Do these cameras develop purple hue over time? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

So I've never had low light photo issues at all with this phone. They've always turned out great...until tonight. The photos went from great, to horrible. I've read about the purple hue issue (who hasn't...), but I don't think I've seen anything about it happening over time. Has anyone else had this dramatic change in photo quality after 3.5 months? My battery is really low so I'm hoping that's causing it...extremely wishful thinking :'(

its definitely possible. a lot of people in that behemoth of a thread about the purple hue issue suggested that the sensor gets progressively more messed up over time from the heat of the phone.

Dang...horrible timing to develop the issue between the 4.3 update and vacation next week.

I took some more shots this morning and apparently in my situation, it basically has to be pitch black in HDR to get the artifacting as seen in the first picture...as long as it doesn't get any worse, it's not an issue for me. If I'm taking pictures in places that dark, the blur cause by the alcohol would make the picture impossible to see anyways haha. I'm sure I'll send it in for repair after the new year though since I'm OCD. Here are the shots from this morning that seem fine to me...night and normal mode (pardon the horribly dirty floors...3 huskies...)

HDR and low light don't really go together. use the night mode. And its possible that the purple hue is heat related. As your battery gets lower, it heats up while trying to maintain proper voltage.

you're the first person that I've seen that has that smearing issue in low light like me. It makes me so sad :/
It's Def a hardware issue for the smearing, yet I'm torn if the hue could be fixed. It's reduced in 4.3 for sure it seems tho

Yea, from what I've read, the hue is a lot more common. I had just never heard of anyone having either issue show up after 3.5 months. Sounds like people are having good luck sending it in for repair, though. That's my plan once I get back from vacation. Luckily I have my og Motorola Droid that I can use for the week my One is gone.

I've been noticing it a lot more lately too, I'm not sure if it might be the rom or kernel related because it seems it's better on some roms than others.

Had mine in night mode and it still doesn't look good...

You can book a warranty repair through HTC. I did a quick online chat with them and they said whenever I'm ready, just call in and they'll get it set up with instructions on where/how to send the phone in.

New screen problems

So I just got my phone a few days ago and while browsing the web I noticed my screen sometimes loses color? Like it goes black and while lines like a static from a tv. Not that bad but it is getting worse. Should I return the phone or what? Is this the same problem with lines and blobs everybody else is having?

Your the first person I have heard have this issue. Best thing to due is return it back to stock if you have modded it and get it replaced. Something is wrong with your phone and should definitely be replaced.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
are you sure maybe it's not the AutoBrightness acting up?
try with auto brightness disabled
Would that cause it? I usually have my brightness on high though, which it was at the time.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
this is definitely a new and unique, almist certainly, hardware fault. Reset factory settings and return.
Sounds like he's mistakenly referring to the known "checkerboarding" issue in the stock browser as black & whites lines from a TV...
Just my two cents..

No, that would not cause it. The symptom of that issue is fluctuating brightness not color dropping out. The problem could be a bad video connector or cable in the phone, or a bad display panel. Take it back while you can.

Mine is also dimmer than it was on ICS. After the OTA update I noticed it. Did factory reset with same results. Formatted everything and applied the rooted version through odin and still have them dimmed LED. Updated my brothers S3 and his is the exact same. I got a text message last night and the LED was fully illuminated, but after I opened it and received another message after it was dim again.
This needs to be fixed I'm very ocd about stuff and this is fine of em

I always thought they needed more power? but they are more efficient as using this power?? I dont remember its been forever since ive studied electronics
Anywasy, on topic, i run CM10 and dont think its all that dim. Maybe they added an option inside the settings for brightness? I wish it had the "breathing" option instead of just flashiing. But check for a setting maybe?

Not really positive about details. I think they are more efficient. Whether they use more power I have no idea. I know our utilities company is offering to take old Christmas lights and they give you LED strands instead for free.

Single color LEDs are quite efficient. These multi-color, variable brightness LEDs are somewhat less so. That doesn't really matter the question at hand though because most of the power drain of LEDs is just having them on. The difference in power drain from a low intensity to a high intensity is marginal.

SAMOLED burn-in - anyone else had warranty issues?

I've sent my Galaxy Nexus off for screen replacement twice now - both times, the Samsung UK repair centre in Norwich has said there is no fault found.
It's really not that hard to miss - I have a large area of different colours where the navigation bar lives compared to the rest of the screen. It makes landscape video watching quote annoying.
Has anyone else had problems getting out replaced? Mine was just 11 months old when I first sent it off, back in March. This time around, it was marked as repaired and awaiting delivery on the 10th April - I called today to find out what's happening with it, only to be told it was still on the premises.
Not really the service standards I'd hoped for - the handset was over £500 when I got it.

burn in is normal. this has been beaten into the ground already.

I know it happens, though I'd hoped using the pentile display would've eliminated the problems they had with the Galaxy S and S2. My question was has anyone else had issues getting the display swapped when under a year old?
I think at this age, it's a premature failure. Am I mistaken?
Thanks,
Rich

No, far from it. Screen is always set to automatic brightness, with 30 second time-out. It's never been left on overnight, used as a sat-nav, or streamed vast amounts of TV or anything like that.
This is why I'm so annoyed - I don't mistreat it. And a phone of this calibre should remain defect-free for longer than 11 months, surely...

This. It happens. I never leave my screen on for more than 2 minutes, unless I'm watching a video, which then the status bar and navbar are hidden.
So it just happens, unfortunately.
Mine doesn't burn-in.but there are two brighter lines than other areas ,at the top and bottom of the screen.

orange blotch (bleeding?) when hot

so when my phone gets hot and i go into an app that has a white background, i.e. play store, i get a couple of light orange blotches that appear to be pixel bleeding of some sort. when i cool it down, i.e. put it in the fridge or freezer, it goes away. Does anyone else have this issue? any ideas whats causing it? im pretty sure it didn't happen until i switched from lifeless to aosp. but i think the only reason it didn't happen on lifeless was because my phone didn't get this hot
Could be the color saturation issues with AOSP. I know my screen had an orangeish tint when it got hot on AOSP but not on stock.

High pitch rattling during vibration. Normal?

Hey guys, I'm having an issue where when the phone vibrates, there is a high frequency rattle that comes with it. I am wondering if this is just the nature of the phone or theres something wrong with it. Care to share anybody?

That's fortunate for you. I plan on keeping mine for awhile though.
I feel it might be on all devices. When I shake the device, I can hear, I think, the auto focus shaking. The rattling might be a product of the auto focus shaking with the phone which is okay with me. I just dont want it to be loose pieces bouncing around in my phone.
