New libraries and kernel for TESTING camera including Blackstone. They need testers!
[UPDATED 01/21][DEV - Camera (Diamond, Blackstone, Raphael, Rhodium) ] Camera
ATT! Kernel and libraries updated 02/21. Check first post.
Now cam works as well as you could expect under WM! Autofocus and every app I tried.
You can try it or wait untill changes get commited, and if things go this way that will be soon (in my opinion).
---------------------------------------------------------
Logs will be more helpful if you add this info:
Platform:
XDAndroid/other release: (FRX03-04, etc):
Kernel:
Modules:
And helpful details like modifications to startup.txt or if it's not a clean install, for example. Thanks!
---------------------------------------------------------
Notes (instructions in first post of linked thread, here for fast reference):
-If using FRX03, use the new libGLES_qcom and gralloc - better 3D performance.
-If using FRX04, those libs are included in the new kernel, so don't add/remove that lines from froyo.user.conf
---------------------------------------------------------
How to make logs - easy way
Please post logs in the main thread, it'll be easier for devs to use them.
How to make logs - command line way
1.- If you're in Android, reboot to WM (clean start)
2.- Launch Haret, let Android set down
3.- Enter Settings - Dev tools - Terminal Emulator
4.- write: "su", hit enter, "dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.txt", hit enter
5.- write: "logcat > /sdcard/logcat.txt", hit enter
6.- Start Camera, mess with it, including taking photo if it works
7.- Exit to Home (via red buton), shut off device and get both txt's from root of sdcard.
8.- Attach them to the dev thread!
(Sorry for the multiple edits, I'm learning meanwhile)

Please, read the main thread pointed in the first post. As you can see in your logcat, the detecte library version is the BASIC_LIB (which means dream library). For camera to work on the blackstone, you need to have the NEW_LIB detected, which is the legend one.
Use the Lib_package on my thread and use the froyo.user.conf file that is in this package. It will automatically bind the camera library to the one needed for blackstone.
I have upgraded Android to FRX04 and with kernel and latest files for camera posted on dedicated thread I was able to have camera working. I will post details to camera main thread.
Thanks,
xdmcmdc
I've managed to get the camera working on FRX04 aswell . Used newest modules, zImage, rootfs and camera lib from the thread in first post.
In 5MP mode I seem to be able to take one picture (which doesn't get saved), and after that I'm not able to take another one. The app doesn't freeze; the camera buttons do still rotate when the phone is turned, but the image does freeze.
In 3MP mode taking pictures WORKS FINE .
Switching to video crashes the camera, but that was to be expected
If more logs are needed I'll be happy to provide them

camera works but lost wifi
Hi. I'm very new to Android but love playing with gadgets (I'm 49 so bare with me) I managed to do the camera updates to FRX04 (which works) but for some reason when I add the zimage from the kernel_modules_01232011_topaz_fix package I lose wifi, it just says "error" when I try and turn it on, can anyone help ? I've obviously done something wrong - Paula

That's because viruscrazy couldn't build modules to work with that kernel. Stick to previous viruscrazy's kernel (the 01/23 update) or main branch one.
is the latest version dated 07-Feb having the same issue with the Wifi?
Also noted that there are updated Krenel and Roofs 10-Feb, is the camera working with them?

Camera only works with viruscrazy's kernels. The last one (AF) doesn't work for blackstone, though.
Wifi works as far as you have the modules that work with the matching kernel
Tried the Viruscrazy's Kernels and works like a charm. Camera 3M pixels + Wifi Ok + audio working perfect. Video not working.
The thread seems to be a bit complicated to read, but it's easy, just follows the following steps:
1. download lib packages dated 23/Jan from point 1 of the viruscrazy's thread, previous backup, unzip the contents on your android SD folder.
2. if you are using FRX4 modify the config as indicated by viruscrazy. I used notepad2.
3. Download Kernel + module package dated 28/Jan from point 2 of the thread and, unzip on your android folder.
4. download the new haret.exe from the thread, modify the start.txt
5. enjoy your camera.

At Neopeek's they've got the camera working with the Camera360 app... I have the app, but not the right kernels... Maybe you should give it a try...
Thought tha you could change the saving location with Camera360.

As you say, it's not an userland (app) problem, it's the kernel support that it's still in debug process. Viruscrazy is getting a great progress atm.
I'd like to save photos and video from the CM10 cam app to an external sd card, I have kids and take lots of video. I found the two links below that edit the fstab. I'm not familiar enough with the fstab file to know the differences, so I'm curious what the differences are and if one of the solutions will work with the i747.

Also can you view photos in 4.2 directly from the camera app?
Tried flashing the zip from the first link and it checks for the phone model
So I have been having a problem with the front facing camera on apps that utilize it but not stock or Google's camera app. This makes using the front facing camera on things such as instagram, and snapchat suck because everything is squeezed together making things like faces look extra long and skinny. I am not sure its the ROM doing this because I have tried others. Currently running Slimkat 4.4.4 build 7. Any tips would be appreciated
I'm going to bump this because I noticed something, maybe it will give a little more insight to the problem. When I use the stock or Google camera, and take a picture there is no distortion, because when I take the picture it turns out to be a square image, Snapchat and other apps stretch it because they are taking a standard image. Why is it that stock takes square images all of a sudden?
Is there a setting to change the picture from 4:3 to 16:9 or something like that?
I do not see one
I would like to bump this post, as well. I am having the same issue. Front-facing photos in non-stock camera apps take distorted photos, or rather, the aspect ratio is incorrect, resulting in distortion. Kind of makes SnapChat useless. I wish I could be more specific about when this started. I am on CarbonRom (11.06 nightly build with latest build of Ktoonz's kernel by Perseus). Though this was persistent on my last rom, AOKP, ever since maybe, two or 3 snapchat updates ago.
EDIT :
Solved the issue thanks to a post I've seen on another forum! Sorry I can't find it anymore.
This will solve the ffc stretching issue for ALL 3rd party apps including Vines, Snapchat, Messenger, etc. (Tested on CM11 M12) Just follow the steps :
1. Unzip your AOSP-based rom
2. Go to /system/lib/hw/
3. Delete "camera.msm8960.so"
4. Change the name of "camera.vendor.msm8960.so" to "camera.msm8960.so"
5. Zip everything back
6. Flash your ROM. (I did a factory reset because I came from a touchwiz rom)
The problem should be solved!

I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. When I try to flash the newly-modified zip (that is, the one with the modifications you specify), TWRP gives me a failed flash error.
Aussi, merci beaucoup, Montreal, je l'apprecie beaucoup !

Great question. I don't normally do any tinkering with my phones outside of flashing prepared software (ROMs, and such). I'll check it out.
pretzels, let me know if you successfully installed the ROM after the modifications.

Pretzels, just curious, did you ever successfully do this? I'm having the same issue. FQuen's is the only fix I've seen anywhere after days of searching.

I recently switched to a new phone, so I did not get a chance to do any more troubleshooting.
Hello Everyone
I've searched the web and tons of forums for these Roms, but as everyone knows, only the last few Roms are kept.
I had backups from March 8th and 17th, 2016 but after flashing CM13 from March 20-something my backups when restored would cause bootloops or freezing on CM symbol. This didn't ever happen when flashing the December 2015 or January 2016 Roms, but only after the newer ones. The newer ones would cause issues with flashing back to certain versions of 12.1 as well(like bootloops). I don't get it. Anyway, I want to just go back to those specific dates because I had zero errors then. Does anybody have any copies from those dates? Anyway I could manage to use my backups still? I ended up formatting my device from frustration and so I would be missing minor files from the backups I had made but the backups were around 1.5gb each and saved on mSD. Ive always been using CWM 6.0.4.7 and the backups folder consists of about 10 or so files (boot.IMG, system.ext4.tar,data.ext4.tar,nandroid.md5,cache.ext4.tar,recovery.img,recovery.log....)
Also, just wondering about this, but is there a way to add the 'auto connect data to recieve/send MMS messages' feature in CM13 by editing the features.XML,others.XML,features_default.XML file(s) in the CSC folder? It was very useful in 12.1, as was the ability to change color scheme in messenger, editing main settings via menu button, and CM12.1 could've used 13's ability to change user profile pic as sometimes 12.1 had issues associating accounts after initial setup(GoogleOneTime)
Anyway, sorry for the long post and jumping of topics, but it's getting late and I'm using my phone to post from Unified Remote...Thanks!!
I have one from 02-16 that I use as my daily driver if you are interested in it.
Thank You!
Yes sir, I would greatly appreciate it. I remember the best ones were March 8-17th, IMO. Have you tried 3/17? Why did you choose 2/16 just out of curiousity? I believe 3/8 to 3/17/2016 are the best. I can't remember which one was the best (either 3/8 or 3/16, 3/17)
Anyway, I am interested. I'm not sure if I can post an email address and I'm driving so I can't read through the rules of posting ( at stop light right now) Remember kids, Dont text and drive!
I have 03/10, 3/12, 3/14. I thought 3/14 was the last for CM 12.1. I guess I overlooked that.
Thanks!!
:highfive:
Thank you Chuckles! I am interested in those as well. I'm going to look through my data and see how many (if any) there are to share if anyone wants any.
You have a link or how is this going down?
Thank you again guys!
For me, on my phone, 02-16 with the DKP kernel from 12-27 gave me the most stable platform with the best battery life.
I'll load it on dropbox in the morning and send you the link.

I believe 3/16 was the last. My 3/17 backup was of 3/16 ROM and some apps. Anyone know if 3/8 suffered from power drain issues or was it resolved by then? Perhaps, I will start with 3/10 again.
Quite some time back quickreader was added to Snap. It was easy accessable in the old Snap ui. Then the ui changed and qr has gone. Since it's still in the sources, and is still build, I wonder how to use it in oneplus3 los-16.0?
I've asked that in the officila onneplus3 thread, but nobody knows.
Do I need to put something in the overlay in the device repo? Do I need to put something in *mk? Or do I just oversee a icon in the Snap ui?

That is the old Snap UI. I'll attach a screenshot of the new ui. I'd happily use the old ui, if one can tell me how to build it - which changes in the device repo are neccessary to get back the old one?

Did you have any luck with finding out how to make use of qr codes in snap?
I've got los17.1 unofficial installed on my moto G, and already lost over 2 hours trying to find out if the snap camera app in latest LOS version is capable of recognizing QR codes at all.
I luckily found this thread but with - as I could guess - no solution

I don't have any options on the bottom right corner to choose from as seen on your attached sshot. It looks exactly the same as shown on nvertigo67's screenshot on a newer version of this app.

unof. LOS 17.1 rom by Jarl.penguin from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s/development/rom-lineageos-17-1-t4160495
shall I understand that an older version of snap apk can be found somewhere?
