i am enjoying it. This is my first expierence of android on something that is not a phone. I was caught between this tab and the iconia a100 and so far this thing is great comes stock 4.0.3 standard 1 gig of ddr3 ram 1 ghtz dual core pretty nice did not like the stock launcher apex looks nice on this tab once you increase the grid size to a 8x8. Runs smooth everything you would expect from a sammy device. I posted this to show my piece of early software i got ahold of. If your thinking of getting this gadget the abc warehouse is sellimg them early for some reason i think they oops'd though

The 22nd was a requested release date, never a hard and fast one. Best Buy has them and is displaying them as well. Word is that as soon as they come in they are being displayed by request of Best Buy corp. Good that you got one though. Very cool device from what I can see. The 7 inch was displayed but they didn't have the 10 inch one in yet and that is the one I want.

Galaxy Tab 2 P3113
Sagged mine on 4/9 and delivered on 4/12 from hhgregg for $240 including tax and shipping. Now see they won't have till the 22nd at he $249 plus tax regular price. Have the P6210 plus also, grabbed it onsale months ago for $299 total. P6210 is better but P3113 is very good. Know if we had root for root apps.
Bought mine on release day 4/22 at BestBuy.
Didn't actually know that was the release day. Was in need of a cheap tablet, was going to get Nook or Kindle Fire but for $50 more without the hassle of needing to mess with firmware for Google App support it was worth it.
Waiting for root. Any idea when XDA will make a forum for Galaxy Tab 2? (Prob same for 10.1 and 7.0 maybe?). Only reason I need root is to install the Cyanogenmod CM9 ported DeskClock and also have automatic time sync since I use this as a alarm clock and like precision.
One odd thing I noticed though. There's no "Stock" Clock app. (Called DeskClock on most devices). Alarm Clock+ and a few others mimic it and my Archos Home Connect 35 has it. What's funny is i tried to install the cyanogenmod CM9 custom build of it, and the package already exists on my Tab 2 7.0. But there's no application shortcut for it, and com.android.deskclock doesn't show up in the application listing.
Any idea's how I can access the clock or get the stock clock working? (I Know theres alternatives but it annoys me that there is so "Stock" Deskclock app.
So I ordered a nexus 4 awhile back and then got a sweet deal on a galaxy nexus. After my nexus 4 came in the mail i played with it awhile and realized the quad core was only really good for gaming, the 2 gigs of ram is good if you use alot of widgets i suppose but i don't. after taking everything into consideration i decided i liked my nexus better. nexus 4 was going for 5 to 600 on craigslist.sold nexus 4 for 550 and bought 1 year of straight talk minutes for nexus.. WIN!!

Point is you earned 250 from this poor sob.
Sweet profit you made there. The Galaxy Nexus is indeed enough for everybody except for people who suffer from the obsessive need to have the latest thing even if the latest thing is not really worth buying over what you already have.

Supply and demand . Play Store is out of stock in every country. Don't forget it's Christmas shopping season. If you're going to sell, this is the perfect time. (After the new year, it'll probably settle down again, everyone will be trying to offload the gifts they don't like XD)

Not true. I loved my Galaxy Nexus, but it just started chugging for me. For basic operations, it was fine, but it started to lag here and there. Also, the screen's protective layer started peeling off and it was annoying to scroll or just generally slide my finger on the screen. I thought those were good enough reasons to switch, so I sold my Galaxy Nexus for $250, and paid $170 extra for a lot more horsepower, but I will probably not enjoy the glass back and the non-removable battery.

Exynos is closed source, you won't ever see it in a Nexus.
I wanted to buy Nexus 4, but then I (after quite some time) flashed stock Android and realized how fast actually GNex is. N4 is great and all, but just not enough for me to spend any money. I'll wait for the next year...

Its more open than both the s4 pro and tegra 3. And it is in a nexus device. The nexus 10 which had no problems getting into aosp. The s4 based nexus 4 had trouble with licensing. The exynos is not closed it just took samsung forever to get documentation out for the exynos 4. The exynos 5 is used in a nexus device and will have extensive documentation. Much better than what people will have to deal with on s4 pro. Qualcomm is propably one of the most closed soc makers out there.

Glad you're happy with your choice, but a bit confused about the description.... I've yet to hear of a protective layer on the Galaxy Nexus screen that could peel off, unless you're talking about the plastic film on the screen that you are supposed to remove when unboxing the phone. The glass is a"fortified" glass, similar to gorilla glass, hardened based on composition, heat and pressure. There has been speculation about an oleophobic coating, but that would be a chemical bath if anything, not any kind of peelable layer.... I believe you may be the first to report a peeling galaxy nexus screen...
Regarding your observation that it started to lag... there is nothing in the hardware that would age or degrade and cause lagging. The battery is perhaps the only part that ages with use, and that can be replaced in a minute or two. If you were seeing lag, it was likely due to configuration or an app taking more than its share of resources. Apps link Currents like to do background syncing, and when they do, your only indication that it's happening is a lagging UI in whatever else you're doing. A bit of house cleaning, or even a ROM and/or kernel update could probably have made the device fly again...

IMO that's why the Nexus 4 is not in AOSP and why the Nexus4 may not see full AOSP support, but instead a more hobbled form. It probably wouldn't have an effect now, but down the road it will. The only other Snapdragon Nexus was the Nexus One.

Perhaps a controversial suggestion in these forums; but how about a Nokia Lumia 620? It does a much better job of being a phone than my Note 2. I use my Note 2 basically as my laptop...I wouldn't consider using it as my phone though given its size, price & complexity.
I also find that some of the core apps on the Lumia have no equal in the Android sphere (Nokia Drive works completely offline; Nokia Music is completely free - and you can store about 12 hours worth of offline music).
If only Android were a little more user friendly...

I vote for the Nexus 4. You're getting a great processor, and a guaranteed updates for a while. dollar for dollar / euro for euro, it can't be beat. If I were on a budget, I'd consider that... for 3 seconds... and buy it. But make sure you get a case! Some people who have dropped it have complained of shattering it. But I don't doubt that wouldn't happen with the Note 2 or any other device.
NEXUS 4 #FTW (that's cheaper than 400 bucks)
For cheap nothings better than nexus 4.
If you can afford or for everyone else buy xperia z or wait for s4

From a owner of a 7" and 10" tablet (Nook and Toshiba Thrive), the 7" meets my reading and gaming needs, but the 10" is better for watching movies and streaming video. I personally only use the 10" now. I read on my gs3 now. Best part is I bought my Thrive from an apple owner who didn't like android. It was released in the summer 2011 for $600 (32gb) and I bought it for $200 and it didn't even look used. It has full sized HDMI, usb, micro usb, and I'm running 4.1.1.
One Dev worked on it for 6 months getting everything working. I've rooted quite a few Nexus 7 for my friends and they are great tablets as I'm sure the 10" is, but for my uses I didn't need the latest tech. So in the end if you can afford it screen size can never be to big. (That coming from someone who just bought a 70" TV because 60" just wasn't big enough).

Bought a nexus 7 for my daughter in fourth grade. Works wonderful for all the games, movies, streaming..No lag at all. She doesn't have to close out apps or worry about anything, just works.
So for the processing power...the 7 works great. Only thing I can compare it too is kindle myself...which it blows away.
Not disappointed is my point I guess. No idea on the 10.
She plays Netflix, Comcast on demand, and Spotify. As well as any game she wants from store, and the hd hack version of YouTube for the 720p.

Personally, I would go with a Nexus 10 (thought about trading in my iPad 2 for a Nexus 10, but it was too much hassle for right now). But it might be better to wait a while...the Nexus 10 is in its first generation and there are rumors they might release a refresh. I'd also take a hard look at the next generation Windows tablets...the ones with the full x86 Windows 8. I'm planning to replace my laptop and iPad with a Windows tablet, surface 2 if it's good or something comparable. Makes lots of sense to me to replace two devices with one, and have my main computing power in my desktop!
Cool thanks , my kid wants a big screen hd and I want a power ful tablet lol ,still undecided but for sure we're getting a tablet tomorrow..

Hey bro glad to here about your latest android addition. However I need to let you kmow about a problem a lot of the Nexus 7's are having. I got one for X-Mas and started doing all the normal things you would do with a new device root, rom and some research. I found out that a lot of them are having problems with the screen lifting off the bezel. So about 2 days after I got it I noticed the screen was getting loose. So I held it up and looked at the edge and my screen was coming up. I could push the screen down and it would just push itself up. There are some guides on how to fix it at home but they never lasted for me, the problem just came back. I ended up taking mine back. I hope you dont have this problem. But I would look into it just to be safe.

Hey guys,
I've been thinking about the 8 inch version of this tablet for about a month. Bought one in Australia for my Mum and she loves the pants off it (her first tablet).
There's a special on at the moment in NL which brings it down to 200 euros which is a fairly decent price, but I also have the option of picking up a 2012 Nexus 7 new for 170. I've read some really terrible things about the 2013 nexus 7 and a fair few complaints about build quality on the 2012 version. I'm a student and if I buy something, it needs to genuinely last for a good two years (preferably more) to be worth the cost. Have you guys been happy with the quality of your devices?
I have noticed that there isn't much development for this device. Is this just because root has only recently been found? Or is there not much interest because of the Nexus family? I've always focused on development in buying devices and it's helped me squeeze four years out of my HTC Desire bravo and three years out of a friend's Galaxy S i9000.
So essentially what I'm asking is, does it seem like development might pick up in the future, and if not, is the quality of the device high enough that it would be worth trading off development potential? Sorry to ask such a general question, but I'm tearing my hair out trying to make a decision while the nexus 7 2012 is still in stock.
Thanks in advance!

I had the Nexus 7 2012 and currently have the GTab 3 8.0. I had no problems whatsoever with the Nexus. It was a good tablet. I just found the screen dark and cramped. I love the GTab 3 8.0. So it's not "retina". Big deal. The screen is crisp and bright and looks great to me. The tablet runs smooth and fast.
Honestly between those two models it's between screen size and whether having an SD slot is important to you. They are both great tablets.
Would you change your tab 3 8.0 for a LG pad?
