ATT Phone not Acknowleding SIM Card - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I have an ATT phone and tried putting a TMO SIM inside. Running Stock 4.3.
1) I am not getting a 'network sim lock' message prompting me to enter a code. I never had it at 4.1.1 to do the unlock code sequence; just 4.0.4 (when I did get the unlock sequence) and now 4.3.
2) Even though the Tmo cell is in, it tells me the phone is not registered on any network.
3) GO to settings > more > Mobile networks and get the 'Insert Sim Card to Access Network Services' even though there IS a sim in there.
Any halp?

I had the same problem when I updated to 4.3, I flashed a modem from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47817339&postcount=23 through CWM and after I rebooted I had data working and the SIM was being read.

[Q] My galaxy s3 won't recognize any sim?

i have the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-I747. the phone is already unlocked so i know it should accept foreign sims but it doesn't recognize any sim i put in it. so far ive used 3 different simple mobile sims and none of them have worked. i called AT&T to find out if my IEMI was blocked or blacklisted but they said no, the phone should be working perfectly. plus weird thing is, i get the signal bars next to the battery as if the sim is working but it still says "No Sim. Insert Sim Card"
the phone is rooted so i was wondering maybe that has something to do with it? the phone was working perfectly fine until i rooted it. the specs are:
Android Version: 4.1.1
Baseband Version: I747UCLEM
Kernel Version: 3.0.31 - 274808
Build number: JRO03L.I747UCDLK3
please i am very desperate to get it working by tonight. does anybody know why my galaxy s3 won't recognize any simple mobile sim put in it? is there software im missing or updates i need? i already tried unrooting my phone, no luck.

I hate to ask the question but are you sure you had the phone unlocked and if so how did you do it?

yes the phone is unlocked. maybe i forgot to mention this earlier but it was using a simple mobile sim card perfect before i rooted it. i called AT&T international and they gave me the unlock code after i asked. i didn't need it tho because they told me if it wasn't unlocked, after i put the foreign sim in, it would prompt for the unlock code but the phone never prompts for one, just says "No Sim insert Sim card", something along those lines. further more i was informed that if it wasn't unlocked, it would say "unrecognizable sim" instead of "no sim". the fact that it says "no sim" means it won't read the sim card. the thing is no matter what sim card i put it (i tried 3 or 4 different ones) the phone still says "no sim"
i tried changing the modem to every single one compatible with the SGH i747 model and nothing helped. i tried changing the modem to a Tmobile modem because i know simple mobile uses Tmobile radio towers but that didn't help at all. i deleted all the cache and unrooted the phone but that didn't help so i rerooted it again. i don't know im just extremely frustrated right now. i've spent hours on the interenet and called AT&T international countless times to try and fix it but they always tell me its the sim cards fault but i know its not because i've tried it in other phones and they work. i'm just looking for a miracle here.
oh i did try to flash a custom rom and kernel but it didn't work and i received an error message and rebooted it without tampering with the rom and kernel again. maybe that has something to do with it?
Try doing a kies factory restore mate.

I have the same situation, after doing this:
Just dial the following keys *#197328640#
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!! There is no confirmation on the phone that the unlock was successfull.... just reboot your phone....
Now it does not ask for the code unlock when i insert the t-mobile sim card, it shows error mm#6 or its says, sim card not allowed cannot conect to the network.
Hey OP, how did you solve this issue?
Rooted Galaxy S3 No Sim
Hi, I have exact same situation. I have an unlocked S3 originally locked to Telus. I got it rooted and lost the unlock -- it only reads Telus/Koodo sim card. Anybody help please?
PS: S3 shows the signal, however does not recognize the SIM!

You have to be on completely stock 4.1.1 for this to work...
Same Problem
Sadly to say I have the same problem but on a new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N900V. I bought it online and it was supposed to be factory unlocked but it doesn't work on Fido, koodo, or bell; so I am not sure if it is factory unlocked. It says No SIM on all three sim cards. I tried rooting and it is still the same. I don't know what's wrong but I tried contacting Verizon who is the carrier of the phone but you can't get help unless you have a phone plan with them. And then I want to be using this on koodo and they won't help you because the phone is not from them. I am going crazy, anyone know how this can be fixed.
I do not have "[4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ"

What ROM was on your phone? Is it the i747 or i747m? The thread you linked is for the international version of the Note 2.

Unlock not working? Why?

I got the unlock code for my att note 2 it went through then it says sim not provisioned mm 2. How do I fix it so I can use it on T-Mobile
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Sim not provisioned mm2 means that the sim card tbat is currently in the phone is not activated on any network. Get a new Sim card and activate it OR just activate the one that is in the phone.
So after doing the free unlock trick, all we have to do is pop in a working T-Mo sim for it to work? No tweaking anything or flashing radios?
If you have an ATT device, you will have to load the TMO apn's for the device to work.
Radio image should work, but you may need to try a different image based on your location.
Apn settings are critical....g

Yes it will work..all you need is the tmobile modem..which will make the correct apns are enabled properly. ..
Clean rom for example is for multi carriers and you can flash it for att or tmobile. .just for an example. ..make surebyou have a updated good modem for that carrier...clear/cache dalvik cache install modem...reboot should work just fine. Did this on my note 1 and a tmobile guy bought it off me, I had the modem installed prehand and he inserted his sim power it on and bam..worked fine

Are you shure that your SIM card work?
IF yes and it dosent work you can go in:
Settings > (Connection Tab) > More network > Mobile Network > Network Operators
Now it will display : Searching... (wait nd after select Virgin Mobile
if it still dosent work, make shure that your sime card does work on a stock Virgin Mobile Phone
If that still didnt fix your problem mabye a facory reset may fix your device.
*** Warning by doing that you will loose all your data that is on your phone ***
Download Kies 3 on your PC
on kies 3 go into: > tool > emergency firmware upgrade and intialisation
enter your phone model : SGH-I747
after they ask your S/N (that you can found under your phone under the battery on the sticker)
after they ask you to put your phone into download mode (turn off your phone hold power + volume down + home button at the same time then when you are going to see a warning (on your phone) just press volum up to continue)
And kies will unoot ( if the phone is rooted) and restaure the stock android firware no rooted (4.3)
And Voilà! just have to wait till its done
Give me some feedback if it worked or not!
I tried all of that but it still does not receive cals
Have you tried using the correct APN's for Virgin Mobile?

Isnt Virgin mobile a CDMA service? If so, the i747 won't work on their network for calls. It is a GSM phone.
In Canada I believe Virgin is GSM. I don't know if we have any CDMA in Canada.

Ah, I did not know CDMA didn't exist in Canada.
CDMA currently exists in Canada and is in the process of being discontinued.

unable to use wind sim card.

Hello, I have a huge problem with my t mobile sgh t999, when i put my wind sim card in it, it shows no network available, and when i try to register to a network, 302490 is displayed instead of WIND. When I try to connect to it, it says that my sim card is unable to select the network.
Anyone got any solutions?
Have you checked if the apn is correct? Is it unlocked? Can you get another SIM from someone and try it?

Unlocking SM-T217S Galaxy Tab 3 Sprint.

I have the MSL code but when I put a sim card in for ATT and reset the device it says invalid sim card. I never get an option to enter the code in to unlock the device for another carrier. I am stock firmware not rooted. I actually tried loading ATT stock firmware on to the tablet and that didn't work at all. I can't take it to sprint because the person I bought it from is not in good standing with them.
Any help would be awesome!
I know this is old, but did you ever get your tablet sim unlocked?
I have one I have been trying to get unlocked, using an idoneapps unlocking app to debrand and unlock my tablet. I’ve run the app several times and while it got rid of the sprint branding and boot image, and says sim unlock successful, I keep getting invalid SIM card error.
ive reset network settings, my tablet is stock 4.4.2 firmware and rooted.
