That's fine. All you have to do is flash a custom recovery (guides in the link of my sig, or look for Ace Think Tank) and you'll be good to go.
S-OFF means securities flag checks are off, therefore you can flash ROMs without having to flash the boot.img from the bootloader, resulting in an easier experience.

You should find a custom recovery like CWM or 4EXT packed as PD98IMG.zip, put to root of sdcard then flash it in bootloader. After that go to recovery to flash supersu v1.8 from chainfire. That's all

[Q] Can't install Clockworkmod, or XDA recovery

I'm trying to install clockworksmod on my wildfire S. I've managed to unlock it using the htcdev.com instructions, but when I try to install a recovery -- XDA or clockworks it keeps telling me that the model ID is incorrect, what's going on? Any help would be appreciated!

Are you using this image from Clockworkmod site?
recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvel.img
Also try installing ROM Manager app from store and flashing recovery using it.
Or maybe flashing it using fastboot?
---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:32 PM ----------
Also check are you using CDMA or GSM recovery version, it should match your phone...
Thanks for the reply, I finally found this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702542 and it worked to root my phone. Thanks a bunch!

[Q] red triangle

My phone is rooted with S-off, I was running the JB 4.1.1 rom. I went to add the PC36IMG zip and when it was done it asked to reboot. And the darn thing rebooted and went back to stock rom. When I power it off and go into boot loader then recovery it gives me the red triangle.. I tried pushing the power and vol up and it goes into a different recovery menu, with only update from sd option... so i try to click on the JB rom and it fails.. I am lost now...please someone help.. I want the JB back...
What pc36img did you try to flash? I'm not an evo guru by any means, but it sounds like you flashed an ruu. Download rootchecker from the play store and see if your even rooted

Go into a terminal (get terminal emulator from play store) and type "su" into it and see if you get any prompt
So what you're saying is that now you're back on Sense? Not AOSP? Would you mind posting a screenshot?

Sorry for asking so much.

If I wasent in a 1000 ton injection mold machine I'd be more help

OK I'm outta work , re-reading your posts I believe your are confused , when you unlocked your phone through HTC dev unlock its different than fully removing the security or "s-off" . the way you have to flash a ROM being HTC dev unlocked requires an extra step in the flashing process , which is after u flash your ROM eg. CyanogenMod , for it to boot you have to extract the boot.IMG of that particular ROM and flash that separately from fast boot . there is no universal boot.IMG like you tried googling. The file should always be there .
There are threads that better describe the process better but hope this will help you start to understand the process

The same thing happened to me... Just flash the official RUU and see if it boots. If it does, just flash any ROM that you want.
As for the RUU, I flashed the global version.

He also said it was through recovery, recovery doesn't have access to the boot partition, therefore flashing a kernel through recovery won't work.

[Q] rooting ?

is there any way to root the htc one verizon model ?
The link below is the easiest way to S-OFF unlock the boot loader and root all at once if you are on 4.2.2 and below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2473644
If you are on 4.3 you will have to wait. Unless you are S-OFF already then you can just download the superuser zip file and flash it in your custom recovery.
