When 4.1.2 came out, I just waited for a zip of the rooted version was posted. I also prefer to not get the ota and wait just to see if it's worth updating. Reason being, when I was on the og epic, there were updates that I purposely did not take because the modem was worse or some other feature was screwed up. I know, I didn't answer your question.

The good news for you is that every time there is a new OTA, Freeza posts a stock, rooted ROM. This ROM is identical to the stock GS3 phone after the update, except that it is rooted (and has a couple of extra apps like Super User or SuperSU). Freeza normally gets the rooted ROM out within a couple of days of the OTA being released. Back when I was running TW ROMs, he normally had his rooted ROM out before my area got the OTA.
4.2 will most-likely not occur until well after the GS4 is released. Samsung will want to keep it's latest-and-greatest TW version on their latest-and-greatest phone. We can complain about it all we want (and I want to), but in all honesty, it's just good marketing. The good news is that once 4.2 TW is released for the GS4, the good developers of XDA will (most-likely) be able to create custom ROMs from it. We've seen the same thing with multi-window, once it was released for the international GS3, it was soon-after ported to Sprint GS3.
Hope this helps.

Hey guys.
I've rooted and installed ROMs before, and I usually would not have much trouble doing so, except for one question.
Which ROM do I use?
I like the functionality of the S-Pen, so the ROM I get hopefully has all the features currently available. At the same, time, if there is a ROM with Note 3 features, so that it works the same as a Note 3, which ROM would you recommend? Thanks for the help guys.
Just to let you know, my phone is about 3 months old, so the Warranty is still fresh. Should I void it if I were to go ahead?
P.S.: The last phone I rooted and flashed was a Sony Xperia Neo. Is there anything extremely different for Samsungs?
[4.3][MK4]DN3(Ditto Note 3) ROM from Electron Team(E-team)
can try this rom. many note 3 features

Thanks so much for that! I'll really be needing it! The unroot and maintain warranty one.
Hello guys i am newbie here from Turkey Istanbul
I used note 10.1 original one and then updated to 2014 edition because there was no update after 4.1.2
now its a de javu... my question is , is it clever to root and flash custom rom or stick with stock rom and wait for official updates?
I would like to flash custom rom but if there will be an official update that makes exynos works much more efficient and with new touchwiz i will devastate.
So guys i need opinions with clever reasons...
thanks a lot....
Why not do both? You can always go back to stock after rooting and it is likely the devs will get their hands on any release before it comes out officially.

Yess right but i use my note as a pc do all my works and my media on this tab so it is always hard and painfull for me to reset the tab.
I know no one has opinion about the date of official updates but it will come in a month i can sti k but if it will take decades i'll flash rom immedieatly
and also read that with custom roms we can use 4 multiapp function am i right.
and last question what is the best custom rom for our tab? Any opinions¿
I hear you... It can be... I've used titanium backup and it makes it less painful.
You are right, we never know when. Definitely can use any app you want for multi-window and yes there are 4 Windows available.

From my expirenece custom roms are totally unneccary on up to date devices.... if you want customisation get xposed installer .... stock rom gives you stability & all features .... debloat with titanium and youre totally fine .... get your neet extra features with xposed isntaller & gravity box / wanam exposed modules...
its funny when i ask ppl what their custom rom gives them .. they cant name a single feature I cant get on stock ....
if you have an old device with outdated firmware its another story

Hey! I'm new to the Note 3 community. I bought it recently after getting fed up with the battery life on my Nexus 5. I bought it from Swappa with stock rooted 4.4.2. I did lots of flashing and modding on my Nexus and I had an old Samsung (DROID Charge) as my first phone so I've used ODIN a little but I haven't done any rooting/ROMing on my Note yet.
I'm excited to put Lollipop on my phone but I love WiFi calling so I've been waiting for the Official update. What is the process like to get me from stock rooted KK to stock rooted Lollipop? Should I wait for a stock rooted ROM to be posted so I can flash it? Or should I unroot then update OTA then reroot? Is it better to do a factory reset? As much detail as possible for a Samsung noob would be very appreciated! Thanks.
Grab a soda, maybe a snack, and have a seat. It can be anywhere from a few hours to a few days...to even a few weeks for someone to gain full root to Lollipop.
Just keep checking back to see when someone has it rooted. In the mean time, enjoy rooted KK and try out some of the ROMs. I'm part of the Tweaked family but some of the other ROMs are very good as well.
Lastly, WELCOME TO THE NOTE 3 COMMUNITY!!
