[Q] GB vs KK? - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. What is better ROM for games? Like GTA III or generally games and apps? I'm asking for ROM for stock kernel. Thanks.

Depends. But some say fps on gb higher

The best ROM for games like GTA Vice City, for me is CM10.2 with Android 4.3.1 because in that ROM I can Swap my storage and use my external storage for game data, in KitKat we can't swap the storage currently, so I can play Asphalt 8 with any problem. The only laggy game is Modern Combat 4.
Honestly I didn't test these games on stock GB but on CM10.2 JB it goes pretty good.
Regards

Oh, so in Slimbean, Cm 10.1, AOKP, Carbon, etc. we can't swap memory? Man please.. Btw CM is mainstream, imho, there's a lot of better (efficiently) roms than that.

We can Swap in any custom ROM (Except on any that is 4.4), I only said that CM10.2 is my favorite.
Come on, there are many different opinions...

U wrote "because in that ROM I can Swap my storage and use my external storage for game data", read yourself.. Btw. even on 4.4 there's a method to install apps on external.. Ok eot.

Daily diver for non-tecnical little sister. Link2SD? GB? ICS?

My littlest sister just "inherited" a Wildfire S from my mother, who got a new phone.
Now, the stock ROM is completely useless beause of the lack of space. So I have unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM to work some magic on it.
I am considering installing a 2.3.5 Rom with Link2SD. But of course, if an ICS ROM is stable enough (modpunks CM9 seems to be the best?) and is pretty swift, ICS is better than GB.
Some questions though:
1: Is Link2SD a good choice amon the ther A2sd-options like Int2ext4+?
2: Is any of the ICS ROMs (like modpunks) an OK choice for a non technical kid after it's setup? Or if not, what GB ROM should I go for?
I live quite a few hours away, so it should preferably "just work" ones it's set up. Of course, it ill occasionally hang, reboot etc., but the less the better, and she won't be able to do anything techie to fix anything. Fixing permissions nd wiping dalvic cache from recovery is pretty much wht I cn expect to talk her through.
int2ext+ is best... and ICS is stable now... try paranoid android ICS, it is good for daily usage... If your sister found any difficulty using ICS then going for wildchild/hense mod GB roms ...
May I suggest miui or cm alpha 9 only by mod punk. Int2ext+ is a good option as she won't have to go into technicalities. It'll work in background and would be faster than data 2sd.

Thank you. modpunks alpha 9 seems to work well with the miui camera except for automatic back light - but with a toggle in notification drawer that is not a problem. is there any particular int2ext+ I should use? It seems to be more than one modified version out there.
edit: iI think I'll just use CronMod int2ext4+.

I use int2ext4+, Thats specially if you have a ext4 partition. There aren't more than int2ext+ version. They are either int2ext, ext(bla bla)...
So just find int2ext+ or int2ext4+...
Here's link for ext4 one : http://d-h.st/EVF
Thank you very much for your help. It seems to run surprisingly fast with Modpunks CM9 Alpha 9 and int2ext4+, especially after I changed the CPU settings to 768 or something max. Now she's playing some silly game or another, and is indeed very happy with her "new" phone. Now her parents will be afraid of what and who she'll be texting on kik or whatever with her smatphone, but with no credit card connected and mobile data turned of, at least she'll not ruin them.
THIS
jellyking1.0 cm10 (soon to updated as promised by the creator) + int2ext+ like you said + eoghan's kernel + 806MHz cpu clock

Hi, sukhjut321, do you know which custom sense Rom can run int2ext+/int2ext4+ ? I am running http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797588 sense 3,5 rom now but non of the int2ext is working. D2sd is slow and lagy for me. Any particular sense rom recommended for working int2ext?
hensemod, wildchild, alaadragon fire are sense 2.1 based roms that support int2ext scripts... supreme mod also supports it but it is little over themed, you can use it if that wont bother you..

I never tried any sense rom with int2ext. It'd be great if you post a new thread asking. I don't wanna give you any wrong suggestion.
Why don't you go for link2sd? Even I switched back to it gives me more freedom.

[Q] Which CM is best for Wildfire S ??

I have had rooted my device, Now i just want to select CM. which CM is more stable on wildfire S Cm 9.1 or Cm 10 ?
And if i partition the card with ROM manager app ,is it safe will it delete my data from the card ?
I haven't tried any other CM but CM10, so I cannot tell you wether it's more stable than CM7 or CM9, but I can tell you that it is fully satisfying! It's smoother thand the original sense 2.5 rom on your WFS and most problems that occured with CM10 are solved or are being solved thanks to the devs... So I would go for the latest CM, which is CM10...
I tested modpunk's CM10 Alpha 2 and ParanoidAndroid 2.54 JB and Jelly King 1.2 and I have to say that Jelly King is probably the best Rom I have ever used! Go for it!
Odp: [Q] Which CM is best for Wildfire S ??
I flashed Jelly King and I must say it's very good rom. Fast, smooth etc.
But in my case voice search and other voice service doesn't work. I don't know why is that Rom fault or gapps.
Jerry
Thanks

Since buying my wfs I stayed on stock only for a little bit. So for over a year I've been using various cm and cm- based roms.
Right now I've found cm10 builds to be somewhat snappier. Cm9 based roms a little more stable imho. (Still, the most stable for me have been cm7 based roms.)
To your second question now, if you're going to be partitioning your SD, do take the time to backup first, definitely.

With Joshbeach's new updated rom Jellybomb Domination it comes with ROM toolbox PRO which has the function to move apps to sd. I don't know if I helped you out or not, but you should be satisfied with the ROM and what it comes with.

None of the last 10-15 ROMs I've tried (both TW and AOSP) had that baked in, but as Keepinitgreen said, ROM Toolbox Pro has this capability, as well as many other really good features that are worth checking out.
I have ROM toolbox and still can't move any of my apps to External SD card. I am running FreeGS3 and rooted of course. Any help would be appreciated.

(ISO) rom recommendations - smooth, stable, memory

Hi,
I'm currently in search of a rom for my girlfriend. I'm anything but up to date with wildfire roms, that's why I'm asking for your recommendations
I'm looking for a stable and smooth user experience, which also offers some more space for apps. Ofc I won't expect any miracles, but she really loves her small device
Are ics roms in general more laggy?
Thanks for anything you can tell me

Yeah I think I will stick with that. On my previous device it was possible to install either another partition table (hboot) or use a2sd to get more space for apps.
there is probably something similar for buzz, isn't it? Gonna read some more topics as soon as I start with this device..
Anyway, thanks for your answers!
For that, you have to partition your sdcard to ext3 and fat32 using CWM
While formatting, your data on sdcard will be cleared so keep a backup of that.
After partition, you can flash a script or install an app like link2sd to move apps to ext3
Why not ext4?
I chose ext4 for my mom's wildfire and it seems to run okay..... so far
I followed a good guide from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125513
It said to chose ext4...
Why would you recommend ext3?
RemPuzzle ROM is the most stable and buttery smooth !! :good:
CM7 is the most stable. I'm currently using CM9.1, has a few bugs but it runs pretty smooth.

Could somebody suggest a ROM and kernel suited to these needs?

Hi,
I've been using tips from this community . I decided to become a member recently. I've been using an Arc S since April 2012. I'd had bluetooth(bootloop) and Wi-Fi (extremely slow) problems with ICS(stock). I'd then rooted and installed this kitkat ROM ( [ROM][CM11][Arc/S][UB] Xperia UltraKat v2.1.1 | KK 4.4.2 | 11/4/2014 | [DISCONTINUED]). The Wi-Fi and bluetooth problems vanished at the cost of a resource hogging ROM( it took up a lot of RAM and internal memory ). I could use those features but there wasn't much space to do so. I'd then downgraded to ICS and installed this ICS ROM([ROM]{ICS} Xperia Ultimate HD 5.0.1 | Extreme Innovation | Performance redefinied |]) recently. The ROM is amazing; it's fast and doesn't take up much space but the Wi-Fi is slow ( download erratically - took a few hours to download 18MB). I have a feeling that the Wi-Fi problem is intimately linked to ICS. I mean no disrespect to the developers, they've done their part.
In short, could someone suggest a ROM in which:
1) There are no Wi-Fi problems.
2) There are no bluetooth problems.
3) The ROM is fast and I get sufficient( ~250-300MB) internal memory.
4) Games work smoothly(optional )
I've tried searching but I want to know for certain that the above things work(from people who have actually used the ROM).
I looked at this thread ([Q&A][KK]Review of 2 roms, with tips and bugs and future suggestions) , but it doesn't answer my questions specifically. Plus, I'm skeptical about returning to kitkat
I guess I'm looking for a JB ROM. Any ideas, suggestions or comments ?

JB ROMs are laggier than KK? I didn't know that. When I was using the kitkat ROM(ultrakat), I used to get ~60-90MB of free RAM. I'm using a JB ROM now(Super Jelly Bean 8.0) and I get ~170-210MB of free RAM. And there's no lag at all.
I'll still try the CM11 based ROM though. Thanks for the suggestion.

There's certain tweaks that can be done to the ROM that reduces lag. KK is supposed to be faster because it was developed for low end devices.

Changing the I/O scheduler can improve device performance but it's not so obvious. I won't recommend overclocking because you're going to fry the mobo especially when you OC to 2GHz. You can try V6 supercharger script. Did wonders for my Arc S back then.
