So before I rooted my phone, I liked the fact that I had a power save toggle, that I would turn on around 30% and I can notice an increase in power save.
But ever since I rooted it, I no longer have the option for that toggle, or I'm pretty sure I don't.
Is there any way I can get that power save toggle in my quick panel settings?

Hi developers!
Would anyone be able to develop a tweak for the Desire so that we could use the volume keys to also modify the screen brightness up and down.
I'm thinking of something like when you first press the + or - button, a pop-up appears on the screen asking you whether you want to switch to brightness control and tapping on the screen would effectively switch to brightness control, while not tapping the screen but keeping pressing on the + or - button would maintain the default volume control (so that people who do not need the brightness control would not suffer the hassle of this additional option).
I think such tweaked feature would be a great addon to our phone. I'm used to use the lowest brightness possible in order to save battery but once I go outdoor or in any bright environement, I need to rapidely increase the screen brightness without the hassle of having to go through Settings etc...

You should try Brightness Profiles

Why dont you use power control from widgets.
So brightness can be changed without exiting apps.
A bit like in-app wifi switch (switch wifi with search button)
The dev of this app is on this forum and may be able to help.

Yes I know, I'm already using it
It is the best thing I found so far for my need, but it is still not perfect!
Because when I'm using an App requiring more brightness, I still need to "quit" it go to Home, hit the Brightness Profiles widget, change the brightness and switch back to the App.
For ultimate convenience, I wish I could just use the volume control buttons so that I would never have to go back and forth off my App screen...
I'm probably too lazy but still, that would be a cool feature (not less useful imho than using than tweaking the trackpad to make it a power button).

This is exactly the philosophy behind what i'm looking for... and I was thinking of using the volume keys because brightness needs to be set up and down just like volume...
I think a switch may be better. Pressing it forces 100%. Then you could use a less used key. Like holding search.
Search for in-app wifi toggle in the market and email the dev. You never know he may develop the app you want if it only involves changing a few lines in his existing app.

The way I get round this is using Bar Control to put a shortcut to Brightness Profiles in the notification window shade - so changing the brightness is only ever a drag then tap away. You never have to leave your current app at all.
Tbh though, I would rather a hardware control like the vol key - the other day I had gone outside in the bright sun, and I honestly thought my phone had switched itself off cos I couldn't see the screen well enough to perform this simple procedure.
It's pretty rubbish imho that the battery life/poor AMOLED screen tech mean we have eff around changing screen brightness manually. In fact I'd go so far as to say it's a major fault with the phone...
My coworker bought the Galaxy-Nexus last week from Verizon, and says the battery life just sucks so bad, he said dead by mid day, battery is lucky to get 6 hours. He wants to know if there is a way to turn off LTE ? I thought you could turn it off like Sprint's 4G ? I never use the 4G on my Galaxy SII, I get 10 hours battery life on super heavy use weekdays, and get like 30+ hours on weekend light use.
I told him the 4G settings should be in; Settings-Wireless and Network-?
Thanks
What other tips would you recommend for settings to conserve battery life on the Verizon Nexus ? I am sure the standard stuff I do on my Galaxy SII; Location settings turned off, watch the sync times, no LTE, no auto brightness, etc... ?
Settings -> Wireless & Networds select More ... -> Moblie Networks ->Network Mode -> select CDMA
Is there a way to make that into a shortcut? So you can either switch it on off from home screen, or at least make a shortcut to get straight there?

Good question. I still do not understand why Google does not add widget toggles up in the notification bar to stock Android ? They should have the most used widget toggles up there; WiFi...Bluetooth...GPS...Sound...4G...

Best temp solution that I have seen is LTE Switch. I'll admit though, the icon is pretty ugly.
I tried Widgetsoid, which adds CM-like toggles to the notification menu... but no 4G icon.
Honestly I don't use 4G that often so I just leave it disabled. I can go from 8am~9pm on a charge with some pretty heavy usage (including an hour of XDA reading, games, etc)
Beautiful widgets had a 4G button you could add, I remember seeing it when I had my Fascinate but of course it wasn't 4G. I'll add the button on my Nexus and report back if it works.
-Edit-
Says it only works with HTC devices, oh well!!
Hi,
I usually have a GB CM7 ROM on my phone but I upgraded to Jelly Bean. Previously, I was able to use the Power Control widget that comes with CM7 to just toggle stuff on/off, like GPS.
Now, since I've upgraded to Jelly Bean, this Power Control widget is gone. I got a replacement off the Play Store called Widgetsoid, that resides in the notification menu up top, eg you swipe down and all the toggles are there. They all work fine, except the GPS. Instead of turning it on and off, it opens the Location settings and I have to turn GPS on/off manually.
I heard that if I change the permissions of this app, it will automatically toggle it properly. Is this true? If not, can anyone recommend me a Power Control widget that will meet my needs?
Thanks.
My GF has the infuse 4g and if you hold the power button down a few seconds it pops up with the options to put it in plane mode, power off, etc. but it also allows you to shut off the data plan. I am being very cautious with my data plan and turn it off quite often when im not using the phone. I was hoping for a quicker means to toggle it off/on like via the power button, or the scrollbare at the top of the screen when you drag the top of the screen down.
Any way to add this capability so I dont need to keep hitting settings and data usage?
Thank you
if you flash a rom with 15 toggle mod it comes with it in the status bar.

Or if you want a stock solution, use the widget Favorite Settings. It has the data usage button on there so you could just click it and take you straight to data usage to turn it off.
I haven ever flashed the roms or any of that before so I would need to go through and learn how to do it. but my main concern with those is that I would lose my tv-out functionality if I go to a different Rom from what I hear.
Thanks for the feedback
It would be cool to have it in the scroll bar if possible.
For now I have D/L'ed the "data enabler" app and put it on my home screen.
Or you can add the Settings widget 1x1 and select Data Usage. This gives you a 2 click solution to turn mobile data on/off.
I really hate the fact that the toggle isn't in the drop down menu. Makes me think ATT is resorting to methods of confusing is customers in order to nickel and dime us.

i just moved to my backup 5X i bought a few months ago while my note 7 sits safely away from anything it can explode on. is there a way to get an NFC toggle on the quick settings? i dont like leaving it on all the time and prefer to quickly enable it if i need to use android pay. it takes a few too many swipes and clicks to get into the options and turn it on/off.
Custom Quick Settings offers an NFC toggle tile, although it seems to require root... android pay
