I can confirm this works. I have a T-mobile sim inserted in my Verizon Note 3. Make sure you change your apn settings. I've had issues sending and receiving MMS with the suggested T-mobile apn settings. I have APN protocol set to IPv4 and APN roaming protocol set to IPv4/IPv6. This worked for awhile then it stopped working after I started playing with settings again (I just can't leave things alone). I managed to get mms working using hangouts to send and receive mms. I had to open hangouts go to settings - SMS - Access point names - select fast.metropcs.com.
Writing this just made me think of something else to try. I will try and report back. I would love others feed back to help refine this beast!
Have any of your tried and make sure that Verison Note 3 gets T-mobile LTE signal?
Tmo lte is not everywhere yet, should be able to at least get hspa. As far as I know, all of the gn3 variants in us / have lte capability should work. Att ones only work in refarmed areas.

any updates on this i'm buying one today and need to know if i should get the Verizon n900v or the tmobile n900t i'm on tmobile now but will be switching to Verizon here i'm about 6 months

Ok. I ask because it came to my attention during research into my own recent phone purchases that Verizon will only allow LTE phones like the Note 3 onto their network via a postpaid plan, which means a contract. As long as you're planning to go back to Vz on a 2 year postpaid contract 6 months from now, things should work out fine.
As for the swap helping things in your area, from what I've read, the t-mobile/vz spectrum swap won't even be finalized until sometime this summer. Then they've got to actually gear up to use it. Could be a year or more before it sees wide use.
Also, even though it's Vz spectrum, it's a block that Vz never used. So there's no guarantee any existing phone will be able to access the new spectrum, including a Vz Note 3, even with some sort of radio firmware update. The new spectrum is great for the future, but I wouldn't count on it swinging anything in T- mobiles favor in the time frame you've indicated.
Sorry if this has been asked. What about using unlocked tmobile note 3 on verizon network? Is it possible? I don't know much about what bands needed for verizon . I'm thinking about switching to verizon if I can use tmobile note 3 on their network.
Nope. The T-mobile Note 3 doesn't have a CDMA radio, for one.

Have an AT&T i317 unlocked with a T-mobile data sim.
I've done the tweak to enable the 3G/4G bands, a la http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068041
But now T-mobile added LTE in a few markets. I drove through one and suddenly got no data access. This is with "preferred network mode" set to LTE/WCDMA. If I switch to GSM/WCDMA, all is well (it sticks to the HSUPA and H+). So clearly it thinks it's on LTE but the phone can't access the T-mobile LTE.
I'm using Cyanogenmod 10.1, android 4.2.2, which also makes the model number show GT-N7105 instead of i317.
any tweaks to add the LTE? do i need to dump CM and use a diff ROM? do i need to go back to stock first to do any of this? (Right now, I can no longer dial *#7284#)
Thanks!

Does the AT&T version have LTE? If it doesn't have the capability, but he modem is telling it to access it when it sees it, that might be why it dropped out completely. I'm mostly curious to see if AT&T LTE devices can use t-mobile's LTE network because I want to get an s4 active and I don't want to lose LTE by making that switch.
Try this for me, instead of that model number you have. Change it to the T-Mobile model#. Which is going to have to b done thru the build prop. Then reboot. Then go try and c if you pick up lte.
Because I just flashed a AT&T Rom on a T-Mobile GN2. And I pick up lte just fine with my AT&T SIM in there! And no AWS MOD what so ever. But the MODEM is still TMO, it'll always b TMO. Flash a att modem on a TMO GN2. Brick city.
Let me know what happens just curious!!
Edit: the Rom I flashed was SKY NOTE 9. No modem included!!!

WELL, here's your answer.
Maybe they getting the device at a cheaper price. Which would make someone but it. Instead of spending a lot more to have have the carrier brand you need. FYI
Both the phones are exactly the same. Besides the model# and done bloat. Like I said above, if it's unlocked it'll work, with both carrier's. So why not have that option to switch... and one more thing being able to take the phone internationally, and pop a SIM inside and ya have service. No roaming !!!
Just my 2¢® 2 you're question...
Att now has prepaid lte plan almost same as tmobile only .5 gb less of data everything else the same at 60 dollars . Plus att has better coverage well at least in the areas I frequent .

When a t-mobile version is available, I do buy it, but with ATT exclusives, that's not an option. For instance, I want the s4 active for its water resistance. T-mobile will soon offer the xperia Z, but when you compare the features and perormance, the s4 active is better, so for the money i'm willing to spend on a smartphone, i'd rather have the s4 active.. the hardware is capable of t-mobile LTE, but it still has to be configured properly with firmware and software to use the radios correctly. Since radios are some of the hardest pieces of firmware to alter, it's worth doing this investigation / collaborating to find work-arounds.
I didn't get tmobile lte on my at&t note 2 until I flashed the new at&t radio. That's all that had to be done. I'm using Skynote9 too. I did the aws mod again so I could get h+ 4g speed enabled and now is a flawless tmobile phone. Let me know if it works for you.

I switched to MetroPcs because the LTE/4G and the unlimited data plan.I bought T-mobile note 3 and used it on MetroPcs sim card and It was working very good in Saginaw ,MI. However, I returned the tmobile note to them because the device was frozen when I push the power button. My concern now is that dose the note 3 n9005 compatible on Metropcs LTE/G4 and will work just fine or not.
No. LTE not compatible.

Hmmm I don't see the problem with it. You will have to get the phone unlocked for when you input the sim card then flash the corrective kernals. At least that's what I know when using phones meant for one company to another. Not that I did it or anything.

If both companies offer LTE, and n9005 is LTE(Which I found here http://www.sammobile.com/2013/09/01/galaxy-note-iii-lte-model-sm-n9005-passes-gcf-certification/, shouldn't it be compatible?
The hspa will be compatible but LTE bands between USA and the rest world differ.

OHHHH Okay. HSPA is okay kind of. I used it a while back. Hey OP, is HSPA available in your area from Metro, because I know they started offering it. If so, there you go.
Thanks for all you guys I just bought a new note 3 from t mobile store and it's working very good on MetroPcs without rooting it. LTE also working in Saginaw very fast ( 25mb -38mb).
Congratulations. If you get around to flashing roms I highly recommend flashing an int'l rom on it.

"Be on guard against covetousness because one's life doesn't consist in the amount of their possessions."
So recently I came found pretty beaten up HTC ONE that is Verizon branded. I called and they said its a bad ESN that the previous owner didn't finish the payment. So I was wondering, (yes I looked through various threads and could not get to a final answer) if I use this phone with an AT&T sim, it will work right? Verizon HTC ONES are required to be GSM unlocked and ESN only matters to CDMA carriers and not GSM carriers. Thanks.
Are you asking the XDA community or are you telling us? I'm confused as to what you are getting across here. If you have an AT&T sim or know someone who does then pop the sim in and find out if it works... Did you call Verizon or AT&T and ask if they will activate it?

It is unlocked, so as long as it has the proper bands in it, it should work on AT&T. I'm not sure if it'll work with LTE or just 3G. No idea as I've never tried. I've also read that you have to update APN settings. AT&T may not "officially" let you use, like register it to your account because it wasn't an AT&T phone but if you can pop a SIM card in it you should be able to use it, as long as it works.

Wrong. You're thinking of T-Mobile
http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-one/#specs
The VZW variant HTC One includes the following GSM bands: UMTS/HSPA 1900/2100MHz and GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz. These frequencies align with AT&T's services. T-Mobile uses AWS bands (which include 1700mhz) for their HSPA.
I might be wrong.. but all Verizon Phones are Sim-Locked for any USA carrier, you could however use the phone just fine in any out of the country carriers. but like i said i might be wrong which i often am

Don't waste your time. My thoughts were the same when I bought my Verizon One. I planned on using it with a GSM carrier. I had read that its hardware had the necessary bands and they probably are there but I can guarantee that they are at least being blocked somehow by Verizon (data-wise) . I only got 2G and this is from actual hands-on experience with SIM cards from both at&t and T-Mobile. Voice worked great but data was horrible.

They ARE sim unlocked but crafty Verizon somehow managed to block high speed data even though they are SIM unlocked. I'm sure this can be fixed somehow but nobody seems to be that interested in getting this taken care of. Is it a Verizon One? Did you flash anything to turn off the speed cap?
I have a Verizon HTC one and I have a Straight talk ATT Micro sim card. ATT has great coverage in my area. You will only get Edge data. But text and calls will work. Reason is because you need both the 850Mhz and 1900Mhz band for ATT. I believe you will get HSPA on a Tmobile sim if Tmobile has the 1900 band rolled out in your area.
I have a droid DNA and with the ATT Sim card in the DNA I get HSPA speeds but only edge speeds on the One. The DNA has more bands available where as the HTC one from Verizon has the 800/1900 gsm bands. Since most of ATT uses 850Mhz, you can't just have one band and expect 3g/4g you need both.
Also just tried a tmobile straight talk SIM card in my Verizon one and still only get edge. To get better speeds you would have to get a different phone like the DNA, gs4, or an actual att or tmobile phone.

Hello, all.
I recently decided that I must move from T Mobile to ATT because of unresolvable signal issues with the Note 3 at work. The phone was paid for in full at T-Mobile, and I was told that all I needed to do to move to ATT was to follow an unlocking procedure, which I did at the ATT store. At the ATT store I also moved my Nexus 5 over to ATT without a hitch, but the Note 3 has no LTE or data for that matter. Voice and text work fine. This had the ATT employee stumped.
Is there a technical reason for this and if so, how do I fix it? Many thanks.

I really didn't want to give up T-Mobile because I was getting amazing 40/10Mbps LTE. It doesn't matter to me what I get at home, since my home connection is 100/5. Now I'm on AT&T I am getting about 6/1 but at least I can use my phone at work without worrying about reliability.

Yes you can! The newer galaxy models like the note 3 and synchronized what bands they utilize for communication.
Hello,
I just got my note 4 via Amazon today. I was trying to be smart and save some money by trying to use Straight talk service (At&t) on a verizon Note 4 because it was a $100 cheaper. Considering the fact that verizon devices are unlocked for GSM use I thought why not try my luck.
So off i went to experiment with a great deal of doubt if this might work. Popped my Sim in, peeled the protector off and first thing i did was to create and save my APN. It took me less then a minute to realize the harsh fact that LTE was not going to work. Searched the web, called Customer care (like they would actually be of any help) and found nothing. Nada, zero, khallas. The dreaded 'H' is all i get and its annoying the crap out of me.
And here I am now debating whether i should spend a $100 more to go get the att note 4 or send this back and get the nexus 6. Almost out.
SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE.
Thanks!!
LTE only works with T-Mobile using Verizon phones in most cases.
Uhh if you did your research before hand you'd know that the Verizon version only supports LTE Band 13/4 while AT&T uses different bands for LTE. It's literally listed on the product's page on Verizon's website.
I'll not hesitate to admit the fact that I'm an idiot.

Guys. LTE just popped up on the phone this morning. Straighttalk Att LTE does work on the Verizon Note 4. I can confirm that! This has just made my day. The gamble did pay off.
I appreciate the feedback from you guys.

Att lte ? I just saw your said att lte in your post. That's awesome ! Where did you buy your developer edition ? I check Verizon website and didn't see it there

Do they come unlocked to use on all carrier or still need to be regional unlocked ?
Yeah, I've the Att Micro SIM in this device. It's not the developer version, just the normal Version infact. Verizon devices are unlocked right out the box so you don't have to go for the region unlock. Cheers!

Did you buy the phone or did you find it? Just curious if "bad" esn phones will work outside of verizon network.
I hope more people can confirm it working on att because I've always been told Verizon uses different bands than att
Att LTE from what I know should work on band4.

Hello,
I just got my note 4 via Amazon today.
Straight Talk is AT&T and Verizon, it uses both, and I know from experience moving Verizon lte phones to Straight talk, every straight talk phone ends in -A or -V depending on which network is used.
So wat all we have to do is put a straight talk sim in a verizon phone and it will work cause I am confused here straight talk told me I can not use a verizon note 3 or 4

First it has to be compatible, you can go to their website and check the imei. If compatible, you need to go through the process, which in my experience, costs about 8 for a code you need. They also sell kits in the store. Not all phones are tested to work, but many do anyway.
Bit of a cell noob when it comes to this stuff since I've been on a contract for years but I'm tired of paying 90 something odd dollars for just myself so I want to switch to Straight Talk. So if I want a Verizon Note 4 (Verizon is the best service in this area and I need it especially where I'm at) I just buy an unlocked Verizon Note 4 and then get a Straight Talk kit from Wal-Mart to use with it and it's that simple or is there more to it?
Yes. It will work just fine. I've had the same combination for 2 weeks now and works great. One step you will have to do is to create an APN setting on the phone to have working Internet. Just search for Straighttalk ATT APN settings through google. Pretty simple!

All you need is a ATT Straightalk SIM and that will do the trick. Use APN settings on their website to get working data. Verizon Smartphones in the last year (especially IPhone 5 and above) are compatible with GSM (Straighttalk/Cricket/T-Mobile)
