Hi all I'm am new to this but i need much help here. After updating my Note 2 t889 to new firmware 4.3 OTA, my screen starts up and i can see the Galaxy Not 2 logo but then it glitches and goes to black. I can no longer see anything after but can still hear my phone boot up, light up eveything else. I have downloaded the official 4.3 from samobile and use odin to reinstall, everything went fine but still the screen does the samething. The only screen that im able to see fine is the download screen, recovery screen is black. Please Help!
i dont know if this information matter but i did replace the digitizer with a N7100. The screen worked for 2 months with 4.1.2 until this update. Is it possible that the update made the N7100 digitizer not compatible any more? any help would be really appreciatied.
My Note 2 t889 flickers when I attempt to update android as well. Its rooted and I think it has something to do with the cwm recovery used to root. But not 100%.
I have tried to update it numerous times, to no avail.
I think I need to un root, and start from scratch, then root again when updated to get rid of the flicker.
It flickers and rolls when trying to reboot after updating.
Have to enter recovery, wipe cache abd restart to get it to just boot.
Any ideas?
Be well.

Are either you using a non stock kernel?
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
well i might've screwed up now, try downgrading from 4.3 to 4.1.2 using this method i found;
So I did this a couple times now first by accident, then on purpose. If you want to go back to 4.1.2 from 4.3 all you have to do is use Odin. Flash stock 4.1.2 onto 4.3 you get an error "unsupported firmware" then put your phone back into download mode (volume down+home button+power) next flash CF-auto root. After that you can boot into recovery (volume up+home+power) in recovery format everything factory reset, format cache. Last reboot your phone it should reboot into 4.1.2 I think that is how I did it if I remember all the steps right. Feel free to ask questions I don't always explain myself very well.
i was thinking that this might work because my phone was fine on 4.1.2 so why not try. now on the download screen it says void:1, to make matters worst, it still doing the same thing. bad motherboard?

Hi, I got the same problem. My screen flickers at the galaxy note 2 logo after I flash the cf-autoroot after waiting the phone reboot itself and its okay, no flickering. So I tried to reflash the stock rom to see if it's fix, but it's not, I just wait again to boot my phone. Any idea how to fix it?

Hi All,
I just purchased a used Stock S III i747m off Ebay.
I played around with it fine for 20-30 minutes and it worked great.
I then went into settings to do a Factory reset, and the phone powered off and didn't start up again. It flashes the Samsung logo and in top left corner has "Reboot recovery" and then powers off again. I tried for 2 hours (Removing battery, etc) to get it to turn on without luck.
I then found a post that you can hold volume down + home + power to get into download mode. I tried this and it worked. It went into download mode, I then clicked volume down to restart the device, and sure enough, It now boots into Android and works fine. I restarted it a couple times to make sure it worked and it did.
Now I attempted to do a factory reset, and the EXACT same problem happens.
With doing some reading, it appears the Google Recovery is not working properly on this device, which suggests to me it was flashed back to stock by the seller but didn't flash quite right.
I want to use custom Roms on it anyways, but I'm a bit nervous of the device now.
Do you think If I flash TWRP or CWM on it using the Mskip Toolkit, and then flash a custom Rom, it will eliminate this problem? I'm thinking yes as the phone works fine when its on. It just seems to be the Stock Google Recovery is not working.
Thanks!!

Have you tried the Google recovery? Volume+ power and home button?
I would suggest using Odin and download mode to put a stock rom on to guarantee that it was flashed correctly, than you can go from there. Decide if you wavy to root and install any roms or keep it stock.

Yes. I should have stated that.
The Google Recovery does not work with Volume Up + Power + Home. It attempts to enter recovery and then phone shuts off.
It has the stock rom on it now, build # and kernel confirmed. Just the Recovery doesn't seem to work.
Odd thing is - I flashed the Stock recovery back on it using Odin a few mins ago. It completed fine and booted into the phone.
I then shut the phone down, and did the volume up + power + home to get into Google Recovery, and sure enough, Phone powers off... Back to the exact same issue. It won't turn on. Just shows "reboot recovery" for a split second in top left and powers off.
I then hold volume down + power + home to enter Download mode, and simply click Volume Down to restart the device, It restarts fine.

I suggest you go to the Root without tripping flahs counter thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
Flash the stock rooted tar and using the steps given. Then try to get into stock recovery and how it goes. If it doesn't work I suggest you try to install TWRP or CWM. See if that will clear up the problem. Seems like maybe it wasn't a thorough return to stock process by OG owner

Should I flash the Rogers or Telus files?

Odin flash wont really matter because phone will stay unlocked. Flash for whatever carrier you are using it on.

Really appreciate the help.
Looks simple enough and I've used Odin on a Note II before.
Only question - I see quite a few people stated they need to wipe data and cache after flashing this to avoid a boot loop. Are they doing this within Google Recovery? Wouldn't wiping data after a this flash erase it? (not cache, but data)
Thanks again, I will give this a go in a couple hours when I'm back home. Hope it resolves my issues.

You will just do a factory reset in stock recovery to get it back to out of the box stock to remove any possible conflicts. This is especially helpful if you are going from a 4.1 ROM back to a 4.0 stock ROM. Wiping data means removing everything in your /data folder. You can find the /data folder using a root file explorer like root explorer or es file explorer and see what you have stored in there or might want to backup on an ext SC card. I.E. pictures, videos. It will make the phone as if no one has ever used it before and a clean slate.

Awesome.
It makes sense. I guess I never truly knew what Factory reset means within Recovery. (I've flashed tons of Roms before on other phones but always did Factory Reset before flashing a rom, so I was thinking it an erasing tool)
Thanks. Will report back in a few hours once I get home and attempt this.
I have a feeling the recovery is messed up. The one selling phone took out non stock recovery, but didn't flash stock recovery.

I just wanted to report back that flashing using the non trip thread above fixed my issues. Everything is back to working including the stock recovery. Thank you so much!
I looked around but could not find my problem - I sincerely apologize if it has been asked elsewhere.
Yesterday I attempted to install the newest root66 (4.3) on my telus GS3 using odin. Everything seemed to go ok, but the phone was sitting at the samsung logo for a long while (and vibrating every 5 or 10 seconds as well). The phone went through the normal boot process after the flash, including updating the apps, but then rebooted and just sat there. Thinking something was wrong I attempted to flash the root again and had the same problem. After that I used odin to flash the stock image and waited all night and day for it and it was still on the samsung logo. Tonight I went into the stock recovery and cleared the cache and attempted to flash the root66 again. The phone seemed to go through the normal upgrade boot again (after odin said pass) with the android upgrade spinning chest thing and all that.
I can still access download mode and the stock recovery, so I don't think I am in too bad of shape - part of me thinks it is just a matter of patience, which is fine if it is, but if not, I'd like to keep working on it. Any ideas?
In summery - in case that was confusing
1) flashed root66 4.3, odin indicated success, boot after upgrade was similar to what I have seen before
2) Waited for a couple hours
3) tried root66 again, and waited
4) flashed stock, odin indicated success and waited many hours
5) cleared cache, flashed root66, currently waiting again
6) maintain access to stock recovery and download mode
I'd like to not lose everything on the phone if possible, but if I have to so be it.
Any thoughts?
odin to stock 4.3 then root your phone using CF Autoroot by Chainfire... check always the model of ur phone and the file you are downloading if it is for your phone..
Flashing stock with odin just leaves me stuck at the same Samsung screen. Pulsing Samsung and whatnot

ok, I'm not sure if i'm posting in the right place, but if not, I'll just have to get some crap about that. I have a note 2 and the 4.3 update was draining my battery faster than was acceptable, so i rooted and flashed cm11 to it. I didn't like cm11 after a few days, so i went to try to return to 4.2.
every time i'd try, there would be either an error extracting the files to my computer or it would fail in odin. i finally got tired of trying and decided to go back to the stock firmware and was going to update back to the current official firmware. i thought it had unrooted, and i got the stock firmware working, but when i went to update back to 4.3, it failed and is now stuck on the "samsung galaxy note II" screen when i turn it on. I can get it into download mode, and i try to reflash various roms hoping something will work at this point, but nothing does. odin says it's successful, but it stays on that same screen when i turn it on.
the only thing i can think of is that i forgot to do a data wipe or clear the cache at some point in trying to get back and forth between roms? the problem is that i can't get back into recovery mode, AT ALL. I've tried every combination of the volume up, down, home and power buttons. I've tried holding all the buttons and plugging in the usb cable, EVERYTHING.
i've searched everywhere on xda and tried all of it, multiple times. I saw a thread about a flashable rom that included a data wipe, but it was for a completely different phone, so i left the thread to search for a compatible option like that. i've rooted a few other phones in the past with success, and failure, but none that couldn't be overcome.
Can anyone help? Please!!

Ok, I don't think it will work as your bootloader are updated to 4.3 version and since you are trying to go back on 4.2 may be that ROM is trying to flash 4.2 bootloaders.

Yes, I think Stock 4.3 will work...Go in download mode and flash 4.3 stock rom from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589891
Also, you can find 4.3 bootloaders in above thread. (just make sure that you dont flash "AT&T i317 ODIN 4.3 UCUBMJ4 (Leak) Bootloader & TZ (AT&T Note 2 ONLY)" as these bootloaders are only for 4.3 Leaked version. But since you were on STOCK 4.3, therefore don't flash this bootloader.
I will suggest not to try ROM which ShrekOpher provided as that ROM is leaked 4.3 ROM and has different Bootloader.

Q:
You sure you have a custom recovery installed?
Are you sure it's rooted?
If so then you should be able to install a custom recovery, using goo manger!

Hi all,
Did the 4.4.2 update via Kies on an unrooted stock 4.3, now it's stuck on "Recovery Booting..." in blue up top. Doing a battery pull, as well as trying to boot to recovery (volume up, home, power) produces the same result.
Any idea how to get out of this, what I presume is a soft brick?
EDIT: Cancel that, downloaded the 4.4 image and installed via Odin. Phone loads up fine now. Gonna do a factory wipe.
Anybody have the flashable or Odin file for restoring stock 4.4 recovery, unless restoring pda in Odin already did that? No need for TWRP, gonna stick with stock.
I have the stock 4.3?

Hi all,
Did the 4.4.2 update via Kies on an unrooted stock 4.3, now it's stuck on "Recovery Booting..." in blue up top. Doing a battery pull, as well as trying to boot to recovery (volume up, home, power) produces the same result.
Any idea how to get out of this, what I presume is a soft brick?

AT & T Galaxy Note 2 SGH-13I7
So I'm at a loss on what to do with my phone at this point..
Everything was running great until yesterday, I attempted to root it, the root attempt was unsuccesful but the phone still worked just fine and It even got shut off and turned on a few times after the failed attempt. But one time it froze up after installing an app and after that the phone got stuck on the boot screen.
So this morning I flashed the stock 4.1.2 Rom and it worked again, then I updated the phone on the device itself. OTA is what you would call it I believe. And now I'm back to where I started. The phone gets stuck on the galaxy note 2 loading screen and it wont start.
I cannot enter recovery mode in order to wipe the settings and clear the cache.
I can enter download mode however, and my attempts at flashing the stock firmware PASS on Odin but the phone only gets stuck on the loading screen again afterwards
Does anyone know what I should do?
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch
Is there any way I might be able to enter a recovery mode using an micro SD card?
To which rom you updated? Know that from newest version there is no going back.

Edit : there's a way(maybe) to get to download mode. But not sure if it will work on your phone. There is a thing called jig kick USB. You can build one yourself.

Thats probably my problem then. I was running 4.3 and the stock firmware I installed was 4.1.
Is jig kick USB used to get into download mode, if thats the case then I am already able to do that. Just not get into recovery mode.
Yes I noticed later that you can access download mode. So try to flash the rom you updated to but for your carier as your phone is from at&t you should use their rom. I don't have carrier phone so I speak theoretically. But I guess you understand what I mean.

mine is the same n7105, so how did this go, did it worked?
mine n7105 says passed and once rebooted don't pass n7105 logo, i can only enter download mode,
I'm having the exact same issue, 7100 Sprint. Odin flashes pass but still stuck on SGNII screen, can't flash recovery or ROM. Had 4.1.2 and accepted OTA mistakenly.
I literally just had this problem with my SGH-I317 and fixed it with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589891 go down to where it says "If you are running the official *MK6* firmware"
ive had something similar. had odin pass. no cwm / twrp access only stock recovery and stock downloader mode.
you need to flash a stock rom to get it back, then boot into it. connect pc. (a different usb port sometimes) get ODIN to reboot it into downloader mode. I had major problems getting to that point. but got it from flashing a stock rom. I have also had this old CM10 rom that fix's all partitions etc. i cant remember the name of it now.
a couple of times ive had issues getting into custom recovery. when you hold power +vol up + home key. when u do keep holding power. it loops boot and loops back again. when u release. make sure you hold power for like 1-2 seconds on logo. dont release power button before logo appears. wait a second after it appears. get it every time now.
Try to flash latest TWRP trough ODIN and check if you can boot in to recovery after that.
