I have a SGH-I747, baseband I747UCDMG2, using CM 10.2 Snapshot M1, and have issues with remaining connected to Google's servers. If I put the phone in standby (pushing power button), when I wake the phone back up, the data arrows go back and forth, and then the connection type goes grey. It will cycle between 3G, H, and H+. It will finally connect, and I can resume my Google services. I'm in a location that gets good signal (current signal strength is -89, and is pretty much constant). Since my number has been ported to Google Voice, it effects receiving text messages in a timely fashion. I know it's not Google Voice doing something weird, as when I'm at home, and on WiFi, I have no issues with text message delays.
It seems to be all of the CM roms I've tried do this same thing. Although, I remember before I rooted and flashed CM, I had similar behavior on Touchwiz roms (I would see G, 3G, 4G, 4G LTE).
I don't mind flashing the newest radio that came with the 4.3 update, but it's a pain to not get notified about a message I received 20-30 minutes ago.
Is this normal behavior for the radio to step down the connection, to save battery, and then upon waking, needs to reconnect to the google servers? I do not have any type of battery saver app installed, shutting down the data connection.
With a * next to this statement, I'm going to say I have this fixed. I had the Voice+ enabled, so my GV texts would be forwarded to my messaging app. I disabled that, and now I seem to be better off. It still does the whole 3G/H/H+, greys out, etc, but longest delay on a text lately has been just 6 minutes, dealing directly with the GV app.

First of all, the setup:
Myns Warm Two Point Two RLS 3 with netarchy toastmod 4.2.1 bfs-bfq-havs-more-smartass kernel.
I was in Orlando this past weekend for a family vacation and decided to test out a few things. I wanted to see how well 4G worked and how bad the battery drain was because I'm taking a business trip to Vegas in a few weeks. I turned it on, and it sat there "scanning" forever. That's all it ever said, until I turned it off a few hours later. Maps show that I should have had 4G coverage. I'm not sure if it's a ROM issue, a kernel issue, a Sprint issue, or something else entirely.
My second issue - I use Handcent SMS exclusively. I would snap a picture with the phone camera and share it via SMS. It would automatically resize and then try to send, but never would send. I kept getting "generic network failure" on any image that I tried to send. I finally got irritated enough to try and just email the pic, but it wouldn't even go through my Exchange email (at this point I didn't try Gmail, because I was ready to toss the phone in a pond...) I can receive MMS, but seems like I can't send any pictures. Anyone have any ideas what may have been going on?
I have found that you can't send MMS with 4g enabled. Seems to be something wrong with the phone or Android in that it doesn't switch to the appropriate protocol automatically. you have to turn off 4g, let it send, then turn 4g back on.

Fair enough - but once I determined that 4G wasn't going to connect, I turned it off. The MMS was being sent with only 3G enabled.
Hey guys
I use AOKP and around the time it moved to 4.0.4 my phone started behaving oddly. Say I'm.driving and go through an area with no coverage, when I get back into coverage, my phone connects to the network for calls and sms, but data doesn't reconnect.
I have the latest AOKP with IMM761 kernel but it still happens.
It's very annoying as I use IM and email constantly. Cycling flight mode fixes temporarily but takes quite a while and this basically makes push notifications redundant.
I used to have an SGS2 that behaved similarly on 3, but before I call and rant, I wanted to check if this is a bug regardless of network, or if it's something to do with a problem between Samsung radios and 3's network again.
Cheers
Mike
Have you got IMM76D or IMM76I?
The latest should fix those bugs...
What radio are you using?
However, if you put the phone in airplane mode and then switch it off after just some seconds, it should be fine.
It takes a good few minutes to cycle flight mode on AOKP. It's quicker for me to reboot.
Baseband XXLA2
IMM76I kernel (that comes with AOKP Milestone 5).
I never actually had the bug before updating to the latest stuff. Now I can't rely on it. It's basically unusable.
For some reason I cant post in the Dev forum in the Milestone thread...
The ROM is impressive. But I seem to be having 3G data issues.
It seems that I lose 3G service and it will not come back until I stop/start the data toggle. The status bar still shows the 3G icon, but the bars are just light grey and I do not receive email and cant browse. I can still send texts and get/make calls. I havent been able to figure out a pattern yet, but the latest occurrence happened after I came out of an area with no signal (NYC Subway). Usually service comes back automatically as Im walking up the stairs to the outside world but sometimes it never comes back until I toggle. It also happens sometimes even if I dont go into an area with no signal (at the office). After I turn off the data toggle, and turn it back on, the 3G icon comes back on the status bar and the bars turn blue again and shows up/down arrow activity.
Anyone else seeing something similar?
I'm having trouble with 3g and I have no 4g on milestone 6 as well. I went back to an older build until it the next one drops and see if it's fixed.

4G connects for me with no problem when I want to use it.
But I lost 3G data again this morning after coming out of the subway. Noticed I had emails in my inbox at work and checked my phone and 3G was stuck again.
I'm having connectivity problems on my copy of Milestone6 as well. Same 3G problems as OP, and can't connect 4G like 2ndP. As well, I'm unable to browse wifi signals, nor able to connect. :-/
So this is weird. My wife and I just picked up two brand new M9's from T-Mobile this afternoon.
We're able to connect to the wifi with our new phones without any trouble, but the wifi is sporadically slow. SpeedTest shows download speeds around 14.21 Mbps from the phone, but 64Mbps from my laptop for SpeedTest. Google services seem to go really slow:
Google Play application icons are slow to load
Google Now's initial setup hangs at a blue circle loading with gray background
Google Music takes a good 5 minutes of buffering to start playing a song
Browsing to google.com periodically times out in Chrome: "Google CHrome could not load the webpage because www.google.com took too long to respond."
I'm also noticing that despite connecting to wifi, there's still the 4G icon in the status bar - with my old M7, if you connected to Wifi, the 4G/2G indicator disappeared. Is this behavior normal for Sense 7?
EDIT: I've tried the following, and things seem like they may be a little better. I'm not sure which is the potential fix though:
Disable Power saver mode
Disable WiFi optimization
I grabbed a spare WiFi AP that is dual band, 5GHz seemed to go faster, but I'm not sure if that's because it's inherently faster than 2.4GHz
EDIT EDIT: Just kidding, I'm still having issues.
I don't know about the wifi going slow but the 4G icon will stay even if you're connected to wifi. I haven't had any problems with mine going slow on wifi and I have the T-Mobile version also
The weird part is that slowness is too broad... it almost seems like certain services are having issues. I could get to google on Wi-Fi and twitter would update, but Gmail, facebook, instagram, and hangouts wouldn't work.
Disconnecting from Wifi (and reverting to cellular data) "fixes" the issue.

Check to make sure in the advanced wifi settings that Wi-Fi frequency band is set to either auto or 5g. Usually the wifi will have the same name but the 5g will simply say "-5g" after the name. If you are connected to the 2.4g you will be slower. Here is a screenshot of my speedtests on the same network but different frequency.
5g= 209.53 down and 21.01 up
2.4g= 44.77 down and 21.13 up
both on my wifi just different frequency...
I am having an issue with push notifications on wifi. Notifications do not come until I turn on my screen, then they come flooding in. If I leave my house and get LTE data they also come flooding in without turning on the screen.
Everything but facebook messenger seems to be affected for me. My wife's G3 phone works fine on wifi and does not have this issue. I have installed PNF and have the heartbeat set to 5 minutes, and the issue remains. I set my tablet to DMZ on my modem, and the issue remains. I am on the most current OTA from verizon (5.0.2).
Being I do not get LTE data in my house, this is a real killer for me (especially with texts and emails). Any suggestions of what to do next would be very much appreciated.
Do you have the Advanced WIFI option set to keep WIFI on when screen is off (the "Yes" option)? I don't keep my WIFI on with the screen on so I couldn't advise further.
