Can anyone make one? I remember when I was rocking my DNA @crpalmer was building his awesome kernel that really improved the phone. I have yet to see that here. His kernel worked for pretty much any CM/AOSP based rom.

No, the Sprint One uses different mount points.
If you flash one of those, your phone will not boot.

Not sure if you're looking for a 4.3 or 4.4 kernel, but I use the Vanir Kernel on Illusion Rom which is 4.3 and it is amazing, battery life, performance, everything.
Where in sam hell is this International HTC One forum
Mind posting a link to this forum that has AOSP custom kernels...there are so many variations...it's a bit difficult to sort through it all...and YES I have used the search feature...
If anyone wants to test for me...I'm not much of an AOSP guy...and time is limited with the new baby...so constant flashing isn't viable at the moment. Here is 4.3.1 kernel with no changes (other than build modifications) to the cm10.2 source.

Awesome. I forked cyanogen's repo directly and it wouldn't build out of the box. So I changed the files necessary for it to build, and it won't boot...frustrating.
Thanks for the input. I will try to revert my changes and get it to build another way.

I know I need a Kernel that supports overclocking before I use something like CPUBoost... which one can anyone recommend that is stable and would allow this.
Sorry this is my first time posting in this forum... was using the Eris up until yesterday.

It's all preference, depends on if you are using an AOSP rom or Sense rom. Try them out for yourself and then decide, everyone gets different results.
I'm just throwing this out there we can only overclock our phones a wee bit and it for me at least destroys battery life.

honestly you could probably get away with just installing some of the AOSP kernels floating around the Dev threads...I LOVE invisibleks line of kernels, #28 is a champion for me...but I believe the new Tiamat line of kernels is concentrating on aggressive undervolting...I would give them a try
Might try that... it's weird, coming from an Eris, there's definitely a more professional way about this forum. BUT (big but).... the ROM's seems to be overall more incomplete and I am worried about losing somee functionality. So installing a Kernel would be my best bet I guess.... being I would retain all the functionality of the stock ROM.
Hope I make sense.
Oh the other thing is... when a kernel is AOSP compatible, that means stock ROM also right?

Later today I'll be trading my Galaxy Nexus for a One X. Of course the first thing I'll be doing is to dev unlock and get flashing.
I don't like Sense so ideally I'd like to use a CM10 based ROM or at least a de-sensed ROM. I would like something relatively stable. I've had a quick look at what's on offer here in the forums but unfortunately don't have time to read through all the replies to figure out just how stable the ROMs may be.
It would be extremely helpful if someone could recommend a ROM based on this information and maybe give me a brief outline of any bugs. Any information at all is helpful - it's a bit overwhelming coming to a new device as I'm sure many of you have experienced before.
Many thanks in advance.

I think best camera is in Tbaldens JB/CM10 ROM( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696 )...
But its still poor compared to the Sense camera...And if you used Onexed camera mod it is day and night difference, sadly but true.:/
I tryed al rooms and I can say renovate room 5.2.0 is the best, has the most feature included (camera mode, sound mode etc.) Also a excellent battery life combined with the faux kernal , after 2 hours and a half on standby ( checked 3-4 times the clock ) I still had 100% battery .and you can install without sense if you want .

Problems? Solutions!
Data connection problems:
Simple:
If you unlocked with Freegee, Hopefully you have an EFS backup that you can restore. Reboot when done.
Check bottom of post to get Freegee to work.
Technical:
Grab a stock ROM for your device
Make a recovery backup of your CM ROM.
Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache.
Flash the stock ROM
Update PRL, update profile, get a strong GPS lock (GPS status & toolbox app)
If data hasn't returned at this point then you have a corrupted EFS. Hopefully you've unlocked with freegee and have an EFS backup that you can restore.
Restore recovery backup of CM.
Crash loops after enabling ART: use Aroma Filemanager or TWRP filemanager or adb shell to delete '/data/property/persist.sys.dalvik.vm.lib'
then reboot
android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly: make backups of contacts, go to 'settings>apps>all>Contacts Storage' and clear data. reboot to recovery and wipe dalvik and cache.
Freegee saying device is detected as LG-gee and unsupported: edit /system/build.prop and change "ro.product.model=LG-gee" to your phone's model. Like the following example:
SPRINT EXAMPLE ONLY:
ro.product.model=LG-LS970

The goal is just to have vanilla CM11 with the gee base.

Questions are good.
Gee - is based on the nexus4's latest kit Kat 4.4.2 sources and is also much more closer to a nexus 4 than an optimus g.
I find this base to be better performing; a very noticeable difference with 3D games and emulators such as FPSe and Mugen64AE.
Official-CM/gproj/ls970 - is based on nexus4's older jellybean 4.2 sources and is more like an optimus g than a nexus 4.
This base has IMO a better display color profile and lower frame latency with 2D apps.
You cannot use an official-CM/gproj/ls970 kernel on a gee based rom.

Correct.
The only bug I've run into is ART causing crash loops.
Battery life might depend on the kernel. Right now I build with xboxfanj's matr1x.
I plan on switching over to ThatKawaiiGuy's Franco kernel once the cpu governor bug is fixed and tested.

Even though this is plain ol' vanilla CM11, the conversion to Gee sources has made this ROM GODLIKE. I don't know if its a combination of Gee sources + the aosp kernels we have, but this runs so much better than the gproj version. Kinda almost makes me wish official CM11 would be converted to Gee, but I know we have some folks whose phones hates Gee ROMs, haha.

After flashing this rom, I will say it is A LOT more responsive! Loving it. Only bug I see is in camera, the image in portrait is very skinny and in landscape the image is very stretched out. But I am on 4/03 and it could just be a cyanogenmod issue. Just thought I would address it. The laggyness cm11 gave me (not so much lag, it just felt like my phone wasn't responding as fast as it would on stock) made me keep going back to stock. Now that this version is out, it runs much better. Thank you mike.
Edit: Correction, the picture comes out correct when you snap it. It is just the camera app that looks wonky, but the picture comes out fine. A work around for the non stretched preview is change the MP to 12.8 instead of 13

This phone is actually very capable, I like it a lot.
Also I've noticed the 4.4 builds of Carbon do not support everything (like developer settings) like the 4.3 builds do. I stick away from KK until it has all the features JB does plus that.
I'm not sure about PACman yet. But it looks really nice I'm really excited to give it a try.
Hope this helps. Also shayneflashindaily said it best. It's really user preference. But if you want a ROM to try I recommend the two above me.

Just a little update if you'd still like to know:
I found PACman to be a little TOO feature filled. It feels like some of the things step on eachother's toes. Also I found some performance dips and bugs like if you press home your apps and widgets do not show up until you open and close your app page. Carbon runs decent with some hiccups. I used this here kernel to speed it up. Make sure you have your backups to restore if flashing the kernel doesn't work out for you.

I have actually found it to be faster with the kernel.
Only a few hiccups I'm looking to find ways to eliminate entirely. I'll give you an update if you decide to use it and would like to know more

Update: I soft bricked my phone. It's in bootloop. Using Carbon and that kernel when I restarted it to test Kernel Same Page Method or something like that as it loaded to the lock screen I put the charger in. It stopped and got stuck in bootloop. I am now stuck in recovery and about to fix it. Don't use KSM if you use my settings. Lol.
Ksm?

I am looking for the same answer. Which ROM to use for E980.
Fast, Decent Battery Life, nightly builds, and not too many serious bugs (As few as possible), least likely to brick, simple to install.
Thanks.

Salute Desire users!
I am really interested in your opinions.. which is your favorite custom rom for our good old Desire?
1. Please share your favorite custom rom in this thread -- no matter whether it is already available for our device or not.

As many of you know, I am much into building kk roms because I believe they offer a very good compromise between performance and the latest trend/features. Of course, a few common features are not working, such as:
- MMS
- Camcorder/video recording
- Screen recording
- OpenVPN (kernel issue: cannot acquire tun interface socket)
Unfortunately these issues cannot be easily fixed by me.
2. In order to let me put the right focus on future rom developments, please use this poll to vote for my custom roms.

Any questions?
Carbon rom on performance was quite smooth.

I would like to see SlimKat in desire. Other than that, I voted for paranoid.

Yeah, slimkat is also one of my top favorite ones. But it looks like a tough challenge. I tried to build it a few times, no clue yet how to make it to work.

My favorite is oxygen ROM android 2.3.7. I'm using my desire as my main phone through the day because I'm using my nexus 5 with a wind mobile unlimited data stick plan for internet at home.
Oxygen seems to be the only ROM that feels fast enough day after day and 100% stable. After using the nexus it was feeling really slow until I tried oxygen.
All the kk Roms look nice and work good for a short bit until they get unstable. I don't think it will ever be possible to fix these issues.

My favorite rom is MildWild Stable ROM. AOSP Gingerbread. Compile from CyanogenMod
My suggestion is SlimROM (not present on vote list) but voted on LiquidSmooth as it's the only one lightweight ROM from the list (as I understood it is based on SlimROM).
@ Dragonji ..Do you have a link for SlimRom..? Thanks..

Ok, I will give slim another try. Once I managed to compile SlimKat -- but telephony did not work, and then I got upset and demotivated.. :/
Unfortunately @vijendrahs has decided not to publish his sources. I am sure that I could have learnt a lot from his work for HTC Desire. :good:
Hey Desire'd folks,
Just to keep you in the loop.. I am still working on my SlimKAT experiment.. It has taken much longer than expected because I have decided to use PA's framework as a base as it appeared to me to offer the ideal base for our device in terms of purity and speed. Right now, I am adding on top Slim's features and also stuff from CM. I can't promise anything.. and I hope that my efforts bring us a working result.
In case I will get stuck with SlimKAT, I would switch over to work on a new PA release. Have you taken notice of Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 4 “Humble Huckleberry”? Is that really Desirable?
Cheers and have a nice day!
Hello could someone help me here I have a HTC Desire 510 and its stock in bootloop does anyone know I way out of it ?

Old thread that I completely forgot about him.
(2017-02-19) 665 downloads (75 per day) from the date of creation Slim-bravo-4.4.4.build.9.0-UNOFFICIAL-20161206-0005.zip, this sensational result for such an old device, which is the HTC Desire (code name: A8181).
