I hate to start a new thread when I know someone is going to direct or blast me for writing this one but I'm just so exhausted trying and researching with so many similarities but seeing their problems perhaps not 100% nor their solution working for me.
I'm on a gs3 att i747. I upgraded to 4.3 via Samsung and was annoyed I lost my hotspot and probably region free unlock.
I attempted to use teamEpic as my initial rom. copied over, ran Odin and installed CWM-Recovery-LTE-Sg3-v5.tar.md5 (youtube videos from various places cited it worked for ATT model). It installed smoothly, I got CWR up, it 'seemed' to unzip and run the flash without problems, and when I rebooted, it would always go back to my original Samsung 4.3 update. I never saw the new superuser icon nor could I verify root access.
I then copied over liquid kit kat (huimeng.zip) & gapps but decided to move all these rom type of files into a new folder called root/custom_ROMS/. Once I tried flashing liquid kit kat, I ran into errors whereby it could not successfully install. I tried flashing teamEpic, still seems to install smoothly but when I reboot, it tries to boot up and then blinks back to CWR. At the moment I cannot get out of CWR.
With further research I decided to try the massive file root66_ATT_I747UCDLK3.tar.md5, and also got a more updated Odin v3.07. After getting my phone back to the download mode (vol Down + home + power.... then vol Up), I tried installing root66 but I keep getting error: "Complete(Write) operation failed"
I also tried to reinstall CWM-Recovery-LTE-SGS3-v5.tar.md5 but bet the following error when trying to install again: "aboot.mbn".
Attempted root66 installation from 3 different cables, 2 different USB ports, still same error.
I'm so exhausted and frustrated the last 12 hours trying to figure this out on my own and could really appreciate some suggestions or threads to read up and try. I feel so useless without my phone as I travel a lot for work. I just need some form of region free and hotspottable droid phone. Getting me atleast in operation would be so awesome. Any help?? :crying:

Hey all. Fist off, sorry about the new account and posting here in the Q&A and not development, but let me explain. I have been a member of XDA for a few years- my main account(and only account until being forced to create this one) is andr0id23. However, I am unable to login to that account. I keep getting an incorrect password error message and am constantly locked out of my account. I have emailed the people who can help with this issue, but still not having any luck. They did reset my password(even though I knew my password), but that still doesn't work. I try it once but it says i have used up all my attempts and locks me out for what is supposed to be 15 minutes, but seems to be forever instead. But I digress, just wanted to explain why I am posting from a brand new account and in this section(new accounts are not allowed to post in development). Now on to my issues I am hoping someone can help with. I typed it up in notepad last night while waiting for my account to be accessible and am just going to copy and paste it:
Hi all, I was hoping to get some help on my Galaxy Note 8.0. It is model number GT-N5110. It was given to me by a friend, who likes
to try rooting his devices, but has no experience and is actually quite computer illiterate. When I received it it wouldn't boot up,
but only go do a screen that says something like "Downloading. Please do not power off". I have no idea what is on there as far as firmware
or custom ROMs.
I am pretty comfortable with Android development as far as flashing custom ROMs, rooting, unlocking bootloaders, etc, but haven't been active for
some time now. I have owned a Droid, Droid 2, HTC Incredible, Droid X, HTC Thunderbolt, and Motorola Xoom and have rooted,
unlocked, and/or installed custom ROMs on all of them, ass well as doing so on several devices that aren't mine. I have used "one click" type methods
as well as more hands-on adb methods. I just mention so to show that while I am far from an expert, I do have some experience.
But I am stuck on this tablet. I can boot into Download Mode and was able to flash CWM Recovery via Odin. In CWM I tried
wiping data, cache and Dalvik cache, but when I go to reboot I get a message saying the device is not rooted and would I like to root. It doesn't seem to do any
good. I did try rooting thru odin, and it said it was successful. I have also flashed the stock firmware thru odin, but am still not able to boot. The
closest I get is a boot loop. Also, Kies does not recognize my device.
So, I can boot into download mode and CWM Recovery(though I don't know if I am actually rooted
and it will be of any use), and Odin does recognize the device. I have tried flashing stock firmware to no avail. If anyone
has any suggestions, I would be greatly appreciative and definitely willing to try. I can give you any additional info you
request. I was thinking of flashing a custom ROM, but not sure as I don't know what the tablet is currently running. If anyone
has anything to try as far as flashing a ROM or firmware, a d/l link would be greatly appreciated if at all possible.
I have been having the worst luck with samfirmware or sammobile(two sites that are named something like that). I have spent
literally hours waiting for the downloads, and the 2 times i did get lucky, the files were messed up. Again, I would be
extremely greatful for any and all help.

I would download stock ROM and flash with Odin 3.07. There are a number of threads that explain the process. Here is one... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2728370&page=3
GT-N5110 & GT-N5120 - 64GB 633x on board, Status Official on SafeRooted OEM ROMs with Wanam Xposed and RootCloak. The only way to fly 8+ hours!

I was never able to grab any downloads from SamMobile or SamsungUpdates. It just loads forever until it times out. I did, however, grab a stock firmware download from another thread. I flashed it with Odin 3.07 but it did nothing for me. I am attempting to download the files from the 2 sites again now. Hopefully I'll have better luck. Thanks
Idiot
Ok so I am a complete tool. I was able to get it going. I knew what to do, and was doing it, but was doing it wrong. The thread you linked made it dawn on me. I was able to flash the stock firmware through odin 3.7. Sorry if I wasted your time and I thank you wholeheartedly. Now time to root and have some fun :good:
Hey all,
I have read all over the place on how to get this working but I honestly get more confused the more I read. I wanted to switch to another OS since my phone was starting to become bogged down (too many pictures, videos, old files, etc etc etc; My phone is my work tool since I'm a field sales engineer)
So I went ahead and rooted it with ODIN 3 v1.85 and I317-UCUBMK6.tar.md5. I also installed TWRP although I have no clue which version it is. I suppose it's the latest one. My bootloader is LJ2.
I always do the full swipe and a NANDROID back up. However, when I flash a custom ROM, I always end up stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note II screen. It won't go.
I have tried to install the following ROM's:
DN3 - Always says "Failed" when I try to flash, even when following instructions of reboot recovery and flash again.
JEDI X 20 - Go through the entire aroma installer - it installs - asks for reboot - when rebooting, stuck as Samsung Galaxy Note 2 screen
and it pretty much happens with all of them. I have decided to back to stock (because I was a retard and accidentally deleted my NANDROID backup) and now I find my WIFI is broken.
I pretty sure this has all been discussed in various threads but I rather bring it all into one so that all that are having the same issue as me (I read a lot of people complaining about this issue with very scattered replies) can have a single thread that addresses how to fix this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks man. That post brought a lot to light. So I have the MK6 firmware but the LJ2 bootloader. I'll try doing what Zen Arcade says there but unfortunately I cant download his files. The website he's hosting the files from has severe lag and the files stop downloading.
I'll get back to you on how this goes once I'm able to download them.

Finally downloaded it. Installed it and got that particular operating system working. I will try to get some customs roms installed. Thanks for the help man!
So I have a T Mobile S3 and yesterday I tried to get it running a little quicker. It didn't quite go as planned =/
I used cf autoroot to root the phone, worked fine. had CWM all set. I installed dandroid first, but WiFi didn't want to play nice so I figured I'd just go with my second choice and went with PAC 4.4.4.RC-1. I think I was happier without WiFi - all of a sudden I couldn't install ANYTHING because I kept getting the (apparently insanely common) E: signature verification error. I can't get any google apps to install, can't even flash back to stock. I even had issues getting Odin to recognize the phone at all for a bit, but I've gotten that sorted at least.
Anyway, the phone 'works' more or less, I just appear to only have access to the factory recovery - no matter what I do, I can't seem to get around the signature verification error. I've tried what feels like twelve different ways to install CWM, but no luck. What am I missing? Why can't I even get back to stock?
I've read hundreds of pages in dozens of threads but nothing I've tried has worked. I usually do so well with technology - I'm kind of the dork chick in my circle of friends - and this is really getting frustrating. PLEASE, ask me anything you think might help point me in the right direction.
What firmware were you originally on? Is cwm the latest version? Is there an error message you get when trying to go back to stock with Odin? When is it you get the signature verification error, play store or side loading apps? Just trying to get more info
So I wanted to root this tablet, and I used a video online to help me do so.
I installed the USB drivers, got Odin 3, and loaded in CF_AutoRoot_Port_T700_BeansTown106.tar
It rooted my tablet and I was pretty happy about that. I then had update supersu, by getting the SU binaries.
So I came to this site and downloaded the recommended Supersu, and flashed it. It fixed that.
Well, then I wanted to get a custom ROM, so I flashed the Cyanogenmod 12, along with the component with it.
I found I didn't like it compared to my 5.0.2 Lolipop, and so I tried finding the stock ROM.
The gator download site everyone was showing refused to let me download anything, and just about all the ROMS seemed like they were from countries other than the U.S.
I searched for awhile, found nothing, then found a ROM called the Ironman Lolipop ROM, it was close enough to stock, so I flashed it.
Suddenly everything was normal, but then supersu needed binaries again, and after I flashed it again, it just stopped asking if it should grant permission, making the root useless.
Frustrated, I looked online again for ROMS, found a Canada one, decided to download, it would take two hours.
Well I'm not from Canada so I doubted it would work, and didn't want to wait two hours.
I decided to Flash back the Cyanogen.
Well unfortunately I went in and found out that I had deleted it earlier, whoops. And so my data wipe brought me back to Ironman ROM.
So, thinking that flashing to Iron Man screwed up my root I tried to re-root with Odin, the same way as the first.
It then had trouble booting, and when it did, it hung at the Samsung logo.
Now I've been stuck on this logo for about an hour, I can't turn it off. I'm assuming the only way to is to wait for it to run out of power.
I have been using TWRP this whole time.
I twice have backed up, and wiped data.
When I hit restore I saw no backups though, I'm not sure if they were for the ROM?
I don't know, I only have a year of experience.
Edit: I have an 8.1" T700 from Amazon.

Hi! To force reboot while in a soft brick, press and hold power+home button+ both volume buttons all at the same time.
Then when the screen goes black, quickly press the odin\download mode button combo or recovery comba if you wish.
Luckily, I have mirrored the latest firmware for the T700 to a faster hosting site. This is an UK firmware and is the latest one. It should flash fine as I have flashed different firmwares from different countries many times.
Download Firmware (fast download): https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347761130
Now, ironrom has problems with root sometimes. When I make roms I don't preroot them as they cause problems of binaries if you preroot them. Anyway feel free to flash the firmware with odin or load an custom ROM to your sd card and flash it.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for getting me out of the brick and back to stock.
However going into Supersu it says.
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSu cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root- consult the relevant forums for your device!"
My question is, can I properly re-root it the way I had been?
I'm assuming if it soft bricks again I can just reinstall a stock ROM again.
Also all these ROMS and backups take up a lot of space, how would I go about deleting those when I'm done?

In my files app, look for an folder called TWRP. Your backups are in there. To root simply install twrp and follow the twrp method to root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59638836
You can delete your backups from within twrp. Just select restore, then the backup, then delete.
Ok so everything was fine for a while until the next morning. Now it boots into TWRP no matter what. i assume it was a automatic OTA update to lollipop(i am on kitkat still). I tried installing a debloated lollipop rom but that didn't work and now i have downloaded a completely stock kitkat rom. I tried flashing it with the LGFlashTool but i kept getting "cannot boot into download mode" so after some searching i found out that you have to use a OEM cable and i was using a cheapo one so i went to att today and got one but i keep getting the same error.
i have done all the steps correctly for the LGFlashTool, i triple checked. installed drivers and everything. Any help is appreciated, thank you
for those watching, i am not sure what the hell happened but it works now. after about 10+ times i called it quites and started playing games and decided to try one more time and it worked. not sure what was going on but i'm good to go!
