[Q] most stable/speed ROM for this phone?? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yo guys what's the latest most stable and fastest ROM for this phone??
What I meant by latest most stable is For example If there are ROM which are 4.4 but is beta and 4.3 which is stable then 4.3 is the latest stable
I normally don't ask this kind of question but my friend passed to me his arc and I don't have time to test all Roms out there.
Yes I tear every single ROM for my xperia ray and note 1 Lol

There are not best/fastest ROMs out there. Every ROM is unique and can't be compared to another one.
Nevertheless, all ICS ROMS are stable (more or less) because they are stock-based. If you wan't a JB/KK ROM, there will be bugs like camera glitches. All of them are CM-based. CM10/CM10.1/CM10.2 are pretty stable. CM11 is in alpha stage.
Choose the one that best corresponds to you.
Cheers.

That. Speed and stability depend on how you use your phone. The only way to find out, which one fits you, is to try them out yourself. If we recommend one, then we get blamed for recommending one that does not fit you.

More Cyanogenmod9 Questions...

Ok question, I just realized there are 3 types of cyanogemod9: Stable, RC, & Nightly.
Can someone explain what each one is and whats the difference between them?
And perhaps tell me which one is best over all?

Hi,
RC stands for Release Candidate. You can compare theese ROMs as beta versions. There is no guarantee that they are bug free or everything is working. You can use this roms if you want som early previews.
Stable are the stable releases. Theese roms are out of the beta phase and they are suggested to be stable. By this i mean they should be mostly bug free and should be smooth running. Use thees roms if you want your phone to run safe and reliable.
Nightly roms are the roms that are coded nightly, they contain newest tweaks or updates but they are not fully tested. Nighltys are the RCs of newer stable versions so to say. You can use them if you want the newest stuff but there might be performance or bug issues.
I hope this helps.

Good information here, I'm running CM9 RC2, would you say CM9 Stable would perform better?

I would say stable would perform better, since it was released after the RC2. At least it should be the same performance...

[Q]

I've been searching in the development section for a while, looking for any ICS or other ROM which is stable for daily use. All I find are attempts by people who say either they are not devs or it is their first attempt to make a ROM and sicne I don't have time now for trying and testing, could anyone point me to a stable, fully working ROM for daily use? is there any ICS working ROM or they are all buggy for now. The one I currently have is from an older 2.3.5 but I haven't found any newer either. IF ICS is not ready yet, then which 2.3.5 is using the latest base and is stable?

This is the most stable of all ICS roms.......But do keep in mind that some things might never work due to the lack of OMX binaries for ARMv6 devices
The things include video recording, full video playback,a perfectly working camera

I've read this which is marked as "not suitable for daily use" and daily use includes camera and video recording so if that's the best for now, ICS must not be an option for me.
This means that my question changes which 2.3.5 ROM is using the latest base and is quite reliable? I have to say that I haven't found any ROM to convince me that is realible or those that I found are using older base. Maybe there are some that are far away from the latest list and I haven't seen them.
Anyway, if someone uses a ROM with latest official build and it is fast, reliable and tuned well for battery and space usage, please recommend it to me.

Already tried the first one some time ago. It's a bit old and if I remember correctly it uses an older base, plus it has many necessary components removed (like, widgets)
The second one, I've seen it already and it seems that it has most parts chosen for bangladesh. Maybe I'm wrong but I usually avoid installing a ROM from someone who says he is not a developer and he attempts to make a ROM for the first time. Nothing againsta that dev but I'd rather save some time. That's why I posted here.
I think that everyone must have moved to CM and development on WFS must have seized so I guess I'm staying with that old ROM.

[Q] please suggest STABLE ROM

Please suggest any stable and fully functional ROM, that offers good battery life and is customisable.
I dont mind non-HTCsense roms.
Viper X ... I am with it from day 1 i rooted the phone and never used any other rom.
Its very stable and highly customizable

well, It's really hard to tell which is best, which is not.
Before you flash a new rom, you'd better watch some intro. video or trouble-shooting threads for known issues.
BTW, if you wanna stable rom, just pick those roms which used by most people: cm,arhd, etc

He is not asking for the best he wants a stable one, they are pretty much all stable but they all have different features. The viper has the most tweaks , that's a proven fact
And you are right there is no best rom, check some different roms out there and see which one suits you best
ARHD is very stable as it's stock for what comes on the HOX, Paranoid Android is also very stable as it's practically Vanilla android.

Suggestions

I have an arc s with cm10 and its a bit laggy i want to have android 4.4.
Which onw of those roms you suggest me.
I need stable one which dont get laggy after using it alot.
If android 4.4 have little problems it can be 4.3 too.
And its not a
"which is the best rom "
Thread.
Thx
Try to find your self which is good for you . But since you asked, try VanirAOSP 4.4.2 .
I believe this fits you best - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097137

Plzz i do not ask for fastest/best rom, but for stable one with less bugs. The arc s is for my bro , so i cant choose one of these billions of roms, because i cant try every rom. Its not my phone.
I know the rules of xda!!
There is no stable KitKat ROM, they all have certain flaws still.
And all ROMs become slow over time. If you wish to join the custom ROM world, you have to learn to maintain ROM's speed and efficiency.

[Q] Most stable KitKat ROM for Desire Z?

Im wondering right now what is the most stable KitKat ROM for the Desire Z? I know it cant be stable AND no lag so lets just go with stable....Right now, I have a 4.2.2 ROM that is OK but sometimes it reboots ALL day and suddenly stops and is stable (and no lag).
Which 4.2.2 rom do you have?
For now, nothing on KK is better than the AlterNdromadus 4.2.2

Its guhl's permissions ROM.
I am not looking for a 4.2.2 ROM. I asked for a 4.4.x ROM.
Thank you for your reply but that is not what I am asking
so try purekat, it's not stable but for me the most stable

To be clear, I wanted to tell you that KK Roms are far away from being as stable as this 4.2.2 rom.
So, I went back on 4.2.2.
The only thing that are better on KK : the clock, dialer and contact apps (aesthetically)
I'm waiting for PureKat beta3 (after Marco's exams !).

To be clear, I wanted to ask what KK ROM is the most stable.
So, I never mentioned anything about 4.2.2.
Besides, AlterNdromadus 4.2.2 being a CM ROM, is problably slow as hell compared to AOSP....

It is not IMO.
I just gave you my feed-back. You're free to test it by yourself. I will be happy if you find a KK Roms which deserve to stay on it on our device...

No, your preconceptions are incorrect. Firstly, CM is based on AOSP and does not diverge away enough (ala MIUI) to ruin performance. Secondly, CM is actually better performing because with CM we have more up to date libs etc. especially for qcom stuff like libhardware. Due to there never being AOSP support for this device and HTC stopping official support at 2.3, then clearly CM stuff is gonna work better for our device. Why do you think the Andromadus team stopped AOSP 4.2.2 after beta8?
Now the one case where AOSP is faster (for me) is Fyodor's 4.2.2 ROM, because he put in the effort to get all the libhardware stuff and qcom display stuff working nicely.
If you don't believe me then sync the latest Andromadus AOSP 4.2.2 source (as of around the end of 2012 I think), build it, and tell me you prefer it to their most recent CM build.

This is true, and the only advice I can give also. Besides, there are only 2 KitKat ROMs to choose from: Andromadus test builds or Marco's PureKat (CyanKat, AOSB are out of date so won't be stable).
I might like to add that this thread is against the rules anyway so you should be grateful it hasn't been reported yet and accept the advice you've recieved (which has been good).
Essentially, for stability go with 4.2.2, for most stable KitKat it will take you a total of 2 whole flashes to find out which one you prefer.

Every 4.2.2 ROM Ive tried that is based on CM vs AOSP is slower. On AOSP you lose some nice features, but Its always seemed slower and more of a memory hogger.
Seems to me that way anyways.

Newer isnt always better.
Also:
I was thinking of updating this, but I've lost my G2. I can't blind dev and I ran into enough difficulties as it was when I could test it. Java is just too confusing for me right now, so much more confusing than C which I'm only just starting to get comfy with. Unfortunately the lag is just a problem you'll have to get used to, backup and clean flash and wait a while. I couldn't do anything tobhelp you anyway, I just don't know how. I can give you the age ole tips: no task killers, no placebo scripts, minimal apps, minimal gapps, no hangouts, no Facebook, no heavy browsers (opera mini is great) but yeah I'm really sorry but there won't be any updates. As it is I think the ROM works well anyway. I'm no dev so if you want someone to support then turn to Flinny, Marco, NeverGone, etc. It sucks that my goal to have a stable sorta up to date ROam was dashed but that's life. Thanks to the people who liked the ROM anyway

1: Java is more confusing than C? Wow....
2: Saying "lag is just a problem youll have to get used to" is a no no. Like I mentioned, the ROM Im currently on is almost lagless but just has the problem of suddenly becoming stupid and rebooting all the time. Other than that, it is great.
3: Saying that the ROM works well anyways when you are mentioning that it lags and also recommending several comprimises like no heavy browsers and no minimal apps is just a no-no. Im sure this ROM had its time and its moment but its been out matched.
I guess Ill stay on this ROM for now and hope that KK development gets better. That or Phonebloks...
Im using a lower end phone these days because of a nonrelated issue and it already has 4.4.2! Im just surprised.
It also works pretty damn good considering the speed and RAM it has.
For me AOSB 1.2.9 is faster but Flinny's alpha3 is most stable because using AOSB it some times gets reboot especially when open es file explorer .quick pic etc.But AOSB consumes a lot of customizations its really good.
