So I flashed this ROM going from stock rooted 4.2. phone boots and everything but i get a constant "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped." i click ok it pops up again immediately after navigating to the "about device" menu it show a value of "unknown" for baseband version. I have searched and searched and tried a multitude of things but i guess i am just to noobish to be searching for the correct problem. please help me with some info asap
Flash this in Odin to go to stock MK4 (4.3) http://www.mediafire.com/download/7viivd985s7cp8l/L900VPUBMK4_L900SPTBMK4_HOME.tar.zip
If it doesn't work you most likely have corrupt EFS partitions. If you don't have a backup, good luck getting a backup from someone else (as it contains the IMEI, MEID, ESN, etc).

is this the only choice i have? i made a backup before flashing in TWRP, and tried restoreing after the breakage and it just tells me i have no os installed which i assume is the rom not being installed and have not been able to find a stock rom...
also that odin file goes in pda correct?
For sake of simplicity, use a Odin file when you're soft bricked and can't get out of it. People have been having issues with TWRP. I'd stick with Philz CWM recovery if I were you.
Yes the file needs to be unzipped and put into the PDA tab.

So I just rooted and I am playing with ROMS. I have been using rom manager to make back up's. I went to restore a back up and they all say that my MD5 is missing and that it is not a valid backup.
I have searched the treads but only found things about mis matched MD5's.
Any advice?
I think this might help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714114&highlight=md5+mismatch
Try backing up and restoring through recovery...Rom manager doesn't exactly do the job. If it still does it, flash your recovery again...I have to flash any recovery twice on my phone or it doesn't completely install for some reason

Well, I tried Cyanogen, AOPK and now I tried PARANOID 2.0.
None of them works, GAPPS works, but I get the Status 7 error while installing a ROM, i'm using the SGH-T999V and none of them works.
How are you trying to install them?

You are rooted and trying to install with cwm or twrp recovery, right.
I ask because that error reminds me of stock recovery for some reason...

d2tmo wrong device?
Status 7 errors can occur in ClockworkMod for everyone saying he's using a stock recovery.
Make sure your rooted and you should be good
Hey SGH-T999V,
I think we'd all love to help, but we need some more information. Can you tell us step by step exactly what you are doing? Once we have that, I think we will be able to help you past this.
I am fully rooted with clockworld recovery 5.0.4 or something, installing zip from sdcard then Status error 7 and yeah...
From what I've gathered, status 7 errors usually occur when the ROM is incompatible with the device e.g when flashing a CDMA rom on a GSM phone. My first advice would therefore be to confirm that the zip file is for the correct GS3 variant. You mentioned aokp and CM. Both these ROMS refer to the T999 as "d2tmo" and the zip files usually contain this in the name (e.g cm-9-20120909-NIGHTLY-d2tmo.zip). I would therefore check this first before anything else.
Assuming that's not the issue, some suggestions would be:
1. This is a longshot, but try toggling signature verification and see what happens. I doubt this is the issue but I have had update zips fail because this was accidentally toggled
2. Try updating CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766552
3. Try changing the recovery to TWRP and see if its the recovery. The easiest way I've found is to use the GooManager app. Install from the play store. Run the app. Hit the menu key and select Install OpenRecoveryScript. Reboot into the TWRP recovery and try flashing from there.
4. Try rerooting the device from scratch
I got this error when I rooted using the Sprint method. I had to reflash cwm using Rom manager before I could install Cyanogen

I had the same problem. I updated cwm and it fixes it. Your version is old....

Just updated CWM to 6.0.1.2 and tried to flash with TWRP... same Status 7 error with every single ****ing ROMs i'm trying to install.
Wiped everything many times before installing zip, nothing works... i'm giving up and downloading stock ROM until Samsung releases official JB 4.1.
You might have to go back to stock and root it again

You just got to get one to work and you'll be golden

Hi, there,
just looking for solution for the same problem and got this thread...
well, I was rooted and on cyanogen and everything worked fine.
had backups and stuff.
decided to return to stock just to have it updated and backed up and after that to return to cyanogen.
when in CWM, after stock, while re-root-ing, I did a fix permission which erased some of my system files in the backups, so all my backups on the phone became useless (lesson #1: always move your backups away from the phone).
decided to start from scratch, so using ODIN I flashed the proper stock ROM for T999V. Installed the CWM version 5. something, superuser etc.
made a backup this time and store it outside the phone
when I tried to flash the cyanogen 10.0 for m2tmo (which I've flashed before without trouble), I got the error message as our friend here.
I edited the updater-script file in order to erase the first lines and got it flashed...
the problem that I have right now is that I am stuck in the first screen when the cyanogen keeps going round and round and round.... and nothing happens
any suggestion from here?
http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/ClockworkMod_Recovery#Status_7
The status 7 error can be from a bad download, bad signature, and I have seen it from using an old version of clockwork. I would first make sure you are running the most current version of recovery. if that doesn't solve your problem try redownloading the Rom.
So iv rooted, and using goo manager (can't use Odin because I don't have PC and this was easier) I flashed the latest version of twrp. I first did a nandroid backup and then tried to flash PAC ROM 4.4.2 nightly and cm11 neither worked (I have tried others since then) each time it says "no md5 file found". Its not the end of the world if I have to use the stock ROM for a while till I sort this out.. But when I flashed my nandroid backup I got stuck in a bootloop now I don't know what to do. I can get to twrp still and download mode if nessessary
Please help im a bit of a noob but I'm not stupid and have flashed ROMs on 3 devices successfully. Thanks in advance! I would be greatful for a fix to either of these problems.

If you're using a Linux machine there is a program called heimdall (if I recall correctly) that is supposed to be similar to Odin. I have no personal experience with it so I suggest Google and the search function here.
There is an option in twrp to check for md5 make sure you're not having it Check for it or it will fail, I ran into the same issue after I started playing on my s3 never had that issue on other devices but I do on this one. You can also try using cwm.
For the boot loop try a factory reset a lot of times it will fix it. Also keep in mind that 4.3 roms take a long time to boot the first time after flashing. Check in the development section enewman17 has a stock 4.3 restore it will put the phone back like it would have been immediately after the 4.3 OTA (except warranty bit in download mode will still show a count and be in red letters) even down to stock Samsung 3e recovery.

I was on stock ROM on the rogers-canadian variant which should be the same as the at&t variant I think anyway I cant find the checkbox for "check md5" in twrp do u know where to look? Also can I flash cwm.zip through twrp?(if twrp will allow me) or will this cause more problems. I think there must be a way to fix my problems but I'm pas the extent of my knpwledge . also I think there must be an issue with the stock backup that is causing the bootloop don't know how to fix it. Not working still after multiple factory resets and advanced wipes
Thanks guys I really need help with this
Since you have the i747m (Canadian version), I think it would be best to start from scratch.
Were you running a stock 4.3 ROM?
I would love to start from scratch but I can't flash ROMs and I get a bootloop when I try to use my backup. So I can't boot into system and its the same as the i747 just without the att bloatware and rogers instead
Just flash the stock rooted ROM from xda. Just search for s3 pre-rooted roms , download, and flash via Odin

Thanks sounds simple enough but I will have a hard time getting a windows PC to use. In the meantime is there anything else I can try? Is it possible to flash cwm through twrp or does that not work? If it does will it harm the Odin process to go back to stock? And will USB debugging work if no OS is installed on phone... How does that work?
Let us know what was the most recent stock ROM you had on your phone. Is it 4.1.1, 4.1.2, or 4.3?

You probably need to format your internal SD card from twrp (the option where you have to type the word "yes") I believe it's under advanced wipe settings. I would backup anything important from your internal card, then format it. Then try doing whatever you're trying to do (flash a certain rom or restore a certain backup). I had a similar issue last week. I couldn't flash roms or restore backups because the phone would reboot into a bootloop when twrp tried wiping the data partition.
If you can't get into a rom or connect to a computer to backup your internal cards contents, you may have to use the file manager inside twrp to backup to your external SD card.

Not sure sorry.. And I could be wrong but I think if you flash stock from Odin, it wipes your internal memory as well. If that's the case, I would backup whatever rom/backup you plan on using to your external memory and try my advice.
Other than that, not sure what to suggest. I can only advise based on what I have personally done in the past.

Thanks and good point
I use twrp on the n7 and its exellent. I tried it with the s3 and always had random problems after a flash or restore. I switched to Phil's cwm touch and have nor had a problem in months and I flash or restore almost daily.
I am on stock based custom rom on my i747m (canadian) TWRP 2.7.0.0 works perfectly, no issues.
Just in-case someone doesn't know they have newer version of twrp for both Us and Canadian versions.
When I try to install Hyperdrive rom latest release 15 I select all i want in the aroma but then it starts to install only the apps i chose. It is not installing any of the mandatory system files which makes sense why it installs in like 10 seconds.. I wipe everything sys, delvik cache, cache, data.. using TWRP 2.7.0.1
please help me
This is also happening when I try to install Wicked Rom so ANY suggestions would be awesome. I'm probably going to return to stock and then flash new rom
after reinstalling stock firmware through odin and then trying to install a custom rom same thing is still happening so im guessing i should try and go to stock and than completely wipe everything and then try from there?
I'd install a ROM that doesn't have an aroma installer. Then install the one you want with aroma.

I took your advice and tried install gpe rom and still after rebooting i just get a black boot screen samsung galaxy s4 screen
Is there more i could wipe like a partition that is still bad maybe?
I'm going to go to stock again but this time with odin 3.07 not what i was using which was a much older odin and im going to then install a custom recovery and root and please do tell me your favorite recovery im probably gonna try oudhs cwm and then ill see if i run into problems installing roms.
The main problem is the rom likes to install all its apk options for example adobe reader or samsung music app but it will NOT install any mandatory system files which make the phone work.
after i get stock i also wipe data factory reset in stock recovery which delete everything which is fine i knew it would.
This time i'll also be resetting the flash counter which i havent done

I haven't but i will try. At the moment i am at stock firmware and I would like to know what my filesystem should look like.. When I go into just "/" section before sdcard it shows me lots of folders some looking unnessary and maybe in the way of installing my rom normally View attachment 2650548

Could this be a bootloader issue or something with my filesystem because I can tell these roms are all avoiding like half of their installation. They should be extracting more files and take more than 20 seconds to install
Which bootloader do you have?

I haven't ever had a problem where rom doesn't fully install..
I was minding my own business on GPe rom from Kot94h and it was good but i decided hmm this has been my daily driver for queit some time ill switch to hyper drive and bamm i realize stuff isn't going right.

I can't think of where the source of the problem is.
I find it interesting how while an app installs i see it installing like system/app/blahblah.apk and that is like the first thing it starts to install
i think if i can remember a rom usually does system/framwork or something along those lines first
I have also MD5 checked all my files and they are all perfectly matching
Any Ideas?
I have this idea to try and erase every file on my device and then flash a room is that even possible
Could someone download root file explorer and go to their "/" and just snap a pic of the folders i want to compare your folders properties for example one of mine say rwxr-xr-x
Or i have another idea.
Is it possible to reformat my system partition with odin maybe with a PIT file??
Think, why would a rom skip installation of system files? It looks like it blazes through the installation after installing a few system apps

I have a s4 mini gt-i9195 running stock 4.4.2 xxucne6, rooted with philz touch 6 recovery and everything was running fine until I installed the viper4android driver and rebooted. After the reboot my phone crucial apps was constantly fc and couldn't navigate past lockscreen, luckily I thought because I had a backup which I made prior to the v4a install so I booted into recovery and restored my backup. Once complete and booted, I noticed I had no signal at all, the signal bars was in fact a circle with a diagnol line through it, so I checked settings, about device and my imei read 00000000000, imeisv 0, baseband unknown and *#06# came up with null/null.. but I've got working wifi. Now I'm really panicking because I've Googled it and answers where like efs backups but I don't have one am I left with a multimedia paperweight or can this be fixed. Someone please help me

Flashing stock xxucne6 rom is the only way. I faced similar problem with cwm recovery. No network, apps fc and similar symptoms as you described. That is because CWM did not backup efs and modem partitions. Then I flashed stock ROM followed by TWRP recovery and began all over again. Once I setup I made twrp backup that includes efs and modem partitions along with data, sys, cache, boot and recovery.
Try what I suggested. Good luck

Good to hear that. I recommend TWRP recovery and next time you make a nandroid backup include EFS and modem partitions in that as well.
That will ensure smooth restoring of backups. Good luck.
