If not that, try an app called Light Flow Lite - that has some LED settings you can change.

I'm bone stock and this is my second s3 in two days that the led looked dim after the update already tried a factory reset.

Mine is also dimmer than it was on ICS. After the OTA update I noticed it. Did factory reset with same results. Formatted everything and applied the rooted version through odin and still have them dimmed LED. Updated my brothers S3 and his is the exact same. I got a text message last night and the LED was fully illuminated, but after I opened it and received another message after it was dim again.
This needs to be fixed I'm very ocd about stuff and this is fine of em

I always thought they needed more power? but they are more efficient as using this power?? I dont remember its been forever since ive studied electronics
Anywasy, on topic, i run CM10 and dont think its all that dim. Maybe they added an option inside the settings for brightness? I wish it had the "breathing" option instead of just flashiing. But check for a setting maybe?

Not really positive about details. I think they are more efficient. Whether they use more power I have no idea. I know our utilities company is offering to take old Christmas lights and they give you LED strands instead for free.

Single color LEDs are quite efficient. These multi-color, variable brightness LEDs are somewhat less so. That doesn't really matter the question at hand though because most of the power drain of LEDs is just having them on. The difference in power drain from a low intensity to a high intensity is marginal.

This is an engineering flaw. When the voltage from the battery drops, when it is not fully charged, and the screen brightness is at maximum, and the screen has a lot of white pixels drawing power, the display controller loses power, and has trouble with sync.
The battery will also drain slowly, when the brightness is set at max, even when plugged in and supposedly charging. This is even more critical on USB charging.
These problems are hidden most of the time, with the Display/Power saving mode, and dimmer screen settings.
It seems the full brightness is not properly designed and powered, and this is a shame, because it really makes the Epic 4G's display stand out.

No, that would not cause it. The symptom of that issue is fluctuating brightness not color dropping out. The problem could be a bad video connector or cable in the phone, or a bad display panel. Take it back while you can.

Well if he brings it in he should unroot it to avoid any conflicts. I pretty much wasted my trip to the sprint store when I went to resolve this issue last week and they simply told me that since I was rooted there was nothing they could do. I knew I could argue but I did not want to waste anymore of my time. I simply unrooted and bringing it back today to another store that doesnt treat their customers like they are idiots.

Tried it. It's pretty much worthless. Turns off wifi when away from your access points, which is cool. Otherwise, all it does is prevent your major apps from updating to a varying degree. It's better to just control this yourself in app settings and "Accounts and Sync" settings. I think the app was designed with people who don't have a clue about Android sync settings in mind. For the type of person who spends time reading Android forums, it's a waste of time. Sorry
If you do choose to use it, be aware that depending on the setting you or it chooses for Gmail, push notifications may not work.

Incorrect. This app has nothing to do with CPU. It automates turning on/off wifi, and blocks or reduces syncing for various major apps.

I took some more shots this morning and apparently in my situation, it basically has to be pitch black in HDR to get the artifacting as seen in the first picture...as long as it doesn't get any worse, it's not an issue for me. If I'm taking pictures in places that dark, the blur cause by the alcohol would make the picture impossible to see anyways haha. HDR and low light don't really go together. use the night mode. And its possible that the purple hue is heat related. As your battery gets lower, it heats up while trying to maintain proper voltage.
