Hi, I just switched from Sprint GS3 to T-Mobile GS4.
I was rooted on the GS3 using MOAR. My new GS4 has not yet received the 4.3 update. Should I go ahead and root now or wait until it receives the update.?
Also what are the most popular ROM's available?
Thanks, Randy
Do not accept the update. 4.3 has an evil Knox ridden bootloader.

Root with chain fire autoroot.
Then update to the mk2 modem this way, but not the boot loader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544612

That's the one I was thinking about.
I haven't accepted the 4.3 update because of the Knox. I went through this with the Sprint GS3.
I'm assuming I Odin the Twrp recovery and do the standard re-boot in download mode to flash the new ROM?
I'm in Hawaii so I'm still awake
Thanks everyone

Can I just ODIN the TWRP recovery? I'm more familiar with that method.
I lived in Hawaii before. Aloha. This is the way I would do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294005

Thanks for the help. All done with the root, used goo manager to flash TWRP, doing a backup and will then flash a ROM
Piece of cake
Has anyone found a way to root 4.3.3 for the AT&T Galaxy S3? I see there is a way for the Verizon model but can't find anything for AT&T...
It's 4.3, not 4.3.3. Look in the General Section.

CF-Auto-Root worked for me.
Do you have any warranty on your phone? If you do, rooting may trip the knox counter and void the warranty.

We get it. You are very helpful
Cf-autoroot will root your phone but Knox will disable the installing of supersu. So just download it from market and open it. This will prompt you to disable Knox and then you will be rooted

sim lock 4.3
You only have two options... Option 1, You wait until kikkat 4.4 become available for upgrade then unlock the phone with same code. Or option 2, you find the stock rom that came with the the phone which is the ice cream 4.04. Then use odin to downgrade and then you can use the same code.
From all my reading. I was under impression you cant down grade with odin?

Its possible it could've been broken by mistake, some people have had the same issues with Samsung devices on 4.3, try the new 4.3 update and see if it helps

And regarding my previous question, do you think I should click OK on mobile odin? Or you just don't know?

Unless the new update to 4.10 fixes the issues it was having

OK thanks I'll read both and get acquainted with them since i will be using them a lot. Also i was reading g the 1st post on the mobile odin post and the Tmo s4 is listed as a supported devices, so you said it is not or did you have a bad experience?
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Its supported but there were some things that couldn't be flashed with mobile ODIN so you had to use PC. Nothing that would brick your phone or anything.

You wont brick your phone by pressing OK lol. After you start using ODIN is on you. Just read the guides and make sure you do things the right way so you dont brick your phone. If you want to try out an awesome ROM, try Insane KitKat. It's a great ROM

Great thanks, I will read the guides but that would be tomorrow cause I'm falling asleep. And in regards to the ROM I will give it a try once I have everything figured out, now for the exposed thingy when I do a search for it to download it... should I search for "exposed" itself? Is that the app or is that the extra setting/add-ons?

Are you referring to "Xposed"? And as for a custom recovery, TWRP would be my choice.
