks from stock firmware and AFAIK nobody is working on that. Try searching, but I doubt you'll find something.
Cheers

How's CM11 coming through? Do write your experience and also change the subject by putting 'experience' in the subject. It's high time CM did something for their camera app.

[Q] Worth switching to a Google Play Edition ROM?

Hi all,
I want to use the Google Play launcher, mostly for the "OK Google" always on feature. Is it possible to flash my device to a Google Play edition ROM? Is it worth flashing to one of these ROMS (stability?) or is there another ROM which would be better suited for me? Basically I want to get back to a standard Android ROM / UI.
Thanks!

The GPE ROMs are not functional on the V500. The closest you'll come is CM11.

Thanks for this, I've been reading around and it's a shame to see the V500 and V510 have different hardware
If I move to CM11, would I be able to get the always on "OK Google" feature to work? Not too bothered about battery life I just wanted to try out the features for a project I will be working on.
Thanks,

The Google Now launcher can be downloaded from the Play store and will work with CM11. Also, I think I say something recently about it being included in CyanogenMod's Trebuchet launcher. You can do a little research.

As does Nova.
I don't see much advantage in switching. Several good ROMs available for V500 and you get to keep your SD card support.
