Hey,
I have a problem with the album covers on my Note II, which currently runs under Android 4.3 (Not rooted, DBT).
All titles of my music collection are shown, but only the album covers of three of my albums. But there's no difference between the structure or anything. All .jpg - files.
And all same structured: Mp3 >> Album >> Music files + album cover.jpg
In the gallery all covers are shown without errors so my device recognizes the jpg. files but it is not using them.
When I was using Android 4.1.2 it still worked.
So far i tried the stock samsung player and musixmatch. They both show 3 album covers. So 98% of my albums don't have a cover in the mp3 player now..
What i tried so far:
Cache wipe
Hard reset
Moving files
Searching on google for similar issues (without success)
So now I'm out of ideas.
I'd appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks in advance.
Avendor
Any ideas at all?

Hi,
i was hoping one of the devs or someone equelly as talented might look at this and see a easy fix , ive tryed searching and posting in the relevant rom threads but nothing.
Ok at first i thought it was a issue within the roms however after checking my m8s stock desire hd today i noticed his did the same .... which leads me to belive htc have changed something and made it slightly gay.
The issue with the stock music player htc provide, if i go into the player then goto my albums the desire will list your albums with covers (it fits 9 albums + covers to screen) however if i scroll down the list the covers do not appear to be cached.
IE if i scroll 2 / 9 albums the covers will not load untill the album is displayed on screen if i scroll to the bottom of the album list the albums with covers will all load after approx 3 / 4 seconds. Ok problem sorted you would think as you got all your album covers loaded now, however if i close the music player and go in again its the same thing.
The music player did not perform like this on normal desire or custom roms , if i goto my albums on desire roms / and or stock they are pre cached no loading i can scoll down list there all there (covers). If i quit program go back into the music player all the album covers are there , if i was to do this on a desire HD stock or custom it will load the covers each time you enter the music program , i presume this should be a easy problem to fix but then what i do know , hence why im asking if anyone can look at this please

+1 for such a fix
Hi together!
I am looking for the folder, where gacenote copies its data to.
Can anybody help me out there?
EDIT: FOUND IT! It's in android/data/com.htc.album
me too! and im also looking for the folder where the sense music player keeps its data like the playlist.
Sorry to bring this old thread up again, but I was searching for the files gracenote is downloading automatically, and didn't find any answer. Problem is, that once (wrong) album art is downloaded, it can't be removed by re-syncing music to phone again.
I solved this by deleting wrong album art from
Code:
/sdcard/Android/data/com.htc.musicenhancer/files
This made my mp3-included covers visible again (works at least for HTC music player on HTC One M7 / Sense 5)
OK so I'm getting kinda cheesed off with Google play music and the album art displayed. So I got 3 id3 apps, audiotagger 4.0.0, itag 1.50, and pimp my music 1.49. I'm trying to get a decent high resolution album art to stick on my MP3 albums. Iv used all 3 to try to remove any album art that's seems to be stuck to the MP3 files and then used all 3 to set the album art I want either from searching on the internet or select a picture saved to my gallery. I even went as far as deleting some 1156 pictures of the same low res album art which keeps reappearing. So for a while Google play music will show the high res album art and its great but after a while it goes back to low resolution album art which is all pixilated and stuff.
So anyone know how this could be sorted out?

I was able to do it by modifying the cover art from my PC. Opened Play in my web browser and went to My Music. Then picked the album and modified the album info. It let me change to a better pic. So far, the higher-res pics seem to have stuck. Hope they don't spontaneously revert.

OK great album seems to be sticking now, that particular album I got up on Google play music server and on my device.
I just can't get id3 genre tag to change for the on device music. I did already try with Google play music and its showing correct for what's 'in the cloud' but on device copy won't change, its being a little bastard. I tried the same 3 apps as mentioned before. Any ideas? Maybe they don't work so well with jelly bean?

I deleted the copy from my device and just downloaded it from Google play server and all is well. I get ocd about my music lol

hi,
strange problem in my new g3.
i use ID3 tags to embed my album art in all of my mp3 files.
they arranged in one folder.
when i use power-amp it shows correctly every song with it's own album art BUT strangely the G3 stock music player is not showing the album art at all or (in some folders) show a particular album art of one file located in that folder (its not even the first one ??)
i also checked the files with the stock file manager app that also shows the mismatched album art just like in the stock music player.
any idea ?
Up
Do the songs have album title information? If not, android will replace the missing album title with the directory name these songs are located in.
Further more, some players use album arts from android database (use this to change album arts, songs need album title) or from the file itself (no album title needed)

Sadly its general problem of Android and most of the devices have same disturbing issue. It was on my Gi5510 and still on my G3. Poweramp shows correct if any artwork attached. For now there is no solution seems like but will research this. This issue is really disappointing, 'cause i like to use stock music player rather than 3rd party apps but its not good when other songs artworks attached to every track. If anyone will found a solution please reply this. I will subscribe this thread. +1 for OP.

I used mp3 tag to embed album art for my music and had no problem with it showing up in my music. The only issue was it wouldn't show up if the image was larger than 4mb, but I doubt that's the case for you guys lol. Have you guys used mp3 tag? If not then use it, if you have then could you elaborate a bit more, because I think it may be fixable.
I have a few albums where the album art refuses to change no matter which program I use.
Based on some searching I found that if you delete all files in "com.android.providers.media\albumthumbs" that the phone should stop forcing its art on specific albums. However after doing so you also have to change the folder to read-only.
I did this on an old s5 neo and it worked.
However on my current s9 I don't have the option to delete files in this folder. So, I found the folder by connecting my phone to my pc and deleted all the files... but I can't change the permission of the folder either on my phone or pc to read-only, so the album art is still not changing.
Tried a bunch of different apps, and in the apps the art is ok, but in the actual music player it's not.
Is there any work around for this? Or any other way to force the album art to change? Any way to change the folder to read-only?
Thanks!
It seems strange that art wouldn't change. Are you sure there isn't art embedded into the files? Download a music tagger, I recommend Mp3tag if you're on Windows, and open the files in there to see if there's any art embedded. Also make sure there isn't a hidden folder.jpg anywhere. If you can't figure it out maybe upload one of the files and I'll have a look to see if I can find the problem.
Hey sure thanks so much if you could help that'd be great.
Here is one of the files. I just opened it in mp3tag, deleted the album art, added a high quality pic. Yet when I uploaded to my phone it still shows some low quality crap as album art.

I've taken a look and the file appears to be OK. Did you happen to check if the previously embedded pic was low quality? Because if it was you might just need to clear albumthumbs again, then recopy over the album with the high quality art embedded in each file (you might also just be able to put it as folder.jpg in the same folder with no embeds on any files, not certain if that works) and let the cache regenerate.
If that doesn't work then I have a couple more questions - how low quality are you talking (a screenshot would be helpful), and what music player are you using? Because testing the file in Samsung Music looks fine to me. You could also have a look at another music player with an option to ignore mediastore's cached covers (which are usually compressed more) and reads the art directly from the file. There are a bunch available that can do this like Retro, Shuttle, Phonograph, Poweramp, and probably tons more.
I've attached screenshots of what it looks like for me on Retro (with mediastore disabled) and Samsung Music.
Hey no I didn't check the previously embeded pic. I did however clear albumthumbs and then recopied the song, but still didn't work. Don't know what the f is up with this phone lol.
I'm not sure what you mean with the folder.jpg. I'm supposed to name the album art file folder.jpg?
Ya mine doesn't look like that unfortunately. Here's a pic of how mine looks on Samsung music player. Also here's the pic I'm trying to use.

Welp, my last idea apart from trying a different music player is to clear the data of Samsung Music. If that doesn't work, I probably can't help sorry.
By the folder.jpg thing I mean instead of embedding the file in every MP3 on an album, which takes up more space (say your album cover is 700 kilobytes across 10 songs, that's 7 megabytes), you can just put it in the same folder as the files (like the attached image). It could also take priority depending on the app, not sure how Samsung Music handles it.
That's alright thanks so much so far.
How do I clear the data from samsung music?
In terms of putting the album art in the same folder as the files... do I do that on my phone or my computer?

Open Settings, then go to Apps, find and tap on Samsung Music, then tap Storage, and Clear data. And you can do it on either.

Oh man thanks so much... it finally worked. There are still a couple albums which it didn't work for but it worked for most. Maybe clearing albumthumbs again will work.
Also there's another problem, lol. The mini album art at the bottom of the screen shows up as the old one instead of the new one. I'm gonna try clearing albumthumbs and samsung music again and hopefully that fixes it.
Hey so I (or better you) figured it out finally. If you change the album art right before you clear samsung music then after clearing it will show up with the correct album art in all places. Some of the older ones I changed didn't show up, but if I changed them right before clearing they all showed up perfectly.
